AI Technical Summary
Standard ladders pose a risk of reduced strength and increased accidents when leaned against a surface due to the need to reach behind, and existing spacers are cumbersome and rarely used.
An integrated, adjustable spacer attached to the ladder via a joint, allowing 0 to 180-degree adjustment, with length and clamping options, and an optional toolbox for safe tool placement.
Enhances user safety and convenience by providing adjustable spacing and secure tool storage, reducing the risk of accidents and improving reachability.

Abstract
Description
[0001] With standard ladders, whether extension ladders, telescopic ladders, multi-purpose ladders, or step ladders, when leaned against a wall or similar surface, the ends of the stiles rest against the wall or other surface. If someone then steps onto the ladder to mount something or perform other work on the wall or other nearby components, the problem arises of being so close to the wall. This forces the person at the top of the ladder to reach behind them to perform the work with their hand or a tool. As a result, the person reaching behind them has less strength available and also increases the risk of accidents.
[0002] There are spacers available on the market for extension ladders. However, these are designed as separate components and must first be mounted onto the ladder. This is considerably more work and therefore rarely used. Furthermore, it's an extra component that has to be carried along.
[0003] In my invention, the spacer is integrated into the ladder. It is attached to one end of the ladder via a joint. Normally, the ladder is straight, but it can be angled. This joint is adjustable from 0 to 180 degrees. It can be adjusted continuously, via a toothed mechanism, by detents at specific angles, or by clamping. The spacer is also adjustable in length and can be clamped continuously or in steps.
[0004] Furthermore, a special toolbox can be inserted in the angled part (spacer), so that tools or materials can be safely placed when working at the top of the ladder.
