Description
[0001] The present invention relates to an anhydrous carrier medium for increasing the storage stability of organic silicon compounds, as described in the claims.
[0002] The external stress on hair caused by chemicals from a variety of different sources presents challenges for the development of cosmetic care products. Air and water pollution have a detrimental effect on skin and hair. The effects of various air pollutants can be amplified in the presence of other air pollutants and under the influence of UV radiation.
[0003] It is known that the toxicity of gaseous air pollutants, such as sulfur dioxide, ozone, and nitrogen oxides, is particularly related to their ability to initiator free radicals, which cause damage to living organisms. Free radicals are metabolic products that also occur naturally in the body. In this case, they are referred to as "oxidative damage." Free radicals can also cause hair damage, which can be seen, for example, as a reduction in shine and feel and / or fading of hair color.
[0004] Furthermore, frequently changing consumer preferences regarding a specific hair texture are associated with recurring chemical stress on the hair. For example, hair coloring puts a strain on the hair, which may necessitate special, intensive care.
[0005] For the protection and care of hair, organosilicon compounds from the group of silanes, which contain at least one hydroxyl group and / or hydrolyzable group, are described in the prior art. Due to the presence of the hydroxyl groups and / or hydrolyzable groups, silanes are reactive substances that hydrolyze, oligomerize, or polymerize in the presence of water. The oligomerization or polymerization of the silanes, initiated by the presence of water, ultimately leads to the formation of a film when applied to a keratinous material, which can exert a protective effect.
[0006] The problem with using organosilicon compounds is their instability towards water. Aqueous hair treatment systems containing organosilicon compounds as active ingredients are therefore disadvantageous.
[0007] The object underlying the present invention is to provide a medium that increases the storage stability of organic silicon compounds. In particular, the present invention was based on the object of providing an anhydrous carrier medium that stabilizes organic silicon compounds so that they are ready for the production of a ready-to-use cosmetic product.
[0008] This problem is solved by the combination of features in claim 1.
[0009] The carrier medium serves to provide an organosilicon compound. The organic silicon compound is intended to remain stable in the carrier medium. The carrier medium is then used for combination with one or more other compositions containing active ingredients for hair care, which may be water-based. Because the carrier medium can then be combined with one or more other compositions shortly before application, the active ingredient, the organosilicon compound, remains stable until application.
[0010] In the context of the present invention, "anhydrous" preferably means that no water is added to the carrier medium or that the carrier medium is not water-based. More preferably, the water content of the anhydrous carrier medium is less than 5 wt. %, even more preferably less than 2 wt. %, and most preferably less than 1 wt. %, based on the total weight of the anhydrous carrier medium. In the presence of small amounts of moisture, a small portion of the organic silicon compound can hydrolyze, and the hydrolyzate is in equilibrium with free water. This amount of water is preferably present in the amounts stated above. Such compositions can be found, for example, in US 2010 / 303748 A1, (HERCOUET LEILA [FR], December 2, 2010 (2010-12-02).
[0011] Keratinous materials include hair, skin, and nails (such as fingernails and / or toenails). Wool, fur, and feathers also fall under the definition of keratinous materials.
[0012] A keratinous material is preferably understood to mean human hair, human skin, and human nails, in particular fingernails and toenails. Most preferably, a keratinous material is understood to mean human hair, in particular head and / or beard hair. As the first constituent essential to the invention, the anhydrous carrier medium contains at least one organic silicon compound, namely the one or more compounds to be stabilized, to increase the storage stability of organic silicon compounds. Preferred organic silicon compounds are selected from silanes having one, two, or three silicon atoms, wherein the organic silicon compound comprises one or more hydroxyl groups and / or hydrolyzable groups per molecule.
[0013] Organic silicon compounds, alternatively referred to as organosilicon compounds, are compounds that either have a direct silicon-carbon bond (Si-C) or in which the carbon is linked to the silicon atom via an oxygen, nitrogen, or sulfur atom. Organic silicon compounds are compounds that contain one to three silicon atoms. Organic silicon compounds particularly preferably contain one or two silicon atoms.
[0014] According to IUPAC rules, the term silane refers to a group of chemical compounds based on a silicon backbone and hydrogen. In organic silanes, the hydrogen atoms are completely or partially replaced by organic groups such as (substituted) alkyl groups and / or alkoxy groups. In organic silanes, some of the hydrogen atoms can also be replaced by hydroxy groups.
[0015] The anhydrous carrier medium for increasing storage stability contains at least one organic silicon compound, which is preferably selected from silanes having one, two or three silicon atoms, wherein the organic silicon compound comprises one or more hydroxyl groups or hydrolyzable groups per molecule.
[0016] In a particularly preferred embodiment, the anhydrous carrier medium comprises at least one organic silicon compound selected from silanes having one, two or three silicon atoms to increase storage stability, the organic silicon compound further comprising one or more basic groups and one or more hydroxyl groups or hydrolyzable groups per molecule.
[0017] This basic group can be, for example, an amino group, an alkylamino group, or a dialkylamino group, which is preferably linked to a silicon atom via a linker. The basic group is preferably an amino group, a C 1 -C 6 alkylamino group, or a di(C 1 -C 6 )alkylamino group.
[0018] The hydrolyzable group(s) is / are preferably a C 1 -C 6 alkoxy group, in particular an ethoxy group or a methoxy group. It is preferred if the hydrolyzable group is directly bonded to the silicon atom. If, for example, the hydrolyzable group is an ethoxy group, the organic silicon compound preferably contains a structural unit R'R"R‴Si-O-CH 2 -CH 3 . Each of the radicals e, f, g and h can independently of one another represent the number 0 or 1, with the proviso that at least one of the radicals e, f, g and h is other than 0. In other words, an organic silicon compound of formula (II) contains at least one group from the group consisting of -(A)- and -[NR 7 -(A')]- and -[O-(A")]- and -[NR 8 -(A‴)]-.

For this reason, both the organic silicon compounds with at least one hydrolyzable group and their hydrolysis and / or condensation products can be present in the anhydrous carrier medium. When using organic silicon compounds with at least one hydroxyl group, both the organic silicon compounds with at least one hydroxyl group and their condensation products can be present in the anhydrous carrier medium.
[0077] A condensation product is a product formed by the reaction of at least two organic silicon compounds, each containing at least one hydroxyl group or hydrolyzable group per molecule, with the elimination of water and / or an alkanol. The condensation products can be, for example, dimers, but also trimers or oligomers, with the condensation products being in equilibrium with the monomers. Depending on the amount of water used or consumed in the hydrolysis, the equilibrium shifts from monomeric organic silicon compounds to condensation product.
[0078] In the context of the present invention, data in % by weight - unless otherwise stated - are always based on the total weight of the anhydrous carrier medium.
[0079] As a second essential component of the invention, the anhydrous carrier medium contains a branched or linear alkane. In the course of the work leading to this invention, it has been shown that to achieve a particularly good care effect, it is particularly advantageous if the organic silicon compound, for example (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane, is combined with a branched or linear C8-C30 alkane. By excluding water in the anhydrous carrier medium, the organic silicon compound is protected from premature hydrolysis and is only converted into a hair care emulsion when needed by mixing with an aqueous phase, which activates the organic silicon compound by means of a hydrolysis reaction only shortly before application. Surprisingly, it was found that the combination of (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane with C8-C30 alkanes, in particular, increases cosmetic acceptance. The hair is soft, combability is significantly improved and the hair surface is more hydrophobic, especially in chemically treated hair.
[0080] According to preferred embodiments of the present invention, the alkane is a C10-C24 alkane, more preferably a C12-C18 alkane, and even more preferably a C14-C16 alkane. [0081] The combination of the organosilicon compound, specifically (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane, with the alkane forms a layer on the hair. The surface of oxidatively damaged hair is rehydrated, leading to a reduction in frizz. Furthermore, the hair's combability is improved.
[0082] As a third component essential to the invention, the anhydrous carrier medium contains at least one branched or linear C10-C30 fatty alcohol. This formulation always means that the hydrocarbon chain has 10 to 30 carbon atoms.
