Description

[0001] The invention relates to a die for a bending or folding device, and to a bending or folding device with such a die.

[0002] When bending sheet metal in lower dies with adjustable die elements, particularly around a bending jaw that rotates parallel to a central plane of the die, as described in JP H03 14010 U, the force applied by the tools to the workpiece is already distributed over a surface. This represents a significant improvement compared to bending in V-diees; however, due to the nature of the process, some relative movement still occurs between the workpiece and the contact surface of the rotating bending jaws. This results in minor scratches on the manufactured bent parts.

[0003] To reduce scratches on the bent part caused by relative movement between the workpiece and the bending die during the forming process, it has been proposed to insert a sliding element, for example made of spring steel, between the workpiece and the bending die. In this case, relative movement occurs only between the bending die and the sliding element. There is no relative movement between the workpiece and the sliding element, and therefore no or only a few scratches can occur. An example of such a device is disclosed in EP 3127626 B1. The return of the sliding elements is achieved by spring elements or...An elastic design of a section of the sliding elements is achieved, which exerts a preload force to move the sliding elements parallel to the bearing surface on the bending dies in a mutual separation direction, while still allowing them to move in a mutual approach direction towards the pivotable element against the preload force along with the stretching of the workpiece during the bending process. The movable plates are secured to the pivotable elements by locking elements, the heads of which are positioned outside the movable plates and serve as stops to limit the pivotable elements in their initial position under the preload force. A similar design is also disclosed in US 2017259316 A1.If the spring elements are omitted or broken, the sliding element would be able to move freely without force, but would have to be manually or by an additional device moved back to the starting position after each bending process.

[0004] Finally, DE 19840563 C1 discloses a device for die bending, free bending, or stamping bending, comprising a die having a notch and a punch for pressing a workpiece positioned over the notch to be bent. The device has intermediate plates extending beyond the notch edges, which act as a shield against the workpiece and are pivotable about axes running parallel to the notch edges. The intermediate plates keep the workpiece away from the notch edges, thereby preventing damage to the workpiece from the notch edges or mutual entanglement and distortion of the deformation. These intermediate plates are pivotable or, in the form of sliding elements, can be displaced without pivoting or force, in such a way that they can at least partially and substantially follow the movement and deformation of the workpiece during bending.

[0005] The object of the present invention was a device that enables the effective and material-friendly machining of workpieces with increased functional reliability and a simple design. To allow sufficient travel for the sliding elements, a further objective of the invention is an advantageous shape for them.

[0006] This task is solved by a device according to the claims.

[0007] The device according to the invention is based on a die for a bending or folding device, comprising a base body; at least one pair of bending jaws, which are passively pivotable in the base body about axes parallel to a central plane of the die and which form a flat support surface in the home position and a V-shaped die in the folding position in the base body; at least one return element for each bending jaw, which applies a force to the bending jaw towards the home position;at least one sliding element for each bending jaw, wherein two sliding elements in the basic position rest symmetrically to the central plane on the bending jaws and with flat support sections form a flat, preferably closed support surface for a workpiece parallel to the support surface of the bending jaws, and which are arranged so that they can slide on the support surface of the bending jaw during the bending process parallel to the support surface and transversely to the axis with a workpiece to be processed, wherein a widened edge section of each sliding element projects further outwards from the central plane beyond the outer edge of the bending jaw facing away from the central plane.

[0008] To solve the stated problems, the die according to the invention is characterized by a support section that is rigidly arranged on the sliding element. In the initial position of the bending jaw and the sliding element, the support section rests against a fixed support point on the base body during the bending process. In the bending position, the support section is free of force and lifted from the support point. This eliminates the need for spring elements or resilient sections of the sliding elements, which would not only increase the complexity of the design but could also break or cause other malfunctions that could disrupt the process and / or damage the workpiece.

[0009] Preferably, the support section is offset outside the plane of the bearing section of the sliding element in the direction of the base body and is arranged parallel to the bearing section, offset from the outermost edge of the bearing section of the sliding element towards the central plane.

[0010] A structurally simple solution to provide sufficient mobility to the sliding element is an embodiment according to the invention in which at least one connecting section, preferably concave in the direction of the base body, extends between the outermost edge of the bearing section of the sliding element and the support section. This shape of the outer section of the sliding element allows it to slide into the die with the workpiece without prematurely contacting the bending jaws or connected components.

[0011] An advantageous embodiment with a support section formed by an edge strip of the connecting section arranged perpendicular to the support section results in a large contact area between the sliding element and the support section, which ensures a low surface load and thus significantly reduces or completely prevents damage to the contacting sections of the sliding elements and the support points.

[0012] Another embodiment of a die according to the invention is characterized in that a preferably adjustable limiting element is arranged in the area of the pivot point of the return element on the bending die, which defines the outermost position of the sliding element on the bending die. This limits the sliding elements' displacement from the central plane of the device and ensures that a consistent starting position for the beginning of the machining process can always be reproduced.

[0013] Preferably, the sliding elements are detachably attached to the bending jaws.

[0014] Another advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that at least one mushroom-shaped fixing element is arranged in the area of the pivot point of the return element on the bending die, and that at least one keyhole-shaped recess, matching and thus cooperating with the fixing element, is arranged in the area of the support section of the sliding element. This secures the sliding elements on the bending dies against unintentional falling off, while still allowing for simple and quick replacement of the sliding elements if necessary.

[0015] The advantage of a further embodiment of a die is the simple retrofitting of existing devices, in which at least one retaining clip is used in the area of the pivoting of the return element on the bending jaw, to which the limiting element and / or the fixing element is attached or can be attached.

[0016] According to a first embodiment, the retaining clip comprises a first section that has a receptacle for the limiting element or the fixing element. Preferably, this receptacle is a threaded bore into which a screw can be inserted, acting as the limiting element or fixing element. The first section preferably runs parallel to the support section of the sliding element. The retaining clip further comprises a second section with a connection structure to the bending jaw, preferably its spring anchor.

[0017] A particularly quick and easy assembly of the retaining clip is possible with an embodiment in which the second section of the retaining clip has an opening through which the spring anchor of the bending jaw can be passed, wherein the second section runs essentially transversely to the first section.

[0018] Preferably, the second section of the retaining clamp is located in the operating position between the bending cheek and a transverse bore for attaching the return element.

[0019] Preferably, a fixation is provided by means of the return element suspended in the transverse bore, which avoids the need for additional fixing devices.

[0020] The present invention also relates to a complete bending or folding device, comprising at least one die with a base body and at least one pair of bending jaws, which bending jaws are passively pivotable in the base body about axes parallel to a central plane of the die and which form a flat support surface in the home position and form a V-shaped die in the base body in the folding position; at least one return element for each bending jaw, which return element applies a force to the bending jaw towards the home position;at least one sliding element for each bending jaw, wherein two sliding elements in the basic position rest symmetrically to the central plane on the bending jaws and with flat support sections form a flat, preferably closed support surface for a workpiece parallel to the support surface of the bending jaws, and which are arranged so that they can slide on the support surface of the bending jaw during the bending process parallel to the support surface and transversely to the axis with a workpiece to be processed, wherein a widened edge section of each sliding element projects further outwards from the central plane beyond the outer edge of the bending jaw facing away from the central plane;and at least one punch, which is movably arranged along the median plane to exert a push-pull force on a workpiece resting on the bending jaws and the sliding elements, thereby causing the bending jaws to pivot and simultaneously bending the workpiece along a bending line lying in the median plane. To solve the stated problem, at least one die of such a device is designed as described in one of the preceding paragraphs.

[0021] Advantageously, several dies can also be arranged in a row in a longitudinal direction with a common central plane for bending a workpiece that is longer than a single die. In this case, an advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that at least one sliding element is longer than a single die, preferably the same length as or longer than the workpiece.

[0022] To better understand the invention, it is explained in more detail with reference to the following figures.

[0023] They each show, in a highly simplified, schematic representation: Fig. 1 shows the upper region of a die with pivotable bending jaws, according to the prior art, in a perspective view; Fig. 2 shows the upper region of a die according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, with an attached sliding element, in a perspective view; Fig. 3 shows a vertical cross-section through the die of the Fig. 2 , perpendicular to the central plane, on the right side with a retaining clip for the sliding element according to a preferred embodiment; Fig. 4 a view according to Fig. 2 a die with secured sliding elements on both bending jaws as a bearing surface; Fig. 5 a vertical cross-section according to Fig. 3 a bending or folding device with a die according to Fig. 4, in a position at the beginning of the deformation process; Fig. 6 a vertical cross-section through a device according to Fig. 5 , in a position at the end of the deformation process.

[0024] It should be noted at the outset that in the differently described embodiments, identical parts are provided with the same reference numerals or component designations, and the disclosures contained in the entire description can be applied analogously to identical parts with the same reference numerals or component designations. Furthermore, the positional indications chosen in the description, such as top, bottom, side, etc., refer to the directly described and illustrated figure, and these positional indications must be applied analogously to any change in position. For better understanding of the structure, elements may also be shown partially out of scale and / or enlarged and / or reduced in size.

[0025] The die 1 for a bending or folding device comprises a base body 2 in which at least one pair of bending jaws 3 are held. The bending jaws 3 are passively pivotable in the base body 2 about axes B lying parallel to a central plane M of the die 1, symmetrically about this central plane. Fig. 1 The basic position shown forms a flat support surface 4 for the workpiece W to be machined, and in the bending position - see Fig. 5 and Fig. 6- form a V-shaped die in the base body 2. At least one return element 5, preferably in the form of a tension spring, is provided for each bending jaw 3. Advantageously, several return elements 5 are present, acting on one and the same bending jaw 3, wherein the area of the pivot point of the return element 5 on the bending jaw 3 is designed, for example, as a pin-shaped spring anchor 3a with a transverse bore for attaching the tension spring used as the return element 5. The return element 5 exerts a force on the bending jaw 3 which is capable of returning the bending jaw 3 from any position rotated about the axis B from the home position back to the home position, provided that no other forces act on the bending jaw 3.

[0026] As already revealed in the prior art, at least one sliding element 6 is required for each bending cheek 3 - in Fig. 2Only one sliding element 6 is shown – provided that, corresponding to the bending cheeks 3 which are symmetrically opposite each other with respect to the central plane M of the die 1, two sliding elements 6 are also arranged symmetrically to the central plane M in the basic position. The sliding elements 6 are located – as shown in Fig. 4 The sliding elements 6 rest on the bearing surfaces 4 of the bending dies 3 and, with their flat bearing sections 7, form a flat, preferably closed, bearing surface for a workpiece, which lies parallel to the bearing surface 4 of the bending dies. A widened edge section 8 of each sliding element 6 projects outwards beyond the outer edge of the bending die 3, the edge facing away from the central plane M of the die 1.

[0027] Each sliding element 6 further comprises at least one support section 9, which is rigidly arranged on the sliding element 6, preferably integrally formed with the sliding element 6 as an edge strip arranged perpendicular to its bearing section 7. The support section 9 lies outside the plane of the bearing section 7 of the sliding element 6 and is additionally offset from the outermost edge of the bearing section 7 of the sliding element 6 towards the central plane M in the direction of the base body 2 or in the direction of the central plane M. Preferably, the support section 9 is offset inwards from the edge section 8, in particular from its inner region.

[0028] To avoid impeding the movement of the sliding element 6 parallel to the bearing surface 4 of the bending jaws 3 in a manner that would impair its function, preferably at least one connecting section 10 extends inwards between the outermost edge of the bearing section 7 of the sliding element 6 (i.e., the edge furthest from the median plane M) towards the base body 2 and towards the support section 9. The connecting section 10 is preferably concavely curved towards the base body 2 so that it can conform to the outer surface of the bending jaw 3. The connecting section 10 then transitions into the support section 9, which thus forms the edge strip of the connecting section 10.

[0029] As a counterpart to the support section 9 of the sliding element 6, a fixed support point 11 is provided at every stage of the workpiece W machining process. This fixed support point 11, at least during the workpiece W machining process, is preferably arranged on the base body 2 of the die 1 and is formed in particular by its outer side surface, and possibly also by projections, ridges, bulges, or similar structures. In the basic position of the bending jaw 3 and the sliding element 6 – as shown in Fig. 4 As shown, the support section 9 of the sliding element 6 is in contact with the stationary support point 11 on the base body 2 of the die 1. During the deformation of the workpiece W, i.e., during the bending or folding process, in the folding position of the bending jaws 3 rotated about the axis B, the support section 9 is, however, free of force and lifted from the support point 11.

[0030] Advantageously, a preferably adjustable limiting element 12 is arranged in the area of the pivot point of the return element 5 on the bending die 3. This limiting element 12 forms a stop for the sliding element 6 as it moves outwards, away from the central plane M of the die 1, and thus defines the outermost position that the sliding element 6 can assume on the bending die 3. At the same time, the limiting element 12, which may be designed, for example, as a screw or rivet with a narrower shank 13 and a wider or mushroom-shaped head 14, can also serve as a fastening for the sliding element 6.

[0031] Preferably, the sliding elements 6 are detachably attached to the bending jaws 3. A particularly simple and therefore preferred arrangement for the detachable, temporary fixing of the sliding elements 6 to the bending jaws 3 comprises a fixing element that widens in a mushroom shape at its outer end, wherein, in the illustrated embodiment, the limiting element 12 also assumes the function of the fixing element. The fixing element—if designed as a separate element—is also positioned in the area of the pivot point of the return element 5 on the bending jaw 3.

[0032] To preferably detachably fix the sliding element 6 to the bending cheek 3, at least one keyhole-shaped recess 15, matching and thus cooperating with each limiting element 12 or fixing element, is preferably arranged in the area of the support section 9 of the sliding element 6. This recess 15 has a section whose width is slightly larger than the widened part of the fixing element, for example, larger than the diameter of the head 14 of a screw. The recess 15 also has a narrower section whose width is smaller than the diameter of the head 14, but slightly larger than the diameter of the shank 13 of the screw or of each fixing element or limiting element 12.When the sliding element 6 rests on the bending die 3, the narrower section of the recess 15 lies below the head 14. This fixes the sliding element 6 to the bending die 3 and simultaneously limits its outward movement away from the central plane M of the die 1 at the underside of the head 14. However, when the sliding element 6 is lifted perpendicular to the support surface 4 of the bending die 3, the wider section of the recess 15 moves into the area of the head 14. This allows the sliding element 6 to be pulled laterally, i.e., parallel to the support surface 4, away from the limiting element 12 or fixing element and thus from the bending die 3.

[0033] A simple solution, also well suited for retrofitting existing devices, for attaching the limiting element 12 or fixing element is very well suited in Fig. 3 , but also in the Fig. 5 and 6, to be recognized. In the area of the pivot point of the return element 5 on the bending cheek 3, at least one retaining clip 16 is inserted.

[0034] A first section of the retaining clip 16 has a receptacle for the limiting element 12 or the fixing element and preferably runs parallel to the support section 9 of the sliding element 6. In the die 1's home position, this first section of the retaining clip 16 preferably also lies parallel to the side surface of the die 1's base body 2 and does not project beyond the base body 2 at any point. A threaded opening is preferably provided as a receptacle into which a screw can be screwed as the limiting element 12. The lateral limit for the sliding element 6 can be adjusted by the depth to which the screw is screwed into the opening.

[0035] A second section of the retaining clip 16 has a connection structure with the bending jaw 3. Advantageously, the spring anchor 3a of the bending jaw 3 is suitable for this purpose, thus avoiding the need for additional components or a more complex shape of the bending jaw 3. Preferably, an opening with a width sufficient for the pin-shaped spring anchor 3a of the bending jaw 3 to pass through is provided in the second section of the retaining clip 16, allowing the retaining clip 16 to be slid onto the spring anchor 3a. The angle between the first and second sections of the retaining clip 16 is determined by the position of the spring anchor 3a. Typically, these sections run at an angle between 60° and 90°, preferably between 75° and 90°, resulting in a hook-shaped retaining clip 16 in longitudinal section.

[0036] To securely connect the retaining clip 16 to the bending jaw 3 without additional fasteners, the second section of the retaining clip 16 is positioned in its operating position between the bending jaw 3 and a transverse bore in the spring anchor 3a for the insertion of the return element 5. The thickness of the second section of the retaining clip 16 must be selected to allow this positioning. After the return element 5 is inserted into the transverse bore of the spring anchor 3a, the retaining clip 16 is secured against slipping off the spring anchor 3a and is securely connected to the bending jaw 3, yet can still be detached after the return element 5 is removed.

[0037] A bending or folding device according to the invention comprises, in addition to at least one die 1 in one of the embodiments described so far, at least one upper tool or at least one punch 17, which is movably arranged along the central plane M. By means of this punch 17, as shown in the snapshots of the Fig. 5 and the Fig. 6 As can be seen from the process sequence, a push-pull force is exerted on a workpiece W when it is lowered onto the die 1. The workpiece rests on the bending jaws 3 and the sliding elements 6. At the beginning of the bending or folding process, the sliding elements 6 are still parallel to each other and are in their position furthest outwards from the center line M. This is still the case even after the first, slight deformation of the workpiece W, and with only a slight rotation of the bending jaws 3 about the axes B.

[0038] As the punch 17 continues to descend, the bending jaws 3 are pivoted further and further, eventually forming a V-shaped die in the die 1. The workpiece W is pressed into this die by the punch 17 and bent or folded along a bending line lying in the central plane M. With the deformation of the workpiece W, i.e., with the increasing penetration depth of the punch 17, the sliding elements 6 are carried along by the friction between the workpiece W and the sliding elements 6, and slide on the bearing surfaces 4 of the bending jaws 3 in the direction of the central plane M. In contrast, there is no or only a slight relative movement between the workpiece W and the sliding elements 6. Consequently, the support sections 9 also move away from the underside of the widened section of the limiting element 12 and approach the side of the bending jaw 3 and the side of the base body 2 of the die 1.

[0039] Since no other elements of the arrangement act on the sliding element 6 and the support section 9, and in particular no forces parallel to the bearing surfaces 4 of the bending jaws 3 act on the support section 9, the sliding elements 6 can move in an optimal manner adapted to the deformation of the workpiece W. Disruptions to the movement sequence, blockage of the sliding elements 6 on the bending jaws 3 and the resulting damage to the workpiece W, as well as damage to the device from broken additional components, can thus be reliably avoided.

[0040] When the device is reset after completion of the machining process and the workpiece W is removed from the bending jaws 3 and the sliding elements 6, from which in Fig. 6 The position shown again represents the position of Fig. 4The bending jaws 3 are rotated back into their initial position by the action of the return elements 5. During the rotation, the support sections 9 of the sliding elements 6 come into contact with the bearing sections 7 on the base body 2. As the bending jaws 3 continue to rotate towards their initial position, the bearing section 7 fixes the sliding element 6 in such a way that the bending jaw 3 can continue to rotate under the fixed sliding element 6, and the two parallel sections of the sliding element 6 and the bending jaw 3 can slide past each other.

[0041] For workpieces W that are longer than a single die 1, several dies 1 can be arranged in a row, aligned in a longitudinal direction with a common central plane M. In this case, an advantageous embodiment provides a device in which at least one sliding element 6 is longer than a single die 1, preferably the same length as or longer than the workpiece W.

[0042] The scope of protection is defined by the claims. However, the description and drawings must be consulted for the interpretation of the claims. Individual features or combinations of features from the different embodiments shown and described can, in themselves, represent independent inventive solutions. The problem underlying these independent inventive solutions can be found in the description. Reference numeral list
