AI Technical Summary
Conventional glass strip mounting in aluminum window and door frames is cumbersome due to the rigid material properties of aluminum, which prevents bending and requires manual introduction of glazing seals, resulting in a visible gap and inefficient assembly process.
A glass strip system combining a plastic carrier profile with an aluminum cover, where the carrier profile is connected to the frame via a clip connection and features an extruded or rolled sealing lip, allowing for automatic seal introduction and a narrower gap, while the aluminum cover provides an aluminum look and easy assembly.
Enables quick glazing by turning, reduces assembly time, and achieves a narrower seal gap, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics by integrating the advantages of elastic PVC and corrosion-resistant aluminum.
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a frame profile assembly for window or door frames, comprising a frame profile and a glazing bead that can be clamped thereto. The invention also relates to a glazing bead for a frame profile assembly and a frame composed of multiple frame profile assemblies.
[0002] Such arrangements are generally known in the prior art, e.g. from DE-OS 2 012 353.
[0003] The glazing bead serves to secure a glass element between the frame profiles and the glazing beads after a frame has been manufactured from several such frame profile arrangements. This structure is used regardless of the material of the frame profile arrangement, i.e., for both PVC windows and doors and those made of aluminum. In addition to the frame and sash, a classic aluminum frame system also includes an aluminum glazing bead, which forms the transition between the sash frame profile or, in the case of fixed glazing, between the frame profile and the glazing.
[0004] Glazing beads are typically located on the side facing the room. This allows the glass element to be conveniently inserted from the room during initial window installation, and it is also easily accessible in the event of repairs. Not least for burglar-proof reasons, glazing beads are installed / inserted / mounted facing the interior of the building as standard.
[0005] The glazing bead snaps into place on the frame profile and secures the glass element within the frame or its frame profiles. The respective glazing bead is part of the cross or longitudinal member. The glazing beads form a circumferential frame and press the glass pane against a stop in the frame profile, thus locking the glass in the correct position within the glazing rebate. A seal, the so-called glazing seal, is located between the glazing bead and the glass pane.
[0006] Window frames and door frames are commonly made from hollow plastic profiles with glazing beads, also made from plastic, which are mitered at the ends. Since the plastic glazing beads possess a certain elasticity and are flexible, they can be precisely fitted by bending them. The two short sides are first snapped into place. The two long glazing beads are slightly bent before insertion and positioned in the corners of the sash frame. They are then hammered into the receiving groove of the sash or frame profile using a soft-face hammer. To achieve the best possible seal in the corner areas where the glazing bead profiles meet, the glazing bead profiles can be provided with an oversize.
[0007] A seal to the glass does not need to be added in a separate step; it can be extruded during the glazing bead profile production process. Otherwise, it is mounted to the glazing bead after production.
[0008] Since the glazing of windows and doors during initial production and also the
[0009] Since removing glass during repairs, such as broken glass, is one of the most essential and frequently used procedures in construction, glazing beads are particularly important. They ensure a smooth and routine installation process.
[0010] A primary goal is to apply the proven advantages of a tried and tested frame processing method with plastic frame profiles, also for frames, e.g. for windows or doors, with an aluminum look.
[0011] Aluminum profiles are rigid and non-bendable, which is why conventional glazing bead installation, which involves bending at a miter cut, is not applicable. Due to the material properties of aluminum, a glazing bead can only be installed in the corner area with a straight cut into the sash or frame profile. The glazing beads are joined to form a frame parallel to the glass element on the sash or frame profile, and meet at the corners with a butt joint.
[0012] The glazing seal can only be inserted after the glazing beads have been installed, between the glazing beads and the glass element. This step is always performed manually and cannot be automated. The current processing of glazing beads by aluminum system providers is therefore cumbersome. A simpler and faster processing method is required.
[0013] In addition, a subsequently installed wedge seal has a very large gap for technical reasons, which represents the visible width of the seal of approximately 12 mm, which is also undesirable and has a negative impact on the external appearance.
[0014] The object of the invention is therefore to combine the advantages of elastic PVC with the corrosion-resistant and optical properties of aluminum and to provide a frame profile arrangement with a glazing bead that enables rapid glazing by bending and preferably allows the use of extruded, extruded or rolled-in seals, since here the seal can be inserted into the glazing bead automatically and the gap size, in particular of approx. 3-5 mm, is significantly smaller.
[0015] In contrast to aluminum glazing beads, plastic glazing beads can be fitted with seals during production, eliminating the need to subsequently insert a wedge seal between the glass element and the glazing bead.
[0016] A glazing bead comprising a plastic support profile that can be clamped to the frame profile and an aluminum cover is known from DE202019107047U and from FR2904354A.
[0017] This object is achieved by a glass strip according to claim 14.
[0018] The invention can therefore exploit the advantages of installing a classic plastic glazing bead with the plastic support profile and then utilize the advantages provided by aluminum as a material with the aluminum cover.
[0019] The support profile fulfills the function of a conventional glazing bead. It is characterized by a fully functional plastic profile, preferably one that, viewed in cross-section, has a closed plastic shell on all outer sides, enclosing hollow spaces within. The support profile is preferably connected to the frame profile via a clip connection, or at least connectable. For this purpose, the clip foot is positioned in the receiving groove of the frame profile and securely clipped into place.
[0020] The support profile has at least one sealing lip. This can preferably be extruded onto the support profile, extruded into it, or inserted, in particular rolled into it. The support profile preferably has a receiving groove to accommodate this so-called glazing seal. This can be extruded during the extrusion process, or it can be rolled in with mechanical assistance, or it can be inserted manually afterward.
[0021] A preferred variant provides for at least one sealing lip to be extruded onto the part during the extrusion process. It should be emphasized that the possibility of extruding sealing materials, such as EPDM, into or onto the part, is only possible with plastic materials.
[0022] In a preferred embodiment, the aluminum cover has at least one locking lug or positioning lug, with which the aluminum cover is held in a locking or at least positioning manner in a receiving groove of the support profile. The locking lug or positioning lug can further preferably be shaped complementarily to the receiving groove.
[0023] In particular, it is provided that the aluminum cover has two locking lugs or positioning lugs, each of which is assigned a receiving groove on the support profile.
[0024] The receiving groove serves as a fastening means and / or positioning for the aluminum cover, which forms the outer cover of the visible surface of the support profile.
[0025] In the preferred embodiment, the aluminum cover forms a clamp connection with the plastic support profile when clicked onto it and gives the frame profile with glazing bead a uniform external appearance in aluminum look.
[0026] The aluminum cover preferably has two locking lugs formed by protrusions that can be locked into the support profile and are preferably shaped complementarily to the receiving grooves in the support profile for a locking connection. The locking lug can be hook-shaped, for example, but can optionally also be designed as studs or bulges that, after installation, lock into corresponding recesses, undercuts, or cutouts in the support profile.
[0027] A snap-in connection is a type of connection that is extremely suitable for the material and easy to assemble and disassemble.
[0028] The aluminum cover is placed parallel to the support profile like a cap and pressed into place. When the aluminum cover is clicked onto the support profile, a snap-in connection is created between the two profiles.
[0029] Alternatively, an aluminum cover is conceivable, which is equipped with a locking lug or at least a positioning lug and is additionally glued to the support profile. The locking lug or positioning lug serves to position the aluminum cover during assembly, which is then pivoted onto the support profile and glued in place.
[0030] The aluminum cover can therefore be connected to the support profile only by snapping, only by adhesive (especially positioned with a positioning lug) or by a combination of snapping and adhesive.
[0031] The aluminum cover preferably has, viewed in cross-section, two arms each with a free end, preferably which are prestressed towards each other, in particular thereby giving the snap-in connection a tight fit. The angle between the arms with the free end can be 90 degrees. It can also be provided that the angle is less than 90 degrees, in particular 87 to 89.9 degrees, in order to achieve prestressing. The arms with the free ends can be connected directly to each other. It can also be provided that the aluminum cover has two arms with free ends which are connected by a connecting arm, wherein each arm with a free end encloses an angle of greater than 90 degrees, in particular an angle of 125 to 145 degrees, with the connecting arm.
[0032] The aluminum cover can be snapped / clicked onto the plastic support profile without tools and can preferably be removed just as easily.
[0033] Ideally, when assembling a frame made from frame profile assemblies according to the invention, the PVC support profiles, which serve as glazing beads, are first joined to the frame profile and assembled using the usual procedure. The aluminum covers are then placed, particularly snapped, onto the support profiles to ensure a uniform external appearance.
[0034] The glazing bead frame according to the invention comprises, when assembled, a concealed frame of PVC support profiles and a visually visible frame consisting of aluminum covers. The aluminum covers can be straight or mitered in the corners. The support profiles are preferably mitered like conventional glazing beads.
[0035] Additionally, the aluminum cover can be attached to the support profile by additional, spot or surface bonding, e.g., using adhesives or double-sided tape. Selecting suitable adhesives ensures residue-free removal of the aluminum cover when replacing the aluminum cover or support profile.
[0036] The aluminum cover can be designed in various geometries. It can be provided that the aluminum cover, in the assembled state, in particular in the visible area, is arranged in contact with the support profile and / or at a partial distance from it. In particular, at least one cavity can be enclosed between the support profile and the aluminum cover, in particular if the support profile has a bevel on the outer visible side, which is covered by the aluminum cover. It is preferably provided that the aluminum cover completely covers the visible area of the support profile, from the glazing seal of the support profile to the frame profile, in particular adjoins the glazing seal without gaps.
[0037] It is further preferably provided that the wall thickness of the webs forming the outer wall of the support profile, in particular the wall thickness of the webs in contact with the aluminum cover, is less than the wall thickness of the webs of the support profile pointing towards the glass rebate of the frame profile and / or than the wall thickness of the webs of the support profile not in contact with the aluminum cover.
[0038] For different glazing thicknesses, i.e., different thicknesses of the glass elements, the width of the glazing beads must be adjusted. The preferred option for this is a universally applicable support profile.
[0039] The invention provides that the support profile is formed by a base profile and an attachment profile attached or attachable to it. The support profile is thus formed in two parts. The base profile and attachment profile can preferably be detached from each other again after attachment.
[0040] The attachment profile has the glazing seal in the form of at least one sealing lip.
[0041] The connection between the base profile and the attachment profile is preferably formed in a leg of the support profile, which, or its lower surface, is parallel to the glass rebate surface of the frame profile when installed.
[0042] The invention preferably provides for the length of this leg of the support profile to be variable.
[0043] Preferably, at least one of the profiles of the base profile and the attachment profile can be shortened. This shortening capability is preferably implemented in such a way that, even after shortening, the respective profile still has a fastening area for the other profile. Particularly preferably, the base profile is designed to be shortenable, in particular on the side facing the glazing seal.
[0044] The shortenable profile, in particular the base profile, can be open toward the other profile, in particular the attachment profile. A recess is formed at these open ends, to or in which the other profile, in particular the attachment profile, can be or is attached.
[0045] The open recess on the shortenable profile is preferably surrounded by recess walls and at least one recess wall has a fastening structure pointing into the interior of the recess, to which the other profile can be fastened, in particular with a corresponding fastening element.
[0046] To form a fastening structure, at least one recess wall, preferably two opposing recess walls, has a plurality of, preferably equidistant, locking grooves. Each locking groove preferably runs parallel to the opening plane of the open recess. Different locking grooves on the same recess wall have different distances from the opening plane.
[0047] The profile that can be fastened to the shortenable profile, e.g. the base profile, e.g. the attachment profile, preferably has a fastening area that can be inserted into the open recess, e.g. with a collar as a corresponding fastening element that engages in at least one locking groove of a recess wall.
[0048] In this embodiment, the support profile can be shortened to suit the glass thickness by cutting, sawing, or milling one of the two profiles of the base profile or the attachment profile from which the support profile is formed, to the appropriate size, particularly thereby reducing the depth of the open recess. The open profile side of the cut-to-length profile, in particular the base profile, is closed with the other profile, in particular the attachment profile, preferably made of TPE.
[0049] Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) combine the efficient processing properties of thermoplastics with the softness and flexibility of elastomers and fulfill the function of a plug that closes the open profile.
[0050] Preferably, the attachment profile has the collar located in the open recess, which engages in the inner profiling of the base profile formed by the locking grooves, so that a firm locking connection is created between the attachment profile and the base profile.
[0051] The attachment profile and the preferably open base profile together form a support profile that is covered with the aluminum cover.
[0052] When installed, the aluminum cover preferably connects seamlessly to the glazing seal and the frame profile, in particular to an aluminum cover that is also located on the frame profile.
[0053] The glazing bead according to the invention offers a significant advantage for the isothermal flow thanks to its "substructure" of the plastic support profile. Since plastic has lower thermal conductivity than aluminum, thermal insulation is supported and the isothermal flow in the critical transition area between the glazing bead and the glazing is optimized.
[0054] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings. The figures show in detail: Fig. 1 shows the cross section through a sash and a frame profile with the glazing bead with extruded sealing lips. Fig. 2 shows a detailed view in cross section for the execution of the Figure 1through the glazing bead with extruded sealing lips. Fig. 7a shows the detailed view in cross section through the glazing bead according to the invention in a further embodiment of an open, shortenable base profile with an attachment profile Fig. 7b shows the detailed view in cross section through the glazing bead according to the invention in a further embodiment of an open base profile after shortening with an attachment profile Fig. 7c shows the detailed view in cross section through the glazing bead according to the invention in a further embodiment of an open, maximally shortened base profile with an attachment profile.
[0055] In Figure 1A cross-section through a sash and a frame profile 10, 20 with the glazing bead 25 with extruded sealing lips 40 is shown. A frame assembly consisting of a sash and frame profile 10, 20 in the closed position is shown. This is a system in which the sash and frame profile 10, 20 essentially has a plastic core and is covered with aluminum shells 20', 20" on the visible surfaces facing the weather and the room. In this version, the two-part glazing bead 25 is composed of the support profile 30 and an aluminum cover 30'. The support profile 30 is formed from a hollow plastic profile.
[0056] The support profile 30 performs the function of the glazing bead known in the prior art and clamps the glass element (not shown) between the sash overlap 23 and the support profile 30. The support profile 30 is elastically clipped into the receiving groove 32 of the sash frame profile 20 with its clip foot 31. The contact pressure positions the glass element centrally between the sash overlap 23 and the support profile 30 and clamps it firmly in the area of the glass rebate.
[0057] The Figure 1 shows a seal extruded onto the support profile 30 during the extrusion process. Two sealing lips 40 of the seal are arranged between the glass element and the sash frame profile 20. When the support profile 30 is fitted, the sealing lips 40 are pressed together to form a gap of approximately 3-5 mm with the glass element. Only one sealing lip 40 can also be provided. The appearance of a narrow sealing gap is desirable.
[0058] To visually unify the frame assembly in aluminum look, the PVC support profile 30 is covered with an aluminum cover 30'.
[0059] Figure 2 shows a detailed view of Figure 1 Cross-section through the two-part glazing bead 25 with extruded sealing lips 40. The aluminum cover 30' can be snapped / clicked onto the plastic support profile 30 without tools and can be removed just as easily. It serves as a visual enhancement and does not have a static holding function for the glass element.
[0060] The 30' aluminum cover has two arms with free ends 35, 36 that are pre-tensioned to each other, providing a tight fit for the locking connection. The arms of the aluminum cover with free ends 35, 36 are directly connected to each other and can form an angle of 90 degrees between them, or, to create pre-tension, an angle slightly smaller than 90 degrees, e.g., 87 to 89.9 degrees.
[0061] The aluminum cover 30', which preferably corresponds in length to the length of the support profile 30, is clicked into the preferably complementarily shaped receiving grooves 32, which in turn form grooves extending in the longitudinal direction, by means of the locking lugs 33 shown in cross section, which form continuous projections along their longitudinal extent. The receiving grooves 32 can preferably be provided with undercuts so that the respective locking lug 33 can engage there.
[0062] Optionally, adhesive can be used as an additional connecting means, which is applied between the support profile 30 and the aluminum cover 30' in a point-like or planar manner, in particular on the surface of one or each of the two arms with the free ends 35, 36.
[0063] The two-part glazing bead 25 is preferably characterized in that the wall thickness of the webs of the support profile 30 facing the outer visible side in the contact area with the aluminum cover 30' is less than the wall thickness of the webs of the support profile 30 facing the interior or the glazing rebate surface in the area not contacted by the aluminum cover. By covering the aluminum cover 30', the webs or outer walls 37 of the support profile 30 facing the visible area can have a material-saving, smaller wall thickness than the inner webs / inner walls.
[0064] Furthermore, the aluminum cover 30' completely covers the visible area from the glazing seal 40 to the frame profile 10 / 20 (sash or frame profile) or its aluminum cover. The geometry of the aluminum cover 30' can preferably correspond to the geometry of the visible surface of the support profile 30.
[0065] Figure 3 represents a cross-section through a sash and a frame profile 20, 10 with the glazing bead 25 with rolled or hand-drawn seal 40. The type of seal 40 is the only difference in this embodiment compared to the frame assembly in Figure 1 .
[0066] The support profile 30 has a seal receiving groove 41 to accommodate a so-called glazing seal 40. An example of a rolled seal 40 is shown. This may have already been rolled in with the aid of a machine during the extrusion process. Figure 4 shows the detailed view of Figure 3in cross-section through the glazing bead 25 with rolled or hand-drawn seal 40.
[0067] The support profile 30 here forms the part of the glazing bead 25 with holding and clamping function and the aluminum cover 30' engages around the outer surfaces 37 of the support profile 30 in the visible area.
[0068] In the contact area of the support profile 30 with the aluminum cover 30', the outer wall thickness of the walls / webs 37 of the support profile 30 is also smaller than that of the webs in the non-contact area, or those facing the glazing rebate surface. When installed, the aluminum cover 30' borders seamlessly on the seal 40 and the sash frame profile 20 / or, in the case of fixed glazing, on the frame profile 10.
[0069] Figure 5shows a detailed cross-sectional view of the glazing bead 25 in another embodiment of the support profile 30 with a rolled-in or hand-drawn seal 40'. This design can also be provided with an extruded seal 40. This variant differs in a different design of the support profile 30. The outer wall 37 is provided with a bevel on the room side.
[0070] The same aluminum cover 30 as for the Figures 1 to 4 described, can be used despite varying shapes of the support profile 30. In the assembled state, the aluminum cover 30' can contact the support profile 30 in sections in the visible area and can be arranged at a distance from it in sections, particularly in the overlap area of the bevel, and thereby enclose at least one cavity 42 between itself and the support profile 30.
[0071] Figure 6shows a detailed view in cross section through the glazing bead 25 in a further embodiment of the aluminum cover 30' with rolled or hand-drawn seal 40, which is also possible with extruded seal 40. In contrast to the embodiment in Figure 5 In the assembled state, the support profile 30 is arranged in the visible area in complete contact with the aluminum cover 30'.
[0072] In this embodiment, the aluminum cover 30' has two arms with free ends, which are indirectly connected via a connecting arm, wherein the angles between an arm with a free end and the connecting arm are greater than 90 degrees, and the arms with the free ends are at least substantially at 90 degrees to each other or at an angle of less than 90 degrees, in particular 87 to 89.9 degrees. The outer shape of the support element 30 and the inner shape of the aluminum cover 30' are preferably congruent.
[0073] Figure 7ashows a detailed view in cross section through the glass strip 25 according to the invention in a further embodiment in which the support profile 30 is formed from a base profile 30a and an attachment profile 50.
[0074] The attachment profile 50 has a seal 40 extruded onto it or, as shown here, inserted into the sealing groove 41.
[0075] According to the invention, this embodiment provides that the base profile 30a is an open profile whose cross-section can be shortened on the side facing the seal 40. The open profile side is closed with the attachment profile 50, preferably made of TPE. Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) combine the efficient processing properties of thermoplastics with the softness and flexibility of elastomers and here fulfill the function of a plug that closes the open base profile 30a.
[0076] The base profile has an open recess 30b on the side facing the seal 40, e.g., in the profile arm 38, which, when installed, lies parallel to the glass rebate surface of the frame profile 10 / 20. At least two opposing walls surrounding the recess 30b have a profile. The profile is formed here by locking grooves 30c. Each locking groove 30c runs parallel to the opening plane of the recess 30b of the base profile 30a. The locking grooves 30c are preferably arranged equidistant from one another on the same inner wall of the recess 30b.
[0077] The collar 50a of the attachment profile 50 located inside the recess engages into the inner profiling, in particular the locking groove 30c on the inner wall of the recess 30b of the support profile 30a, so that a firm locking connection is created between the attachment profile 50 and the base profile 30a.
[0078] The attachment profile 50 and the open base profile 30a form in conjunction with each other the carrier profile 30 of a glazing bead 25, which is analogous to the carrier profile 30 of the previously described embodiments of the Figures 1 to 6 corresponds.
[0079] By shortening the profile arm 38 of the base profile 30a, which reduces the depth of the open recess 30b, the glazing bead 25 according to the invention can be adapted to glass elements of different thicknesses.
[0080] When installed, the aluminum cover 30' connects seamlessly to the seal 40 and to the sash frame profile 20 / or, in the case of fixed glazing, to the frame profile 10 or its aluminum cover.
[0081] Figure 7b and 7c show detailed views in cross section through the glazing bead 25 according to the invention in further embodiments of an open, shortened base profile 30a with an attachment profile 50 in a medium length at Figure 7b or, as in Figure 7cshown in a maximum shortened length of the base profile 30a.
[0082] The attachment profile 50 is always the same. The base profile 30a is also always the same, only with different degrees of shortening. Thus, different installation situations can be served with the same components.
[0083] The base profile 30a can be shortened according to the glass width by cutting, sawing or milling it.
[0084] The shortenable connection between the base profile and the attachment profile shown here can also be implemented in the opposite way, i.e., the attachment profile can be shortened in length and attached to the base profile 30a. In this case, the attachment profile can have an open recess for attachment purposes, the depth of which can be adjusted by shortening the attachment profile. List of reference symbols
