Abstract
Description
Technical area
[0001] The invention relates to a joint covering device according to the preamble of claim 1 and to a base part and a cover part for a joint covering device according to the independent claims. State of the art
[0002] When installing floor coverings, joints between individual covering components, such as parquet joints, are sometimes covered with so-called joint cover devices. Such joint cover devices typically comprise a base part that is attached (e.g., screwed) to a floor (e.g., screed), and a cover part that, once the floor covering is installed, is placed on the base part in such a way that a joint is covered at the location of the joint cover device. Such joint cover devices exist, for example, as end, transition, or leveling cover devices, whereby the respective cover parts are also referred to as end, transition, or leveling profiles.
[0003] Problems can arise during the installation of such joint cover devices if the two covering parts between which the joint is formed have different heights. In order for the cover part to fit flush with both covering parts, i.e., with both the higher and the lower covering part, the cover part must either be asymmetrically shaped, or it must be possible to tilt a symmetrically shaped cover part at least to a certain extent or to fix it at an angle in the base part.
[0004] EP1571274B1 discloses a joint covering device in which the cover part can be pivoted or tilted relative to the base part to a certain extent. This is achieved by a groove in the base part, into which the cover part itself or a connecting screw is inserted, having a convex shape on the inside, thus enabling tilting. However, this solution has the disadvantage that it is relatively complex to manufacture and that its assembly requires high precision.
[0005] DE202012005602U1 shows a device with the features of the preamble of claim 1. Object of the invention
[0006] The object of the invention is to eliminate or at least mitigate the disadvantages of the aforementioned prior art. In particular, the object of the invention is to find a simple way to tilt a cover part in a joint covering device. Solution to the task
[0007] The object is achieved according to the invention by a joint covering device according to claim 1. The inventors have surprisingly found that because the insertion groove is wider over its entire cross-section than the insertion tab, in most cases the cover part can be tilted sufficiently to compensate for different heights of adjacent covering parts. The reason for the possibility of tilting is the fact that the insertion tab can be tilted to a certain extent in the insertion groove, whereby the covering surface of the cover part, which covers the covering joint and parts of the adjacent covering parts, is also tilted and can thus be flush with both covering parts. Typically, the insertion groove has, at least in some regions, essentially straight inner surfaces which, in particular, are not convex or rounded in any other way.
[0008] In typical embodiments, the insertion groove comprises an insertion opening and a pivoting chamber. An insertion opening is defined as the upper portion of the insertion groove through which the insertion tab can be inserted into the insertion groove. A pivoting chamber is defined as the lower portion of the insertion groove, which provides sufficient space for pivoting the insertion tab.
[0009] In typical embodiments, the pivoting chamber has a substantially rectangular cross-section. "Substantially rectangular" is preferably understood to mean that one or more side walls of the pivoting chamber, for example, a base of the pivoting chamber, may have a slight curvature without this resulting in the cross-section no longer being substantially rectangular. A substantially rectangular cross-section of the pivoting chamber has the advantage, for example, that a base part with such a pivoting chamber is easy to manufacture, and that symmetry of the pivoting chamber can thus be easily achieved. In typical embodiments, the side walls of the pivoting chamber are straight.
[0010] In typical designs, the insertion tab tapers continuously from the cover surface to a lower end of the insertion tab. This has the advantage of achieving particularly good pivoting properties. In other words, the insertion tab typically becomes increasingly narrower with increasing distance from the cover surface.
[0011] In typical embodiments, the joint covering device comprises a screw, preferably a plurality of screws, for connecting the cover part to the base part, wherein the screw(s) is / are arranged at least partially within the pivot chamber when the cover part is inserted into the base part. This has the advantage of allowing a simple connection between the cover part and the base part.
[0012] In typical embodiments, the screw(s) are suitable for connecting the cover part and the base part to each other and to a screed and / or floor located beneath the base part, particularly when the cover part is inserted into the base part. This has the advantage of allowing a simple connection between the cover part, base part, and screed.
[0013] In typical embodiments, the insertion opening is wider than the insertion tab, wherein the insertion opening is preferably 10% to 140%, more preferably 50% to 130%, with particular advantage 114% to 118% wider than the insertion tab at an end facing the cover surface. The inventors have found that such dimensions are advantageous because, on the one hand, they enable the cover part to be tilted to a sufficient extent and, on the other hand, they prevent lateral play between the base part and the cover part from becoming excessive. In typical embodiments, the insertion tab tapers continuously from the end facing the cover surface to a lower end. Typically, the width of the insertion tab at its lower end is 50% to 80%, preferably 60% to 70%, advantageously approximately two-thirds of the width of the insertion tab at its end facing the cover surface.
[0014] In typical embodiments, the pivoting chamber is wider than the insertion opening, with the pivoting chamber preferably being 90% to 140%, more preferably 100% to 130%, and most advantageously 110% to 120% wider than the insertion opening. The inventors have found that such dimensions are advantageous because they provide sufficient space for pivoting a lower portion of the insertion tab while simultaneously preventing the insertion groove as a whole from becoming too wide.
[0015] In typical embodiments, the base part comprises a ground contact area, with two legs projecting from the ground contact area essentially at right angles in the same direction, the legs forming the insertion groove. This has the advantage that the insertion groove is formed in a simple manner.
[0016] In typical embodiments, the legs each have an L-shaped or J-like cross-section, so that each leg comprises a long section and a short section. The long sections of the two legs are of equal length, the short sections of the two legs are of equal length, and the two legs are arranged in a mirror-image manner such that the short sections point toward each other, thus forming the insertion opening. This has the advantage of forming the insertion opening and the slightly wider pivoting chamber in a simple manner.
[0017] In typical embodiments, a depth of the insertion tab is smaller than a depth of the insertion groove.
[0018] The object is further achieved according to the invention by a base part according to claim 8.
[0019] In typical embodiments of the base part, the pivoting chamber is 90% to 140%, preferably 100% to 130%, particularly preferably 110% to 120% wider than the insertion opening.
[0020] In typical embodiments of the base part, the base part comprises a ground contact area, wherein two legs protrude from the ground contact area essentially at right angles in the same direction, wherein the legs form the insertion groove, wherein the legs preferably each have an L-shaped or J-like cross-section, so that each of the legs comprises a long area and a short area, wherein the long areas of the two legs are preferably of equal length, wherein the short areas of the two legs are preferably of equal length, wherein the two legs are preferably arranged in a mirror-symmetrical manner such that the short areas point towards one another and thus form the insertion opening.
[0021] The object is further achieved according to the invention by a cover part according to claim 15.
[0022] The claims are hereby incorporated by reference into the specification. FIGURE DESCRIPTION
[0023] The invention is described in more detail below with the aid of drawings, in which: Figure 1: Schematic cross-section through a cover part of a joint covering device according to the invention, Figure 2: Schematic cross-section through a base part according to the invention (L-shaped legs), and Figure 3: Schematic cross-section through another base part according to the invention (J-like leg shape). Description of preferred embodiments
[0024] Figure 1 shows a schematic cross-section through a cover part A of a joint covering device according to the invention. The cover part A is strip-shaped with a constant profile, and this profile is shown in the cross-section of the cover part A in Figure 1shown. The cover part A can have a length of several centimeters to several meters. The length of the cover part A is measured perpendicular to the plane of the drawing and is therefore Figure 1 not representable.
[0025] The base part A comprises a cover surface 1 and an insertion tab 2. The cover surface 1 comprises a flat area 10 and two inclined cover areas 11.1, 11.2. The insertion tab 2 is arranged at right angles to the flat area 1. The two inclined cover areas 11.1, 11.2 extend in opposite directions away from the flat area 1 and the insertion tab 2, toward a respective attachment area 12.1, 12.2.
[0026] The insertion tab 2 is suitable for insertion into a corresponding insertion groove of a base part (only in Figure 2shown) and thus connect the cover part A to the base part. The cover sloped areas 11.1, 11.2 are each suitable for covering an edge area of one of two covering parts, whereby these two covering parts create the joint which is to be covered by the joint covering device. With the attachment area 12.1, the cover part A sits in an assembled state on a first of the two covering parts, with the attachment area 12.2, the cover part A sits in an assembled state on a second of the two covering parts. The insertion tab 2 has a depth T.1, which is measured perpendicularly from the flat area 10 to one end of the insertion tab 2, in particular to a lower end of the insertion tab 2. Also in Figure 1 The width b.1 of the insertion flap 2 is shown at the lower end of the insertion flap 2. This width b.1 is measured orthogonally to the depth T.1, in the plane of the drawing of Figure 1. It is clearly visible that the width b.1 denotes the narrowest point of the tuck-in flap 2. In other words, the tuck-in flap 2 tapers continuously from the cover surface 1 to the lower end of the tuck-in flap 2. The width b.4, measured at the upper end of the tuck-in flap 2, namely where the tuck-in flap 2 is connected to the cover surface 1, is therefore greater than the width b.1.
[0027] In addition, Figure 1 schematically (dashed) a screw 15 is shown, by means of which the cover part A is connected to the base part (see Figure 2 ) and a screed arranged under the base part. The screw 15 is not necessarily arranged in the plane of the drawing. Typically, several screws 15 are arranged at regular intervals over the entire length of the cover part A, although in Figure 1 only one of them is shown as an example.
[0028] Figure 2shows a schematic cross section through a base part B of a joint covering device according to the invention. The base part B is (like the cover part A in Figure 1 ) strip-shaped with a constant profile, and this profile is in the cross-section of the base part B in Figure 2 shown. The base part B comprises an insertion groove 3, which comprises an insertion opening 4 at an upper end. The insertion opening 4 has a width b.2, which is greater than the lower width b.1 and the upper width b.4 of the insertion tab 2 in Figure 1 is. In Figure 2 In the illustrated embodiment, the width b.2 of the insertion opening 4 is approximately 225% larger than the lower width b.1 of the insertion tab 2 and approximately 116% to 117% larger than the upper width b.4 of the insertion tab 2.
[0029] The insertion groove 3 further comprises a pivot chamber 5, which is arranged below the insertion opening 4. The pivot chamber 5 has a width b.3, which is greater than the width b.2 of the insertion opening 4. In Figure 2 In the illustrated embodiment, the width b.3 of the swivel chamber is approximately 115% larger than the width b.2 of the insertion opening 4. As can be seen in Figure 2 As can easily be seen, the cross-section of the pivoting chamber 5 is essentially rectangular, with the pivoting chamber 5 exhibiting a very slight downward curvature at its base, at least in some areas. Despite this very slight curvature, the pivoting chamber 5 thus has essentially straight inner surfaces and an essentially rectangular cross-section. In principle, the cross-section of the pivoting chamber could be described as rectangular, despite the very slight curvature at the base.
[0030] The base part B further comprises a ground contact area 6, by means of which the base part B can be placed on a (in Figure 2 Two L-shaped legs 7.1, 7.2 protrude vertically upwards from the floor contact area 6. Each of these two L-shaped legs 7.1, 7.2 comprises a long section 8 and a short section 9, which are shown in Figure 2 are provided with reference symbols only for the L-shaped leg 7.1. The short sections 9 protrude at right angles from the long sections 8. The two L-shaped legs 7.1, 7.2 are arranged in a mirror-inverted manner, so that the short sections 9 point toward each other and the insertion opening 4 is formed between them.
[0031] Furthermore, in Figure 2 a depth T.2 of the insertion groove 3 is drawn. The depth T.2 of the insertion groove 3 is greater than the depth T.1 of the insertion tab 2. In Figure 2In the embodiment shown, the depth T.2 of the insertion groove 3 is approximately 1% greater than the depth T.1 of the insertion tab 2.
[0032] Figure 3 shows a schematic cross section through another base part B according to the invention of a joint covering device according to the invention. The base part B in Figure 3 essentially corresponds to the basic part B in Figure 2 , especially as regards the dimensions of the different components of the base part B. However, the legs 7.3, 7.4 are shaped differently than the legs 7.1, 7.2 of the embodiment in Figure 2 . The legs 7.3, 7.4 of the embodiment in Figure 3 are J-like. In other words, they have a J-like shape. In particular, the short ranges 9 in Figure 3 shaped differently than the short ranges 9 in Figure 2 . In Figure 3Each short section 9 comprises an outer slanted section 13 and an inner round section 14. The inner round sections 14 have the advantage that, when the joint covering device is mounted, they facilitate pivoting of the cover part A relative to the base part B. In addition, the short sections 9 have Figure 3 a greater depth T.3 than the short ranges 9 in Figure 2 In particular, depth T.3 of the short ranges 9 in Figure 3 approximately 35% of the depth T.2 of the insertion groove 3. The corresponding depth of the short areas 9 in Figure 2 However, it only corresponds to approximately 14% of the depth T.2 of the insertion groove 3.
[0033] A typical mode of operation of the invention is as follows: In order to cover a joint formed between two floor covering parts, a base part B is first connected to a screed, e.g. screwed. The two covering parts are then arranged such that one of their edges rests on the outer side of one of the legs 7.1, 7.2 (for L-shaped legs) or 7.3, 7.4 (for J-like legs). This creates a joint which is filled by the insertion groove 3 of the base part B. To cover this joint, the cover part A is now inserted into the base part B. To do this, the insertion tab 2 is pushed from above into the insertion groove 3 until one of the attachment areas 12.1, 12.2 rests on one of the two covering parts.Should there be height differences between the two covering parts, the special geometric design of the insertion groove 3 allows the cover part A to be tilted to a certain extent relative to the base part B, so that both attachment areas 12.1, 12.2 sit neatly on the respective covering parts. In particular, the combination of the insertion opening 4 and the pivoting chamber 5 offers the possibility of pivoting the insertion tab 2 within the insertion groove 3, thereby enabling the cover surface 1 to be tilted on the covering parts.
