FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a cutting machine for cutting, scoring, perforating or marking printed sheets of paper, cardboard or similar materials, plastic films, cloths or the like. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Machines of this type are described, for example, in documents EP 1 385 674 B1 and EP 2 488 333 B1. Such a cutting machine comprises a work surface configured to accommodate at least one object, as well as a work group movably arranged above the work surface, comprising a knife or other cutting device for cutting objects located on the work surface. "Cutting" does not necessarily mean a complete severing, so a cutting process can also include perforating or folding the object or a similar work step that can be performed with a machine of this type. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The present invention relates to a cutting machine, comprising a table with a work surface, the work surface being designed to receive an object to be cut, a crossbar arranged above the work surface, mounted on the table, and designed for linear positioning parallel to a first horizontal axis, a module mounted on the crossbar and designed for linear positioning parallel to a second horizontal axis, wherein the second horizontal axis is perpendicular to the first horizontal axis, a tool holder mounted in the module and designed for linear positioning parallel to a vertical axis, rotational positioning about the vertical axis, and receiving one of a plurality of different interchangeable tools, and a control unit designed to control the cutting machine, wherein the tool holder has a connection device, wherein the connecting device is designed to supply a received tool with electrical energy and a fluid, in particular wherein the fluid is compressed air or a lubricant, wherein a rotary feedthrough is provided between the module and the tool holder or on the connecting device, via which the supply of the fluid is provided, wherein a rotary transformer is provided between the module and the tool holder or on the connecting device, via which the supply of electrical energy is provided, and wherein the control unit is designed to control the cutting machine to automatically execute a tool change. In particular, drive elements within or on the tool to be received are supplied with power.
[0004] The connecting device can have electrical contact elements for supplying a tool with electrical energy. The electrical contact elements are distributed around the vertical axis and interact with counter-contact elements of a tool to be picked up. The interaction of the contact element and the counter-contact element creates electrical contact during the tool picking process. In particular, the contact elements can be distributed concentrically around the vertical axis.
[0005] The connecting device can additionally be configured to supply a received tool with control data, wherein the control data is intended to control the movement of a cutting tool, pressing tool, perforating tool, or marking tool received in the tool. In particular, the control data actuates drive elements within or on the tool being received. The control data can be transmitted via the existing electrical contact elements, or a separate data transmission element can be used for this purpose. Such a data transmission element then interacts with a corresponding data transmission counter-element on a received tool.
[0006] The connection device can be designed to read a sensor arranged in the mounted tool. Sensor data can also be transmitted via the existing electrical contact elements, or a separate data transmission element (possibly the same one used for the transmission of control data) can be used for this purpose. Such a data transmission element then interacts with a corresponding data transmission counter element on a mounted tool.
[0007] The tool holder can have a first alignment element which interacts with a first alignment counter-element of a tool to be picked up, wherein the interaction of the first alignment element and the first alignment counter-element during the tool picking process brings about a defined rotational alignment of the tool with respect to the tool holder.
[0008] The first alignment element can be designed as a projection, in particular as a pin, so that the first alignment element can engage positively in the first alignment counter-element of the tool to be received, which counter-element is designed as a recess, in particular as an axial groove, during the tool receiving process.
[0009] The tool holder can have a second alignment element which interacts with a second alignment counter-element of a tool to be picked up, wherein the interaction of the second alignment element and the second alignment counter-element during the tool picking process brings about a defined centering of the tool with respect to the vertical axis.
[0010] The second alignment element can be designed as a conical recess, so that the second alignment counter element of the tool to be received, which is designed as a cone, fits positively into the second alignment element and thus the tool is centered with respect to the vertical axis.
[0011] The tool holder can have an engagement element, in particular a plurality of circumferentially distributed engagement elements, which interacts with an engagement counter-element of a tool to be received, wherein the interaction of the engagement element and the engagement counter-element during the tool receiving process causes a clamping of the tool radially to the vertical axis and a positive connection preventing a movement parallel to the vertical axis.
[0012] The engagement elements can be spherical, distributed concentrically around the vertical axis and arranged rigidly, and can be moved radially outwards when released by the control unit, in particular wherein the release is carried out pneumatically.
[0013] The connection device can have a fluid connector for supplying a received tool with a fluid, wherein the fluid connection interacts with a fluid mating connector of a tool to be received, wherein the interaction of the fluid connector and the fluid mating connector ensures the supply of the received tool with the fluid. The fluid connection can in particular be arranged coaxially to the vertical axis. The fluid connector and / or the fluid mating connector can be provided with a closure to prevent the fluid from escaping. For example, the fluid connector can be a fluid connection and the fluid mating connector a fluid plug. Conversely, the fluid connector can also be designed as a fluid plug and the fluid mating connector as a fluid connection.
[0014] The cutting machine can further comprise a tool magazine with a plurality of magazine locations, wherein the tool magazine is designed to store the plurality of different interchangeable tools in the magazine locations, and wherein the control unit is designed to control the cutting machine in such a way that the cutting machine carries out a tool change in an automated manner by moving the tool holder to the tool magazine, if a tool is located in the tool holder, depositing this picked-up tool in a free magazine location, and removing a newly picked-up tool from an occupied magazine location, wherein the depositing of the picked-up tool and the removal of the tool to be picked up are based on a release actuation of the engagement element.
[0015] In particular, each magazine location has at least three circumferentially unevenly spaced support elements which interact with corresponding support counter elements of a tool to be deposited, wherein the interaction of the support elements and the support counter elements ensures a defined rotational alignment of the tool with respect to the magazine location during the tool depositing process.
[0016] One of the magazine locations can in particular have a connection counter device for diagnostic, maintenance or cleaning cycles, wherein the connection counter device comprises at least one of electrical contact counter elements for receiving electrical energy, data transmission counter elements for receiving pseudo control data or for transmitting pseudo sensor data, and a fluid counter connector for receiving a fluid.
[0017] The invention also relates to a cutting machine as described herein and to an interchangeable tool for receiving on the tool holder of the cutting machine, wherein the tool is designed to receive electrical energy and a fluid which is / are provided by a connection device of the tool holder, and to receive a cutting tool, pressing tool, perforating tool or marking tool.
[0018] The replaceable tool is in particular designed to at least one of supply the fluid to the object to be cut, in particular wherein the fluid is compressed air or a lubricant, and driving the cutting tool, pressing tool or perforating tool based on the supply of electrical energy or the supply of the fluid.
[0019] The replaceable tool can also have a recess, in particular an axial groove, by means of which the tool is rotationally aligned in a defined manner with respect to the tool holder by means of a positive locking during a tool-picking process, a cone by means of which the tool is centered with respect to the vertical axis by means of a positive locking during a tool-picking process, an engagement counter-element, in particular a radial groove, which is designed such that during a tool-picking process the engagement elements of the tool holder clamp the tool radially to the vertical axis and a positive locking preventing movement parallel to the vertical axis, and that the engagement elements can be moved radially out of the engagement counter-element during a release actuation controlled by the control unit and the tool is thus released, and at least one of contact counter-elements for receiving electrical energy,Data transmission counter elements for receiving control data, and a fluid counter connector for receiving a fluid. Figure 5 shows schematically a variety of magazine locations of the tool magazine according to Figure 4 . Figure 6shows in detail the part of a tool interacting with the tool holder and the connecting device according to an embodiment of the present invention. Figure 7 shows a section of a magazine location according to an embodiment of the present invention. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0021] Figure 1 shows an embodiment of a cutting machine 1 comprising a table 10 with a work surface 101. The work surface is designed to receive an object 102 to be cut, in the example shown a cardboard plate with patterns to be cut out.
[0022] The cutting machine 1 has a crossbeam 11, which is arranged above the work surface and mounted on the table in such a way that it is designed for linear positioning parallel to a first horizontal axis H1. A module 12 mounted on the crossbeam 11 is designed for linear positioning parallel to a second horizontal axis H2, wherein the second horizontal axis H2 runs perpendicular to the first horizontal axis H1.
[0023] How Figure 2 As shown, the module 12 has a tool holder 13. The tool holder 13 is mounted such that it is designed for linear positioning parallel to a vertical axis V and for rotational positioning about the vertical axis. The tool holder 13 is further designed to accommodate one of a variety of different interchangeable tools 2.
[0024] The cutting machine 1 further comprises a control unit 14, which is designed to control the cutting machine. The dashed lines indicate that the control unit 14 can be located, for example, inside the cutting machine below the table 10. However, the control unit 14 can also be located at another location on the cutting machine 1 or externally.
[0025] Figure 2further shows a connection device 15, which is enclosed by the tool holder 13. The connection device 15 supplies a received tool with electrical energy and a fluid, for example, compressed air, a lubricant, or coolant. In particular, the connection device 15 can also provide control data by means of which the movement of a received tool can be controlled. For this purpose, the received tool would then have a corresponding actuator and a control unit for interpreting the control data. In addition, a received tool can have one or more fluid lines for the corresponding distribution of the fluid, as well as, for example, a valve for throttling a fluid flow.
[0026] If the fluid is compressed air, it can be used for various purposes (including several from the following list): (a) cleaning a cutting area on the object 102 to be cut, (b) cleaning a cutting tool 4, pressing tool, perforating tool, or marking tool accommodated by the tool, (c) driving a cutting tool 4, pressing tool, perforating tool, or marking tool accommodated by the tool, (d) providing sealing air to the tool or to a cutting tool 4, pressing tool, perforating tool, or marking tool accommodated in the tool, for sealing. In one embodiment, there can also be two or more fluid feedthroughs or fluid connectors (on the machine) for respective fluid mating connectors (on the tool), each of the fluid feedthroughs serving a different purpose (cooling, lubrication, sealing air, cleaning, drive).
[0027] To enable the supply of fluid and the transfer of electrical energy and / or data, the cutting machine accordingly has at least one rotary union and at least one rotary transformer (not shown). The rotary union can be provided, for example, between the module and the tool holder or on the connection device, and the rotary transformer can be provided, in particular, between the module and the tool holder or on the connection device.
[0028] The electrical power supply and data transmission are provided via a rotary transformer located between the module and the tool holder or on the connection device. Such a rotary transformer can be designed as a slip ring or a contactless transformer that operates inductively, for example. Control data or sensor data can also be transmitted via common wireless communication technologies (e.g., NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, radio).
[0029] In particular, the supply of electrical energy is realized via electrical contact elements 150. If control data is to be made available by the cutting machine 1, the connecting device can also have at least one, in particular several, data transmission elements 151, which can, but do not have to, differ in size and / or shape from the electrical contact elements 150. Alternatively, the control data can also be transmitted via the existing electrical contact elements 150, i.e., the data transmission elements are functionally integrated into the electrical contact elements. The elements 150 and 151 are preferably designed as contact plates, but can also be configured as male or female connectors, or as wireless modules. The data transmission elements are particularly designed to send control data (these come from the control unit of the cutting machine) and / or to receive sensor data (these come from a sensor provided in the picked-up tool and can be sent to the control unit of the cutting machine) or pseudo-sensor data (more on this below).
[0030] The fluid is preferably supplied via a round, coaxial fluid connection 19, i.e., the fluid connection is arranged centrally to the vertical axis. The fluid connection 19 can be a male or female connection and can have one or more sealing rings.
[0031] The cutting machine is designed to perform a tool change in an automatically controlled manner. In particular, a first alignment element 16, a second alignment element 17, and an engagement element 18 ensure that the tool change is carried out precisely and correctly. Calibration or a setup process is then no longer necessary.
[0032] The first alignment element 16 ensures a rotational alignment of the tool with respect to the tool holder. At a defined location in the tool holder 13, a pin is preferably arranged as the first alignment element 16, which engages a corresponding recess on a tool as the first alignment counter-element, thereby achieving a positive fit that clearly identifies the alignment of the tool and prevents unwanted rotational displacement. The first alignment element 16 and the first alignment counter-element 26 on the tool can also be configured in reverse, for example, so that the tool holder 13 has an eccentric recess as the first alignment element, into which a pin or a similar element on the tool can engage.
[0033] The second alignment element 17 is preferably implemented as a conical recess. It interacts with a corresponding conical configuration on the tool, so that a positive locking can also be created here, which centers the tool relative to the vertical axis.
[0034] In another embodiment of the cutting machine according to the invention, the first and second alignment elements can be combined in such a way that, for example, the conical recess has at least one axial groove or axial elevation into which a counterpart of a different type on the tool engages.
[0035] The tool holder 13 further comprises at least one, but preferably a plurality of engagement elements 18. The plurality of engagement elements 18 is mounted distributed circumferentially on the tool holder 13 and is designed such that it is arranged radially rigidly in a basic position and can be moved radially outwards by a release actuation. The engagement elements 18 are designed here, for example, as balls, in particular bearing balls. When a tool is inserted, the engagement elements 18 engage in a corresponding engagement counter-element 28 of the tool and thus bring about a positive connection, via which the tool is clamped and an unwanted displacement of the tool along the vertical axis can be prevented. In particular, the at least one engagement element or the engagement counter-element can be designed and arranged such that it presses the inserted tool upwards against the conical recess by means of the clamping, iecauses a preload force.
[0036] In particular, a release is actively activated when a tool change is desired. If the release is not activated, the engagement element remains extended and the clamping is maintained. A release can be activated pneumatically, in particular. For example, the engagement element can be preloaded by a spring, whereby the spring force is reduced or eliminated by extending the spring travel by shifting the spring counter-hold by adding compressed air to a system designed for this purpose.
[0037] The release actuation can also be monitored, whereby the clamping state or position adjustment is monitored. This monitoring can be performed by the machine control system (control unit 14). In particular, the task of monitoring can be to determine whether the tool is correctly engaged or positioned. For this purpose, a position sensor can, for example, detect the axial height of an inserted tool, or generally whether a tool is inserted at all.
[0038] The automatic tool change can be carried out, for example, by taking a new tool from a tool magazine 3 or placing an old tool in it. Figure 4 shows an exemplary arrangement of the magazine 3 on the table of the cutting machine 1. However, the magazine 3 could also be integrated into the table or mounted at another location on the cutting machine 1.
[0039] How Figure 5shows, the tool magazine has a plurality of magazine locations 31, 31', 31", 31‴, 31"", 31‴ʺ. The magazine is designed to store a large number of different interchangeable tools in these magazine locations. If the cutting machine has such a tool magazine, the control unit is designed to control the cutting machine in such a way that the cutting machine carries out a tool change automatically, namely by (a) moving the tool holder to the tool magazine, (b) if a tool is located in the tool holder, depositing this picked-up tool in a free magazine location 31‴ʺ and (c) removing a newly picked-up tool from one of the occupied magazine locations 31, 31', 31", 31‴ or 31ʺʺ. The depositing of the picked-up tool and the removal of the tool to be picked up are each based on a release actuation of the engagement element as described above.
[0040] How Figure 5As shown, each magazine location has at least three circumferentially unevenly spaced support elements 32, which interact with corresponding counter-support elements 22 of a tool to be deposited. The interaction of the support elements and the counter-support elements ensures a defined rotational alignment of the tool with respect to the magazine location during the tool deposit process. The uneven distribution on a circular path (e.g., at 45°, 180°, and 315°) or on circular paths with different radii establishes uniqueness. This ensures that the tool is always in a referenced starting position, and calibration is no longer necessary.
[0041] According to Figure 7 At least one of the support elements 32 can be designed to provide a locking mechanism. Thus, the exemplary support element in Figure 7 via conical tip 320, a radial recess 321 and a support plate 322. The Figure 7 The exemplary counter-support element 22 of the tool shown is a recess on the circumference of a circular frame, wherein the recess is designed such that it is centered on the tip 320 as it slides down. The smallest diameter defined by the counter-support elements 22 is preferably smaller than the largest diameter defined by the tip 320 (upper part) and larger than the smallest diameter defined by the tip 320 (lower part). As a result, the frame is forced into the radial recess 321, wherein the support elements 32 deform accordingly elastically until the frame snaps into place. The tool can then rest on the support plates 322 by means of the counter-support elements 22.
[0042] One of the magazine locations can also have a counter-connection device, particularly one that can be inserted or permanently mounted, for the purpose of diagnostic, maintenance, and / or cleaning processes. Accordingly, such a counter-connection device comprises at least one of (a) counter-contact elements for receiving electrical energy, (b) data transmission elements for receiving control data and / or for transmitting sensor data, and (c) a counter-fluid connector for receiving a fluid. Such a "dummy" can be approached regularly, particularly automatically, to accommodate it as a pseudo-tool, whereby various machine parameters can then be tested, such as electrical voltage, electrical current, data transmission rate, signal strength, fluid flow, leak tightness, etc. For this purpose, additional sensors can also be provided on the counter-connection device that are tuned to these parameters. The engagement force of at least one engagement element can also be tested, or the dimensional accuracy of the alignment elements, especially in order to detect signs of wear at an early stage.
[0043] Conversely, such a test function can also be provided for tools stored in the magazine. This means that the magazine has a pseudo-connection device (a kind of "pseudo-machine") that is essentially similar to the connection device on the cutting machine and can thus also have the same range of functions, i.e., it can provide fluid, electrical energy, and / or control data, or read sensor data. This pseudo-connection device can be moved to the tool to be tested, or the tool to be tested can be moved to the pseudo-connection device. Similar to the reverse situation described above (pseudo-tool is picked up by the machine), cleaning processes, flow tests, leak tests, cooling capacity tests, wear tests, and / or various electrical tests can be performed.
[0044] A tool 2 suitable for the cutting machine 1 according to the invention is shown in Figure 3 , as well as an embodiment of a head part of the tool in Figure 6shown. The tool is accordingly designed to receive at least one of electrical energy and a fluid, which is / are provided by a connection device of the tool holder, and to accommodate a cutting tool 4, pressing tool, perforating tool, or marking tool. In particular, the tool 2 is configured to drive the cutting tool, pressing tool, perforating tool, or marking tool based on the supply of electrical energy or the supply of the fluid. In addition or alternatively to the driving, the tool is designed to supply the fluid to the object 102 to be cut, wherein the fluid is in particular compressed air (to remove chips), a lubricant (to facilitate the cutting process), or a coolant (to cool the tool 2 or the cutting tool 4, pressing tool, perforating tool, or marking tool). The cutting machine according to the invention is also suitable for creasing, perforating and marking, which is why a pressing tool, a perforating tool or a marking tool can be provided instead of the cutting tool 4.
[0045] In particular, the tool has a recess 26, which is shown here by way of example as an axial groove. By means of the recess 26, the tool is rotationally aligned in a defined manner with respect to the tool holder by means of a positive connection with the first alignment element 16 during a tool picking process, or the alignment is ensured. Furthermore, the tool can have a cone 27, by means of which the tool is centered with respect to the vertical axis by means of a positive connection during a tool picking process. Furthermore, an engagement counter element 28 can be provided, which is designed such that during a tool picking process the engagement elements 18 of the tool holder clamp the tool radially to the vertical axis and create a positive connection that prevents movement parallel to the vertical axis.Upon release actuation controlled by the control unit, the engagement elements 18 are moved (or can be moved) radially out of the radial groove in such a way that the tool is released. This means that the depth of the groove 28 is matched to the engagement elements 18 and their travel paths or adjustability.
[0046] The engagement counter element 28 is designed here as a radial groove, but it can also be embodied by a plurality of circumferentially arranged cavities (the engagement elements designed as balls 18 could then engage into such cavities).
[0047] The Figure 3 The tool shown, as well as the more detailed view in Figure 6shows contact elements 250 for receiving electrical energy, data transmission elements 251 for receiving control data, and a fluid connector 29 for receiving a fluid. In one embodiment, the elements 250 and 251, as shown in Figure 6 shown, designed to be spring-loaded, whereby a contact pressure is created between the elements 150 and 151 and the elements 250 and 251 and thus an uninterrupted contact is ensured.
[0048] The fluid connector 29 is, in particular, arranged precisely centrally and thus lies precisely concentrically with the vertical axis V when the tool is in use. For example, a line laid lengthwise inside the tool 2 carries the fluid down to the cutting area or the work surface to be machined. There, the fluid can be used to (a) transport chips away, (b) dissipate the resulting heat, or (c) drive a tool insert (e.g., a reciprocating knife) using a suitable pneumatic device. The fluid line inside the tool can also branch off to eccentric openings on the tool, for example, to (d) clean the work surface of any dust.
[0049] As described above in the context of the cutting machine's connection device, the tool can have a configuration of different counter elements for power, data, and / or fluid(s) corresponding to the connection device, i.e., electrical contact counter elements, data transmission counter elements, and / or fluid counter connectors. A data transmission counter element can also be designed as a wireless module, which is why, in a special embodiment, the tool can have, for example, an NFC, Bluetooth, WLAN, or radio module.
