Abstract

Thermomagnetically driven linear ratchet motor, characterized by: ◯ an axially magnetized neodymium magnet (a), ◯ a thermally switchable gadolinium piece (b) which reversibly changes its magnetic properties between a ferromagnetic state (low temperature) and a paramagnetic state (higher temperature) when the temperature changes, o a lifting rod (c) which is attached to the neodymium magnet (a) and is moved linearly by the temperature-dependent attraction between neodymium magnet (a) and gadolinium (b), o a ratchet gear (d) which is mechanically coupled to the lifting rod (c) and converts the linear motion into a directed rotation or stepwise linear motion.
