Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a wallpapering aid, in particular for professionally wallpapering a room wall and / or a room ceiling with painter's fleece or wallpaper.

[0002] DE 20 2007 002 837 U1 and US Pat. No. 3,861,988 disclose mobile wallpapering aids that are either held by the user in their hands or attached to a carrying strap. Such wallpapering aids have not gained widespread acceptance in professional applications because the user must have both hands free to correctly position, smooth, and cut the wallpaper or painter's fleece. The mobile wallpapering aids known from the prior art do not allow the necessary freedom of movement. In particular, the wallpapering aids known from the prior art are not well suited for wallpapering both a wall and a ceiling.

[0003] It is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a wallpapering aid which, on the one hand, facilitates the wallpapering of a room wall and, on the other hand, the wallpapering of a room ceiling, whereby sufficient freedom of movement is provided for the user to correctly position, smooth out and cut the wallpaper or the painter's fleece.

[0004] This object is achieved by a wallpapering aid according to claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention can be found in the subclaims, the description and the drawings.

[0005] According to the invention, a wallpapering aid is provided for wallpapering a room wall in a wall wallpapering configuration and for wallpapering a room ceiling in a ceiling wallpapering configuration. The wallpapering aid according to the invention has a tubular container, at least one standing surface and two ladder support elements, wherein the container extends along a longitudinal direction and has a closable opening on at least one end face of the container through which a roll of painter's fleece or wallpaper can be inserted lengthwise into the container, wherein the container has a dispensing slot extending in the longitudinal direction, wherein painter's fleece or wallpaper can be manually pulled out from a roll of painter's fleece or wallpaper located in the container through the dispensing slot while unwinding the roll of painter's fleece or wallpaper, wherein the wallpapering aid in the wall wallpapering configuration can be placed with the at least one standing surface on a room floor in front of the room wall, and wherein the wallpapering aid in the ceiling wallpapering configuration can be detachably mounted on a ladder by means of the two ladder support elements.

[0006] The wallpapering aid according to the invention thus has two configurations: the wall wallpapering configuration is used for wallpapering a room wall and the ceiling wallpapering configuration is used for wallpapering a room ceiling. The ladder support elements are only required in the ceiling wallpapering configuration and are not mounted or removed for the wall wallpapering configuration. In both the wall wallpapering configuration and the ceiling wallpapering configuration, an operator has both hands free to position, smooth, and cut the painter's fleece or wallpaper with both hands. This enables faster and more efficient wallpapering, particularly in professional settings, and significantly reduces the required working time. The simple tubular design of the container with an opening at the front also makes the wallpapering aid easy to clean. The painter's fleece or wallpaper can be unrolled dry within the container by manually pulling the wallpaper or painter's fleece out of the dispensing slot. The length of the tubular container can be designed to accommodate common painter's fleece or wallpaper roll widths of 53 cm, 75 cm or 100 cm and can be made slightly longer accordingly. Opened rolls can be stored cleanly and dry in the device and transported for reuse elsewhere. Furthermore, there is no need to cut painter's fleece or wallpaper strips beforehand, which means wallpapering is faster, more precise and with less waste. To stick the painter's fleece or wallpaper to the wall or ceiling, the wall or ceiling is first coated with glue or paste so that the wallpaper or painter's fleece can be applied dry until it is attached to the wall or ceiling.

[0007] Optionally, the dispensing slot can be narrower than a roll of painter's fleece or wallpaper intended for use with the wallpapering aid. This means that the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll is not pulled out through the dispensing slot as a whole, but rather unrolls inside it when the painter's fleece or wallpaper is manually pulled out of the dispensing slot. However, the dispensing slot is preferably wide enough to allow fingers to reach through to initially grasp the wallpaper or painter's fleece. If the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll unrolls itself in the container, the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll can be grasped through the front opening and turned so that one end of the painter's fleece or wallpaper is pushed out of the dispensing slot.

[0008] Optionally, the dispensing slot can have rounded long sides to protect the painter's fleece or wallpaper from sharp edges when being pulled out. For example, each long side of the dispensing slot can be protected by a slotted tube surrounding the respective long side of the dispensing slot. The painter's fleece or wallpaper has sufficient clearance in the dispensing slot and is protected from sharp edges by the rounded long sides.

[0009] Optionally, the wallpapering aid can have at least one closure element for closing the closable opening on at least one end face of the container. The closure element extends at least partially into the container to such an extent that the closure element limits axial movement of the roll of painter's fleece or wallpaper in the container such that painter's fleece or wallpaper pulled out through the dispensing slot does not abut an axial end of the dispensing slot. In other words, the closure element extends further into the container than the axial end of the dispensing slot is from the end face of the container.

[0010] Optionally, the axial position of the locking element can be adjustable to accommodate different lengths of painter's fleece or wallpaper rolls. For example, if the common roll widths of painter's fleece or wallpaper rolls are 53 cm, 75 cm, or 100 cm, the dispensing slot can be longer than 100 cm, and different versions of the locking element can be used to match this. These extend into the container to different extents to appropriately limit the axial movement of the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll within the container. The axial position of the locking element is preferably adjusted so that the axial movement of the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll within the container is less than 1 cm, while the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll can still be unrolled with minimal friction.

[0011] Optionally, the closure element can be screwed into or onto the container. The container preferably has an external thread at the front opening, so that the closure element can be screwed onto it in the form of a cap. Alternatively, an internal thread in the container would also be conceivable, with the closure element being screwed into the container in the form of a plug.

[0012] Optionally, the container can be equipped with a closable opening and a corresponding locking element on both ends. This is particularly advantageous if you want to load the wallpapering aid with a new painter's fleece or wallpapering roller when one end of the container is inaccessible, for example, positioned in front of a wall or an object. The container can then be loaded with a painter's fleece or wallpapering roller from either end.

[0013] Optionally, the container can be cylindrical with a rounded inner cross-section. This is particularly advantageous for easy cleaning and allows the roll of painter's fleece or wallpaper to align itself lengthwise. Furthermore, this minimizes the risk of damage to the painter's fleece or wallpaper inside the container.

[0014] Optionally, the wallpapering aid can also feature a tool storage compartment located along one of the container's long sides. This tool storage compartment is particularly useful in the ceiling wallpapering configuration, as wallpapering often requires a spatula and a wallpapering knife, which the user needs to be able to quickly and easily access and grab, leaving both hands free as needed. A spatula is often too large to fit in a user's pocket. Unlike in a pocket, the wallpapering knife does not need to be secured when stored in the tool storage compartment, which shortens the work steps.

[0015] Optionally, the wallpapering aid can also be equipped with a carrying handle. This is particularly useful for ergonomic carrying. Furthermore, the wallpapering aid is particularly well-suited for transporting already used rolls of painter's fleece or wallpaper.

[0016] Optionally, the carrying handle can be formed through a recess in the tool storage compartment and integrated into the tool storage compartment. This is particularly advantageous because it eliminates the need for an additional component and does not increase the size of the wallpapering aid. Furthermore, the tool storage compartment is preferably always facing the user, so that the wallpapering aid can be easily grasped using the carrying handle integrated into the tool storage compartment.

[0017] Optionally, the at least one standing surface can be formed by two axially spaced-apart foot elements, each of which has a mounting receptacle for one of the two ladder support elements. Therefore, in the wall wallpapering configuration, the foot elements fulfill a function by providing the at least one standing surface on which the wallpapering aid can be placed on a room floor. In the ceiling wallpapering configuration, the mounting receptacles of the foot elements serve to secure the two ladder support elements for mounting the wallpapering aid to a ladder.

[0018] Optionally, the two ladder support elements can be angled and / or curved to mirror symmetry. This allows for a central and ergonomically advantageous positioning of the container in the ceiling wallpapering configuration.

[0019] Optionally, the two ladder support elements can be shaped to hold the container above a top rung of the ladder and offset from a user standing on the ladder. For example, the user can stand on a third rung from the top and lean their thigh against the top rung, with the container then being held in front of the user's hip by the correspondingly angled and / or curved ladder support elements.

[0020] Optionally, the two ladder support elements can each be equipped with elastic tensioning straps to grip a ladder leg under tension for securing the respective ladder support element. This allows for particularly simple, tool-free, and quick installation of the ladder support elements on the ladder.

[0021] Optionally, the two ladder support elements can each have a form-fitting shape for gripping a ladder leg, so that the two ladder support elements rest on a rung and at least partially grip the respective ladder leg. This ensures that the ladder support elements are mounted particularly securely to the ladder. Since professional ladder stands with standardized dimensions, for example, according to DIN EN 131, are preferred, the ladder support elements can have a corresponding fit, which could, for example, be U-shaped.

[0022] The invention is explained in detail below with reference to the accompanying figures. Fig. 1 an embodiment of the wallpapering aid according to the invention in the wall wallpapering configuration; Fig. 2 the embodiment of the wallpapering aid according to the invention in the ceiling wallpapering configuration; Fig. 3a the embodiment of the wallpapering aid according to the invention before loading with a painter's fleece or wallpaper roll; Fig. 3b shows the embodiment of the wallpapering aid according to the invention in the ceiling wallpapering configuration with spatula and wallpapering knife in the tool storage compartment; Fig. 4a a view from the front into a loaded container of the embodiment of the wallpapering aid according to the invention; Fig. 4b a schematic longitudinal view of the embodiment of the wallpapering aid according to the invention; Fig. 5 the embodiment of the wallpapering aid according to the invention with removed ladder support elements; and Fig. 6a-d various perspective views of the embodiment of the wallpapering aid according to the invention in the ceiling wallpapering configuration.

[0023] Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of the wallpapering aid 1 according to the invention in the wall wallpapering configuration. The wallpapering aid 1 stands on a room floor 3 in front of a room wall 5 to be wallpapered. The wallpapering aid 1 stands in front of the feet of an operator 7, who stands approximately an arm's length away from the room wall 5 to be wallpapered and faces it. The wallpapering aid 1 has a tubular container 9, which extends along a longitudinal direction L, which is aligned horizontally and parallel to the room wall 5 to be wallpapered. The container 9 has foot elements 11 on its underside, each of which forms a base 13 on its underside, with which the wallpapering aid 1 stands on the room floor 3. On its top side, the container 9 has a dispensing slot 15, through which painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 is dispensed from a painter's fleece or wallpaper roll 27 located in the container 9 (see Fig. 3a and Fig. 4a) is manually pulled out through the dispensing slot 15 while unwinding the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll 27. The application person 7 pulls the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 upwards as desired and places the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 as desired against the room wall 5, which has previously been provided with glue or paste, in order to adhere the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 to the room wall 5. First, the two upper corners of the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 are positioned and adhered, and then, with both hands, the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 is smoothed downwards onto the room wall 5. Once the entire length of painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 has been adhered, the bottom of the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 can be cut flush with the room wall 5 using a wallpaper knife 41 (see Fig. 3b) are cut off. For the next strip of painter's fleece or wallpaper 17, the wallpapering aid 1 is axially displaced accordingly in the longitudinal direction L. The container 9 is closed at both ends by screwed-on closure elements 19. By opening one of the two closure elements 19, the container 9 can be loaded with a new roll of painter's fleece or wallpaper 27, if necessary. On a radial side of the container 9, which faces the user 7, the wallpapering aid 1 has a tool storage compartment 20, in which the user 7 can store tools typically required, such as a spatula 39 and a wallpapering knife 41 (see Fig. 3b), can be put down briefly in order to have both hands free to place, smooth and cut the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 if necessary.

[0024] Fig. Figure 2 shows an embodiment of the wallpapering aid 1 according to the invention in a ceiling wallpapering configuration. In the ceiling wallpapering configuration, ladder support elements 21 of the wallpapering aid 1 are used, by means of which the wallpapering aid 1 can be mounted on a ladder 23. The ladder 23 is typically a professional painter's ladder with standardized dimensions, for example, according to DIN standard EN 131. The ladder 23 here is a freestanding ladder that can be accessed by the user 7 from both sides. Fig. 2, the user 7 stands on the third-highest ladder rung on an ascent side of the ladder 23 and leans their thighs against the top ladder rung in order to have a stable footing while still having freedom of movement for their hands. The wallpapering aid 1 is mounted on ladder legs 25 which are located on the side of the ladder 23 opposite the ascent side of the ladder 23. The ladder support elements 21 are shaped at a mirror-symmetrical angle to one another and are inserted with an upper section into the fastening receptacles of the foot elements 11 of the wallpapering aid 1. In a lower section, the ladder support elements 21 each have a U-shaped fit 24 for positively gripping the ladder legs 25, so that the two ladder support elements 21 are each supported on the second-highest ladder rung and at least partially grip the respective ladder leg 25 in a U-shape.The ladder support elements 21 each have elastic tensioning straps 26 above and below the fitting 24 in order to grip a ladder leg 25 under tension to secure the respective ladder support element 21. Overall, the ladder support elements 21 are shaped such that they hold the container 9 above the top rung of the ladder and offset from the user 7 standing on the ladder 23, at the height of the user 7's hips. The tool storage compartment 20 faces the user 7, just as in the wallpapering configuration.

[0025] The user 7 can pull the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 out of the dispensing slot 15 of the container 9 and place it on a ceiling 38 previously coated with adhesive or paste, smooth it, and cut it flush with a ceiling edge. The user 7 can temporarily place the tools required for this, such as a spatula 39 or wallpaper knife 41, in the tool storage compartment 20 to keep both hands free to position and smoothly paint the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17. The wallpapering aid 1 even allows the user to walk with the ladder 23 without having to descend from the ladder 23 if the user 7 places one leg between the ladder support elements 21 on the ladder side opposite the ascent side of the ladder 23.

[0026] Fig. 3a shows an embodiment of the wallpapering aid 1 with an open front before loading with a painter's fleece or wallpaper roll 27. The painter's fleece or wallpaper roll 27 is loaded through the open front of the container 9 in the longitudinal direction L, and a beginning 29 of the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 is grasped with the fingers through the dispensing slot 15 and pulled out through the dispensing slot 15. The long sides of the dispensing slot 15 are rounded off by slotted tubes 31 surrounding the long sides of the dispensing slot 15 in order to protect the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 from sharp-edged damage. The container 9 has an external thread 33 on the front opening, onto which the closure element 19 in the form of a closure cap can be screwed as soon as the container 9 is loaded with the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll 27.The closure element 19 extends further into the container 9 than an axial end 35 of the dispensing slot 15 is away from the front opening. As a result, the closure element 19 limits the axial movement of the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll 27 within the container 9 to such an extent that the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 cannot strike against the axial end 35 of the dispensing slot 15. The wallpapering aid 1 is preferably designed symmetrically with respect to a mirror plane running perpendicular to the longitudinal direction L, so that the opposite front side of the container 9 also has a closable opening which can be closed with a closure element 19 which projects far enough into the container 9 that the axial movement of the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll 27 is restricted to such an extent that the painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 also does not strike against the other axial end 35 of the dispensing slot 15. In . Fig. 3a also shows that the wallpapering aid 1 has a carrying handle 37, which is formed by a recess in the tool storage compartment 20 and as part of the tool storage compartment 20. This allows the wallpapering aid 1 to be carried ergonomically. Fig. 3b shows the wallpapering aid 1 in the ceiling wallpapering configuration, with the tool storage compartment 20 just filled with a spatula 39 and a wallpapering knife 41.

[0027] Fig. Figure 4a shows an interior view of the container 9 through a front opening. The container 9 is cylindrical with a round inner cross-section, with an inner diameter of the container 9 preferably being approximately 1.5 to 2.5 times the diameter of a designated painter's fleece or wallpaper roll 27. Fig. 4a, the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll 27 is arranged in the container 9 and the beginning 29 is already pulled out of the output slot 15. In Fig. 4b schematically illustrates how the closure elements 19 axially limit the movement of the painter's fleece or wallpaper roll 27 to such an extent that the extracted painter's fleece or wallpaper 17 cannot strike the axial ends 35 of the dispensing slot 15. In Fig. 4b also clearly shows the two foot elements 11 into which the ladder support elements 21 can be inserted.

[0028] Fig. Figure 5 shows a complete embodiment of a wallpapering aid 1 according to the invention, in which a spatula 39 is stored in the tool storage compartment 20 of the wallpapering aid 1. The ladder support elements 21, which are shaped mirror-symmetrically to one another and angled, are designed as separate components of the wallpapering aid 1 for use in the ceiling wallpapering configuration and in Fig. 5 is not currently mounted on the container 9. In the wallpapering configuration, the ladder support elements 21 are not used. The elastic tensioning straps 26 arranged above and below the U-shaped fitting 24 are designed as double tensioning straps with a grip ball 43 at the end, so that the grip ball 43 can be placed around the ladder leg 25 and pulled over a locking pin 45 under tension of the double tensioning strap. Fig. 6a-d shows the functionality of the tensioning straps 26 and the mounting of the wallpapering aid 1 on the ladder 23 in the ceiling wallpapering configuration.
