AI Technical Summary
Existing fastening systems fail to efficiently connect panels with different material thicknesses without additional elements, resulting in uneven surfaces and requiring multiple components for different thickness combinations.
An adjustable connecting bottle with a central fastening area and cranked legs of varying heights compensates for the height difference between panels, allowing a unified connection across different thicknesses.
Enables a flat surface connection of panels with varying thicknesses using a single component, eliminating the need for additional spacers or multiple fastening taps.

Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to an adjustable fastening bracket that connects several plate pair combinations consisting of two plates of different material thicknesses in such a way that one side of the plates forms a flat surface. A key feature of the invention is that a one-piece fastening bracket, due to its alignment, compensates for the height difference between several different plate pair combinations without the need for additional spacers, other elements compensating for the height difference, or other parts.
[0002] In its simplest form, the fastening bracket described here resembles a two-leg Z-profile, although the heights of the two legs of the profile are different. The difference between these two heights corresponds to the difference in the material thicknesses of the pairs of panels to be connected. Depending on how many different combinations of panel pairs the fastening bracket is to be used for, it can have different geometric shapes. Provided that there is sufficient space and a correct connection is possible at the connection points, the fastening bracket can have any number of legs and thus enable any number of connections of panel pair combinations with different panel thicknesses. The connection between the fastening bracket and the panels can be realized, for example, using screws, but also using other positive or non-positive connection types.
[0003] Currently, the simplest method involves joining two panels of equal thickness with a straight fastening plate, such as a connecting plate, so that both sides of the joined panels are level. If the panels to be joined have different thicknesses and lie on a flat surface, there will be a height difference between the panels on the other side, opposite the flat surface. If these panels are to be joined in such a way that the side of the panels opposite the connection point remains level, the fastening plate used to connect these panels must have a height adjustment feature to compensate for the difference between the two panel thicknesses.
[0004] This is usually achieved using a fastening bracket in the Z-profile, whereby the fastening bracket is usually connected to the panels to be fastened using a screw connection. Another option is to create the connection with a straight bracket and to compensate for the height differences resulting from the different panel thicknesses using spacers or similar. However, the aforementioned options can only compensate for the height difference of a combination of two panels with different material thicknesses. In order to be able to connect at least two pairs of panels with different material thicknesses as described above, the use of spacer sleeves of different heights or two Z-shaped fastening brackets with correspondingly different web heights would be necessary.
[0005] The invention presented here makes it possible to connect at least two combinations of plate pairs, in which the plates to be joined have different material thicknesses, in such a way that one side of the plates lies flush on one level.
[0006] A possible field of application of the invention underlying this invention is described in the following application example.
[0007] The components of a commercially available retrofittable changing table, which can be used to convert a chest of drawers into a changing table, generally consist of a front and rear base plate and two side panels. Usually, but not necessarily, all components of this changing table are made of the same material and have the same material thickness. However, the material thickness of the parts of the changing table which are to be connected to the chest of drawers often does not correspond to the material thickness of the chest of drawers parts which are to be connected. The connection with which a changing table is attached to a chest of drawers is usually located in an inconspicuous area on the underside of the changing table and is usually a screw connection. To attach the changing table to the chest of drawers, for example,The front base plate of the changing table attachment is connected to the protruding part of the chest of drawers' cover plate by a fastening tab located under the plates in such a way that the surface of the chest of drawers and that of the front base plate of the changing table attachment form a single surface, thus representing the flat lying surface of a changing table. If the base plate of the changing table attachment and the cover plate of the chest of drawers have the same material thickness, these parts can be connected with a simple straight tab. If the two plates have different material thicknesses, the connecting tab either needs a defined offset to bridge the height difference or, when using a straight tab, spacers that compensate for the difference in material thickness and enable the desired flat surface described above. If the same changing table is to fit on different chests of drawers that differ in material thickness from each other and from the changing table itself, different connecting plates or, if the same connecting plate is used, different elements to compensate for the differences in material thickness are required. The invention described here makes it possible to use the same changing table for different chests of drawers that differ in the material thickness of their cover panels.
[0008] The invention of a connecting strap described above can, however, also be applied to any application in which several plate pair combinations made of plates with different material thicknesses are to be connected to one another in such a way that one side of the connected plates is on the same level.
[0009] To connect two panels together, connecting tabs are often used. These are attached to one side of the panels. The connecting tabs are often attached using a screw connection or another type of connection, which means they are located in an inconspicuous area during normal use. This type of fastening is usually located on the underside of such panel joints.
[0010] If the thickness of the panels to be joined is the same and the fixing tab connecting the two panels consists of a simple flat body and is attached to the underside of the panels, the top side of the joined panels forms a flat surface.
[0011] If the two panels in the panel connection described above have different material thicknesses, the top surface of the connected panels will not form a flat surface under otherwise identical conditions, but will be characterized by a height difference in the form of a step corresponding to the difference in the material thicknesses of the two panels. If the two panels to be joined are to be connected in such a way that one side of the panel remains in the same plane despite the height difference, this is usually achieved using offset connecting straps or compensating spacers. If combinations of pairs of panels with different material thicknesses are to be connected in the manner described above, this is not possible without additional connecting elements.
[0012] The invention presented here solves the problem by means of an adjustable connecting strap which, depending on the geometric shape and orientation, can connect at least two plate pair combinations in such a way that a height difference caused by different material thicknesses of the plates is compensated and one side of the connected plates forms a flat surface.
[0013] The invention defined in claim 1 is based on the problem of creating a one-piece connection between several plate pair combinations, wherein the plates to be connected of at least two of these combinations have different material thicknesses.
[0014] This is achieved by a one-piece adjustable connecting strap consisting of a central fastening area and at least two cranked legs that are connected to the central fastening area via webs of different heights, thus forming two additional connecting areas.
[0015] This problem is solved by the features listed in the claims.
[0016] A one-piece connecting plate consists of a central fastening area and two or more legs connected to the central connecting area via webs of different heights, thus forming additional connecting surfaces. The height of the individual legs corresponds to the height difference of the panel pair combinations to be connected, which are to be connected by the connecting plate using screws or another connection method. Using the connecting plate described above, two or more panel pair combinations can be connected in such a way that the panel sides opposite the connection are in the same plane.
[0017] An embodiment of the invention is described with reference to Fig. 1 to Fig. 4 explained.
