Abstract
Description
Technical field
[0001] The invention relates to a manually operated device for cutting defined areas of lawn from the ground, in particular for removing damaged lawn areas including their roots, wherein the device consists of a combination of additively manufactured components and conventional metal components. The device is used particularly in horticulture and landscaping as well as in lawn care, for example at sports clubs, in public green spaces or in private areas. State of the art
[0002] Lawn cutters come in various designs and are typically made entirely of metal components. They are often welded constructions with a continuous steel frame, a handle, and at least one cutting edge for removing the lawn along with its roots. Manufacturing these tools is complex, material-intensive, and costly. Furthermore, customization to specific requirements is limited.
[0003] Furthermore, known designs are characterized by their high weight. Due to conventional manufacturing using permanently welded components, the economical replacement of individual components, especially the cutting units, is limited. As a result, these devices are considered difficult to repair.
[0004] Furthermore, additive manufacturing processes are not yet used for load-bearing structural components or ergonomic enhancements. A modular design that allows for individual adjustments or simple repairs is not currently known. Object of the invention
[0005] The object of the invention is to provide a lawn cutting device that is cost-effective to manufacture, modular in design, and ergonomically adaptable. In particular, it should incorporate a combination of conventional metallic components and additively manufactured structural or functional elements.
[0006] Furthermore, the device is designed to have a significantly reduced mass compared to all-metal versions and to allow for easy disassembly and cleaning. Particular emphasis is placed on ease of repair and the cost-effective replacement of wear parts or functional components, especially the cutting unit, to promote sustainable and long-lasting use. Solution
[0007] The task is accomplished by a hybrid lawn cutting device ( Fig. 1 & 5) solved, which in particular has the following characteristics: • A basic body (1) made of an additively manufactured material, which serves as a structural support element for further functional units. • At least one cutting edge or cutting frame (2) made of metal to define the cutting line, wherein the cutting geometry is either square or round. • A connection area (3) for a handle (4), for example in the form of a receiving thread or a bayonet fitting, for tool-free attachment of a preferably metallic handle. • An ergonomically shaped handle (5) at the end of the handle for comfortable handling during manual operation. • An integrated ejector mechanism (6) which is guided via at least one vertical guide structure inside the base body and serves to guide the cut-out turf element downwards out of the cutting unit. • An ergonomic operating surface (7) for power transmission when ejecting the piece of turf. • A modular design, especially with interchangeable components such as replaceable cutting inserts, different handle options, and optional extensions. • A detachable connection between the cutting unit and the base body, for example by means of a screw connection, clamping system or snap mechanism.
[0008] This combination creates a particularly user-friendly, cost-effective, and versatile lawn removal tool. Additive manufacturing also allows for individual customization to suit different applications or user groups.
[0009] This representation ( Fig. 1 & 5) corresponds to a preferred embodiment of the invention.
