Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a handle for doors and windows, in particular it relates to a door handle with automatic return to the rest position.

[0002] Door handles are known to rotate between a rest position, in which the pawl is extended (door closed), and a working position, in which the pawl is retracted (door open). Rotation of the handle between the two positions actually activates the locking mechanism by moving the pawl between an extended position, in which it is designed to engage a corresponding recess in the fixed frame, and a retracted position, in which the pawl is retracted in the door lock and thus not engaged with the corresponding recess.

[0003] Common grips typically have an internal rest position return mechanism, which naturally makes them easier to use. This return mechanism is usually implemented using a spring.

[0004] Typically, this type of handle requires a large base to accommodate the spring mechanism and the screws that anchor it to the door.

[0005] The aim of the invention is to develop a handle that is more compact than the known ones and in particular does not require a base.

[0006] These and other objects are achieved by the handle according to the invention, the essential features of which are defined in the first of the appended claims. Further important features are defined in the dependent claims.

[0007] The features and advantages of the handle according to the invention will become more apparent from the following description of an embodiment given as a non-limiting example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: - Fig. Figure 1 is a sectional view of the handle according to the invention; - Fig. 2 an exploded view of the handle in Fig. 1 is; - Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the handle in a rest state; and - Fig. 4 is a sectional view of the handle in a working condition.

[0008] As shown in the figures, the handle 1 consists of a handle 10 intended to be grasped by the user in order to move the handle when opening or closing a door P to which the handle is operatively connected.

[0009] The handle is rotatable between a rest position in which the pawl is extended (door closed) and a working position in which the pawl is retracted (door open). Rotation of the handle between the two positions actually activates the locking mechanism by moving the pawl between an extended position, in which it is designed to engage a corresponding recess on the fixed frame, and a retracted position, in which the pawl is retracted in the door lock and thus not engaged with the corresponding recess.

[0010] The handle further includes a body 11 which is connected to the handle 10 in an angled form relative to it.

[0011] The body 11 of the handle is particularly designed so that it can be positioned along its own longitudinal axis X', which, in use, is parallel to the floor or perpendicular to the plane defined by the door. The handle is rotatable about this longitudinal axis X'.

[0012] The body 11 defines a housing 2 for a group of elements for anchoring the handle to the door frame and a group of elements for actuating the mechanism for opening and / or closing the door. The housing 2 provides a front part 20 designed to face the door and to contain at least the elements to be attached to the door, and a rear part 21 arranged further back inside the body 11, designed to accommodate at least the actuating elements.

[0013] The group of elements for anchoring the handle 1 to the door includes an anchor base 3, which has means for anchoring the handle to the door. These anchoring means include, for example, through holes 31 for screws 32 for fastening to the door profile F.

[0014] The holes 31 are arranged along their own longitudinal axis X'.

[0015] For this purpose, corresponding holes 320 are provided for inserting the screws 32.

[0016] The anchor base 3 is shaped so that it can be rotatably positioned in the housing 2, and in particular in the front part 20. Preferably, but not restrictively, the anchor base 3 has a substantially cylindrical shape and extends around its own longitudinal axis X'. The anchor base 3 also has a central longitudinal through-hole 30.

[0017] A first bushing 4, which is preferably, but not limited to, made of plastic, is inserted into the hole 30. The first bushing 4 has a central through-hole 40 arranged coaxially with the central hole 30 of the base 3.

[0018] Also inserted into the central hole 40 of the first bushing 4 is a sleeve 5 whose round shaft portion 51 with a circular cross-section is designed to rotate within the first bushing 4; the sleeve 5 further comprises a substantially square shaft 52 for connection to the rear part 21 of the housing 2 and an enlarged head 53 designed to bear against the base 3 through the first bushing 4.

[0019] The sleeve 5 also has a central through-hole 54 arranged coaxially with the through-holes 30 and 40, which define a receptacle 60. An actuating pin 6 of the lock penetrates the receptacle 60.

[0020] The actuating pin 6 is fitted in a rotationally fixed manner in the central through-hole 54 of the sleeve 5, so that the rotation of the handle causes the rotational movement of the actuating pin and at the same time the movement of the lock.

[0021] Furthermore, a transverse hole 70 is formed in the handle body and in the sleeve for inserting an adjusting screw 7 in order to lock the mutual position of the handle, sleeve and actuating pin.

[0022] The actuating pin 6 inserted into the sleeve penetrates it, ending in the main body of the handle, which at least partially influences the rear part 21 of the housing 2.

[0023] The handle further includes a second bushing 8, preferably but not limited to, made of a plastic material, suitable for coupling to the inner wall of the front part 20 of the housing 2; the second bushing 8 engages the group formed by base 3, first bushing 4, and sleeve 5.

[0024] Turning to a further aspect of the handle according to the invention, it includes spring return means arranged in the housing 2.

[0025] The spring return means comprise a spring 9. In a preferred solution, the spring 9 is of the torsion spiral type.

[0026] The spring 9 is housed in the housing 2 around the sleeve 5.

[0027] The base 3 includes a first projection 33 projecting along its longitudinal axis X'.

[0028] In the housing 2 and in particular in the front part 20, a second projection 201 is formed, which projects from the side wall of the front part of the housing 2 towards the housing interior.

[0029] The first projection 33 and the second projection 201 are aligned with each other in the handle rest state, while the rotation of the handle causes the two projections to move on a circular arc ( Fig. 3 and Fig. 4) move away from each other.

[0030] The spring 9 includes two extensions: a first extension 90 which engages with the first projection 33 and a second extension 91 which engages with the second projection 201.

[0031] In the handle resting position, the spring 9 is pre-tensioned with the extensions on their respective projections.

[0032] When the handle is turned, the second projection 201 rotates, pulling the second extension 91 of the spring 9 with it. When the handle is released, the spring returns the handle to its rest position.

[0033] If necessary, it is possible to provide a limit for the stroke of the rotating handle; in one embodiment, this limit is provided by a first projection 34 formed on the bushing 3, abutting against a second projection 202 formed in the housing 2 at a circumferential distance determined according to the rotational stroke to be obtained by the handle.

[0034] The handle may further comprise a third projection 203 immovably projecting from the inner wall of the housing 2 in a position substantially diametrically opposite the second projection 202.

[0035] In the event that the handle has a rotation opposite to that described above, it will be the third projection 203 that will bear against the first 34.

[0036] The configuration described above is therefore suitable for both left- and right-handed openings. The handle can therefore be used on left- or right-handed doors.

[0037] As can be seen from the above description, the handle achieves its intended goal by being compact and structurally simple. In fact, the handle has no additional base, but contains the entire door opening mechanism in the main body.

[0038] Thanks to the layout of its parts, it's also possible to take advantage of the fact that the entire body, including the rear part, accommodates the actuator pin. This allows the handle to be installed with actuator pins of different lengths.

[0039] The present invention relates to a handle for doors and windows and in particular to a door handle with automatic return to the rest position.

[0040] The present invention has been described with reference to preferred embodiments thereof. It is intended that further embodiments relating to the same inventive essence may exist, all of which fall within the scope of the claims listed below.
