Abstract
Description
Technical field
[0001] The present utility model relates to a threaded connection assembly. Technical background
[0002] When assembling modern electronic devices and machines, especially when assembling board-to-board connections, ensuring a precise fit between components is critical. However, due to the overlap of part tolerances and dimensional variations, component loosening or misfit problems often occur during assembly. This can lead to poor connections, functional failures, or degradation of the overall component performance.
[0003] In automotive electronics, for example, radios, navigation systems, and other electronic devices are typically housed in a metal enclosure (silver box) to provide electromagnetic shielding. However, when assembling a panel assembly with a component such as a silver box, the assembly may be loose or leaky due to mechanical tolerances and dimensional variations between the panel and the silver box. This problem not only affects the appearance of the device but also leads to failure of the electrical connections.
[0004] With conventional bolting methods, it is sometimes difficult to ensure precise alignment and tight connection between components, especially when multi-directional assemblies are involved. The current art lacks an assembly method that can automatically hold two components and ensure their tight connection in multiple directions. Accordingly, there is a need for a tightening device capable of automatically tightening two assemblies to ensure precise alignment and stable connection of the two assemblies in two directions, particularly for use in the assembly of in-vehicle electronic devices, to solve the above-mentioned problems. Concrete embodiments
[0015] Embodiments of the present utility model are described in detail below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Identical or similar reference numerals in the figures indicate identical or similar elements or elements with identical or similar functions. The exemplary embodiments described below with reference to the accompanying drawings are exemplary and serve merely to explain the present utility model and are not to be understood as limiting the present utility model.
[0016] Unless otherwise defined, technical or scientific terms used herein have the ordinary meaning understood by a person having normal technical knowledge in the field to which the present utility model belongs. In the description of the present utility model, it should be understood that the terms "center", "longitudinal direction", "lateral direction", "top", "bottom", "front", "rear", "left", "right", "vertical", "horizontal", "topmost", "bottommost", "inside", "outside" and the like indicate orientations or positional relationships based on the orientations or positional relationships shown in the accompanying drawings and are intended only to facilitate and simplify the description of the present utility model; they are not intended to indicate or imply that the device or element referred to must have a particular orientation or be constructed and operated in a particular orientation, and are therefore not to be construed as limiting the present utility model.Furthermore, the terms “first” and “second” should not be understood as an implicit or explicit reference to a relative importance, but serve merely as a descriptive measure.
[0017] In this specification, the term "axis" refers to the axis x of a screw. The term "axial" or "axial direction" means a direction along the axis of the screw. The term "circumferential direction" means a direction about the axis x. The term "radial" or "radial direction" refers to a direction substantially perpendicular to the axis and pointing toward or away from the axis. The term "radial in" or "radial inside" refers to a part, section, location, or orientation that is relatively close to the axis. The term "radial out" or "radial outside" refers to a part, section, location, or orientation that is relatively far from the axis.
[0018] The present utility model provides a threaded connection assembly comprising at least one screw having a screw head and a screw shank, the screw shank being provided with a thread formed along its length and a gear formed on its base; a first assembly comprising a first assembly body and at least one support structure, the support structure having an opening which in turn has a first linear edge on which a linear toothed rack is formed; and a second assembly having a threaded bore matched to the thread of the screw shank, the screw shank of the screw passing through the opening of the first assembly and threadably engaging the threaded bore of the second assembly, while the gear of the screw engages the linear toothed rack.
[0019] That is, the screw shank of the screw engages the threaded hole of the second assembly, while the circular gear of the screw engages the linear rack at the opening of the support structure. Thus, when the screw is tightened, the support structure of the first assembly further presses against the second assembly in the axial direction of the screw. At the same time, the circular gear of the screw tightens the first assembly and the second assembly in the extension direction of the linear rack. In one or more embodiments, the extension direction of the linear rack is perpendicular to the axial direction of the screw shank of the screw. Thus, the screw can tighten the first assembly and the second assembly in both the axial direction of the screw and the extension direction of the rack (e.g., perpendicular to the axial direction). This ensures a reliable connection between the first and second modules.
[0020] In Fig. 1 shows a screw 100 according to one or more embodiments of the present utility model. The screw 100 has an x-axis and comprises a screw head 110 and a screw shaft 120 extending from the screw head 110 in the axial direction. A thread 122 is provided on the screw shaft 120 along its length. In addition, the screw 100 comprises a circular gear 130 formed at the base of the screw shaft 120 (i.e., next to or in the immediate vicinity of the screw head 110). The circular gear 130 is provided with gear teeth 132 formed along its circumference. The screw head 110 comprises a drive section 112. With the aid of a drive tool matched to the drive section 112 of the screw head 110, the screw 100 can be rotated, i.e., the screw 100 can be tightened or unscrewed. Fig. 1 is schematic. In other embodiments according to the present invention, the screw 100 may be formed in other shapes. In one or more embodiments, the thread 122 of the screw 100 may be designed as different thread types, e.g., as a triangular thread, square thread, trapezoidal thread, or serrated thread. The thread 122 of the screw 100 may also be a single-start thread, a double-start thread, or a multi-start thread. In one or more embodiments, the number, shape, size, etc., of the gear teeth 132 may depend on the requirements of the particular application. The tooth shape of the gear teeth 132 may be involute, circular, or otherwise shaped. In one or more embodiments, the drive portion 112 may be designed in a variety of shapes, such asin a cross shape, a slot shape, an outer hexagon shape, an inner hexagon shape, a star shape or other shapes to accommodate different types of tools, such as screwdrivers, power tools or other special turning tools.
[0021] Fig. 2A shows a sectional view of a threaded connection assembly 200 according to one or more embodiments of the present utility model. The threaded connection assembly 200 comprises a screw 100, a first assembly 210, and a second assembly 260. The first assembly 210 comprises a support structure 220. The second assembly 260 comprises a threaded bore 270. The screw 100 engages with its screw shaft 120 into the threaded bore 270 of the second assembly 260 and presses the support structure 220 of the first assembly 210 against the second assembly 260 with its screw head 110, so that the screw 100 fastens the first assembly 210 to the second assembly 260 in the axial direction of the screw 100. The first assembly 210 and the second assembly 260 in Fig. 2A are shown schematically. In one or more embodiments according to the present utility model, the first assembly 210 and the second assembly 260 may be any suitable electronic or mechanical assemblies that need to be connected to each other.
[0022] Fig. 2B and Fig. 2C show perspective views of the threaded connection assembly 200, with the second assembly 260 omitted to show the support structure 220 of the first assembly 210. As shown, the support structure 220 includes an opening 230. The opening 230 is an elongated opening and has a length direction. The screw shank 120 of the screw 100 is passed through the opening 230 of the support structure 220 to establish a threaded connection with the threaded bore 270 (in Fig. 2B and Fig. 2C not shown) of the second assembly 260. In an assembled position of the threaded connection assembly 200, the length direction of the opening 230 of the support structure 220 is perpendicular to the axial direction of the screw 100. The opening 230 of the support structure 220 includes a first linear edge or upper edge 232 and a second linear edge or lower edge 234 along its length direction. The support structure 220 further includes a linear toothed rack 240 formed on the first linear edge or upper edge 232 of the opening 230. In one or more other embodiments, the linear toothed rack 240 may be formed on the second linear edge or lower edge 234.
[0023] In the Fig. 2A-2C, the screw shaft 120 of the screw 100 engages the threaded bore 270 of the second assembly 260, while the circular gear 130 of the screw 100 engages the linear rack 240 at the opening 230 of the support structure 220. Upon rotating the screw 100 in a first direction, or clockwise, the screw shaft 120 of the screw 100 is further screwed into the threaded bore 270 of the second assembly 260 to further press the support structure 220 of the first assembly 210 against the second assembly 260. Simultaneously, the circular gear 130 of the screw 100 drives the linear rack 240 at the opening 230 of the support structure 220 to move in the direction indicated by the arrow 2B in Fig. 2B or by the arrow 2C in Fig. 2C to thereby move the first assembly 210 in the direction indicated by the arrow relative to the second assembly 260, thereby further tightening the first assembly 210 and the second assembly 260 in the direction indicated by the arrow.
[0024] When tightening the threaded connection assembly 200, the screw shaft 120 of the screw 100 is first passed through the opening 230 of the support structure 220 and aligned with the threaded hole 270 of the second assembly 260. The screw 100 is then rotated in the first direction, or clockwise, to threadably engage the screw shaft 120 of the screw 100 with the threaded hole 270 of the second assembly 260. At this time, only a portion of the screw shaft 120 of the screw 100 engages the threaded hole 270 of the second assembly 260. The circular gear 130 of the screw 100 does not engage the linear rack 240 on the opening 230 of the support structure 220, meaning that the screw 100 functions just like a regular screw without the circular gear 130.
[0025] As illustrated, the circular gear 130 occupies only a small portion of the length of the screw shank 120 at the base of the screw shank 120 of the screw 100. In one or more embodiments, the circular gear 130 occupies only about 1 / 5, about 1 / 8, about 1 / 10, or less of the length of the screw shank 120. As the screw 100 is gradually tightened, the circular gear 130 of the screw 100 begins to engage the linear rack 240 at the opening 230 of the support structure 220. Further tightening of the screw 100 causes the support structure 220 of the first assembly 210 to further press against the second assembly 260 in the axial direction of the screw 100. At the same time, the circular gear 130 of the screw 100 pulls the first assembly 210 and the second assembly 260 in the direction indicated by the arrow 2B in Fig. 2B or arrow 2C in Fig. 2C. In one or more embodiments, the direction of extension of the linear rack 240 (i.e., the direction indicated by arrow 2B in Fig. 2B or arrow 2C in Fig. 2C) perpendicular to the axial direction of the screw shaft 120 of the screw 100, so that the screw 100 is capable of tightening the first assembly 210 and the second assembly 260 both in the axial direction of the screw 100 and in another direction perpendicular to the axial direction. At the end of tightening the threaded connection assembly 200, the engagement or friction between the thread 122 on the screw shaft 120 of the screw 100 and the threaded hole 270 of the second assembly 260 prevents accidental loosening of the screw 100, thereby ensuring a reliable connection between the first assembly 210 and the second assembly 260.
[0026] In this way, the threaded connection assembly of the present invention can, when tightened, fasten the first assembly 210 to the second assembly 260 in two directions (i.e., in the axial direction of the screw 100 and in the extension direction of the linear rack 240 of the first assembly 210), thereby ensuring that even if some error exists in the first assembly 210 or the second assembly 260, an intimate connection between them in two directions can be achieved. In one or more embodiments, the circular gear 130 of the screw 100 is a helical gear with helical teeth whose radial dimension decreases from the screw head 110 to the screw shank 120. This helical gearing serves to reduce any shocks during the initial contact between the circular gear 130 and the linear rack 240.
[0027] The support structure 220 and the opening 230 of the first assembly 210 in Fig. 2B-2C are shown schematically. In one or more further embodiments according to the present invention, the support structure 220 of the first assembly 210 and the opening formed in the support structure 220 may have any suitable shape. For example, the support structure 220 of the first assembly 210 may have a different shape than that shown in Fig. 2B to 2C, provided that the screw 100 can pass through the opening 230 therein to fasten the support structure 220 (and thus the first assembly 210) to the second assembly 260. The opening 230 of the support structure 220 can also have a different shape than that shown in Fig. 2B-2C, provided that it has a first and a second linear edge which are opposite to each other and is further provided on the first or the second linear edge with a linear toothed strip which is matched to the circular gear 130 of the screw 100.
[0028] Fig. 3A to 3B show a threaded connection assembly 300 according to one or more embodiments of the present utility model, wherein Fig. 3A shows the threaded connection assembly 300 in an assembled position, while in Fig. 3B, the screw 100 has been removed to show the structures mating with the screw 100. The threaded connection assembly 300 includes a first assembly 310, a second assembly 360, and a screw 100. The first assembly 310 includes a first assembly body 312 and a support structure 320 fixedly connected to the first assembly body 312. The support structure 320, in turn, includes an opening 330 and a linear toothed rack 340 formed in the opening 330. The first assembly 310 also includes a first surface. The second assembly 360 includes a first surface and a second surface 364 that is perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the first surface. In the illustrated assembled position, the first surface of the first assembly 310 abuts and rests against the first surface of the second assembly 360.The screw 100 passes through the opening 330 of the support structure 320 of the first assembly 310 and thus establishes a threaded connection with a threaded bore 370 on the second surface 364 of the second assembly 360.
[0029] In the final stage of tightening the threaded connection assembly 300, a screw shaft (in Fig. 3A-3B not shown) of the screw 100 is threadably engaged with the threaded bore 370 of the second assembly 360, while a circular gear (in Fig. 3A-3B not shown) of the screw 100 engages in the linear toothed rack 340 of the support structure 320 of the first assembly 310. Thus, when the screw 100 is rotated in a first direction or clockwise, the threaded engagement of the screw shaft of the screw 100 with the threaded hole 370 of the second assembly 360 can achieve a fastening of the support structure 320 and thus of the first assembly 310 in the axial direction of the screw 100 to the second assembly 360. At the same time, the engagement of the circular gear of the screw 100 in the linear toothed rack 340 of the support structure 320 of the first assembly 310 causes a further abutment of the first surface of the first assembly 310 and the first surface of the second assembly 360 in the direction indicated by the arrow 3A in Fig. 3A shown direction.
[0030] In this way, even if there are some machining errors on the first assembly 310 and the second assembly 360, the threaded connection assembly 300 of the present utility model is capable of firmly and tightly connecting the first assembly 310 and the second assembly 360 in two directions.
[0031] In Fig. 4 illustrates a threaded connection assembly 400 according to one or more embodiments of the present invention. The threaded connection assembly 400 includes a first assembly 410, a second assembly 460, and a screw 100. The first assembly 410 includes a first assembly body 412 and two support structures 420 fixedly connected to the first assembly body 412. The support structures 420 each include an opening 430 and a linear toothed rack formed in the opening 430. The first assembly 410 further includes a first surface 416 and a circuit board connector 418 disposed on the first surface 416. The second assembly 460 includes a first surface 466 and a second surface 464 perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the first surface 466.In an assembled position of the threaded connection assembly 400, the first surface 416 of the first assembly 410 abuts and engages the first surface 466 of the second assembly 460, such that the printed circuit board connector 418 on the first surface 416 and a corresponding printed circuit board connector (not shown) on the second surface 466 abut each other. The screw 100 passes through the opening 430 of the support structure 420 of the first assembly 410, thereby establishing a threaded connection with a threaded bore 470 on the second surface 464 of the second assembly 460.
[0032] In the final phase of tightening the threaded connection assembly 400, a screw shank of the screw 100 is in threaded engagement with the threaded bore 470 of the second assembly 460, while a circular gear of the screw 100 engages with the linear toothed rack of the support structure 40 of the first assembly 310. Thus, when the screw 100 is rotated in a first direction, or clockwise, the threaded engagement of the screw shank of the screw 100 with the threaded bore 470 of the second assembly 460 can achieve fastening of the support structure 420, and thus of the first assembly 410, to the second assembly 460 in the axial direction of the screw 100.At the same time, the engagement of the circular gear of the screw 100 with the linear toothed rack of the support structure 420 of the first assembly 410 causes further abutment of the first surface 416 of the first assembly 410 and the first surface 466 of the second assembly 460 in the direction indicated by the arrow 4A in FIG. Fig. 4, thereby ensuring a reliable connection of the printed circuit board connector 418 on the first surface 416 to the corresponding printed circuit board connector on the first surface 466 (not shown).
[0033] In this way, even if there are some machining errors on the first assembly 410 and the second assembly 460, the threaded connection assembly 400 of the present utility model is capable of firmly and tightly connecting the first assembly 410 and the second assembly 460 in two directions.
[0034] In the Fig. 4, the first assembly 410 is an on-board panel assembly and the second assembly 460 is an on-board electronic device. In one or more embodiments, the on-board electronic device of the second assembly 460 comprises a metal housing (silver box) and an electronic device encapsulated in the metal housing. In one or more other embodiments, the first assembly 410 and the second assembly 460 may be any suitable electronic assemblies, such as on-board electronic assemblies. In the several embodiments shown, the corresponding components are interchangeable. For example, the Fig. 1 shown screw 100 for example in the Fig. 2A-2C, in which Fig. 3A-3B and in the embodiment shown in Fig. 4. Accordingly, the above description applies in connection with the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 also for the embodiments of Fig. 2A-2C, Fig. 3A-3B and Fig. 4. Similarly, the above description can be applied in connection with the embodiment of Fig. 2A-2C also for the Fig. 3A-3B and for the embodiment shown in Fig. 4, and vice versa. Analogously, the above description can be applied to the embodiment shown in Fig. 3A-3B also applies to the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 apply, and vice versa.
