Description
[0001] The invention relates to a tool container for holding tools according to the features in the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] Tool containers come in a wide variety of designs, particularly in the form of tool boxes or tool bags. They are used for storing and accessorizing a wide variety of tools. Tool containers often contain a special set of tools, or a so-called tool kit, i.e., a collection of tools for a specific task or purpose.
[0003] Devices for storing tools are known, for example from US 2,791,251 A or DE 10 2014 119 130 A1.
[0004] DE 27 36 994 C2 discloses a tool or equipment box with an upper part hinged to the long side of a lower box and inserts that can be swung out and in by the opening and closing movement of the box.
[0005] DE 29 38 552 A1 describes a plastic case, particularly for small electrical devices, consisting of a deep-drawn lid, a deep-drawn base, and a connected spine. The lid and base can be pivoted relative to each other via the spine so that the case, when closed, forms the outer shape of a book. The inner shape has deep-drawn recesses for accommodating the small electrical device. DE 200 00 771 U1 also describes a tool case with two case shells connected by hinges on one long side.
[0006] In the tool box known from US 2016 / 0144502 A1, inserts containing tools move into a removal position when the lid is opened.
[0007] US 5,139,143 A discloses a device with tools stored therein. The device has a flat base body with an inner side and an outer side. Holding devices for securing tools to the base body are provided on the inner side. The base body is divided into surface sections by several hinges. The surface sections can be folded around the hinges from a tool removal position, in which the surface sections lie essentially in one plane, into a storage position in which the outer sides of the surface sections form flat surfaces of a polygonal solid.
[0008] A storage device for tools is also part of the state of the art through EP 3 092 111 B1.
[0009] Other examples are known from US 5 248 030 A or EP 3 636 216 A2.
[0010] The known tool containers are generally suitable and have proven themselves in individual cases, but appear to be in need of improvement.
[0011] Based on the prior art, the invention is based on the object of functionally improving a tool container.
[0012] The solution to this problem consists in a tool container according to claim 1.
[0013] Advantageous embodiments and further developments of the tool container according to the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
[0014] The tool container for storing tools has a cuboid-shaped container body. The container body has a lid, a base, a front, a rear, and two side walls. At least parts of the lid, the base, the front, and the rear are formed by a cover. The cover is divided into surface sections by hinges. These surface sections form, at least in part, the lid, the base, the front, and the rear. The surface sections can be folded around the hinges. "Foldable" means that the surface sections can be pivoted or rotated relative to one another around the hinges.
[0015] According to the invention, each side wall has an upper side wall part and a lower side wall part. In each case, one upper side wall part is arranged on the edge of one side of the surface section forming the cover wall, and the other upper side wall part is arranged on the opposite edge of the surface section forming the cover wall. The lower side wall parts are each arranged on the edges of the opposite sides of the surface section forming the base wall. The upper side wall parts and the lower side wall parts are joined to the surface sections, preferably joined by a material bond, for example, glued. The upper side wall parts are preferably glued to the surface section in some regions, for example over one-third of their length, so that a longitudinal section of the upper side wall part is not joined to the cover wall.In this context, a preferred embodiment provides that the lid wall is formed from two surface sections connected by a hinge. The two side wall upper parts arranged to the left and right of the lid wall are then integrally joined to only one surface section, namely the front surface section facing the front wall. The rear surface section of the lid wall is not joined to the side wall upper parts and can be moved away from the side wall upper parts when the container body is opened and the upper part is positioned relative to the lower part.
[0016] The upper and lower side wall sections are made of a dimensionally stable, rigid material, particularly plastic. Each side wall section and upper and lower side wall sections complement each other to form a side wall of the container body. They form the outer lateral closure of the container body. On their inner sides, the upper and lower side wall sections have functional elements. Functional elements can be functional bodies, functional surfaces, or functional receptacles. Functional bodies, such as struts, serve in particular to stabilize the corresponding components or parts. Functional surfaces can also have a stiffening function for the side wall sections. Functional surfaces can also be used to connect or secure container components or container content components. Functional receptacles are used in particular to secure tools.
[0017] The lid wall with the two side wall upper sections form a lid section. The bottom wall with the two side wall lower sections form a base section. A support receptacle is provided on each side wall lower section, into which a side wall upper section can be inserted using a coupling element, so that the upper section can be positioned at an angle relative to the lower section. According to the invention, a positioning function of the lid section relative to the base section is thus realized. This improves the presentation and provision of the tools and facilitates their removal. Overall, the tool container is functionally and user-friendly thanks to the inventive design.
[0018] Particularly preferably, the coupling element is formed by a rear-wall end section of a side wall upper part. Accordingly, the upper part can be inserted with the end sections of the side wall upper parts into the support receptacles of the side wall lower parts.
[0019] In this case, wall areas of the end section can be positively accommodated in the support holder.
[0020] An embodiment of a tool container according to the invention which is particularly advantageous in practice provides that the support receptacle in a side wall lower part and the coupling element in a side wall upper part have support wall sections which are designed to be complementary to one another.
[0021] It is further advantageous in this context if a step is formed in the supporting wall section of the supporting wall receptacle and the supporting wall section has a step in the coupling element.
[0022] The side wall upper sections each have a back leg on the rear wall side that extends inward at a right angle from the adjacent side wall. The supporting wall section is formed with a step at the outer end section of the side wall upper sections.
[0023] When the lid is in its upright position, the rear wall and a rear-wall or rear surface section of the lid wall provide support for the lid. To this end, the rear wall and the surface section of the lid wall that is not firmly connected to the side wall upper parts form a tab. When the lid is in its upright position, the rear wall lies flat on the surface and thus extends from the base wall in a flat plane with the base wall of the lower part. The rear surface section of the lid wall forms a support strut or a support tab, which extends from the rear wall at an angle to the lid part.
[0024] The cover can be made of a flexible material. It can be a textile or a plastic, even a mixed plastic. A practical material for the cover is polyamide (nylon), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), or polypropylene (PP). A cover made of impregnated cardboard is also possible. A cover made of artificial or natural leather is also possible. A combination of a textile and a plastic material, for example, velour with a plastic film, also seems advantageous.
[0025] The cover can be made of a laminated material, i.e., it can be constructed in multiple layers. Preferably, the cover has an outer foil-like cover with inner stiffening inserts.
[0026] Preferably, the hinges between the surface sections of the cover are designed as film hinges. A film hinge is formed integrally with the elements to be connected, i.e., the surface sections to be connected. The film hinges form a thin-walled connection between the surface sections, which, due to their flexibility, enables rotation or folding of the connected surface sections relative to one another. The cover is thinner at the film hinges than in the connected surface sections. The film hinges extend, in particular, across the width of the cover. Advantageously, the film hinges are formed from the material forming the outer shell or outer layer of the cover.
[0027] The surface sections of the cover and the film hinges located between the surface sections have a wall thickness step between the film hinge and the respective surface section. In principle, a surface section itself can have wall thickness steps. In particular, a surface section has a central thickened or expanded surface area with peripheral, less thick edge areas. Wall thickness steps can also be realized by ribs or ribbing in a surface section, preferably in the surface section forming the cover wall.
[0028] Form-locking elements are provided on the upper and lower side walls, which engage with each other when the container body is closed. This design improves the functionality and stability of the tool container according to the invention. This design also reinforces the container body as a whole, so that the inner cavity of the container body and the tools stored therein are even better protected against impacts and similar stresses.
[0029] An advantageous embodiment provides that the form-fitting elements on the upper side wall part and the lower side wall part are formed by pockets or pocket-shaped recesses on the one hand, and complementary tabs or projections on the other. When the container body is closed, the tabs or projections engage in a corresponding pocket or receptacle. The pockets or receptacles on the one hand and the tabs or projections on the other hand have diagonally extending side limbs. A preferred embodiment in practice provides that the pockets or receptacles are trapezoidally configured, and the corresponding tabs or projections are complementarily trapezoidally shaped.
[0030] A further aspect of the invention provides for supporting bodies to be incorporated transversely between the lower side wall sections and / or transversely between the upper side wall sections. These supporting bodies are intended to hold tools and / or tool holders for tools. In particular, the supporting bodies serve to hold tool holders, whereby the tool holders can be interchangeably mounted in the supporting bodies. This enables a modular design of the container interior and a modular assembly of the tool container. The assembly of the tool container can be tailored to a wide variety of purposes and applications according to the modular principle by combining different tool holders with correspondingly different tools.
[0031] The support body is preferably formed by a rail, in particular a rail made of light metal. Of course, a support body can also be made of other materials, for example, plastic.
[0032] A rail-shaped support body has a central web with longitudinal chords, each end of which is aligned perpendicularly to the web and extends in the longitudinal direction of the support body. Flanges directed inward toward each other are attached to the upper longitudinal sides of the longitudinal chords. These flanges form clamping elements for receiving and / or securing a tool holder. The clamping elements can be provided continuously along one longitudinal side of the support body. Other designs of clamping elements are of course also possible. The support bodies have fixing elements, such as webs, on their underside. Using the fixing elements, the support bodies can be received and positioned in abutments, for example in slots. The abutments, in particular in the form of slots or similar form-fitting receiving configurations, are formed in particular in the side wall lower part and / or in the side wall upper part, in particular in inwardly projecting wall sections of a side wall lower part or a side wall upper part and / or the functional elements provided there.
[0033] Furthermore, holder sections for securing tools and / or tool holders are provided on the lower and / or upper sections of the side wall. The holder sections can be configured so that individual tools are held there in a positionally oriented manner. Another advantageous aspect provides for the holder sections to hold tool holders for a set of tools.
[0034] A particularly advantageous embodiment provides for at least one tool holder to be pivotably mounted in the container body. In the closed storage position of the container body or the tool container, the tool holders, with the tools contained therein, such as L-keys, lie in a plane parallel to the base and / or lid wall. In the removal position, the tool holders are raised, i.e., unfolded from the storage position, and oriented at an angle transversely, preferably perpendicularly, to the base and / or lid wall.
[0035] A further aspect of the invention provides for stiffening inserts to be integrated into the surface sections of the cover. The stiffening inserts are embedded in the material of the surface sections.
[0036] The stiffening inserts can be made of different materials, for example, plastic or metal. In practice, it is advantageous to provide at least two stiffening inserts made of different materials. In this case, stiffening inserts can be made of plastic, for example, glass-fiber-reinforced plastic, and at least one other material insert can be made of a metal, particularly a ferromagnetic material. This metallic stiffening insert has an additional function in locking the container body.
[0037] An advantageous embodiment provides that the tool container has a locking mechanism for closing the container body, in particular this is a magnetic locking mechanism.
[0038] The locking mechanism comprises at least one magnet and a locking body that interacts with the magnet. This locking body is made of a ferromagnetic material. This is preferably the stiffening insert in the surface section of the cover that forms the front wall. The front wall can also be formed by two surface sections. In this case, one surface section is connected to the surface section of the bottom wall via a hinge; preferably, this bottom-side surface section of the front wall is firmly joined to the end faces of the side wall lower parts. An upper surface section is connected to the surface section that forms the lid wall and forms a front-side locking tab for closing the container body.
[0039] A further advantageous embodiment provides for the magnet, in particular two magnets, to be provided in the outer region of the lower part. The permanent magnet is arranged in a leg directed toward the front wall, wherein the leg is preferably a one-piece component of a side wall lower part made of the same material.

[0041] In the Figures 1 to 18 The same reference symbols are used for identical or similar components, even if a repeated description is omitted for reasons of simplification.
[0042] Figure 1 shows a tool container 1 according to the invention in its closed tool storage position.
[0043] An open tool container 1 is shown in the illustrations of the Figures 2 to 7 as well as the Figure 17 .
[0044] Components and parts of the tool container 1 are additionally shown in the illustrations of the Figures 8 to 16 and the Figure 18 explained.
[0045] The tool container 1 for holding tools has a cuboid-shaped container body 2 in its closed storage position. The tool container 1 contains a tool set of various tools 3, 4.
[0046] The container body 2 has a lid wall 5, a bottom wall 6, a front wall 7, a rear wall 8, and two side walls 9, 10. The lid wall 5, the bottom wall 6, the front wall 7, and the rear wall 8 are formed by a cover 11.
[0047] Cover 11 is particularly in the Figure 8can be seen. The cover 11 is divided into surface sections 13 - 18 by hinges 12. The two surface sections 16 and 17 form the cover wall 5. The surface section 14 forms the bottom wall 6, the surface section 15 forms the rear wall 8 of the container body 2. The surface section 18 forms the front wall 7, with the comparatively short front surface section 13 being arranged on the inside of the front wall 7 and being partially overlapped by the front surface section 18 or the front wall 7. The surface sections 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 can be folded around the hinges 12. The front surface section 13 can also be folded around the hinge 12 provided towards the surface section 14. However, the front surface section 13 is firmly attached to the container body 2.
[0048] The hinges 12 between the individual surface sections 13-18 of the cover 11 are designed as film hinges. The film hinges extend across the width of the cover 11 and establish a thin-walled connection between adjacent surface sections 13-18, so that their flexibility allows rotation or folding of the connected surface sections 14-18 relative to one another. The cover 11 is thinner in the film hinges than in the surface sections 13-18. The cover 11 has an outer casing 19 made of a film-like material, for example, polyamide or another durable plastic film. Reinforcing inserts 20, 21 are integrated into the surface sections 14-18 of the cover wall 5, base wall 6, front wall 7, and back wall 8.The stiffening inserts 20 in the surface sections 14-17, which form the cover wall 5, the rear wall 8, and the base wall 6, are made of plastic, for example, a glass-fiber-reinforced plastic. The stiffening insert 21 in the surface section 18 forming the front wall 7 is made of a metal sheet, in particular a zinc sheet. In the . Figure 8 Two reinforcing inserts 20, 21 are shown as examples. One reinforcing insert 20 can be seen in the rear surface section 16 of the cover wall 5. This reinforcing insert 20 is made of glass fiber reinforced plastic. Furthermore, a reinforcing insert 21 is shown in the front surface section 18, which forms the front wall 7. This reinforcing insert 21 is made of sheet metal.
[0049] A side wall 9 or 10 is each formed from a side wall upper part 22 and a side wall lower part 23. A side wall upper part 22 is provided on the edge of each of the two surface sections 16, 17 forming the cover wall 5. The side wall upper parts 22 are firmly joined, in particular joined by a material fit, preferably glued, to the front surface section 17 directed towards the front wall 7. The side wall upper parts 22 have inwardly directed side legs 24 on the cover side. With the outer surfaces of the side legs 24, the side wall upper parts 22 rest on the inside or underside against the surface section 17 and are joined to it along their length parallel to the side wall 9 or 10.
[0050] The side wall lower parts 23 are each arranged at the edges on the opposite outer longitudinal sides of the surface section 14 forming the bottom wall 6 and are firmly joined to the surface section 14. This also takes place along the bottom-side side legs 25.
[0051] A lower side wall part 23 and an upper side wall part 22 each complement each other to form a side wall 9 or 10 of the container body 2.
[0052] The lid wall 5 and the two side wall upper parts 22 form a lid part 26. The bottom wall 6 with the two side wall lower parts 23 form a bottom part 27. Each side wall upper part 22 and each side wall lower part 23 has form-locking elements 28, 29 which engage with one another when the container body 2 is closed. The side wall lower parts 23 have upwardly projecting pocket sections 30 in the central longitudinal section. A trapezoidally configured pocket-shaped recess 31 is provided on the inside of each pocket section 30. The recess 31 is delimited by a bottom web 32 and two side struts 33 and forms the form-locking element 28. The form-locking elements 29 on the side wall upper parts 22 are formed by tongue sections 34. The tongue sections 34 are designed complementarily to the pocket sections 30 and also have a trapezoidal configuration with a front web 35 and two obliquely extending front bevels 36.
[0053] On each side wall lower part 23, a support receptacle 37 is provided, into which a side wall upper part 22 with a coupling element 38 can be inserted. In this way, the lid part 26 can be set up at an angle relative to the base part 27. The set-up tool removal or presentation position of the tool container 1 is particularly in the Figures 2 and 3 visible.
[0054] The coupling element 38 is formed by the rear-wall end section 39 of a side wall upper part 22. For this purpose, the end section 39 has a stepped configuration. The support receptacle 37 and the coupling element 38 or the rear-wall end section 39 have complementary support wall sections 40, 41. A step 42 is formed in the support wall section 40 of the support receptacle 37. The support wall section 41 in the coupling element 38 also has a step 43. When the cover part 26 is in the upright position, the end section 39 engages in the support receptacle 37. The support wall sections 40, 41 are supported against each other at the steps 42, 43.
[0055] In the erected position of the cover part 26, a support 44 is provided for the cover part 26. The support 44 is formed by the rear wall 8 and the rear surface section 16 of the cover wall 5. As is particularly evident from the Figures 2, 3 and 6As shown, the rear wall 8 is folded back by the erection of the cover part 26 and lies flat on the surface. The rear wall 8 extends horizontally away from the base wall 6, flat in a plane with the base wall 6 of the base part 27. The rear surface section 16 of the cover wall 5 is inclined away from the cover part 26 and forms a support tab 45, which extends from the rear wall 8 at a support angle oblique to the cover part 26.
[0056] Supporting bodies 46 can be inserted transversely between the side wall lower parts 23 and transversely between the side wall upper parts 22. In the exemplary embodiment of a tool container 1 shown here, supporting bodies 46 are shown in the lid part 26 between the side wall upper parts 22. The supporting bodies 46 are intended to hold tool holders 47 for tools 3, 4.
[0057] The supporting body 46 provided in the cover part 26 can be seen in the Figure 14. A single support body 46 is shown in the illustration of Figure 15 .
[0058] The support body 46 is formed by a rail 48 made of a light metal. Claw-shaped clamping elements 49 are provided on each of the longitudinal sides of the rail 48, which serve to receive or secure tool holders 47. A rail-shaped support body 46 has a central base web and, at each end, longitudinal flanges oriented perpendicularly to the base web. The longitudinal flanges are connected at the top by flanges directed inward toward each other, forming the clamping elements 49.
[0059] A tool holder 47 shows the Figure 16 The tool holder 47 is equipped with fixing bars 50 on its lower longitudinal sides 51, which can be coupled with the clamping elements 49 of the rail 48 in a force-locking and form-locking manner. The tool holder 47 has receptacles 52 for holding tools 3. In the Figure 16two holders 52 are equipped with tools 3 in the form of bits.
[0060] A tool holder 53 for holding a tool 4 in the form of a screwdriver and a tool attachment shows the representation of the Figure 18 . In the tool holders 53, recesses 54 adapted to the contour of the tool 4 are provided with clamping elements 55 integrated therein.
[0061] To hold the tool holder 53 in the container body 2, fixing elements 56 in the form of base-side webs 57 are provided, which can be inserted into clamping receptacles 58. The clamping receptacles 58 can be inserted through slots in the side legs 24 of the side wall upper parts 22.
[0062] The support bodies 46 also have fixing elements 59, which are realized by base-side webs 57. The fixing elements 59 provided on the undersides of the support bodies 46 are also fixed in clamping receptacles 58 in the side legs 24 of the side wall upper parts 22.
[0063] The Figures 11 and 13 illustrate that a side wall upper part 22 has a plurality of spaced-apart clamping receptacles 58 in the form of slots. The slots are arranged with a modular dimension so that either support bodies 46 or tool holders 53 can be used. It is understood that, depending on the configuration of the tool container 1, corresponding clamping receptacles 58 can also be provided on the side wall lower parts 23.
[0064] The Figures 10 and 13 and 4 and 5 further illustrate that the side wall lower parts 23 have holder sections 60 for securing tool holders 61. A mounted tool holder 61 with tools 3 integrated therein is shown in the Figures 4 and 5 to recognize.
[0065] The holder sections 60 are formed on the bottom-side inwardly directed side leg 25 of the side wall lower parts 23.
[0066] The side legs 25 point inward into the interior of the container body 2. The holder sections 60 are delimited in the center of the side wall lower parts 23 by transverse bulkheads 62. At the front wall end 63 and the rear wall end 64, the side wall lower parts 23 are delimited by a front leg 65 and a back leg 66. The side wall upper parts 22 also each have a front leg 67 and a back leg 68.
[0067] The Figures 4 and 5 show tool holders 61 fixed to the holder sections 60. As in particular the Figure 5 As illustrated, the tool holders 61 are arranged pivotably in the holding sections 60. To facilitate the removal of the tools 3 stored therein, the tool holders 61 can be set up and positioned upwards from the base wall 6. The Figure 5 shows an erected tool holder 61 with L-keys accommodated in it.
[0068] The tool container 1 has a lock 69. The lock 69 fixes the front wall 7 of the container body 2 in the closed storage position. The lock 69 has two magnets 70, which interact with a locking body 71. The locking body 71 is formed by the stiffening insert 21 made of ferromagnetic material in the front wall 7 or the surface section 18 of the cover 11 forming the front wall 7.
[0069] The magnets 70 are positioned in receptacles 72. The receptacles 72 are formed on the left and right front legs 65 of a side wall lower part 23, respectively. The front legs 65 are a one-piece component of a side wall lower part 23, made of a single material. The receptacles 72 are provided in the front legs 65, and the magnets 70 are fixed therein. The closing body 71 of the locking mechanism 69, formed by the stiffening insert 21, interacts with the magnets 70 and fixes the front wall 7 to the container body 2 at the end face via the magnets 70.
[0070] The surface section 13 forms a front boundary on the front wall 7 between the two side wall lower parts 23 and is firmly joined to the front joining surfaces 73 of the front legs 65 below the receptacles 72 for the magnets 70. Reference symbol:
