Description

Technical area

[0001] The invention relates to the technical field of chargers, particularly to a charger with a novel structural design to solve the problem that the charger requires a storage space for the folded plug, which increases the volume. The charger of the invention has a foldable plug and is compact. At the same time, the foldable charger exhibits a stable electrical contact effect. State of the art

[0002] Chargers have appeared since the popularity of electronic devices. They were originally simple power converters, converting alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) for use by devices. They have a simple structure but a single function. As the demand for portable devices has increased dramatically, chargers have become more sophisticated and divided into different types, such as fast chargers, designed for direct connection to electrical outlets; desktop chargers, typically equipped with multiple outputs to charge multiple devices simultaneously; and wireless chargers, which use electromagnetic induction technology for a more convenient charging method. The foldable charger is a product that offers advantages in terms of portability and space optimization. Because the plug can be folded, the charger is more compact when not in use. However, the existing foldable charger still needs a lot of improvements in structure and performance design.

[0003] In the existing foldable charger, the plug is usually designed to be contained in the main body when folded. Therefore, sufficient space must be reserved in the main body. In order to meet this design requirement, the size of the main body must be increased, which results in the overall volume becoming too large, so that the design goal of a compact shape is difficult to achieve, especially in the application with high requirement for portability. In addition, many foldable chargers also have deficiencies in the design of the current conducting mechanism between the plug and the internal circuit components. For example, the electrically conductive structure often cannot supply stable current due to poor contact or reduces electrical conductivity, which may even lead to safety problems such as power interruption or component damage. These problems not only reduce user satisfaction but also negatively impact product reliability and longevity.

[0004] For this reason, based on his many years of experience in related industries, the inventor aims to design and propose a foldable charger with a new structural design to effectively eliminate the many deficiencies in the structural design and performance of existing chargers. Object of the invention

[0005] The objective of the invention is to provide a foldable charger that utilizes a completely new structural design, making the charger foldable while simultaneously offering the advantages of a compact form factor for greater portability and convenience. Furthermore, it can ensure stable electrical contact during use, thus improving overall performance and the user experience.

[0006] This object is achieved by the foldable charger of the invention, comprising: a device body comprising: a housing having a first side and a mounting portion, wherein the mounting portion is located on the first side and is provided with a mounting hole communicating with the interior of the housing; a circuit board assembly disposed in the housing and having at least one charging socket, wherein the charging socket is exposed on the surface of the housing;a bracket pivotally connected to the mounting portion, one end of the bracket being located within the housing, while the other end extending through the mounting hole and protruding from the mounting portion, the bracket being rotatable relative to the mounting portion parallel to the first side or perpendicular to the first side, the end of the bracket located within the housing having a pair of first contact parts, and the end protruding from the mounting portion having a pair of second contact parts; and a pair of circuit board contact springs mounted on the circuit board assembly and serving to contact the pair of first contact parts of the bracket to close the circuit when the bracket is rotated perpendicular to the first side 101;and a connector assembly mounted on the mounting portion and located in a state parallel to the first side or perpendicular to the first side according to the rotation of the bracket, including: an inner cover covering the mounting portion and having a first recess corresponding to the mounting hole; a pair of adapter contact springs symmetrically mounted on one side of the inner cover and forming clamping portions; a pair of electrically conductive fasteners arranged corresponding to the pair of adapter contact springs, one end of the pair of electrically conductive fasteners being passed through the pair of adapter contact springs and the inner cover and connected to the pair of second contact parts, and the other end being in contact with the pair of adapter contact springs;and a plug having an outer cover and a contact pin set, the outer cover covering the inner cover and having a second recess corresponding to the first recess, the contact pin set protruding from the outer cover, the end of the contact pin set forming a pair of third contact parts within the outer cover, and the pair of third contact parts passing through the clamping portions and being clamped and fixed by the clamping portions. This allows the function of the foldable plug assembly to be realized while the charger has a compact shape, making it convenient to carry. Furthermore, a special mechanism design can effectively improve the stability of the power line.

[0007] Preferably, the foldable charger further comprises an axle rod leaf spring and a cover plate arranged in the housing, wherein the bracket has a pair of legs and an axle rod, wherein the pair of legs are arranged symmetrically, wherein the axle rod is arranged between the pair of legs and extends vertically to the pair of legs, wherein the axle rod has a first concave guide surface and a second concave guide surface, wherein the first concave guide surface and the second concave guide surface are arranged adjacent to each other, wherein the pair of first contact parts and the pair of second contact parts are located at the two ends of the pair of legs, wherein the cover plate is mounted in the housing and is located on one side of the axle rod, wherein the axle rod leaf spring is arranged on the cover plate and is located between the axle rod and the cover plate, wherein the axle rod leaf spring has a convex arc portion,When the bracket is parallel to the first side, the convex arc portion abuts the first concave guide surface, and when the bracket is perpendicular to the first side, the convex arc portion abuts the second concave guide surface. When the user rotates the connector assembly parallel or perpendicular to the first side, the connector assembly can slide and be positioned automatically.

[0008] Preferably, the cover plate is fixed in the housing by screws to increase the stability of the entire mechanism against the spring force of the axle rod leaf spring.

[0009] Preferably, the clamping sections each comprise a pair of clamping pieces arranged in a mirror-image manner, with the pair of clamping pieces having a pitch that gradually decreases toward the inner cover. Therefore, the pair of third contact parts can be clamped stably.

[0010] Preferably, the mounting portion is provided with at least one protruding rib, and the inner cover has at least one positioning hole. When the connector assembly is brought into the state perpendicular to the first side by rotation of the bracket, the protruding rib engages the positioning hole. This allows the connector assembly to be more reliably fixed in the state perpendicular to the first side, preventing the connector assembly from being displaced due to collision.

[0011] Preferably, the pair of electrically conductive fasteners are screws and are screwed to the pair of second contact parts. This increases the structural stability and the stability of the power line.

[0012] Preferably, in order to increase the stability of the entire structure of the connector, the inside of the outer cover is provided with at least a first fitting portion and the outside of the inner cover is provided with at least a second fitting portion, wherein the outer cover and the inner cover are assembled by the first fitting portion and the second fitting portion, wherein the first fitting portion and the second fitting portion are formed by recess and projection which fit into each other.

[0013] Preferably, the foldable charger further comprises a retractable charging cable, the exterior of the housing being provided with a receiving recess, the retractable charging cable being arranged in the housing and having one end located inside the housing and electrically connected to the circuit board assembly, and the other end located outside the housing and having a charging plug received in the receiving recess. This can improve the convenience of use of the foldable charger.

[0014] Preferably, the charging connector is selected from one or a combination of the specifications of USB-A, Mini USB, Micro USB, USB Type-C or Lighting to meet the charging requirements of different electronic devices.

[0015] Preferably, the charging port will be selected from one or a combination of USB-A, Mini USB, Micro USB, USB Type-C, or Lightning specifications. This allows the foldable charger to offer broad compatibility and expand the adaptability and functionality of the charger.

[0016] In summary, the foldable charger of this invention offers the advantages of a compact form factor, thanks to the special folding structure and the design of the current-conducting path, making it easy to carry. In terms of power conduction, the foldable charger also has excellent stability and reliability, effectively overcoming the shortcomings of conventional chargers that are prone to unstable power conduction due to poor contact. Furthermore, the present invention also proposes numerous other technical features, the details of which and the corresponding achievable effects are described in the above paragraphs. Ways to implement the invention

[0017] To enable those with ordinary skill in the art to clearly understand the contents of this invention, drawings are attached to the following descriptions. The structural dimensions, proportions, sizes, shapes, or application states shown in the individual drawings are merely illustrative of the technical features of this invention. They do not represent the actual structural design.

[0018] Fig. 1 to 5 show an exploded view of the foldable charger of the preferred embodiment of the invention, an exploded view from another viewing direction, sectional views (1) and (2), a partial perspective view, and a partial perspective view from another viewing direction, a perspective view of the foldable charger of another embodiment. The invention provides a foldable charger 9 comprising a device body 1 and a connector assembly 2. The device body 1 has a housing 10, a circuit board assembly 11, a bracket 12, and a pair of circuit board contact springs 13. The housing 10 has a first side 101 and a mounting portion 102. The mounting portion 102 is located on the first side 101 and is provided with a mounting hole 1021 communicating with the interior of the housing 10.Preferably, the housing 10 consists of a lower cover 108 and an upper cover 109. The lower cover 108 is box-shaped and forms a peripheral side and a bottom side. The first side 101 is the bottom side of the lower cover 108. The lower cover 108 mainly serves to accommodate various components. The upper cover 109 is plate-shaped and covers the opening of the lower cover 108. The circuit board assembly 11 is arranged in the housing 10 and has at least one charging socket 111. The charging socket 111 is exposed on the surface of the housing 10. In the above-mentioned structure of the housing 10 with the lower cover 108 and the upper cover 109, the charging socket 111 may be exposed on the peripheral side of the lower cover 108. However, the invention is not limited to this. According to usage requirements, the charging socket 111 may also be exposed on the upper cover 109.The charging socket 111 is selected from one or a combination of the specifications USB-A, Mini USB, Micro USB, USB Type-C, or Lighting. The number of charging sockets 111 can be one or more. For example, . Fig. 1. The structure has one charging socket 111, and the charging socket 111 has a USB Type-C specification. If the number of charging sockets 111 is multiple, the charging sockets 111 can have the same or different specifications. Fig. Figure 5 shows the structure with two charging ports 111. The charging ports 111 all have USB Type-C specifications. Charging ports 111 with different specifications will be described in detail later.

[0019] The bracket 12 of the device body 1 is hinged to the mounting portion 102. One end of the bracket 12 is located in the housing 10, while the other end extends through the mounting hole 1021 and protrudes from the mounting portion 102. The bracket 12 can be rotated relative to the mounting portion 102 parallel to the first side 101 or perpendicular to the first side 101. The end of the bracket 12 located in the housing 10 has a pair of first contact parts 121. The end protruding from the mounting portion 102 has a pair of second contact parts 122. The bracket 12 is the main structure for rotating the connector assembly 2.

[0020] More specifically, the bracket 12 can be mounted from the inside of the housing 10, i.e., it is passed through the mounting hole 1021 from the inside of the housing 10 and pivotally connected to the mounting portion 102 such that one end of the bracket 12 protrudes from the mounting portion 102 and the other end is located in the housing 10. In one embodiment, the pair of first contact parts 121 and the pair of second contact parts 122 of the bracket 12 are formed by the ends of two electrically conductive pins 6 protruding from the legs 123 and penetrating the legs 123. Since the first contact part 121 and the second contact part 122 are essentially formed by the two ends of the same component, the reliability of the current conduction of the first contact part 121 and the second contact part 122 can be increased.Since the bracket 12 is essentially made of a non-conductive material, the above structure can effectively facilitate the manufacturing process. Furthermore, the bracket 12 can exhibit good insulation performance, and the pair of first contact parts 121 and the pair of second contact parts 122 can exhibit excellent electrical conductivity.

[0021] The pair of circuit board contact springs 13 are mounted on the circuit board assembly 11 and serve to contact the pair of first contact parts 121 of the holder 12 to close the circuit when the holder 12 is rotated perpendicular to the first side 101. In particular, the circuit board assembly 11 can be provided with through holes to facilitate the mounting of the pair of circuit board contact springs 13. The pair of circuit board contact springs 13 forms the main component that transmits the current from the connector assembly 2 to the circuit board assembly 11.Depending on the mounting and application requirements, the pair of printed circuit board contact springs 13 may further be provided with a hook structure A to facilitate stable mounting on the printed circuit board assembly 11, and form a contact portion B with elastic force for the pair of first contact pieces 121 to generate a counterforce when it comes into contact with the pair of first contact pieces 121, thereby increasing the contact reliability with the pair of first contact pieces 121. That is, the contact portion B is a structure that can elastically vibrate at the through hole of the printed circuit board assembly 11.

[0022] The connector assembly 2 is mounted on the mounting portion 102. The connector assembly 2 is in a state parallel to the first side 101 or perpendicular to the first side 101 according to the rotation of the bracket 12. The connector assembly 2 includes an inner cover 20, a pair of adapter contact springs 21, a pair of electrically conductive fastening elements 22, and a connector 23.

[0023] The inner cover 20 covers the mounting portion 102 and has a first recess 201 corresponding to the mounting hole 1021. The pair of adapter contact springs 21 are symmetrically mounted on one side of the inner cover 20 and form clamping portions 211. The pair of electrically conductive fasteners 22 are arranged corresponding to the pair of adapter contact springs 21. One end of the pair of electrically conductive fasteners 22 is passed through the pair of adapter contact springs 21 and the inner cover 20 and connected to the pair of second contact parts 122. The other end is in contact with the pair of adapter contact springs 21. The pair of electrically conductive fasteners 22 can increase the contact stability between the pair of second contact parts 122 of the holder 12 and the pair of adapter contact springs 21 to maintain good contact of the entire current-conducting path. The inner cover 20 can prevent the pair of adapter contact springs 21 from being exposed when the plug assembly 2 is rotated to the state parallel to the first side 101, thereby avoiding the risk of electric shock due to accidental contact by small children, thus effectively increasing product safety. The plug 23 has an outer cover 231 and a contact pin set 232. The outer cover 231 covers the inner cover 20 and has a second recess 2311 corresponding to the first recess 201. The contact pin set 232 protrudes from the outer cover 231. The end of the contact pin set 232 inside the outer cover 231 forms a pair of third contact parts 2321. The pair of third contact parts 2321 pass through the clamping portions 211 and are clamped and fixed by the clamping portions 211.The clamping portions 211 can create a firm clamping action when the pair of third contact pieces 2321 is inserted, so that the pair of third contact pieces 2321 cannot easily detach from the clamping portions 211. This can ensure good contact between the contact pin set 232 and the adapter contact springs 21. The plug assembly 2 is a component for plugging into a socket. The current received from the socket flows through the third contact pieces 2321 of the contact pin set 232, the pair of adapter contact springs 21, the pair of second contact pieces 122, the pair of first contact pieces 121, and the pair of circuit board contact springs 13 to the circuit board assembly 11, and is then supplied to the electronic device through the charging socket 111 of the circuit board assembly 11 to perform charging. The part of the contact pin set 232 protruding from the outer cover 231 may be based on the usage requirements of the foldable charger 9, for example, the European specification of Type C or Type F, the American specification of Type A or Type B, the British specification of Type G, etc., to meet local voltage, frequency and safety requirements.

[0024] In summary, the foldable charger 9 can achieve the effect of eliminating the need to reserve space in the charger case 1 for storing the connector assembly 2, effectively keeping the overall volume of the foldable charger 9 compact. Due to the bracket 12 and the mounting portion 102, the connector assembly 2 can be easily rotated into the state perpendicular to the first side 101 during use or into the state parallel to the first side 101 for folding, thus making it convenient to carry. Furthermore, due to the structure of the bracket 12, the pair of circuit board contact springs 13, the pair of adapter contact springs 21, and the pair of electrically conductive fixing members 22, a current conducting path with a highly stable contact state can be formed. This avoids the problem that rotation of the bracket 12 and the connector assembly 2 causes the components to loosen and shift, resulting in poor contact. Therefore, the reliability of the charger is significantly increased.

[0025] In a preferred embodiment, the foldable charger 9 further comprises an axle rod leaf spring 3 and a cover plate 4. The bracket 12 has a pair of legs 123 and an axle rod 124. The pair of legs 123 are arranged symmetrically. The axle rod 124 is arranged between the pair of legs 123 and extends vertically to the pair of legs 123. The axle rod 124 has a first concave guide surface 1241 and a second concave guide surface 1242. The first concave guide surface 1241 and the second concave guide surface 1242 are arranged adjacent to one another. The pair of first contact parts 121 and the pair of second contact parts 122 are located at the two ends of the pair of legs 123. The cover plate 4 is mounted in the housing 10 and is located on one side of the axle rod 124. The axle rod leaf spring 3 is arranged on the cover plate 4 and is located between the axle rod 124 and the cover plate 4.The leaf spring 3 has a convex arc portion 31. When the bracket 12 is parallel to the first side 101, the convex arc portion 31 abuts the first concave guide surface 1241. When the bracket 12 is perpendicular to the first side 101, the convex arc portion 31 abuts the second concave guide surface 1242. The first concave guide surface 1241 and the second concave guide surface 1242 of the axle rod 124 in conjunction with the convex arc portion 31 of the leaf spring 3 allow the connector assembly 2 to be automatically positioned when it is perpendicular to the first side 101 or parallel to the first side 101. This allows the user to determine whether the rotation reaches the correct position for use or storage. In particular, when the user rotates the connector assembly 2 so that it is perpendicular to the first side 101, the axle rod 124 rotates about its centerline. When the connector assembly reaches nearly perpendicular to the first side 101, the convex arc portion 31 can quickly slide into the second concave guide surface 1242, thereby abutting against each other, thus achieving positioning. The same applies when the connector assembly 2 is rotated so that it is parallel to the first side 101. When the connector assembly reaches nearly parallel to the first side 101, the convex arc portion 31 can quickly slide into the first concave guide surface 1241, thereby abutting against each other, thus achieving positioning. The cover plate 4 can produce a pressing and fixing effect on the axle rod leaf spring 3 to prevent the connector assembly 2 from being loosened or deflected during rotation due to the spring force of the axle rod leaf spring 3.

[0026] In addition, the cover plate 4 is fixed in the housing 10 by screws, which improves the assembly strength of the cover plate 4 and the housing 10, thereby increasing the load capacity for the spring force of the axle rod leaf spring 3, so that the stability of the overall structure is maintained.

[0027] In one embodiment, the clamping portions 211 of the pair of adapter leaf springs 21 each have a pair of clamping pieces 2111 arranged in a mirror-image manner. The pair of clamping pieces 2111 has a pitch that gradually decreases toward the inner cover 20. More specifically, the pair of clamping portions 211 can create a stable mounting strength for the pair of third contact parts 2321. Due to the above-mentioned structure of the clamping portion 211 with the pair of clamping pieces 2111, the clamping portion 211 can have a tapered opening. After the pair of third contact parts 2321 passes through the pair of clamping portions 211, the pair of clamping portions 211 can generate a barb-like fastening action through the pair of clamping pieces 2111, whereby the pair of clamping portions is less likely to detach from the pair of adapter leaf springs 21, so that good contact between components on the current-conducting path is maintained.

[0028] In order to stably hold the connector assembly 2 when rotated perpendicular to the first side 101 into the use state, to prevent the connector assembly 2 from bending due to accidental collision with the first side 10, the mounting portion 102 is provided with at least one protruding rib 1022. The inner cover 20 has at least one positioning hole 202. When the connector assembly 2 is brought into the state perpendicular to the first side 101 by the rotation of the bracket 12, the protruding rib 1022 engages the positioning hole 202. In this way, the connector assembly 2 can be more reliably fixed in the state perpendicular to the first side 101, thus improving the stability of the overall structure.

[0029] Considering the assembly stability of the pair of adapter contact springs 21 and the pair of second contact parts 122, the pair of electrically conductive fixing members 22 may be screws that can be screwed to the pair of second contact parts 122, so that the pair of adapter contact springs 21 reliably contacts the pair of second contact parts 122, thus realizing excellent electrical transmission stability.

[0030] On the other hand, in order to ensure better assembly stability between the inner cover 20 and the outer cover 231 and to prevent the connector assembly 2 from coming loose during rotation, it is preferable that the inner side of the outer cover 231 be provided with at least one first fitting portion 2312 and the outer side of the inner cover 20 be provided with at least one second fitting portion 203. The outer cover 231 and the inner cover 20 are assembled by the first fitting portion 2312 and the second fitting portion 203. The first fitting portion 2312 and the second fitting portion 203 are formed by a recess and a projection that fit into each other. In this way, the outer cover 231 and the inner cover 20 can have solid structural strength and stability. In this embodiment, the number of the first fitting portion 2312 and the second fitting portion 203 are both two.The first fitting portions 2312 and the second fitting portions 203 are arranged symmetrically. The first fitting portions 2312 are protrusions, and the second fitting portions 203 are recesses. However, this is only a preferred example, and the invention is not limited thereto.

[0031] Fig. 6 shows a perspective view of the foldable charger of yet another embodiment of the invention. In this embodiment, the foldable charger 9 further includes a retractable charging cable 5. The exterior of the housing 10 is provided with a receiving recess 103. The retractable charging cable 5 is arranged in the housing 10 and has one end located inside the housing 10 and electrically connected to the circuit board assembly 11, and the other end located outside the housing 10 and having a charging plug 50 received in the receiving recess 103. This allows the system to offer a wider range of applications and allows the user to use the foldable charger 9 to charge electronic devices without having to purchase a transmission cable. The retractable charging cable 5 has the advantage of being quickly and easily pulled out during use and automatically retracted when not in use, allowing the charging plug 50 to be stored in the receiving recess 103. Preferably, the retractable charging cable 5 can be equipped with a stress relief structure to relieve the stress between the charging plug 50 and the cable and prevent damage to the cable due to bending or pulling. Furthermore, the charging plug 50 can also be selected from one or a combination of the specifications of USB-A, Mini USB, Micro USB, USB Type-C, or Lighting to meet the charging needs of various electronic devices. Fig.Figure 6 shows two charging sockets 111 with different specifications. One charging socket is USB Type-C, and the other charging socket 111 is USB-A. Furthermore, the retractable charging cable 5 can be stored and secured in the receiving recess 103 by magnetic attraction, or the width of the receiving recess 103 can be adjusted to clamp and secure the retractable charging cable 5.

[0032] In summary, the foldable charger of this invention adopts a novel mechanism design that allows the plug assembly to be rotated parallel or perpendicular to the first side without being housed in the charger case, thus achieving the advantage of a compact shape, making it easy for users to carry. At the same time, the foldable charger also has good power conduction stability. Due to the adapter contact springs, the pair of third contact pieces and the pair of second contact pieces of the bracket can form stable mounting contact. The pair of first contact pieces can contact the circuit board contact springs when the plug assembly is rotated perpendicular to the first side, thereby establishing a complete current-conducting path from the contact pin set to the circuit board assembly, thus effectively eliminating the problem of poor contact of the charger in the prior art.Furthermore, this invention also proposes many additional detailed technical features. For example, the positioning of the connector assembly during rotation is realized through the cooperation of the axle rod leaf spring, the cover plate, and the axle rod of the bracket. The cover plate can be mounted by screw to increase the load capacity for the spring force of the axle rod leaf spring. To increase the structural stability of the connector assembly when it is perpendicular to the first side, the mounting portion can be provided with the protruding rib that engages with the positioning hole of the inner cover. Furthermore, to improve the assembly stability of the components and the pair of adapter leaf springs, the clamping portions can each have a pair of clamping pieces that are arranged in a mirror image and have a pitch that gradually decreases toward the inner cover to create a barb-like fastening effect.Or, the pair of electrically conductive fastening elements are formed by screws.
