Stabilizing assembly for extension ladders
A stabilizing assembly for extension ladders has two length adjustable legs attached to opposing sides of the base segment at the uppermost rung and two length adjustable braces attached to opposing sides of the base segment at the lowermost rung, the hollow walls of both have a three sided projection extending outward along their full length. A bracket of similar configuration encircles each leg, effects attachment of the outer end of the brace to the leg on the same side of the base segment and enables smooth movement of the brace along the leg for optimum positioning. Bolts through the hollow rungs attach the legs and braces to the base segment and pass through adapters which cooperate with the openings in the ladder rails, prevent unwanted movement, and enable spaced apart distance between the legs and the rails. A crossbar between the braces maintains proper orientation of the stabilized ladder and a pin enforces the integrity of the legs.
