Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a swivel assembly and in particular a swivel assembly for a wrench or ratchet wrench, in which several connectors and a swiveling connection mechanism are used for mounting a double-headed ratchet wrench to provide a swivel function that enables the operation of the wrench at certain angles in a certain space, and in which a clamping structure is used to fix the certain angle in order to make the operating process relatively smooth. 2. State of the art
[0002] It is well known that the Taiwanese machine industry is quite advanced and highly competitive, from research and design to maintenance. In various complex mechanical structures, there is often only limited space for the operator to perform their work, or there are obstacles near the work position. This makes it difficult for the operator to position a wrench on the workpiece. The operator can only complete the work by constantly switching between different angles of the wrench. Having to continuously change the working angle of the wrench during operation is very time-consuming.
[0003] Currently, there are commercially available wrenches that are adjustable for various working angles, allowing the operator to work smoothly in different spaces. Taiwanese patent publication No. M300591 discloses an angle-adjustable wrench design. The patent description states that when an angle adjustment is required, the user only needs to actuate a pressure element to cause an engagement rod to slide, disengaging it from a toothed section of a protruding ear-shaped part of the tool head. This allows for any desired angle setting of the tool head relative to a handle. Once the angle is set, the engagement rod is released and re-engaged by a return element. The process is simpler and can be set for different angles. However, the engaging parts of such a wrench can wear out and thus become weakened in their fixing effect, which leads to the angle of the wrench changing arbitrarily in practical operation and thus increases the difficulties in operation.
[0004] Furthermore, Taiwanese patent publication TW I297633 discloses a wrench assembly that can be bent and fixed. The wrench assembly is provided with two bendable sections and designed with two pivoting connection mechanisms to bend a wrench head and a handle part, which are connected by two ends of a pivoting connecting element to form a suitable shape, and with a rotary adjustment wheel to cause an engagement element to extend outwards so that an engagement section of the engagement element engages with teeth of a pivoting block of the wrench head or the handle part to fix the set angle of the wrench head and the handle part.Although this prior art patent fixes the angle of the wrench by means of a toothed engagement, its design is more complex and requires relatively more components to perform the rotary engagement, with the swivel block also needing to be toothed. This increases the number of mechanisms and components and thus has the disadvantage of increased structural costs and more complex maintenance.
[0005] One objective of the invention was therefore to create a device with which the angle of the wrench can be quickly fixed and a large fixing force is provided, so that once the wrench is set to a certain angle, the angle is stably fixed and thus cannot be changed during work. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] Since the existing angle adjustment designs of wrench tools described above still exhibit many shortcomings in their actual implementation and use, the inventor utilizes extensive expertise and years of practical experience to provide an improvement and make available the present invention.

[0019] The present invention relates primarily to a ratchet wrench in which several connectors and a pivoting connecting unit are used. The several connectors are provided with structures for pivoting connection. The several connectors and a ratchet head or a handle of the ratchet wrench are combined in the ratchet wrench with a pivoting structure by means of shafts for pivoting connection.
[0020] For a detailed description of the technical features of the present invention, the following embodiments and the associated drawings are described below, without thereby limiting the scope of the present invention in any way. [First embodiment]
[0021] With reference to the Fig. 1 to Fig. 3 In the application of the first embodiment of the present invention, a pivoting assembly consists mainly of a first connector 1, a second connector 2 and a pivotable connecting unit 3. Two ends of the pivoting assembly are combined with ratchet heads 41 of a ratchet wrench 4, so that the double-headed ratchet wrench 4, whose heads are both ratchet heads 41, is formed.
[0022] In the first embodiment, the first connector 1 is provided at each of its two ends with two first wing sections 11, and a first clamping section 12 is formed between the two first wing sections 11. The first clamping section 12 is located in the middle section of the first connector 1 and projects from an inner surface 13 of the first connector 1. The two first wing sections 11 are each provided with a first connecting hole 111 that passes through an inner surface 13 and an outer surface 14 of the first connector 1. That is, the first connector 1 has two first connecting holes 111. The first clamping section 12 is provided with a first clamping hole 121. The first clamping hole 121 penetrates the outer surface 14, which is located on one side of the first connector 1, and a surface 15 of the projecting part.
[0023] The second connector 2 is provided at each of its two ends with two second wing sections 21, with a second clamping section 22 formed between the two second wing sections 21. The second clamping section 22 is located in the middle section of the second connector 2 and projects from an inner surface 23 of the second connector 2. The two second wing sections 21 are each provided with a second connecting hole 211, which passes through an inner surface 23 and an outer surface 24 of the second connector 2. That is, the second connector 2 has two second connecting holes 211. The second clamping section 22 is provided with a second clamping hole 221. The second clamping hole 221 penetrates the outer surface 24, which is located on one side of the second connector 2, and a surface 25 of the projecting part.
[0024] Furthermore, the first connector 1 and the second connector 2 are connected to the ratchet head 41 or the handle of the ratchet wrench 4 by the pivoting connecting unit 3. The ratchet head 41 and the handle are both provided with a pivoting connecting block 43. The pivoting connecting block 43 is provided with a pivot hole 431. The first embodiment is combined with two ratchet heads 41. Before the combination, the first connector 1 and the second connector 2 are arranged symmetrically. The projecting parts of the first clamping section 12 and the second clamping section 22 are arranged opposite each other. The two first wing sections 11 and the two second wing sections 21 accordingly form two receiving areas 5 between them. These two receiving areas 5 are suitable for receiving the pivoting connecting blocks 43 of the ratchet heads 41 of the ratchet wrench 4.
[0025] The pivotable connecting unit 3 comprises two pivot pins 31 and a fastening element 32. During assembly of the first embodiment, one of the pivot pins 31 is inserted into the first connecting hole 111 of one of the first wing sections 11 of the first connector 1, into the pivot pin hole 431 of the pivotable connecting block 43 of the ratchet head 41, and into the second connecting hole 211 of one of the second wing sections 21 of the second connector 2. The other pivot pin 31 is inserted into the first connecting hole 111 of the other first wing section 11 of the first connector 1, into the pivot pin hole 431 of the pivotable connecting block 43 of the other ratchet head 41, and into the second connecting hole 211 of the other second wing section 21 of the second connector 2.The fastening element 32 is inserted into the first clamping hole 121 of the first clamping section 12 of the first connector 1 and into the second clamping hole 221 of the second clamping section 22 of the second connector 2. During this process, the first clamping section 12 and the second clamping section 22 form a gap 6 between them.
[0026] Since the pivot pins 31 and the fastening element 32 are screws in the first embodiment, the first connecting hole 111 and the second connecting hole 211 are provided with internal threads that correspond to the external threads of the screws. Depending on the screw direction, the internal thread is formed accordingly in the first connecting hole 111 or the second connecting hole 211. This internal thread is provided without limitation in the first connecting hole 111 or the second connecting hole 211. During assembly, the ratchet heads 41 can be mounted through the screwed-on pivot pins 31. The central sections of the screws allow the two ratchet heads 41 one degree of freedom to rotate about the axis of the pivot pin 31, thus achieving a swiveling function. Depending on the requirements of the workspace, the ratchet head 41 can be rotated to the desired angle to facilitate work.If the ratchet head 41 needs to be replaced by a handle or other tool heads, the user only needs to unscrew the pivot pin 31 to remove the existing ratchet head 41 and replace it with the desired tool head or handle.
[0027] The first clamping hole 121 or the second clamping hole 221 is also provided with an internal thread that corresponds to the external thread of the fastener 32. Depending on the tightening direction of the screw, the internal thread is formed accordingly in the first clamping hole 121 or the second clamping hole 221. This internal thread is provided without limit in the first clamping hole 121 or the second clamping hole 221. When the fastener 32 is not fully tightened, the gap 6 between the first clamping section 12 and the second clamping section 22 is relatively larger, and the first wing sections 11 of the first connector 1 and the second wing sections 21 of the second connector 2 do not rest against the pivotable connecting blocks 43 of the ratchet heads 41, so that the ratchet heads 41 can still be adjusted angularly. When the fastener 32 is tightened, the first connector 1 and the second connector 2 move closer together. This means that the gap 6 between the first clamping section 12 and the second clamping section 22 gradually decreases, and the distances between the two first wing sections 11 and the two second wing sections 21 become increasingly shorter. Finally, the first wing sections 11 and the second wing sections 21 rest against the pivoting connecting blocks 43 of the ratchet heads 41 to achieve a clamping effect. Meanwhile, the ratchet heads 41 can no longer be rotated, thus fixing the set specific angle of the ratchet wrench 4. Uncontrolled rotation of the ratchet heads 41 and the resulting hazard during work are prevented. ]Second embodiment]
[0028] With reference to the Fig. 4 to Fig.In the second embodiment of the present invention, the first connector 1 and the second connector 2 are formed in one piece, with a third connector 7 additionally provided. The first connector 1, the second connector 2, and the third connector 7 are combined with the pivotable connecting unit 3 to form a pivot assembly. The pivot assembly of the second embodiment is provided at its two ends with different connection types for combination with the ratchet head 41 or handle 42 of the ratchet wrench 4 to form the ratchet wrench 4.
[0029] According to the second embodiment, the first connector 1 is provided at one of its ends with a first wing section 11 and is formed with a first clamping section 12, which is arranged next to the first wing section 11. The first clamping section 12 is located in the middle section of the first connector 1 and projects from an inner surface 13 of the first connector 1. The first wing section 11 is provided with a first connecting hole 111, which penetrates an inner surface 13 and an outer surface 14 of the first connector 1. The first clamping section 12 is provided with a first clamping hole 121. The first clamping hole 121 penetrates the outer surface 14, which is located on one side of the first connector 1, and a surface 15 of the projecting part.
[0030] The second connector 2 is provided at one of its ends with a second wing section 21 and with a second clamping section 22, which is located next to the second wing section 21. The second clamping section 22 is located in the middle section of the second connector 2 and projects from an inner surface 23 of the second connector 2. The second wing section 21 is provided with a second connecting hole 211, which penetrates an inner surface 23 and an outer surface 24 of the second connector 2. The second clamping section 22 is provided with a second clamping hole 221. The second clamping hole 221 penetrates the outer surface 24, which is located on one side of the second connector 2, and a surface 25 of the projecting part.
[0031] The second embodiment further comprises the third connector 7, which is formed on an end surface 8 formed jointly by the first connector 1 and the second connector 2 at the end opposite the first wing section 11 of the first connector 1 and the second wing section 21 of the second connector 2. The third connector 7 projects from the end surface 8 and is provided with a third connecting hole 71.
[0032] Furthermore, the first connector 1, the second connector 2, the third connector 7, and the ratchet head 41 or handle 42 of the ratchet wrench 4 are connected to one another by the pivoting connecting unit 3. The ratchet head 41 and the handle 42 are formed with one or two pivoting connecting blocks 43, depending on whether they are connected to the first connector 1, the second connector 2, or the third connector 7. The pivoting connecting block 43 is provided with a pivot hole 431. The second embodiment combines a ratchet head 41 and a handle 42. In the second embodiment, the first connector 1, the second connector 2, and the third connector 7 are formed in one piece. The first connector 1 and the second connector 2 are arranged symmetrically. The projecting parts of the first clamping section 12 of the first connector 1 and the second clamping section 22 of the second connector 2 are arranged opposite each other to form a gap 6 between them. The first wing section 11 of the first connector 1 and the second wing section 21 of the second connector 2 accordingly form a receiving area 5 between them to receive the pivotable connecting block 43 of the ratchet head 41 of the ratchet wrench 4. At the other end, the third connector 7 is connected to the handle 42, the two pivotable connecting blocks 43 of which form a pivotable connecting space 44 to receive the third connector 7 between them.
[0033] The pivoting connecting unit 3 comprises two pivot pins 31 and a fastening element 32. In the assembly of the second embodiment, one of the pivot pins 31 is inserted into the first connecting hole 111 of the first wing section 11 of the first connector 1, the pivot pin hole 431 of the pivoting connecting block 43 of the ratchet head 41, and the second connecting hole 211 of the second wing section 21 of the second connector 2. The other pivot pin 31 is inserted into the pivot pin hole 431 of one of the pivoting connecting blocks 43 of the handle 42, into the third connecting hole 71 of the third connector 7, and into the pivot pin hole 431 of the other pivoting connecting block 43 of the handle 42. The fastening element 32 is inserted into the first clamping hole 121 of the first clamping section 12 of the first connector 1 and into the second clamping hole 221 of the second clamping section 22 of the second connector 2.
[0034] Since the pivot pins 31 and the fastening element 32 are screws in the second embodiment, the first connecting hole 111 and the second connecting hole 211 are provided with internal threads that correspond to the external threads of the screws. Depending on the tightening direction of the screw, the internal thread is formed accordingly in the first connecting hole 111 or the second connecting hole 211. This internal thread is provided without limitation in the first connecting hole 111 or the second connecting hole 211. Corresponding to the tightening direction of the screw, the handle 42 is also formed with an internal thread in one of the pivot pin holes 431. The third connecting hole 71 is without an internal thread. During assembly, the ratchet head 41 and the handle 42 can be mounted through the screwed-on pivot pins 31.The central section of the screw allows the ratchet head 41 or the handle 42 one degree of freedom to rotate around the axis of the pivot pin 31, thus achieving a swivel function. Depending on the requirements of the workspace, the ratchet head 41 or the handle 42 can be rotated to the desired angle to facilitate the work. If the ratchet head 41 or the handle 42 needs to be replaced with a different tool head, the user simply needs to unscrew the pivot pin 31 to remove the existing ratchet head 41 or handle 42 and replace it with the desired tool head.
[0035] The first clamping hole 121 or the second clamping hole 221 is also provided with an internal thread that corresponds to the external thread of the fastener 32. Depending on the tightening direction of the screw, the internal thread is formed accordingly in the first clamping hole 121 or the second clamping hole 221. This internal thread is provided without limit in the first clamping hole 121 or the second clamping hole 221. When the fastener 32 is not fully tightened, the gap 6 between the first clamping section 12 and the second clamping section 22 is relatively larger, and the first wing section 11 of the first connector 1 and the second wing section 21 of the second connector 2 do not rest against the pivotable connecting block 43 of the ratchet head 41, so that the ratchet head 41 can still be adjusted angularly. When the fastener 32 is tightened, the first connector 1 and the second connector 2 move closer together. This means that the gap 6 between the first clamping section 12 and the second clamping section 22 gradually decreases, and the distance between the first wing section 11 and the second wing section 21 becomes increasingly shorter. Finally, the first wing section 11 and the second wing section 21 abut the pivoting connecting block 43 of the ratchet head 41 to achieve a clamping effect. During this time, the ratchet head 41 can no longer be rotated, thus fixing the set specific angle of the ratchet wrench 4. Uncontrolled rotation of the ratchet head 41 and the resulting hazard during operation are prevented.
[0036] In the first and second embodiments of the present invention, the angle fixation is primarily achieved by fully tightening the fastener 32. If screws are used as pivot points 31, the pivot points 31 can also be fully tightened to fix the ratchet head 41 or the handle 42 at a specific angle, and the fastener 32 is then tightened to increase the fixing force. However, the present invention is not limited to the use of screws as pivot points 31, but can also use general pins as pivot points 31 so that the ratchet head 41 or the handle 42 can be installed and rotated.
[0037] The foregoing description of the embodiments shows that the present invention has the following advantages compared to the existing technology.
[0038] 1. The swivel assembly of the ratchet wrench according to the present invention consists of several connectors and a pivoting connecting unit and can fix the ratchet head and the handle of the ratchet wrench. The swivel joints allow the angle to be changed. Depending on the requirements of the workspace, the ratchet head or the handle can be rotated to the required angle so that the user can work at a suitable angle in a confined space.
[0039] 2. The pivoting assembly of the ratchet wrench according to the present invention uses the clamping sections of the connectors to tighten the ratchet head or handle of the ratchet wrench. Fully tightening the fastener reduces the gap between the first and second clamping sections, bringing the first and second connectors closer together and thus tightening the pivoting connecting block of the ratchet head or handle. This simple configuration and operation effectively sets the desired angle of the ratchet wrench.
