Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to wood cladding systems, where appropriate in kit form, and to methods of manufacturing them, to systems comprising a structure provided with a support surface and such a cladding system, and to methods of manufacturing and renovating them. TECHNOLOGICAL BACKGROUND

[0002] More specifically, the invention relates to wood cladding systems.

[0003] In the field of real estate construction, it is known to cover the surface of a building with a cladding structure. Such a cladding structure allows for the decoration and protection of the structure. Typically, a wooden cladding structure consists of several thin panels that can be arranged parallel to each other in front of the surface.

[0004] Various systems for fixing wooden panels to the structure can be considered. A typical example of a fixing system is gluing. However, gluing has the problem that, on the one hand, the adhesion characteristics are highly dependent on the nature of the underlying structure, and on the other hand, the glue is not very suitable for the fiber structure of the wood. Therefore, there is a risk of either a short lifespan of the fixing or of it being oversized. DE8905898 describes a device for fixing cladding elements.

[0005] The invention thus aims to propose a viable alternative to methods of fixing coating systems by direct wood / structure gluing. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0036] There figure 1 schematically represents a wooden panel 1 according to one embodiment of the invention. By “wood” is meant here any wood-based or deformable wood-derived material allowing penetration of the assembly portion, such as for example solid wood, laminated wood, chipboard, oriented particle board, glued laminated wood, laminated wood, “MDF” (acronym for the English expression “medium density fiberboard”), plywood, or melamine.

[0037] The invention will be described in an XYZ reference frame in which the Z direction corresponds to the vertical. The XY plane corresponds to a horizontal plane. Arbitrarily, the X direction is chosen as the longitudinal direction of the panel 1.

[0038] Panel 1 comprises a general rectangular parallelepiped shape. In the embodiment shown, panel 1 has a low thickness compared to the other two characteristic dimensions. The panel is shown oriented with a thickness measured along the Y direction. Panel 1 is profiled along the X direction. This means that panel 1 comprises an identical cross-section at all points along the X direction (except, where appropriate, some local specific shapes). For example, panel 1 is made by extrusion from a matrix comprising wood fibers. In this embodiment, panel 1 is longer, in the X direction, than wide, in the Z direction. Depending on the width, panel 1 may also be called a "blade".

[0039] The panel 1 comprises an outer face 2 and an opposite fixing face 3. These faces are the main faces of the wooden panel 1, i.e., the two largest faces of the panel. In the orientation shown, they extend in the parallel XZ planes. The outer face 2 has an appearance suitable for being viewed from the outside.

[0040] THE figures 2 And 4 are detailed views of the panel 1 allowing the cross-section thereof to be visualized. In particular, a groove 4 is provided in the fixing face 3. The groove 4 extends continuously in the X direction. The groove has a tapered section, i.e. not an undercut. It comprises, for example, a base 5 and two lateral edges 6 together forming a U-shaped section.

[0041] In the example shown on the figure 2 , the panel 1 comprises two parallel grooves 4 on the fixing face. However, the invention would be implementable with a single groove, or more than two grooves, as an alternative.

[0042] According to an alternative embodiment, as shown in the figure 3 , the groove 4 may have an undercut section at the level of the two lateral edges 5.

[0043] The panel 1 is intended to be fixed to a structure 7. The structure 7 has in particular a support surface 8. The support surface 8 is substantially planar. The support surface 8, in the example presented, is vertical. It extends opposite the fixing face 3 of the panel 1. The panel 1 is fixed to the structure 7 by means of an assembly system 9, which will be described in more detail below. The assembly system 9 is a removable assembly system, allowing removable fixing of the panel 1 to the structure 7. That is to say that the panel 1 can be easily disassembled from the structure 7 after fixing, although the panel 1 is permanently fixed to the structure in the absence of disassembly stresses.

[0044] There figure 5 schematically represents an assembly system 9. The assembly system 9 can be removably assembled to the panel 1, in a manner which will be described in more detail below. That is, the assembly system 9 can be easily assembled and disassembled from the panel 1, in a manner which will be described below.

[0045] The assembly system 9 comprises two assembly subsystems, namely a first assembly subsystem 10 and a second assembly subsystem 11. The first and second assembly subsystems 10 and 11 are assembled together in a detachable manner. That is, the first assembly subsystem 10 and the second assembly subsystem 11 can be easily disassembled from each other, in a manner that will be described below.

[0046] The first assembly subsystem 10 is provided on the panel 1 side. It is presented in more detail, according to one embodiment, in relation to the figure 6 . This is the part of the assembly system 9 which is removably assembled to the panel 1. The first assembly subsystem 10 comprises an assembly portion 12 for assembly to the panel 1. The first assembly subsystem 10 also comprises a portion 13 for cooperation with the second assembly subsystem 11. The assembly portion 12 and the portion 13 are linked together. The first assembly subsystem 10 is for example made in one piece, for example by plastic molding, or may comprise several removable parts, as will be seen later.

[0047] The assembly portion 12 is configured for anchoring in the groove 4 of the panel. First, the assembly portion is configured to be inserted into the groove 4 of the panel. According to the example, the assembly portion 12 comprises a hollow cylinder having a diameter less than or equal to the width of the groove 4, and with an axis orthogonal to the fixing face 3 of the panel 1, that is to say, in the present case, the Y axis. The diameter is for example equal to the dimension of the groove, to allow temporary retention of the assembly portion 12 by friction. This temporary retention alone is however insufficient to ensure the fixing of the panel on the structure. The assembly portion 12 also has a fixing portion 29 for direct or indirect fixing to the wooden panel 1.The fixing portion 29 is for example oblong relative to its axis, that is to say that the fixing portion 29 also has a diameter greater than the width of the groove 4. This configuration thus allows the fixing portion 29 to be inserted directly into the groove 4 in an orientation around the Y axis, but not in another orientation (in particular at 90° to the first orientation), for direct fixing. This oblong shape can in particular be obtained by means of fins 14 projecting radially outwards from the external peripheral face of the cylinder.

[0048] The fins 14 are furthermore made of thin thickness, and with a shape and in a material suitable for penetrating the wood of the panel 1, in particular in the lateral edges 6 of the groove 4, during a rotational movement around the Y axis. They can be made symmetrical to one another, so as to be able to each penetrate into a respective lateral edge of the groove 4. The fins 14 can have a sharp edge. A fin 14 comprises for example a corner forming an angle of between 80° and 100° between its two edges. One of the edges extends, in the inserted configuration, substantially parallel to the edge 6 of the groove, and the other edge substantially orthogonal to the groove. The two edges of the fin 14 extend substantially tangentially to the cylinder. Such a shape allows good anchoring in the groove 4, in particular that having the undercut section. The penetration of the fins 14 into the groove 4 makes it possible to anchor the first assembly subsystem 10 in the panel 1, and therefore the entire assembly system 9 when the second assembly subsystem 11 is assembled to the first assembly subsystem 10 to form the assembly system.

[0049] In the example presented, the first and second subsystems are removably assembled to each other by a self-gripping system, of the loop / hook type. This description does not go into the details of the production of the loop / hook system, given that there are different technologies that can be used. The portion 13 of the first assembly subsystem 10 dedicated to assembly to the second assembly subsystem 11 comprises a first part of the self-gripping system. For example, the first assembly subsystem 10 comprises a surface 15 orthogonal to the axis of the cylinder, and comprising the loops or the hooks.

[0050] In the example presented, the first assembly subsystem 10 comprises a plate 16 orthogonal to the axis of the cylinder, and of dimensions greater than the transverse dimensions of the cylinder. The plate 16 is substantially centered on the axis of the cylinder. In addition, reinforcing ribs 17 connect the cylinder to the plate 16. The plate 16 has for example a polygonal, square, or inscribed in a polygon / square shape. Each corner 28 of the plate is connected to the cylinder via a reinforcing rib 17.

[0051] The non-circular shape of the tray 16 makes it easier to grip by fingers to impart movement to the first subsystem 10 to move it between its insertion and fixing configurations. Two successive corners or projections 28, in the peripheral direction, of the tray form protrusions between which a finger can be placed to manipulate the tray. In the embodiment shown, the tray 16 has recesses 19 adapted to the shape of the fingers.

[0052] The first subsystem 10 comprises a spacer 30 arranged between the plate 16 and the assembly portion 12. The spacer 30 is wider than the groove 4, so that a lower face of the spacer 30 bears on the fixing face 3 of the panel 1, on either side of the groove 4, so as to correctly position the assembly portion 12 in the groove 4. The spacer 30 is narrower than the plate 16. The spacer 30 also raises the plate 16 relative to the panel 1, so as to facilitate handling.

[0053] As visible on the figure 7 , the plate 16 comprises, on its face 16a opposite the cylinder, a plurality of disjointed self-gripping portions 18. These portions can for example be made eccentric relative to the center of the plate 16. In the square embodiment, disjointed self-gripping portions 18 can be provided in each corner of the square. The production of several disjointed portions allows an efficient manufacturing process, while guaranteeing, with the eccentric position, good quality fixing.

[0054] The self-gripping portions 18 are, for example, made in one piece with the plate 16.

[0055] The second subsystem 11 is shown in sectional view on the figure 8 It can be made in the form of a laminate comprising three layers.

[0056] A layer 20 comprises an outer surface 20a having a self-gripping function complementary to the self-gripping portions 18. For example, if the self-gripping portions 18 are loops, the layer 20 comprises hooks, and vice versa. According to this exemplary embodiment, the entire outer surface 20a is made self-gripping.

[0057] An adhesive 21 is provided in the form of a layer of glue in contact with the layer 20 opposite the outer surface 20a.

[0058] A layer 22 is a peelable film joined to the glue layer, and comprising an opposite non-adherent outer surface 22b.

[0059] The shape of the second subsystem 11, transversely to the plane of the figure 8 , is similar to the shape of the tray 16. For example, the second subsystem 11 has substantially the same polygonal / square shape as the tray 16.

[0060] The second subsystem 11 may for example be obtained from a continuous strip 23 which is larger than the second subsystem in one (as shown) or two dimensions. The strip 23 may be cut (for example along the dotted lines shown on the figure 9 ) into one piece which then becomes the second assembly subsystem. Strip 23 has two (as shown in the figure 10 ) or more second subsystems 11. The shape of the cut-out piece corresponds approximately to the shape of the plate 16. It may in particular be of greater extent, to ensure a sufficient gripping surface with the first subsystem 10 without the need for precision assembly. The strip being flexible, if the extent of the cut-out piece is greater than that of the plate 16 (as is the case in particular on the figure 5 ), the gripping system remains accessible to the user by slightly deforming the portion of the piece that protrudes with his finger.

[0061] The assembly system 9 comprises the first assembly subsystem 10 and the second assembly subsystem 11 with the self-gripping portions 18 of the first assembly subsystem 10 facing and gripping the outer surface 20a of the second assembly subsystem.

[0062] The system just described can be used in the following way.

[0063] A structure 7, such as a building, is provided comprising a substantially planar support surface 8.

[0064] The cladding system is supplied as a kit, with 1 wooden panels on the one hand and 9 fixing systems on the other.

[0065] Panels 1 are provided as described above, intended to cover the support surface 8.

[0066] A plurality of first assembly subsystems 10 are provided.

[0067] A 23 band is provided.

[0068] The strip 23 and the first assembly subsystems 10 are for example supplied together in a common packaging defining an assembly kit.

[0069] A plurality of second assembly subsystems 11 are cut from the strip 23.

[0070] Alternatively, a strip 23 is not provided, but the provided kit directly comprises the first and second assembly subsystems not assembled to each other.

[0071] A first assembly subsystem 10 is removably assembled to a second assembly subsystem 11 by self-gripping the complementary self-gripping portions of the two subsystems.

[0072] This operation is repeated if necessary for several assembly systems.

[0073] Alternatively, the supplied kit includes already assembled assembly systems.

[0074] The assembly system 9 is removably assembled to the panel 1. To do this, the assembly system 9 is placed above the groove 4, at the location where the attachment is to be made. The assembly system 9 is oriented so that the longest dimension of the assembly portion 12 is aligned with the longitudinal axis of the groove 4, so that the cylinder is free to penetrate into the groove by insertion along an insertion axis transverse to the panel.

[0075] There is no need to slide the assembly system along the groove from the edge of the panel.

[0076] If necessary, the insertion occurs until the spacer 30 comes to bear on the fixing face 3 of the panel. This movement makes it possible to move the assembly system 9, and therefore in particular the assembly portion 12 thereof, from the insertion configuration to the inserted configuration.

[0077] In practice, the insertion is not necessarily purely a translational movement along the transverse axis, and we can also consider a lever effect around the X axis.

[0078] The assembly system 9 is held and rotated about the axis of the cylinder, at least one-eighth, or even a quarter of a turn, from the inserted configuration to the fixing configuration. During this movement, the fins 14 penetrate the wood of the panel (lateral edges 6 of the groove 4) to fix the fins 14 in the panel. The cam effect causes the material of the panel to be crushed, and allows the fins to penetrate.

[0079] These operations are repeated, if necessary, with other assembly systems 9 in different locations of the groove 4.

[0080] These operations are repeated, if necessary, for different grooves 4 of panel 1.

[0081] The peelable film(s) are removed (layer 22).

[0082] The assembly that has just been produced is applied to the support surface 8. The layers of glue of the assembly systems come into contact with the support surface 8. The panel 1 is applied long enough to bond the panel 1 to the support surface 8 via the first assembly subsystem. This avoids directly bonding the wood to a support surface.

[0083] The method just described allows the panel to be assembled "blindly" on the support surface 8. There is no need to aim to bring particular areas of the panel into contact with the support surface, which is hidden behind the panel during assembly. In any case, the panel 1 can be placed at the desired location, and a fixing is carried out if the support surface is sufficiently flat.

[0084] These operations are repeated, if necessary, for other panels 1. The panels 1 are juxtaposed vertically and laterally. If necessary, they can also be nested together, for example by cooperation of a tongue 24 of one edge of the panel with a groove 25 of a corresponding edge of the juxtaposed panel. This nesting system is presented here on the horizontal lateral edges of the panel. In addition, the panels 1 can be arranged in a staggered pattern, that is to say that at least two panels juxtaposed laterally are assembled to the same panel juxtaposed vertically.

[0085] The attachment of the panels 1 to the structure 7 is removable. The removability is provided by the hook-and-loop system.

[0086] At a certain point, it may be decided to remove the panels 1 from the structure 7. By exerting a mechanical force on the panel, the weakest connection in the system is separated, which, in this case, is the self-gripping connection.

[0087] We then arrive at a configuration where we have, on the one hand, a support surface 8 comprising the layer 20 glued by means of the adhesive 21 and, on the other hand, the panel 1 provided with the first assembly subsystem 10.

[0088] Another panel 1 can then be fixed to the support surface 8 as described above. If necessary, the assembly systems 9 are installed at other locations in the groove, to prevent them from sticking to the layer 20 remaining on the support surface. Or, the layer 20 is removed beforehand.

[0089] If necessary, the first assembly subsystem 10 can also be disassembled from the removed panel 1 for reuse or recycling. Disassembly can be accomplished by reverse rotation of the first assembly subsystem 10 from the attachment configuration to the inserted configuration, and the first assembly subsystem 10 can then be removed from the groove.

[0090] The assembly system can therefore be handled without any tools.

[0091] It will be noted that during the disassembly process, it may be that, for certain assembly systems 9, it is not necessarily the self-gripping connection that gives way. If this is the case, occasionally, it may be the adhesive bond that gives way, in which case it is then sufficient to remove from the panel the entire assembly system still assembled to the panel by moving the fixing configuration to the inserted configuration. Or it may be that it is the anchor that gives way, by tearing off material in the groove. In this case, it is then necessary to detach the assembly system from the support surface 8.

[0092] According to an alternative embodiment, the self-gripping parts 18 are not integrally formed in the first assembly subsystem 10. They can be produced by a separate component, which is permanently assembled to the assembly portion 12.

[0093] For example, an assembly by gluing or welding is provided. For example, a single extended patch carrying the self-gripping parts 18, and glued or welded to the plate 16, can be provided.

[0094] There figure 11 schematically represents a second embodiment of a first assembly subsystem. This incorporates certain features of the first embodiment, which will not be described in more detail. The features distinguishing this embodiment from the previous one are presented below. In this embodiment, the plate 16 has a transverse extent less than or equal to that of the assembly portion 12. In this embodiment, the first assembly subsystem 10 comprises a single self-gripping part 18. The shape of the second assembly subsystem can be adapted accordingly. In this embodiment, the gripping portion 26 is adapted for gripping by a tool. For example, a proprietary tool is used, or a consumer tool such as an Allen key of corresponding size. The gripping portion 26 comprises a zone for cooperation with the tool.In this example, a central bore 27 is provided comprising a polygonal edge adapted to cooperate with the tool to move the first assembly subsystem 10 between its inserted and fixed configurations.

[0095] In this embodiment, the fins 14 have a corner with an acute angle, typically between 10° and 45°, for penetration into the lateral edges 6 of the groove 4.

[0096] There figure 12 represents another embodiment, which is similar to the first embodiment, and additionally incorporates a gripping portion 26 per tool. This embodiment thus makes it possible to manipulate the first assembly subsystem 10 alternatively manually or with a tool.

[0097] There figure 13 represents another embodiment, which is similar to the second embodiment, but comprises a plate 16 of a transverse extent greater than that of the assembly portion 12. This embodiment is devoid of spacer 30.

[0098] There figure 14 represents another embodiment, which is similar to the first embodiment, but with the fins of the second embodiment.

[0099] The embodiment presented above described an assembly of the panels 1 to a structure comprising a vertical support surface. Alternatively, the systems could be implemented for another orientation of the structure, for example with a horizontal support surface facing upwards or downwards. The orientations used above to describe the system would then be adapted to this configuration.

[0100] According to another embodiment, the assembly portion 12 of the first subsystem 10 of the assembly system 9 may comprise a spacer 31 removable, allowing a space to be provided and adjusted between the panel 1 and the support surface 8, for example to pass cables through it. Thus, while in the embodiments presented above, the first subsystem 10 can be a single-piece unit, according to this other embodiment, it comprises at least two parts which are assembled in a removable manner.

[0101] The removable spacer 31 then appears as an additional part, mounted in interposition between the panel 1 and the fixing portion 29 of the first assembly subsystem 10 as described above, for indirect fixing of the fixing portion 29 on the panel 1. More precisely, the removable spacer 31 comprises a body 32 of generally cylindrical shape, with a first face 33end includes a part 34 so-called male assembly to assemble to panel 1, and the second face 35 end includes a part 36 so-called female assembly for assembling to the first subsystem 10. The distance between the first face 33 and the second end face 34 makes it possible to form the desired space between the panel 1 and the support surface 8.

[0102] The male part 34 has the characteristics described above for the fixing portion 29 of the first subsystem 10 to be able to anchor itself in the groove 4 of the panel 1. In particular, the male part 34 has an oblong shape, for example using fins 37 which project radially outward from the outer peripheral face of a cylinder 38,which extends the body 32 on the first end face 33. The diameter of the cylinder 38 is for example less than or equal to the width of the groove 4. The diameter of the cylinder 38 is for example equal to the dimension of the groove 4, to allow temporary retention of the removable spacer 31 by friction on the panel 1. The fins 37 of the removable spacer 31 take on the characteristics of the fins 14 described above, so as to be able to penetrate the wood of the panel 1, in particular in the lateral edges 6 of the groove 4, during a rotational movement of the removable spacer 31 relative to the panel 1 around the axis of the cylindrical body 32 of the removable spacer 31, and ensure a rigid fixing on the panel 1.

[0103] The female part 36 has a hollow 39 open U-shaped, formed by two edges 40substantially straight, parallel to each other and perpendicular to the axis of the cylindrical body 32. The two straight edges 40 extend from the outer surface of the cylindrical body 32, and are connected by a bottom 41 semi-circular, the diameter of which is less than or equal to the diameter of the cylinder of the assembly portion 12. A groove 42 extends over all of the edges 40, 41 of the hollow 39, following their shape so as to also form a U.

[0104] We will now describe the assembly between the removable spacer 31 and the fixing portion 29 of the assembly portion 12 of the first subsystem 10, using the figures 17a à 19b

[0105] In a first step ( figures 17a et 17b ), the first subsystem 10 is presented so that the fins 14 of the assembly portion 12 each have an edge substantially parallel to the straight edges 40 of the hollow 39 of the removable spacer 31.

[0106] In a second step ( figures 18a et 18b ), the cylinder of the assembly portion 12 is inserted into the U-shaped hollow, through an opening between the two straight edges 40 in a sliding movement, substantially perpendicular to the axis of the cylindrical body 32 of the removable spacer 31, until it comes into abutment with the bottom 41 of the hollow 39.

[0107] In a third step ( figures 19a et 19b ), a rotational movement of approximately 90° of the removable spacer 31 is carried out relative to the first subsystem 10 around the axis of the cylindrical body 32. The tip of the fins 14 of the assembly portion 12 of the first subsystem 10 then penetrates into the groove 42, preventing any movement along the axis of the cylindrical body 32.

[0108] The first subsystem 10 thus provided with the removable spacer 31 can then be implemented as described previously to ensure the assembly between the panel 1 and the support surface 8, in particular by implementing the male assembly part 34 of the removable spacer 31 with the groove 4 of the panel 1.

[0109] The spacer 31 can be supplied in the kit as an additional part to the rest of the assembly system 9, on request or as an optional part.
