Integration of enterprise voicemail in mobile systems

An integrated voicemail system is described that provides “visual voicemail” that overcomes the shortcomings associated with a user having to dial into a voicemail system and navigate through a menu of options using conventional voice and / or standard DTMF signaling-based browsing capabilities. The visual voicemail instead provides, via a client device of the user's choice, a visual presentation of a user's voicemails along with state information of the voicemails. The visual presentation of the voicemails includes a user interface that allows a user to control or manipulate voicemails from the client device, where the manipulation includes playing, pausing, rewinding, fast-forwarding, deleting, and changing a state of each voicemail. The visual voicemail also eliminates the need for a user to periodically call-in to the enterprise voicemail system in order to check for voicemail messages as the messages can be automatically delivered to the user's client device.

Drilling wellbores with optimal physical drill string conditions

A drilling system includes a control unit and a bottomhole assembly (BHA) coupled to a drill string. The control unit uses measurements from sensors distributed throughout the drill string and BHA to determine the physical condition of the drill string and BHA and to determine whether drilling can be optimized. The drill string sensors are housed in receiver subs and optionally can be positioned on extensible members. The receiver sub also can include a short-hop telemetry module, a processor module, and a clock module. In one embodiment, the receiver subs include seismic sensors for enabling vertical seismic profiling. During operation, the processor visually presents to the operator via one or more graphical user interfaces a dynamically updated pictorial image representing the drilling system. The image is annotated with an appropriate visual signal to indicate a determined physical condition at a given location or component. The processor can also display recommended adjustments to drilling parameters for increasing drilling rates, improving tool life, and more precise steering.

Method and system for modifying the visual presentation and response to user action of a broadcast application's user interface

A method and system for modifying the look and feel of a user interface of a broadcast application program without altering the broadcast application program. In one embodiment, user interfaces are represented as a hierarchical scene including a background and several components. Within an electronic network, broadcast applications can become resident, e.g., land, on a vendor's device within the network where the device has the ability to display a user interface. The present invention provides a set of mattes that can be used to modify the visual presentation of the user interface of a broadcast application without altering the broadcast application. In this way, the vendor of the device can have some level of control regarding the way in which user interfaces are displayed on the device. Each matte controls the way in which an associated component of the user interface is displayed and how the component is combined with other components. In one embodiment, mattes can force components to become semi-transparent thereby creating certain fading effects, special effects with respect to windows in focus, special effects on windows becoming iconified, wiping effects, etc., with respect to the components of the user interface. The present invention can be implemented as a set of application programming interfaces (APIs) which can be used by an application manager of the vendor's device, e.g., a digital television receiver. The APIs would be available to broadcast applications and could be used for visual effects involving elements of an application's user interface.

Systems and methods for digital document processing

Systems that employs an adaptable front end for determining a file-type to associate with the output from a source application and for processing the output, as a function of the file type, to generate a display list that is representative of objects and shapes that represent components within the visual presentation of the data. The display list is then processed by a rendering engine, which may be located on an embedded device. The rendering engine processes the components contained within the display list to render an image of the source application's output that may be presented on the display of the device. As will be described below, the adaptable front end determines the file structure of the source being processed, thereby providing a device that may operate with a plurality of different file types, and source applications.

Method and system for managing and closing a real estate transaction

ActiveUS7353183B1Quickly scroll and “ pageData processing applicationsGantt chartVisual presentation
A computer implemented, interactive method and system for assisting real estate agents and their clients in managing and closing a real estate transaction. The invention includes the computer system's generation of a Gantt Chart which automatically tracks the entire real estate transaction, simultaneously providing each agent with the same visual presentation, on their own computer display device, of a description and status of each task to be performed by both agents in order to close the purchase and sale of a property. The Gantt Chart displays each task in a column on each agent's display device and adjacent to each task is a horizontal schedule bar which may contain at least one status indicator which indicates the status of its associated task. A document access indicator is also displayed as an icon adjacent to each task which involves the preparation and delivery of a real estate document. The agent selects the icon in order to display a desired document on the display device, and when the document is completed and delivered the Gantt Chart is automatically updated to indicate that the status of the task has changed. The Gantt Chart also provides each agent with access to a list of vendors to perform a task involving the utilization of a vendor service. As the agent and the selected vendor interact, the Gantt Chart is automatically updated to indicate the current status of obtaining the desired vendor service. When all tasks have been completed, the computer system achieves the complete history of the transaction and generates a pre-closing report. The system also provides each agent with the ability to simultaneously monitor and perform tasks for multiple transactions.

Spatially-correlated multi-display human-machine interface

A human-machine interface involves plural spatially-coherent visual presentation surfaces at least some of which are movable by a person. Plural windows or portholes into a virtual space, at least some of which are handheld and movable, are provided by using handheld and other display devices. Aspects of multi-dimensional spatiality of the moveable window (e.g., relative to another window) are determined and used to generate images. As one example, the moveable window can present a first person perspective “porthole” view into the virtual space, this porthole view changing based on aspects of the moveable window's spatiality in multi-dimensional space relative to a stationary window. A display can present an image of a virtual space, and an additional, moveable display can present an additional image of the same virtual space.
