Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to an unwinding and severing device for roll-wound web material, which device has a roll receiving body which is designed to rotatably receive a roll of the web material, and a severing edge arranged on the roll receiving body which is designed to sever a piece of the web material unwound from the roll.
[0002] Such unwinding and separating devices are used, for example, in the home and in the catering industry to separate packaging paper or film material, such as aluminum foil or plastic film, for packaging food from the roll and to separate it by tearing or cutting. The unwinding and separating device can be floor-standing, table-top, wall-mounted or hand-held. To use it, the roll of web material is inserted into the roll holder of the unwinding and separating device and the web material is unwound from the roll to the desired length and separated from the roll using the separation edge arranged on the roll holder. The user pulls the web material off the roll in an associated unwinding direction tangential to the roll and usually essentially perpendicular to the separation edge. To do this, the user grips the tool that is located after previously separating a piece or section. The free end of the web material remaining on the roll, which lies behind the cutting edge in the unwinding direction, is pulled forward in the unwinding direction over the cutting edge to the desired length.
[0003] A rolling and separating device of the generic type mentioned above is disclosed in the published patent application WO 2013 / 185853 A1.
[0004] The invention is based on the technical problem of providing an unwinding and separating device of the type mentioned at the outset, which offers further advantages over the above-mentioned prior art, in particular with regard to low manufacturing costs and / or improved functionality during operation.
[0005] The invention solves this problem by providing an unwinding and separating device with the features of claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are specified in the subclaims, the wording of which is hereby incorporated by reference into the description. This includes, in particular, all embodiments of the invention resulting from the combinations of features defined by the references in the subclaims.
[0006] The unwinding and separating device according to the invention has a guide and holding unit which is arranged behind the separating edge in an unwinding direction and is designed to guide web material unwound from the roll behind the separating edge and to hold it securely against moving back towards the roll.
[0007] In this way, the unwinding and severing device according to the invention makes it easier for the user to grasp the free end of the web material on the roll behind the severing edge. This is because the guide and holding unit holds this free end of the web material after the sheet of web material located in front of the severing edge has been severed, preventing it from moving back toward the roll. Such a backward movement of the free end of the web material toward the roll makes it difficult for the user to grasp the free end of the web material for the next unwinding and severing process. The unwinding and severing device according to the invention, equipped with this guide and holding unit, can also be manufactured with relatively little effort.
[0008] In a further development of the invention, the guide and holding unit has a first guide shaft and a second guide shaft, which are arranged in parallel to form an intermediate passing gap for the web material, as well as a holding device assigned to the passing gap, which holds the web material unwound from the roll behind the separating edge to prevent it from moving backwards out of the passing gap. This represents a structurally and functionally advantageous implementation of the guide and holding unit. The two guide shafts define the passing gap through which the web material pulled from the roll can pass. The holding device assigned to the passing gap holds the free end of the web material behind the separating edge in the area of the passing gap so that it cannot move backwards towards the roll or out of the passing gap. This makes it particularly convenient and functional for the user to grasp the free end of the web material for the next unwinding and cutting process.
[0009] In one embodiment of the invention, the two guide shafts are arranged one above the other transversely to the unwinding direction. This positioning of the two guide shafts relative to each other and relative to the unwinding direction contributes to an optimal unwinding and severing function of the device for the roll-wound web material. With appropriate orientation of the unwinding and severing device during use, for example, an upper of the two guide shafts can press with its weight against the lower guide shaft or against the intermediate web material in the passing gap, thereby supporting the function of the guide and holding unit in holding the web material in the passing gap.
[0010] In another embodiment of the invention, the retaining device comprises a retaining ring region that surrounds the first guide shaft and / or the second guide shaft along at least part of the length of the passing gap, is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the respective guide shaft, and has a surface that frictionally engages the web material. This represents a manufacturing-technologically and functionally advantageous implementation for the retaining device. Due to its surface that frictionally engages the web material in the passing gap, the retaining ring region is able to securely hold the web material against it moving backward out of the passing gap. The retaining ring region, or at least its said surface, can be made, for example, from a rubber material that provides this functionality.
[0011] In a further embodiment of the invention, the retaining ring region comprises at least one retaining ring which is mounted on the relevant guide shaft in a rotationally fixed manner and whose surface, which holds the web material frictionally, protrudes radially outwards beyond the relevant guide shaft. This represents a manufacturing-technologically and functionally advantageous implementation for the retaining ring region. The retaining ring(s) can be manufactured separately from the relevant guide shaft and mounted on the associated guide shaft. The preferably slight radial outward protrusion of the surface of the retaining ring(s), which interacts frictionally with the web material, beyond the associated guide shaft promotes the frictional interaction of the surface with the web material in the passing gap and thus securely holds the web material in the passing gap against moving back towards the roll.
[0012] In yet another embodiment of the invention, the respective guide shaft has an annular groove into which the retaining ring is inserted. This feature promotes secure attachment of the retaining ring(s) to the associated guide shaft and can optimize the retaining function of the retaining ring area. In particular, the annular groove allows the respective retaining ring to not protrude radially from the guide shaft with its entire ring material thickness, but rather to be accommodated by the guide shaft with a portion of its ring material thickness in the annular groove.
[0013] In a further development of the invention, the separating edge is arranged pointing upwards in the use position of the roll receiving body. This represents an orientation of the separating edge that is advantageous, for example, for designs of the unwinding and separating device that are positioned on a base, such as a table, during use. In this case, the user can pull the web material from the roll at its free end in a substantially horizontal unwinding direction and then separate it to the desired length by a downward movement on the separating edge. This enables optimal guidance of the web material from the roll through the passing gap and from there in a front-top direction to the separating edge for many applications.
[0014] In one embodiment of the invention, the passing gap is located at a height below the cutting edge when the roll receiving body is in the operating position. This can offer advantages in terms of the device's design and function. In this case, the web material is pulled from the roll from the passing gap diagonally upwards to the cutting edge and can be reliably cut off at the cutting edge with a slight downward movement.
[0015] In a further development of the invention, the cutting edge is formed by a knife-cutting bar that is inclined at an angle relative to a plane perpendicular to the unwinding direction, counter to the unwinding direction. This design of the cutting edge proves to be optimal with regard to convenient and reliable cutting of the piece of web material pulled from the roll. The angle of inclination is preferably in the range of approximately 5° to approximately 20°, e.g., approximately 15°.
[0016] In a further development of the invention, an operating knob is arranged on the first guide shaft or the second guide shaft. This feature further assists the user in easily grasping the free end of the web material behind the cutting edge. To do so, the user rotates the relevant guide shaft using the operating knob, allowing the free end of the web material to be moved forward out of the pass gap until the user can easily grasp it with their fingers.
[0017] An advantageous embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawings. These and other embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail below. In the drawings: Fig. 1 a perspective view of a rolling and cutting device according to the invention, Fig. 2 a perspective view of the unwinding and cutting device of Fig. 1 with a recorded roll of web material, Fig. 3 a detailed view of an area III in Fig. 2, Fig. 4 a top view of the unwinding and cutting device, Fig. 5 a side view of the unwinding and cutting device with the web material roll mounted, Fig. 6 a detailed view of an area VI in Fig. 5, Fig. 7 a side view of one of two guide shafts of a guide and holding unit of the unwinding and cutting device, Fig. 8 a detailed view of an area VIII in Fig. 7, Fig. 9 a plan view of a retaining ring of a retaining device of the guide and retaining unit and Fig. 10 a side view of the retaining ring of Fig. 9.
[0018] As can be seen from the figures, which illustrate an advantageous exemplary embodiment, the unwinding and cutting device according to the invention for roll-wound web material comprises a roll receiving body 1, which is designed to rotatably receive a roll 13 of the web material, and a severing edge 2 arranged on the roll receiving body 1, which is designed to sever a piece of the web material unwound from the roll 13, i.e., a sheet of the web material. Furthermore, the unwinding and cutting device comprises a guide and holding unit 3, which is arranged behind the severing edge 2 in an unwinding direction AB and is designed to guide web material unwound from the roll 13 behind the severing edge 2 and to hold it securely against movement back towards the roll 13.
[0019] The Fig. 1 and Fig. 4 show the roll receiving body 1 without the inserted roll 13, Fig. Figure 2 shows the roll receiving body 1 with the received or inserted roll 13. The web material can be of any type, in particular a paper or film material used for wrapping or packaging food in the catering industry, in households, and in grocery stores. The roll receiving body 1 can be made entirely or partially of a metal material, in particular stainless steel, or a plastic material, as required.
[0020] In advantageous embodiments, the guide and holding unit 3, as in the example shown, includes a first guide shaft 4 and a second guide shaft 5, which are arranged in parallel to form an intermediate passing gap 6 for the web material, as well as a holding device 7 assigned to the passing gap 6. The holding device 7 is designed to securely hold the web material unwound from the roll 13 behind the separating edge 2 against backward movement out of the passing gap 6.
[0021] In corresponding designs, the two guide shafts 4, 5 are arranged one above the other transversely to the unwinding direction AB, as in the example shown.
[0022] In the example shown, the roll receiving body 1 is designed in such a way that it is particularly suitable for being positioned on a table or other support during use. In the example shown, two U-shaped roll holders 14 are used to hold the web material roll 13, which are arranged on opposite inner sides of the roll receiving holder 1 and are open at the top, as can be seen in particular from the Fig. 1 and Fig. 4, so that the roll 13 can be inserted into the roll holder 14 from above.
[0023] As specifically from the Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 4, the roll receiving body 1 in the example shown is very simply designed as a substantially U-shaped receiving frame with a front area 1a and two opposite side cheeks 1b, 1c, on which the roll holders 14 are located, into which the roll 13 with a roll core 13a is rotatably inserted.
[0024] In advantageous embodiments, the retaining device 7, as in the example shown, has a retaining ring region 8 which surrounds the first guide shaft 4 and / or the second guide shaft 5 along at least part of the length of the passing gap 6 and is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the respective guide shaft 4, 5, wherein the retaining ring region 8 has a surface 9 which frictionally engages the web material. In the embodiment shown, the retaining ring region 8 is arranged exclusively on the first guide shaft 4, which is the lower one in this example. In alternative embodiments, it is provided on the other guide shaft 5 or on both guide shafts 4, 5.In preferred embodiments, as in the example shown, the retaining ring region 8 has the frictionally retaining surface 9 along its entire circumference; in alternative embodiments, it may also be sufficient if it has the frictionally retaining surface 9 only over a part of its circumferential length, e.g. in a plurality of circumferential regions which are separated from one another by different circumferential regions in which the frictionally retaining surface 9 is not formed.
[0025] In advantageous embodiments, the retaining ring region 8, as in the example shown, contains at least one retaining ring 81, which is mounted on the respective guide shaft 4, 5 in a rotationally fixed manner and projects radially outwards beyond the respective guide shaft 4, 5 with its surface 9, which holds the web material frictionally. In the example shown, the retaining ring region 8 contains nine retaining rings 81, ..., 89, which are preferably mounted equidistantly on the respective guide shaft 4. The retaining ring(s) 81 to 89 can, for example, be manufactured as suitable rubber rings. In alternative embodiments, a different number of retaining rings is provided, and / or the retaining rings are arranged at different distances from one another. The retaining ring region 8 can, for example, also consist of only one retaining ring, which surrounds the respective guide shaft 4, 5 over a sufficient axial length. As mentioned above with respect to the retaining ring region 8, each retaining ring 81, ..., 89 may have the frictionally engaging surface 9 along its entire circumferential length or only over a portion of its circumferential length.
[0026] In corresponding embodiments, as in the example shown, the respective guide shaft 4, on which the retaining ring(s) 81 to 89 are arranged, has an annular groove 10 for each retaining ring 81 to 89, into which the respective retaining ring 81 to 89 is inserted. Fig. 7 and Fig. 8, this respective annular groove 10 can be seen. Preferably, the respective annular groove 10 has inclined flanks which enclose an angle β between them, as in Fig. 8. The angle β can, for example, be in the range from approximately 80° to approximately 100°.
[0027] In corresponding implementations, the separation edge 2, as in the example shown, is arranged facing upwards in the operating position of the roll receiving body 1. In this case, the user can separate the piece of web material pulled from the roll 13 by a downward movement along the upwardly facing separation edge 2.
[0028] In advantageous embodiments, the passing gap 6, as in the example shown, is located in the position of use of the roll receiving body 1 at a height level below the separating edge 2, as can be seen from the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6. As can be further seen therefrom, in corresponding designs the web material is guided from the roll 13 initially in a direction diagonally downwards to the front to the passing gap 6 and from there diagonally upwards to the front to the separating edge 2 and then forwards beyond this.
[0029] In corresponding embodiments, the separating edge 2 is formed by a knife cutting strip 12, which is arranged inclined by an angle of inclination α relative to a plane NE perpendicular to the unwinding direction AB, opposite to the unwinding direction AB, as can also be seen in particular from the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6. It can be seen that this inclination of the knife-cutting bar 12 promotes optimal unwinding and cutting function of the device. The inclination angle α can be approximately 15°, for example, and is preferably in the range between approximately 5° and approximately 20°.
[0030] In alternative embodiments not shown, the knife-cutting bar 12 is oriented vertically upward, i.e., the angle of inclination α is zero, or the separation edge 2 is formed by a tear-off edge, which tears off the web material instead of cutting it. Such tear-off edges are known per se and therefore require no further explanation here.
[0031] In advantageous embodiments, an operating knob 11 is arranged on the first guide shaft 4 or on the second guide shaft 5. In the example shown, the operating knob 11 is arranged on the first, lower guide shaft 4, on which the retaining ring area 8 or the retaining ring(s) 81 to 89 are also located. By turning the operating knob 11 in the relevant direction of rotation, the user can advance the web material in the passing gap 6 so that the free end of the web material, which remains in the area between the passing gap 6 and the separating edge 2 after the last separating process, is advanced over the separating edge 2 and can thus be easily grasped by the user with his fingers.
[0032] The upper, second guide shaft 5 in the illustrated embodiment is preferably held transversely movable relative to the first, lower guide shaft 4 to a predeterminable extent, so that the passing gap 6 can be slightly widened, which can, for example, facilitate threading the free end of the web material into the passing gap 6 after inserting a new web material roll 13. In the illustrated example, elongated hole openings 15 are formed for this purpose in the side walls 1b, 1c of the roll receiving body 1, which allow the upper guide shaft 5 to move upwardly relative to the lower guide shaft 4.
[0033] As the illustrated and further embodiments explained above make clear, the invention provides an unwinding and severing device suitable for any roll-wound web material, and in particular for roll-wound paper and film material. Its specific guiding and holding unit facilitates handling for the user and offers a correspondingly high level of operating comfort, particularly with regard to grasping the free end of the web material to carry out the next unwinding and severing process. With these advantages, the device can be used particularly in the household sector and in the catering industry for paper and film material used for packaging or wrapping food.
