Tire shape inspection method and tire shape inspection device

Disclosed is a tire shape inspection method that can reliably and without misidentification perform accurate shape defect inspection in a short period of time by excluding measurement values in a range in which embossed marks are formed from distribution information for surface height measurement values on the sidewall surface of a tire. In the method, a processor automatically detects the positions of the embossed marks based on sample surface shape information obtained from a sample of the tire, and automatically sets coordinate information for a mask range surrounding the area where said marks are present (S2-S15). The processor also causes a surface shape image based on the sample surface shape information and a mask range image based on the coordinate information for the mask range to be displayed superimposed on a display means, and changes the coordinate information for the mask range according to an operating input (S16). The processor also corrects deviation in the coordinatesystem between the surface height distribution information obtained from the tire undergoing inspection and the coordinate information for the mask range after changing, and excludes measurement values in the mask range from shape defect inspection processing.

Frictional characteristic measuring apparatus and tire directed thereto

In a frictional characteristic measuring apparatus, a sensor section emits a sound wave, which gives vibration to an object to be measured, as an incident sound wave, and receives a reflected sound wave generated by reflection of the sound wave on the object to be measured. An operational processing section derives a loss tangent of a viscoelastic characteristic of the object to be measured based upon the reflected sound wave received by the sensor section. Further, the operational processing section calculates a frictional characteristic from the derived loss tangent by means of a prescribed conversion constant. Moreover, the operational processing section previously emits an incident sound wave in a state where the object to be measured is not present, and stores the reflected sound wave as a reference value.

Pneumatic Tire Having Built-In Sealant Layer And Preparation Thereof

InactiveUS20090078352A1Eliminate and reduce inner liner blister formationReduce eliminateTyre partsTyresSelf-healingEngineering
In one embodiment, a pneumatic tire having a built-in sealant layer, before cure, includes an unvulcanized pneumatic tire assembly having an outer circumferential rubber tread and a supporting carcass. A precursor sealant layer is situated between the supporting carcass and an innermost rubber inner liner. The precursor sealant layer includes a non-flowing polyurethane composition that is neither gel-like nor tacky and is self-supporting. The precursor sealant layer, during curing of the unvulcanized pneumatic tire assembly, thermally degrades so as to provide a gel-like and tacky, self-healing polyurethane composition which defines the built-in sealant layer. The resulting tire, with its innermost polyurethane composition, allows for elimination or reduction in blister formation by reducing or elimination the amount of gases typically given off by organoperoxide-butyl based sealant layers, such as when the tire is at its running temperature. Consequently, the thickness of the inner liner may be reduced.
