Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a cushion for packaging.
[0002] In many cases, it is necessary to transport components, for example for machines or vehicles, from a manufacturing site or warehouse to an assembly site. Suitable transport containers are available for smaller components. However, this is not possible or not efficient for bulky components. To prevent damage during transport, for example from a warehouse to an assembly hall, foamed plastic padding is usually glued to certain parts of the components being transported. However, such foams, which are made from polymers, are environmentally questionable. In addition, they are usually disposed of after a single use, with no possibility of recycling.
[0003] The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a cushion for packaging which has a better ecological balance.
[0004] To achieve this object, a cushion for a packaging having the features of claim 1 is provided.
[0005] The cushion according to the invention comprises a base body which has either a plurality of layers of corrugated cardboard or honeycomb cardboard glued to one another, wherein a first side of the base body is provided with a plurality of cuts or scores which extend over a part of the thickness of the base body, wherein on a second side of the base body opposite the first side at least one adhesive film or an adhesive film is applied which is covered with a release film.
[0006] The cushion according to the invention is capable of replacing conventional cushions made of polymers. The invention is based on the discovery that a cushion can be produced by bonding several layers of corrugated cardboard or honeycomb cardboard. This base body is then provided with cuts and / or scores so that the cushion can be bent at this point. The bendable cushion can thus be adapted to differently shaped surfaces. The multiple cuts or scores enable flexible use with components that differ in shape and size. The other side of the base body, on which there are no cuts, is provided with an adhesive film or an adhesive film covered with a release film.
[0007] Before use, the release liner is removed, allowing the pad to be adhered to the component to be protected using the adhesive or glue film. The cuts or notches allow the pad to be applied to any shaped component surface. In particular, the pad can be attached to a curved or arched surface. Multiple pads can be used for a single component to protect different surfaces. Once the component is protected by the pads, it can be transported from a warehouse to an assembly site, for example, without the risk of damage.
[0008] Because the cushioning material of the invention is made of corrugated or honeycomb cardboard, it can be easily recycled. Compared to foamed plastics, the cushioning material has a significantly better environmental impact.
[0009] Within the scope of the invention, a base body comprising corrugated cardboard can be provided either with horizontal corrugated cardboard running perpendicular to the thickness direction, or with vertical corrugated cardboard running along the thickness direction. Vertical corrugated cardboard is characterized by particularly high compressive strength. The height or thickness of the cushion can be selected as required.
[0010] Alternatively, the cushion according to the invention can be provided with a base body comprising honeycomb cardboard having honeycombs that run either perpendicular to the thickness direction or along the thickness direction. Honeycomb cardboard with a low height can withstand particularly high compressive loads. The height or thickness of the honeycomb cardboard can also be adapted to different requirements.
[0011] In the cushion according to the invention, it is preferred that the cuts or incisions be straight. A cushion designed in this way can be curved and adapted to a specific surface particularly easily.
[0012] It is particularly preferred that the cuts or incisions be arranged so that they intersect. With this configuration, the cushion can be curved biaxially and adapted to a curved surface.
[0013] It is also within the scope of the invention for cuts or scoring to be made on the first side of the base body, which run along a first direction, as well as cuts running along a second, perpendicular direction. Such a cushion is particularly easy to bend and can be used in a variety of ways.
[0014] It is also advantageous if the cuts are placed in such a way that they do not cross each other, in particular they can run parallel to each other.
[0015] The cushion according to the invention is particularly easy to handle if the cuts or scratches are made parallel to the edges of the base body.
[0016] With the cushion according to the invention, care must be taken to ensure that the cuts have a defined depth in the thickness direction. Preferably, the cuts extend through all layers except the last layer. This lowest layer, where the film is located, is not cut and ensures the cohesion of the base body. Preferably, all cuts are made at the same depth.
[0017] Regarding the release liner, it is preferred that the release liner be a silicone film. The silicone film can be easily removed from the adhesive or bonding film before the pad is applied to the surface of a component to be protected.
[0018] Preferably, the adhesive film or the adhesive film is strip-shaped.
[0019] It can also be provided that several, preferably spaced-apart, strips of adhesive film or adhesive foil are attached to the second side of the base body. These films ensure secure adhesion of the pad to the component to be protected. When the pad is no longer needed, it can be easily removed along with the film. The surface of the component to be protected remains intact.
[0020] The invention is explained below using exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawings. The drawings are schematic representations and show: Fig. 1 shows a schematically illustrated cushion according to the invention for a packaging; Fig. 2 the opposite side of the cushion from Fig. 1; Fig. 3 the top of the cushion in the curved state; Fig. 4 Corrugated board formed as a standing wave; and Fig. 5 Honeycomb cardboard, whose honeycombs run along the thickness direction.
[0021] The Fig. 1 and Fig. The cushion 1 shown in Figure 2 comprises a base body 2, which is composed of several layers 3 of corrugated cardboard glued together. In the illustrated embodiment, the base body 2 is formed as a cuboid. Fig. 1 visible side of the cushion 1 is hereinafter referred to as the top side 4, which in Fig. 2 visible opposite side is the bottom 5.
[0022] In Fig. 1 it can be seen that the upper side 4 of the base body 2 is provided with a plurality of cuts 6 which, in this exemplary embodiment, run along a first direction X (transverse direction) and along a second direction Y (longitudinal direction) perpendicular thereto. The cuts 6 extend in the thickness direction Z through all layers 3 except for a last or lowest layer 7, which is located on the underside 5. The lowest layer 7 has no cuts. The cushion 1 is cut crosswise and can be curved or bent along the cuts 6 about an axis parallel to the transverse direction X or the longitudinal direction Y. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the corrugated cardboard forming the base body 2 is designed with a horizontal flute which runs perpendicular to the thickness direction Z.
[0023] In Fig. 2 shows that on the underside 5 there are two strips of adhesive film 8, which extend the entire length of the cushion 1 and are arranged parallel to each other. The adhesive film 8 is covered with a silicone film as a release film.
[0024] Fig. 3 shows the upper side 4 of the cushion 1 in the curved state. The intersecting cuts 6 running in the transverse direction X and the longitudinal direction Y divide the upper side 4 into a plurality of rectangles or squares arranged in rows and columns. The cohesion of the cushion 1 is ensured by the lowest, uncut layer 7 on the underside 5 of the cushion 1. The cuts 6 make it possible to curved the cushion 1 about an axis parallel to the transverse direction X or the longitudinal direction Y. In the illustrated embodiment, the cushion 1 is curved about the longitudinal direction Y. This creates a wedge-shaped gap 9 between each two adjacent rows of rectangles on the upper side 4. The opening width of the individual gaps 9 can be influenced by curving the cushion 1 to a greater or lesser extent. Adjacent gaps 9 can have the same or different widths.
[0025] The curved cushion 1 can be adapted to curves and curved surfaces, allowing its underside 5 to be placed flat against a curved object. For example, the cushion 1 can be attached to any curved vehicle body part. To do this, the release liner is removed from the adhesive film 8, and the cushion 1 is pressed onto the body part with its underside 5. A body part or other component to be protected can be provided with several such cushions 1, which are secured by the adhesive film. Optionally, the cushion 1 or several cushions can be protected with an additional layer of corrugated cardboard.
[0026] When cushion 1 is no longer needed, for example, when the component to be protected has been transported to the assembly site, it can be removed without leaving any residue. Since cushion 1 is made almost entirely of corrugated cardboard, it is almost entirely recyclable.
[0027] Fig. Figure 4 schematically shows a base body 10 consisting of several layers 11 of corrugated cardboard of the "standing wave" type, which extends along the thickness direction Z and is suitable for high compressive loads. In the illustrated embodiment, the thickness direction Z runs perpendicular to the plane of the drawing.
[0028] Fig.Figure 5 alternatively shows a base body 12 made of honeycomb cardboard. Honeycomb cardboard consists of corrugated layers that are offset from one another by half a wavelength, resulting in a honeycomb structure. The honeycomb cardboard has a paper layer 13, 14 on the underside and top side. The thickness direction Z also runs perpendicular to the plane of the drawing in this embodiment.
