Description

[0001] The invention relates to a personal water tub.

[0002] From EP 1 428 467 A1, a bathtub is known with a tub body that can be filled with water and with an access area that can be entered from the outside via an access door and is separated from the tub body by a partition door. Water can be pumped from the access area back into the tub body by means of a water pump. The water-free access area can be operated by a person, whereby after opening the partition door, the access area is flooded so that the person is already in the water and can transfer into the tub body.

[0003] Such a bathtub requires extensive structural modifications and is generally not suitable for retrofitting into an existing bathroom.

[0004] The invention is based on the objective of providing a personal water tub using simple measures that also allows easy access for people with limited mobility.

[0005] This problem is solved according to the invention by the features of claim 1. The dependent claims specify advantageous further developments.

[0006] The personal water tub according to the invention (hereinafter: water tub) is preferably designed as a fixed device that can be installed, for example, in bathrooms in private homes or in public facilities. Retrofitting into an existing bathroom is also possible in principle. Advantageously, the water tub is equipped with integrated water pipes.

[0007] The personal water tub is specifically designed to accommodate exactly one person, although larger versions may also accommodate two or more people.

[0008] The water tub is equipped with a first and a second tub door, each of which can be sealed to prevent water ingress. The two tub doors can be opened and closed independently. The lower edge of the tub doors is positioned at different distances from the bottom of the water tub.

[0009] This design has the advantage that the bathtub can be accessed easily via the lower, open door. Consequently, the person has to overcome no step, or only a very small one, to get into the tub. The door is then closed, and water can be added.

[0010] It is also possible to enter the tub through the lower, open tub door. In this case, the tub can be filled with water up to the top edge of the open tub door before entering, so that the person is already partially submerged upon entering. After closing this tub door, the tub can be filled with more water as needed.

[0011] Advantageously, the two bathtub doors are arranged directly above one another. The lower bathtub door preferably extends to the floor or nearly to the floor of the tub, while the upper bathtub door is located above the lower door and extends, in particular, to the upper edge of the tub. To enter the tub, the upper door must always be opened. If the lower door remains closed, there is a step that the person must overcome, although this allows the tub to be partially filled with water before entering. If, however, the lower door is also opened, the tub can be entered without or almost without obstruction.

[0012] In an alternative design, the two bathtub doors are not positioned one above the other, but are offset from each other along the circumference. In this case, both bathtub doors advantageously extend to the upper edge of the tub, but are positioned at different distances from the bottom. To enter the tub, only one door is opened at a time; the other remains closed. The door that reaches to or nearly reaches the bottom of the tub is opened particularly for people with limited mobility, whereas the door that ends higher allows for partial filling with water and also retains the water in the tub when open.

[0013] In a further advantageous embodiment, the first bathtub door, whose lower edge is closer to the bottom of the tub, is lower than the second bathtub door. This facilitates entry into the tub. In particular, the first bathtub door is only at most half the height of the second bathtub door, so that stepping over the closed first bathtub door while simultaneously opening the second bathtub door is easily possible for people without mobility restrictions.

[0014] In yet another advantageous embodiment, the water tub has a rectangular, or optionally square, cross-sectional shape. Each tub door extends approximately over one side of the water tub. With the two tub doors arranged one above the other, one side of the water tub is thus completely or almost completely occupied by the two tub doors.

[0015] In an alternative design, the water tray has a round or possibly oval or ovalized cross-sectional shape. In this case, the tray doors also have a correspondingly curved shape.

[0016] The water tray can have either a constant cross-sectional shape along its height or a cross-sectional shape that widens slightly towards the top.

[0017] The water tub can be equipped with various features. For example, a fold-down seat on the inside wall of the tub could be used by the person in the tub when needed. Furthermore, it can be useful for the water tub to have a grab bar attached to the side of the tub that extends above the top edge.

[0018] The water tray is advantageously built higher than a normal bathtub; for example, it can have a tub body with a height of at least 1.50 m.

[0019] Further advantages and practical designs can be found in the additional requirements, the figure description, and the drawings. These show: Fig. 1 a longitudinal section through a personal water tub, Fig. 2. The water tub in a side view, with two superimposed tub doors that can be opened independently of each other. Fig. 3. The water tub in top view, with an open tub door.

[0020] In the figures, identical components are labelled with the same reference symbols.

[0021] The depicted water tub 1 has a cuboid tub body 2 and serves to accommodate a person 3 who can perform gymnastic exercises in the water-filled tub 1. Fig. Figure 1 shows the water level 4, which in this embodiment lies just below the upper edge of the tub. Person 3 wears aqua jogging shoes 5 to perform the gymnastic exercises and carries out a running, walking, or kicking motion in the water. A foldable seat 6 is located on the inner wall of the tub 2, which can be adjusted between a folded-up, out-of-use position and a folded-down, in-use position (shown with dashed lines). A handrail 7 is attached to the wall of the tub 2, extending above the upper edge of the water and which person 3 can grasp while performing the gymnastic exercises.

[0022] Two bathtub doors, 8 and 9, are integrated into one side of the tub body 2. When the tub body 2 is closed, these doors form a flow-tight seal. The two doors are positioned directly above one another and occupy almost the entire side of the cuboid tub body 2. The first, lower door, 8, is pivotally attached to the tub body 2 by a hinge 10 and opens outwards. The second, upper door, 9, is taller than the first door and is pivotally attached to the tub body 2 by two hinges, 11a and 11b, positioned one above the other. It also opens outwards. The second, upper door, 9, is at least twice, and possibly three times, as tall as the first, lower door, 8.The bathtub doors 8 and 9 can be opened and closed via door locking handles 12 and 13 and can be opened and closed independently of each other.

[0023] The lower edge of the first, lower tub door 8 extends to the bottom of the tub body 2. The second, upper tub door 9 adjoins the upper edge of the lower tub door 8 immediately, its upper edge being flush with or approximately flush with the upper front face of the tub body 2.

[0024] The two superimposed bathtub doors 8 and 9 allow entry and exit from the water tub 1 in two different ways: For persons without mobility restrictions, only the upper tub door 9 is opened to enter and exit the water tub. The lower tub door 8 remains closed and must be overcome by the person. However, the closed lower tub door 8 allows the water tub 1 to be partially filled with water before the person enters, as is the case in Fig. 2 is marked with the water level 4, which lies below the upper edge of the lower tub door 8.

[0025] For people with mobility impairments, both tub doors 8 and 9 can be opened to enter and exit the water tub, so that there is no step and the water tub 1 can be entered without obstacles or almost without obstacles.

[0026] The water tub 1 is also equipped with a massage shower 14, which is located on the tub body 2 and extends beyond the upper front of the tub body 2. QUOTES INCLUDED IN THE DESCRIPTION
