Description
[0001] The present invention relates to the technical field of conveying systems for goods.
[0002] Conveyor units for conveyor systems, especially those that allow directional conveying using adjustable transport rollers, are designed discretely to the dimensions of the respective conveyor system using conventional constructions. The transport rollers can usually only be swiveled discretely between two or three positions, as is typical for a conveyor system switch. Drive is usually provided by a belt driven by a permanently installed drive element located beneath the actual transport roller. The drive elements are often unidirectional.
[0003] Due to the discrete design of the conveyor unit to the dimensions of the respective conveyor system, the conveyor unit is only suitable for that conveyor system. Maintenance, installation, and removal require specialist knowledge and involve considerable effort. The design of a higher-level control unit is also not trivial, as each installed transport roller must be considered individually for programming the control unit. Furthermore, the transport rollers of common conveyor units cannot be continuously pivoted, and the drive elements located below the transport roller do not allow for easy changes in the transport direction.
[0004] US 2005 / 040009 A shows a deflection system for deflecting objects that are conveyed along the deflection system.
[0005] US 2013 / 126300 A1 shows a transfer conveyor device with small conveyor rollers that form a conveying plane for a transported material for a main conveying direction and at least one secondary conveying direction.
[0006] US 2003 / 234155 A1 shows a conveyor mechanism with a plurality of rollers. Two rollers are always driven by a countershaft.
[0007] US 2016 / 145053 A1 shows a modular conveyor unit according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0008] WO 2015 106 765 A1 shows a modular system with a plurality of controllable carrier balls that can be controlled in different directions.
[0009] The present invention is therefore based on the object of providing an improved and easily installed conveyor unit. This object is achieved by the solution described in the independent claim.
[0010] The inventive solution provides a conveyor unit for a higher-level conveyor system for transporting goods on a transport level. The conveyor unit comprises conveyor rollers, drive means, at least one adjusting device, and a control unit. The conveyor rollers are rotatable about their respective axes of rotation at a controllable speed and direction of rotation. The drive means are designed to be controllable for driving the conveyor rollers. The axes of rotation of the conveyor rollers are designed to be adjustable by rotation about their respective pivot axes by a specific pivot axis angle. The adjusting device is designed to be controllable for adjusting the axes of rotation of the conveyor rollers about their respective pivot axes. The control unit is designed to control the conveyor unit, in particular the adjusting device and the drive means, and the conveyor unit also comprises a connecting device for connecting the conveyor unit to the higher-level conveyor system.
[0011] Depending on its design, the conveyor unit according to the invention is suitable for various types of goods, such as parcels and mail, suitcases and luggage, crates, containers, and order-ready piece goods. In a broader sense, transporting should also be understood as a change in the orientation of the goods without changing their center of gravity.
[0012] In order to transport the goods with many degrees of freedom, at least two of the transport rollers can be controlled differently from each other.
[0013] Different controllability refers to the individual controllability of individual transport rollers or groups of transport rollers with respect to the parameters speed, direction of rotation, and pivot axis angle. Individual adjustability can encompass all, two, or just one of the parameters. The controllability of the speed encompasses both the rotational speed and the direction of rotation. Individual controllability, which is possible in principle, also encompasses the identical control of individual or all of these parameters.
[0014] The drive units are individually controllable to drive a transport roller. This allows the transport rollers to be easily controlled at different speeds and directions of rotation, allowing the goods to be transported in adjustable transport directions and simultaneously manipulated in their orientation, even with the same pivot axis angles. The transport rollers of a conveyor unit can therefore be driven in a positive and / or negative direction of rotation at the same and / or different rotational speeds. This allows goods to be easily rotated on the spot, and also enables other clever manipulations of a flow of goods.
[0015] In order to achieve robust and precise position, speed and torque control of the transport roller with simple control, the drive means can be designed as a servo drive.
[0016] According to a further embodiment, the connecting device can be designed to supply power to the conveyor unit. Since no additional connection is required for the power supply, installation of the conveyor unit is particularly simple.
[0017] To enable uncomplicated installation and removal of the conveyor unit, the connecting device is designed as a plug-in connection. According to a further embodiment, the connecting device can be configured for signal transmission. This allows signals to be transmitted between the higher-level conveyor system and the conveyor unit with particularly high reliability and low interference, possibly in addition to other functionalities.
[0018] In order to enable coordinated control with other T conveyor units and / or with the higher-level conveyor system in an uncomplicated manner, the control unit can be adapted to be controlled by a higher-level control device.
[0019] According to a further embodiment, the adjustment device can be designed for jointly adjusting the rotational axes of the transport rollers about their respective pivot axes. The transport rollers of a conveyor unit are thus coupled with respect to the adjustability of their pivot axis angles, whereby identical and / or different pivot axis angles can be adjusted jointly. Controlling the conveyor unit is thus less complicated due to the smaller degrees of freedom of adjustment.
[0020] In order to achieve a fine adjustment of the transport directions of the transport rollers, the adjusting device can be designed to continuously adjust the rotation axes of the transport rollers about their respective pivot axes.
[0021] According to a further embodiment, the transport rollers can be arranged in a region intended for contact with the goods
[0022] The rollers have a spherical surface in the area, the rotation axes are arranged essentially parallel to the transport plane, and the pivot axes are arranged essentially orthogonally to the transport plane. Such transport rollers offer a large contact area between the transport roller surface and the goods, enabling particularly efficient and precise power transmission and thus particularly reliable transport.
[0023] To protect the moving parts and bearings of the conveyor unit from contamination and to create the smoothest possible surface with minimal interference, the conveyor unit can also include a cover device with recesses for the transport rollers. The cover device thus serves to protect both the goods and the conveyor unit itself and also prevents the operator's limbs from becoming trapped.
[0024] To achieve particularly high stability of the cover device, the cover device can be designed as a closed profile. Profiles that are closed, at least in cross-section, can withstand high forces. Tubular profiles with round or square cross-sections, as well as sigma profiles, are typical examples of closed profiles.
[0025] To provide and utilize extended conveying areas, two or more conveyor units can be arranged in any configuration. The modularity of the conveyor units allows for the rapid and straightforward construction of customized, yet easy-to-control and install conveyor units.
[0026] According to one embodiment, the control units of two or more conveyor units can be adapted to be controlled in a coordinated manner. This allows a product to be transported and manipulated simultaneously by more than one conveyor unit.
[0027] Embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the figures. Figure 1 schematically shows a conveyor unit according to the invention; Figure 2 shows a conveyor unit with a common adjustment device; Figure 3 shows a further conveyor unit with a common adjustment device and covering device; and Figure 4 shows a conveyor system with conveyor units arranged one behind the other and next to one another.
[0028] Figure 1shows, according to one embodiment of the invention, schematically and in cross-section, a conveyor unit 2 comprising essentially identically designed transport rollers 8a - 8d for transporting goods 4 such as packages or pieces of luggage along a transport plane 6, wherein the main transport direction 22 points into the image plane and the transport rollers 8a - 8d span the transport plane 6. The transport rollers 8a - 8d each have their own axes of rotation 10a - 10d, their own controllable drive means 18a - 18d, their own pivot axes 12a - 12d and their own transport roller bearings 24a - 24d. A good 4 (not shown here) is transported along the transport plane 6 and / or its orientation is changed depending on its dimensions and its orientation, resting on at least one or more of the transport rollers 8a - 8d.
[0029] The transport rollers 8a - 8d can be rotated about their respective axes of rotation 10a - 10d with the aid of the drive means 18a - 18d at an adjustable speed that determines the transport speed. The speeds can be identical in magnitude and / or sign and / or can differ from one another completely or in groups. The speed thus also includes the direction of rotation. The transport rollers 8a - 8d of the conveyor unit 2 can thus be driven in a positive and / or negative direction of rotation. The drive means 8a - 8d are designed as direct drives that are controllable in all four quadrants spanned by torque and speed (rotational speed and positive and negative direction of rotation), thus enabling active acceleration and deceleration, as well as clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. Integrated servo drives are particularly well suited for precise individual adjustment and control, but differently designed drive means 18a - 18d are also possible.
[0030] Each transport roller 8a has its own transport direction 34a, which can be controlled by adjusting the direction of rotation and the pivot axis angle 14a. A pivot axis angle 14a of 0° is defined here by a transport direction 34a that coincides with the main transport direction 22 with a positive direction of rotation. In a cylindrically designed transport roller 8a, which has a circumferential, cylinder-like surface in an area intended for contact with the goods 4, the pivot axis 12a is advantageously arranged orthogonally to the transport plane 6, and the rotation axis 10a thus always remains parallel to and below the transport plane 6.
[0031] A spherical or cambered transport roller 8 would also be very advantageous in a pivot axis arrangement orthogonal to the transport plane 6, since a spherical design facilitates adjustment of the pivot axis angle 14a compared to a cylinder jacket-like design and has fewer interfering contours between the transport roller 8a and the product 4. A surface that is completely or at least partially spherical in shape represents a special case of a spherical surface.
[0032] The conveyor unit 2 comprises a control unit 20 designed for optimized control of the conveyor unit 2, with which the drive means 18a-18d and the adjustment devices 16a-16d are controlled. The conveyor unit 2 comprises a connecting device 32 so that it can be easily connected to the higher-level conveyor system 28.
[0033] The pivot axis angle 14a is adjusted with a controllable adjustment device 16a by rotating the transport roller 8a including the rotation axis 10a about its pivot axis 12a. The conveyor unit 2 can comprise a single adjustment device 16 for all transport rollers 8a - 8d, or each transport roller 8a - 8d is adjusted with its own adjustment device 16a - 16d as shown in Figure 1 shown. The adjustment devices 16a - 16d are individually adjustable and designed to be individually controllable by the control unit 20.
[0034] The transport rollers 8a - 8d thus have four controllably adjustable degrees of freedom - speed, direction of rotation and pivot axis angle as well as torque - which are individually adjustable and adjustable in the presence or absence of a piece goods 4. Individual adjustability here also includes the setting of two or more of the listed degrees of freedom of two or more of the transport rollers 8a - 8d being the same and / or being adjustable together. The transport rollers 8a - 8d are therefore rotatable about their axes of rotation 10a - 10d at the same and / or different rotational speed, with the same and / or different directions of rotation and with the same and / or different torque. The pivot axis angles 14a - 14d of two or more transport rollers 8a - 8d are the same and / or different adjustable.
[0035] The conveyor unit 2 represents an optimized arrangement of transport rollers 8 with integrated drive means 18a - 18d and compact adjustment devices 16a - 16d for continuously controlling the transport rollers 8a - 8d with a control unit 20. The modularity in the arrangement of the conveyor unit 2 enables a quick and uncomplicated configuration of a conveyor unit 2 of a higher-level conveyor system 28.
[0036] The connecting device 32 is designed for power supply and / or signal transmission and can thus be easily controlled by a higher-level control device 21 of the higher-level conveyor system 28. The higher-level control device 21 controls the control unit 20 of the conveyor unit 20 depending on the position and orientation of the piece goods 4 on the transport level 6.
[0037] The conveyor unit 2 can be controlled such that the transport rollers 8a - 8d can have a matching speed, direction of rotation, and pivot axis angle 14a - 14d. For a diverse range of goods handling, the conveyor unit 2 can also be controlled such that at least two transport rollers 8 can be controlled differently from one another. Thus, some or all of the transport rollers can have individual settings for all or individual parameters, but it is also possible for the transport rollers 8a - 8d to be set consistently in groups. A different setting of the transport rollers only needs to affect one of the degrees of freedom. For example, a different setting of the direction of rotation and / or rotation speed with a matching setting of the pivot axis angle 14 results in a different setting of the transport rollers 8 overall.
[0038] To rotate a load 4 resting equally on all four transport rollers with parallel rotation axes and matching pivot axis angles 14, the two right-hand transport rollers 8c, 8d can be driven in a positive direction of rotation and the two left-hand transport rollers 8a, 8b in a negative direction of rotation but with the same speed – or vice versa. Instead of driving the transport rollers 8a - 8d in opposite directions of rotation, the pivot axis angles 14a - 14d could alternatively be adjusted. The pivot axis angles 14a - 14d are continuously adjustable.
[0039] At least two differently adjustable transport rollers 8 are required to rotate a product 4. With more transport rollers 8, the guidance of the product 4 is improved.
[0040] Figure 2According to a further embodiment of the invention, a modular conveyor unit 2 comprises transport rollers 8a-8h arranged in a line and a common adjustment device 16 for all transport rollers 8a-8h. The adjustment device 16 is mechanically coupled to the transport rollers 8a-8h via an adjustment device axis 16', so that the rotation axes 10a-10h of all transport rollers 8a-8h can be adjusted simultaneously and jointly by the same pivot axis angle 14a-14d. Thus, the transport rollers 8a-8h always have the same pivot axis angle 14a, and the rotation axes 10a-10d always remain parallel to one another. The adjustment device 16 is designed for continuous adjustment of the pivot axis angles 14a-14d, which can thus assume optional angle values between 0° and 360°.The continuous adjustment of any angle value allows for very precise adjustment of the transport direction 34a - 34d of the transport rollers 8a - 8d. The conveyor unit 2 comprises a compactly installed electronics unit 30 within its interior, which, in addition to the control unit 20, comprises, in a compact design, further components serving the electronic control and power supply.
[0041] The drive means 18a - 18h are designed as separately controllable external motors, which also act as anti-pinch protection for additional safety. The drive means 18a, transport roller 8a, and transport roller bearing 24a constitute an integrated component. Some of the transport rollers 8a - 8h have a circumferential friction lining 26 for improved adhesion between the transport roller 8 and the product 4, thus optimizing the transmission of the movement of the transport roller 8 to the product. The friction lining is designed to be durable and therefore particularly low-maintenance.
[0042] To rotate a product 4, the drive means 18e - 18h of the transport rollers 8e - 8h positioned on the far right can be driven at a positive speed and thus a positive direction of rotation, while the drive means 18a - 18d of the transport rollers 8a - 8d positioned on the far left can be driven at a negative speed and thus a negative direction of rotation. By controlling the drive means 18a - 18h at different speeds, as well as matching and / or differing directions of rotation, the product 4 can be transported with high variability even with matching pivot axis angles 14a - 14h, and its orientation can be manipulated during transport or when stationary.
[0043] The connecting device 32 is designed as a plug-in connection, making installation of the conveyor unit 2, in particular connecting it to a higher-level controller 21 of the higher-level conveyor system 28, particularly straightforward. Upon insertion, automatic contact is established between the conveyor unit 2 and the higher-level conveyor system 28.
[0044] Figure 3 shows a further conveyor unit 2 with individually controllable drive means 18a - 18g for driving the transport rollers 8a - 8g according to yet another embodiment of the invention. The conveyor unit 2 is similar to the one shown in Figure 2shown is designed with a common adjustment device 16 for all transport rollers 8a - 8g. The adjustment device 16 is designed for the continuous adjustment of the rotation axes 10a - 10g of the transport rollers 8a - 8d about their respective pivot axes 12a - 12g. The pivot axis angles 14a - 14g can therefore assume any desired values, although a restriction of the angular range is also possible. By controlling the direction of rotation and the pivot axis angle 14a in the range of + / -90°, any possible transport direction 34a of the transport roller 8a can nevertheless be achieved. Restricting the pivot axis angle 14a simplifies the structural implementation of the conveyor unit 2, in particular the rotationally movable fastening of the transport roller bearing 24. If the conveyor unit 2 is primarily used for conveying along the main transport direction 22, a restriction of the pivot axis angle in the range of + / -45° can also be useful.
[0045] The conveyor unit 2 comprises a cover device 36, which has recesses for the transport rollers 8a - 8g. The cover device 36 serves, on the one hand, as a clamping guard for goods 4 and operating personnel, but on the other hand also as a protection against contamination of the moving parts and bearings of the conveyor unit 2. The dimensions of the cover device 36 are adapted to the dimensions of the modular conveyor unit 2 such that two conveyor units 2 positioned directly next to each other are flush. The cover device 36 shown here is designed as a three-dimensional, elongated and angular hollow body and thus as a closed profile. Closed profiles and other hollow body shapes of the cover device 36 lend the conveyor unit 2 a particularly high level of stability in its arrangement and also protect the components from the sides and below. The closed profile design is advantageous for high stability; a wide variety of profile contours are possible, for example, round or square tubular shapes, single- or multiply folded Sigma profiles. However, other designs of the cover device 36, such as simple cover plates with recesses for the transport rollers 8a - 8g, are also possible. The recesses are easily created from a blank of the cover device by punching, sawing, or cutting it out using a laser or water jet, or simply with a mechanical cutting tool.
[0046] Figure 4According to one embodiment of the invention, a conveyor system 28 with conveyor units 2, 2' arranged regularly one behind the other and side by side, which are arranged along the main transport direction 22 and at right angles thereto. The arrangement of the individually adjustable and controllable conveyor units 2 is partly roller-carpet-like, partly strip-like. The roller-carpet-like areas are particularly suitable for changing the orientation of goods, while the other areas are particularly suitable for simple transport along the main transport direction 22.
[0047] The pivot axis angles 14 of a conveyor unit 2 aligned along the main transport direction 22 can assume continuous values between +45° and -45°. The transport directions 34 +< possible at positive speed and thus positive direction of rotation lie between 34l +< and 34r +< , while the transport directions 34 -< possible at negative speed and thus negative direction of rotation lie between 34l -< and 34r -< . Since the possible transport directions 34 +< , 34 -< of the conveyor units 2' arranged transversely to the main transport direction are rotated by 90° compared to the transport directions 34 +< , 34 -< shown, they are particularly suitable for steering the goods 2 to the right or left. The transport speed of the conveyor units 2, 2' is determined by the rotational speed of their transport rollers 8.
[0048] The conveyor units 2 can be arranged not only along or orthogonally to the main transport direction 22, but also in any arrangement relative to one another and at any angle to the main transport direction 22. The higher-level control device 21 of the conveyor system 28 controls the control units 20 of the individual conveyor units 2, 2' in a coordinated manner, whereby the control can be automated, taking into account the position and orientation of goods 4 detected by detectors. The higher-level control device 21 coordinates the control of the individual control units 20 designed for control by a higher-level control device 21, so that the transport of goods along the entire conveyor system 28 is carried out in an optimized manner.
[0049] According to a further embodiment, the transport rollers 8 of a conveyor unit 2 are arranged non-linearly, for example circularly, and are thus even better suited for rotating a product 4.
[0050] According to a further embodiment, the conveyor unit 2 is designed to be controlled via a communication protocol, for example CAN or CANopen. List of reference symbols
