Abstract
Description
Background area
[0001] Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a vehicle pedal simulator and, in particular, to a vehicle pedal simulator that can provide a braking sensation. Description of the state of the art
[0002] Hydraulic systems are generally used for electronic brakes. Recently, with the advent of electric braking systems (brake-by-wire systems) and technologies for autonomous vehicles, the development of non-hydraulic braking systems has become necessary.
[0003] A pedal simulator is a component that is mounted on an electromechanical brake (EMB) or electronic brake booster and gives the driver a braking sensation produced by a conventional mechanical (hydraulic) brake.
[0004] Conventional pedal simulators use elastically deformable dampers to provide a braking feel similar to a hydraulic brake booster. However, to reproduce the smooth, continuous pressure-increase curve pattern without a turning point in all braking sections, as seen in a conventional hydraulic brake booster, the damper design would have to be complex, and a problem arises from the need to develop a new damper each time to meet different requirements. Therefore, there is a need to address these issues.
[0005] The prior art of the present disclosure is disclosed in Korean registered patent no. 10-2223847 (published on March 8, 2021, entitled “Pedal Simulator”). Summary

Detailed description
[0018] The following describes an embodiment of a vehicle pedal simulator according to the present disclosure with reference to the accompanying drawings. For the sake of clarity and expediency, the line thicknesses and sizes of the components shown in the drawings may be exaggerated in the following description. Furthermore, the terms used below are defined in light of their functions in the present disclosure and may vary depending on the intention of a user or operator or common practice. Therefore, these terms should be defined based on the content of the entire present application.
[0019] Fig. Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a state in which a pedal simulator of a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is mounted on a hanging-type pedal part.
[0020] With reference to Fig. 1. A pedal simulator 1 of a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present disclosure can be detachably mounted regardless of the type and shape of a pedal part 10, such as a hanging pedal part or an organ-type pedal part. Therefore, the pedal simulator 1 of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure can be modularized and easily assembled and mounted on the pedal part 10, such as a hanging pedal part or an organ-type pedal part, thereby enabling product standardization.
[0021] The pedal simulator 1 according to the embodiment of the present disclosure can be easily assembled by connecting a holder 140 provided in a housing 100 to a pedal part of the hanging type or a pedal part of the organ type by means of a coupling element 20, such as a screw or a nut.
[0022] Fig. Figure 2 is a perspective view showing the pedal simulator of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure viewed from one direction. Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the pedal simulator of a vehicle. Fig. 2. Viewed from a different direction, it shows Fig. Figure 4 is a perspective exploded view showing the pedal simulator of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure viewed from one direction, Fig. 5 is a perspective exploded view showing the pedal simulator of a vehicle from Fig. 4, viewed from a different direction, shows, and Fig. Figure 6 is a side cross-sectional view showing the pedal simulator of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0023] With reference to Fig. 2 to 6, the pedal simulator 1 of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure comprises a housing 100, a piston part 200, a damper part 300 and an elastic part 400, and a detailed description thereof is given as follows.
[0024] The housing 100 forms the entire exterior of the pedal simulator of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure and can support the piston part 200, the damper part 300, and the elastic part 400, which are described below. The housing 100 can comprise a first housing 110 and a second housing 120.
[0025] The first housing 110 has a defined length, and a first cavity 111 can be provided within the first housing 110. That is, the first housing 110 can be designed in a hollow form with a defined length. The piston part 200 can be movably received in the first cavity 111.
[0026] The first cavity 111 can guide a linear movement of a piston body 210, which is described below. An opening connected to the first cavity 111 can be provided on an outer surface of the first housing 110 (left side of Fig. 6).
[0027] The second housing 120 can be provided on one side of a longitudinal direction of the first housing 110 (right side of Fig. 6) The second housing 120 can be formed integrally within the first housing 110. The second housing 120 has a defined length, and a second cavity 121 can be provided within the second housing 120. That is, the second housing 120 can be formed in a hollow shape with a defined length.
[0028] The second cavity 121 can be connected to the first cavity 111. The diameter of the second cavity 121 can be smaller than the diameter of the first cavity 111. A piston rod 230, described below, can be inserted into the second cavity 121. Furthermore, a nut 250, described below, can be movably mounted in the second cavity 121. Therefore, the second cavity 121 can accommodate the linear movement of the piston rod 230, to which the nut 250 is connected.
[0029] A support 122 for supporting the elastic part 400 can be provided in the second housing 120. The support 122 can be designed such that it is stepped in a connecting section between the first housing 110 and the second housing 120. In other words, the support 122 can be designed so that it is bent into the housing 100.
[0030] The elastic part 400 can sit on the support 122. The support 122 can support the elastic part 400 in such a way that the elastic part 400 is compressed by pressing the piston part 200.
[0031] The housing 100 can be detachably connected to the pedal section 10, such as a suspended pedal section or an organ-type pedal section. The bracket 140 connected to the pedal section 10 can be provided within the housing 100. The bracket 140 can be shaped so that it protrudes from the outer surface of the housing 100. A plurality of brackets 140 can be arranged within the housing 100 so that they are spaced apart from one another.
[0032] A hole 141 can be provided in the bracket 140. The hole 141 can be shaped such that it passes through the bracket 140 in a thickness direction. The bracket 140 is connected by a coupling element 20, such as a screw or a nut, to a coupling hole formed in the pedal part 10, so that the housing 100 can maintain a stable connection with the pedal part 10 and rotation of the housing 100 can be prevented.
[0033] A sensor 130 can also be provided in housing 100. The sensor 130 can be attached to an outer surface of the first housing 110. The sensor 130 can be electrically connected to a vehicle control unit (not shown) and can detect the position of a magnet 240, which is described below.
[0034] The piston part 200 can be movably arranged in the housing 100. The piston part 200 can comprise a piston body 210, a piston pressure part 220, a piston rod 230, a nut 250 and a support plate 260.
[0035] The piston body 210 can be arranged within the first housing 110. The piston body 210 can be received in the first cavity 111. In other words, the piston body 210 can be movably received in the first cavity 111.
[0036] The piston body 210 can be formed in a plate shape with a defined thickness. The diameter of the piston body 210 can be larger than the diameter of the second cavity.
[0037] A sphere 211 can be provided in the piston body 210. The sphere 211 can be configured to protrude from an outer surface of the piston body 210 relative to the piston pressure part 220. The sphere 211 can be located in the center of the piston body. A bushing 221 of the piston pressure part 220 can be connected to the sphere 211.
[0038] The piston pressure part 220 can be mounted on one side of the piston body 210 (a left side of Fig. 6) be arranged. The piston pressure part 220 can be mounted on the piston body 210. In other words, the piston pressure part 220 can be mounted on the ball 211.
[0039] The piston pressure part 220 can be exposed through an opening in the housing 100. The piston pressure part 220 can move in one direction (a clockwise direction). Fig. 6) move when an external force is applied.
[0040] The piston pressure part 220 can be rotatably connected to the piston body 210 in a hinged manner. In other words, the bushing 221 provided in the piston pressure part 220 can be rotatably connected to the ball 211 provided in the piston body 210.
[0041] The piston body 210 can be riveted to the piston pressure part 220. For example, by pressing the opening of the bushing 221 towards the piston body 210 and riveting the opening, the piston pressure part 220, when moved by an external force, can maintain a state in which the piston pressure part 220 is rotatably connected to the ball 211. The piston body 210 can be riveted into the piston pressure part 220 to reduce assembly time and costs.
[0042] The piston rod 230 can be arranged on the other side of the piston body 210 (right side of Fig. 6) In other words, the piston rod 230 can be formed on the outer surface of the piston body 210 in the direction of the second housing 120.
[0043] The piston rod 230 can be extended from the center of the piston body 210 towards the second housing 120 to a defined length. The piston rod 230 can be designed in a rod shape with a circular cross-section. The diameter of the piston rod 230 can be smaller than the diameter of the piston body 210.
[0044] The diameter of the piston rod 230 can be smaller than the diameter of the second cavity 121. The piston rod 230 can be movably received in the first cavity 111 and in the second cavity 121.
[0045] A plurality of damper parts 300 can be mounted on the piston rod 230. The piston rod 230 can pass through the plurality of damper parts 300.
[0046] A spiral thread can be formed on an end section of the piston rod 230 that points in the direction of the second housing 120. The spiral thread can be formed on an outer circumferential surface of the piston rod 230. The nut 250 can be connected to the end section of the piston rod 230.
[0047] The magnet 240 can be provided in the piston part 200. The magnet 240 can be provided on an outer circumferential surface of the piston body 210. The magnet 240 can be injection molded with the piston body 210 to be integrally formed within the piston body 210.
[0048] The magnet 240 can be configured in a circumferential direction of the piston body 210. Therefore, the position of the magnet 240 can be detected independently of the mounting position of the sensor 130 mounted on the housing 100.
[0049] Magnet 240 can measure position information of the piston part 200. Magnet 240 is a magnet with a magnetic force, and when moved together with the piston part 200, magnet 240 can transmit a pedal force exerted by the piston part 200 or the position information of the piston part 200 to the vehicle control unit via sensor 130 by means of a change in the magnetic field.
[0050] The nut 250 can be spirally connected to the end section of the piston rod 230. The nut 250 can be coupled to the piston rod 230 and can prevent the majority of the damper parts 300 mounted on the piston rod 230 from separating in an axial direction of the piston rod 230. The nut 250 can be movably received in the first cavity 111.
[0051] The support plate 260 can be in the form of a plate and have an opening in its center through which the piston rod 230 can pass. The support plate 260 can be mounted on the piston rod 230. The support plate 260 can be arranged between the majority of damper parts 300 and the nut 250. The elastic part 400, which sits on the support 122, can elastically support the support plate 260.
[0052] A projection 261 can be provided on the support plate 260. The projection 261 can be formed on an outer surface of the support plate 260 that points in the direction in which the elastic part 400 is arranged. The projection 261 can extend from an edge of the support plate 260 to a defined length and be formed in a circumferential direction of the support plate 260.
[0053] The projection 261 can be formed in a hollow shape, the interior of which is empty. The inner diameter of the projection 261 can be larger than the outer diameter of the elastic part 400. When the support plate 260 is moved towards the elastic part 400 by pressing the piston part 200, and then the elastic part 400 is pressed, the elastic part 400 can thus be received inside the projection 261. Depending on the movement of the piston part 200, the projection 261 may or may not be in contact with the support 122.
[0054] The damper part 300 can be mounted on the piston part 200. The damper part 300 can be provided as a plurality of damper parts 300. The plurality of damper parts 300 can be mounted on the piston rod 230. The plurality of damper parts 300 can be stacked in the axial direction of the piston rod 230 in such a way that they pass through the piston rod 230 to surround it.
[0055] The majority of damper parts 300 can be arranged between the piston body 210 and the support plate 260.
[0056] The majority of damper parts 300 can each be designed in a hollow form, the interior of which is empty. An opening can be provided at both end sections of the damper part 300, which connects to an interior space of the damper part 300. The opening can be formed in the center of the damper part 300. Therefore, the piston rod can pass through the center of the damper part 300.
[0057] The majority of damper parts 300 can move together with the piston part 200 and be elastically deformed according to the movement of the piston part 200. If the projection 261 of the support plate 260 is supported by the support 122 in a direction of movement of the piston part 200, the majority of damper parts 300 can be pressed between the piston body 210 and the support plate 260.
[0058] When the piston body 210 is moved towards the second housing 120 by an external force exerted on the piston pressure part 220, the piston rod 230 can be inserted into the second cavity 121 and the projection 261 of the support plate 260 can be supported by the support 122, so that the damper part 300 can be pressed between the piston body 210 and the support plate 260.
[0059] Fig. Figure 7 is a perspective view showing a first damper part in the pedal simulator of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure, Fig. Figure 8 is a side cross-sectional view of Fig. 7, Fig. Figure 9 is a perspective view showing a second damper part in the pedal simulator of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure, and Fig. Figure 10 is a side cross-sectional view of Fig. 9.
[0060] With reference to Fig. According to the embodiment of the present disclosure, the damper part 300 can comprise a first damper part 310 and a second damper part 320. The first damper part 310 can comprise a first plate 311 and a first damper element 312.
[0061] The first plate 311 can be in a plate shape and comprise a metal material. The first plate 311 can be in contact with the piston body 210. The first plate 311 can be pressed against the piston body 210. A first damping element 312 can be provided on the first plate 311.
[0062] The first damping element 312 can comprise an elastically deformable material. The first damping element 312 can comprise an elastically deformable material such as rubber, silicone, or plastic. The first damping element 312 can be integrally formed with the first plate 311. The first damping element 312 can be injection-molded into the first plate 311.
[0063] A first hook 311a can be provided in the first plate 311. The first hook 311a can be shaped such that it protrudes from an outer surface of the first plate 311 in contact with the first damping element 312.
[0064] The first hook 311a can project towards the first damping element 312 and be formed along an inner circumferential surface of the first plate 311, and an end section can be bent towards an inner circumferential surface of the first damping element 312 in order to be inserted into an inner surface of the first damping element 312. Therefore, the first damping element 312 can be hooked and secured to the first hook 311a to be firmly attached to the first plate 311.
[0065] The second damper part 320 can include a second plate 321 and a second damper element 322.
[0066] The second plate 321 can be in the form of a plate containing a metal material. The second plate 321 can have a diameter and thickness corresponding to those of the first plate 311. The second plate 321 can be in contact with the first damping element 312. The second plate 321 can be pressed against the first damping element 312. The second damping element 322 can be provided on the second plate 321.
[0067] The second damping element 322 can contain an elastically deformable material. The second damping element 322 can contain an elastically deformable material such as rubber, silicone, or plastic. The second damping element 322 can be integrally molded onto the second plate 321. The second damping element 322 can be injection molded into the second plate 321. The second damping element 322 can be in contact with the support plate 260. The support plate 260 can be pressed against the second damping element 322.
[0068] A second hook 321a can be provided in the second plate 321. The second hook 321a can be shaped such that it protrudes from an outer surface of the second plate 321 in contact with the second damping element 322.
[0069] The second hook 321a can project towards the second damping element 322 and be shaped along an inner circumferential surface of the second plate 321, and an end section can be bent towards an inner circumferential surface of the second damping element 322 in order to be inserted into an inner surface of the second damping element 322. Therefore, the second damping element 322 can be hooked onto the second hook 321a and fastened to be securely attached to the second plate 321.
[0070] The first damping element 312 and the second damping element 322 can have different diameters. The outer diameter of the first damping element 312 can be smaller than the outer diameter of the second damping element 322.
[0071] The first damping element 312 and the second damping element 322 can have different thicknesses. The thickness of the first damping element 312 can be less than the thickness of the second damping element 322.
[0072] The first damping element 312 and the second damping element 322 can have different hardnesses. For example, the first damping element 312 can be made of a soft material with a hardness lower than that of the second damping element 322, or the second damping element 322 can be made of a soft material with a hardness lower than that of the first damping element 312.
[0073] The elastic part 400 can elastically support the piston part 200 in the first housing 110. In other words, the elastic part 400 can elastically support the piston part 200 in the first cavity 111.
[0074] One side of the elastic part 400 (the right side of Fig. 6) can be in contact with support 122, and the other side of it (the left side of Fig. 6) can be in contact with the outer surface of the support plate 260. In other words, one side of the elastic part 400 can sit on the support 122, and its other side can sit on the outer surface of the support plate 260. The elastic part 400 can exert an elastic force on the piston body 210, which is moved by an external force exerted on the piston pressure part 220.
[0075] The elastic part 400 can be compressed between the support plate 260 and the support 122 by pressing the piston body 210, which is moved by the external force exerted on the piston pressure part 220.
[0076] The compressed elastic part 400 can exert an elastic force (elastic restoring force) on the piston body 210 to return the piston body 210 to its original position. The elastic part 400 can include a helical spring.
[0077] When the elastic part 400 is compressed, it prevents the majority of damper parts 300, which are arranged between the piston body 210 and the support plate 260, from being compressed and deformed by the elastic force of the elastic part 400. In other words, the majority of damper parts 300 are not compressed and deformed until the elastic part 400 reaches its compression limit, and the majority of damper parts 300 can be compressed and deformed after the projection 261 of the support plate 260 is supported on the support 122.
[0078] The pedal simulator 1 of a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may further comprise a holder 500.
[0079] A slotted hole 101 can be provided in the housing 100. The slotted hole 101 can be configured to extend through an outer circumferential surface of the first housing 110. The slotted hole 101 can comprise a first slotted hole 101a and a second slotted hole 101b, which is positioned on a side opposite the first slotted hole 101a.
[0080] The holder 500 can be ring-shaped with one end open. The holder 500 passes through the first slotted hole 101a, a free end of the holder 500 is inserted into the second slotted hole 101b, and thus the holder 500 can be connected to the first housing 110.
[0081] The holder 500 can prevent the piston part 200 from being separated in an axial direction through the opening in the first housing 110 by interfering with the piston pressure part 220.
[0082] An operating process of the pedal simulator of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure, which is formed from the configuration described above, is described as follows.
[0083] Fig. Figure 11 is a cross-sectional view showing an operating state of the initial braking of the pedal simulator of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure, and Fig. Figure 12 is a cross-sectional view showing an operating state of the medium and late braking of the pedal simulator of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0084] With reference to Fig. 11 When the piston pressure part 220 is pressed by an external force, the piston rod 230 is moved together with the piston body 210 in the direction of the second housing 120.
[0085] When the piston body 210 is moved, the elastic part 400 is compressed and deformed by pressing the support plate 260, and the projection 261 of the support plate 260 comes into contact with the support 122. When the elastic part 400 is compressed, a user may feel an initial braking sensation.
[0086] The position of the magnet 240, which is moved by the piston part 200, is detected by the sensor 130, and the sensor 130 transmits position information or pressure information of the piston part 200 to the vehicle control system according to a change in the magnetic field.
[0087] With reference to Fig.12. When an external force is continuously applied to the piston pressure part 220, the majority of damper parts 300, which move together with the piston rod 230, are compressed between the piston body 210 and the support plate 260. When the majority of damper parts 300 are compressed, the user may experience a sensation during mid- and late-stroke braking.
[0088] The position of the magnet 240, which is moved by the piston part 200, is detected by the sensor 130, and the sensor 130 sends the position information or the pressure information of the piston part 200 to the vehicle control according to the change in the magnetic field.
[0089] When the external force exerted on the piston pressure part 220 is released, the compressed elastic part 400 exerts an elastic force (elastic restoring force) on the piston body 210 to return the piston body 210 to its original position.
[0090] The pedal simulator 1 of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure can adjust a pedal force by changing the diameters, thicknesses and hardnesses of the plurality of damper parts 300.
[0091] According to the pedal simulator 1 of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure, a standardization for different types of pedal parts 10 can be achieved by modularization, which can be applied independently of the type and shape of the pedal part 10, so that the repair and replacement costs of the pedal simulator 1 can be reduced and productivity improved.
[0092] According to the pedal simulator 1 of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure, a pedal return spring can be omitted by the elastic part 400 elastically supporting the piston part 200.
[0093] According to the pedal simulator 1 of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present disclosure, a pedal stroke can be measured by the magnet 240, which is integrally provided in the piston part 200.
[0094] According to the present disclosure, there is an action that is able to adjust a pedal force by changing the diameters, thicknesses and hardnesses of a plurality of damper parts.
[0095] Although the present disclosure has been described with reference to the embodiments shown in the drawings, these embodiments are merely illustrative and it should be understood that those skilled in the art may derive various modifications and equivalent other embodiments from them. Accordingly, the true technical scope of the present disclosure should be determined by the accompanying claims. QUOTES INCLUDED IN THE DESCRIPTION
