AI Technical Summary
Conventional hose couplings on portable pumps are fixed at a specific angle due to thread manufacturing, limiting user preference for optimal positioning during operation, and cannot be adjusted post-assembly.
A connector that can be freely positioned at any angle and secured with clamping, union nut, or cotter pin, allowing for adjustable angular positioning and secure sealing, with straight or angled configurations.
Enables flexible angular adjustment of hose couplings for easier operation and secure sealing, accommodating user preferences and simplifying the coupling process.

Abstract
Description
[0001] Main claim: Connecting piece between pump housing and a hose coupling mounted on fire service portable pumps, characterized in that it can be freely positioned at any angle and is fixed during operation. Description:
[0002] The following refers to a connector that is connected to the pump housing of a portable pump and to which a coupling for a fire hose can be attached on the opposite side. This connector can be straight or angled.
[0003] The connecting piece can be designed as a single part or composed of several individual components ( Fig. 1, items 3 and 4). In the following, it will nevertheless be referred to as a connecting piece.
[0004] Conventional hose couplings are mounted horizontally on a portable pump, perpendicular to the water flow from the pump impeller. They are screwed onto a thread.
[0005] The hose coupling has lugs (see Fig. 1, Pos.1). The user prefers a certain angular position of the coupling lugs during operation, which simplifies coupling. The previous mounting position of the lugs results from the production of the external thread ( Fig. 1, Pos.5) on the portable pump and the internal thread of the screwed-on hose coupling ( Fig. 1, item 2).
[0006] The innovation is that the connector is loosely mounted on the pump thread. The hose coupling is then fully assembled on the opposite side. The preferred position of the lugs is adjusted. Only then is the first side fixed to the thread. This can be done by clamping ( Fig. 1, Pos. 4), or by a union nut, or by tension elements on the pump housing, or by a cotter pin. It can be removed at any time, allowing for subsequent adjustments.
[0007] The sealing on the pump side is done with a seal that seals securely regardless of the angular position.
[0008] It is possible to make the connector on the hose coupling side straight ( Fig. 2) or angled ( Fig. 3). Due to the free angular positioning, the inclination of an angled connector can be mounted in the desired direction. Preferably, it is oriented downwards to allow for easy coupling ( Fig. 5).
[0009] Currently, threaded fittings are available, either straight or as elbows, each with an internal and external thread. However, these cannot be freely positioned at any angle, as the final position after assembly depends on the thread manufacturing process.
