Description

[0001] The invention relates to a container comprising a side wall, wherein the side wall has at least one corrugated section, at least in the region of an upper edge of the side wall. The container can, for example, be a plant pot.

[0002] Containers with a corrugated side wall, characterized by ridges running downwards perpendicular to the upper edge, are known. This type of side wall can also be described as ribbed. Known containers with corrugated side walls have the disadvantage that, while visually appealing, they are not very stable because the wall is easily stretched due to the "accordion effect." Attempts are made to compensate for this disadvantage in known containers by increasing the material thickness.

[0003] The object of the invention is to provide a container of the type mentioned above which is advantageous compared to known containers.

[0004] The problem is solved by a container according to claim 1. Further advantageous embodiments are the subject of the dependent claims or are described below.

[0005] By extending a stiffening element in a plane transverse to the wave crests, into which the corrugated section merges, the stability of the side wall is significantly increased. This solution allows for high stability with considerably less material than conventional containers, which can only achieve comparable stability with a much thicker side wall. Fixing the corrugated contour to the underside of the stiffening element as a flat section results in high stability for both the side wall and the stiffening element itself. The solution according to the invention thus enables significant material savings while maintaining the same level of stability, thereby conserving resources and resulting in substantial cost savings.

[0006] Because the stiffening element completely covers the wave shape of the upper end of the corrugated section when viewed from above, especially the wave areas on the outside and inside, the entire corrugated edge line of the corrugated section is fixed and the side wall receives particularly high stability.

[0007] Preferably, all sections of the upper end of the corrugated section are directly connected to the stiffening element. This results in particularly high stability.

[0008] Preferably, the stiffening element is integrally connected to the corrugated section. This results in a (further) increase in stability.

[0009] In a preferred embodiment, the stiffening element on the outer side of the container is cantilevered downwards in such a way that it connects to the upper ends of the outer wave crests. This further increases stability. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the stiffening element has an L-shaped cross-section in a vertical plane transverse to the side wall.

[0010] In a preferred embodiment, the entire side wall is corrugated in the region of the upper edge. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the entire side wall is corrugated.

[0011] In a preferred embodiment, the upper edge is circular. The entire side wall then has particularly high stability.

[0012] In a preferred embodiment, the diameter of the upper edge is between 25 cm and 30 cm. Preferably, the material thickness in the corrugated section is between 0.5 mm and 2 mm. Preferably, the width of the stiffening element in the plane transverse to the side wall is between 4 mm and 8 mm.

[0013] In a preferred embodiment, the stiffening element is designed as a circular ring. This achieves particularly high stability with minimal material expenditure for the stiffening element.

[0014] Preferably the container is made of plastic, and preferably the container is manufactured using injection molding.

[0015] In a preferred embodiment, the container is a plant pot.

[0016] An embodiment of a container according to the invention is explained with reference to the figures.

[0017] They show Fig. 1: a container according to the invention; Fig. 2: a top view of the in Fig. 1 container shown; Fig. 3: a sectional side view of the in Fig. 1 of the container shown.

[0018] The in Fig. The container shown in Figure 1 according to the invention comprises a circumferential side wall 1, wherein a circular upper edge 2 of the circumferential side wall defines an opening of the container. The side wall 1 is corrugated, particularly in the region of the upper edge 2, such that corrugation crests 3 are formed in it, extending downwards transversely to the upper edge 2. The upper edge 2 has a stiffening element 4 that extends in a plane transversely to the corrugation crests 3 such that the corrugated section opens upwards into the stiffening element 4. Viewed from above, the stiffening element 4 completely covers the corrugation of the upper end of the corrugated section. All sections of the upper end of the corrugated section are directly and integrally connected to the stiffening element 4. The stiffening element 4 is projected downwards on its outer side in such a way that it is connected to the upper ends of the outer corrugation crests 3. As in Fig. As can be seen in Figure 2, the stiffening element 4 has an L-shaped cross-section in a vertical plane perpendicular to the side wall 1. The container is made of plastic and is manufactured using injection molding. The diameter of the upper rim is between 25 cm and 30 cm. The material thickness in the corrugated section is between 0.5 mm and 2 mm. The width of the stiffening element in the plane perpendicular to the side wall is between 4 mm and 8 mm.
