Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a method for installing a water drain installation element with a water drain base body in a walkable floor, wherein the water drain base body has an inlet opening and a sealing flange running along a peripheral edge and projecting laterally, and wherein a sealing film projecting laterally beyond the sealing flange with a sealing film recess overlapping the inlet opening is fixed on the sealing flange, wherein in the method the water drain installation element is arranged on a substrate, embedded in a screed bed in an embedding step, and then in a sealing film fastening step the sealing film is fixed at least in sections in the circumferential direction around the inlet opening on a surface area adjacent to the water drain base body on an upper side of the screed bed.The invention also relates to a corresponding water drainage installation element for installation in a walkable floor with a water drainage base body which has an inlet opening and a sealing flange running along a peripheral edge and projecting laterally, wherein a sealing film projecting laterally beyond the sealing flange with a sealing film recess overlapping the inlet opening is fixed on the sealing flange.
[0002] Examples of the prior art are DE 26 12 684 A1 and DE 68 08 886 U, each of which shows a water drainage installation element with the features of the preamble of claim 1.
[0003] Such water drainage installation elements are used, for example, to install a water drain in a walkable floor in order to collect water accumulating on the floor and drain it away through the water drain. Such water drains are provided, for example, in rooms such as swimming pools, where water can reach the floor covering during normal use and must be drained away. Such water drains can also be provided in rooms where water can only reach the floor in exceptional circumstances and then needs to be drained away quickly, such as in basements, or where rapid and water-intensive cleaning is required and the cleaning water must then be drained away, such as in public sanitary facilities.A very common use for such a water drainage installation element is a shower channel, which is arranged in the floor covering of a sanitary room and is intended to collect and drain the shower water used during showering.
[0004] During the construction of the walkable floor and the necessary installation of the water drainage installation element, the water drainage base body with its inlet opening is usually first positioned on a subfloor in such a way that, after completion of the walkable floor, the inlet opening is flush with the floor surface or positioned slightly below the floor surface. The water drainage base body arranged on the subfloor is connected to a water-draining pipe system, which is covered by the floor covering of the walkable floor after completion. To create the floor covering arrangement, a screed bed is then usually laid on the subfloor or on a substructure erected on the subfloor, which, for example, has insulation panels for thermal and impact sound insulation.
[0005] To ensure that the water accumulating on the walkable floor can flow to the inlet of the water drain body, the walkable floor should have a gradient of typically 1 to 2 degrees relative to the inlet of the water drain body. The screed bed must therefore connect to the water drain body at a precisely specified height and have the desired gradient.
[0006] The screed bed is then often covered with a waterproof sealing layer, which is either laid and glued as a film on the screed bed, or spread as a flowable sealing compound on the surface of the screed material of the screed bed and then cures to form a waterproof sealing layer. Such a waterproof sealing layer also collects and drains away moisture that penetrates through the floor covering elements laid on the screed bed, such as tiles, and in particular through the joints between the tiles, toward the screed bed. It can then be drained away to the inlet opening below the floor covering elements on top of the waterproof sealing layer.
[0007] Cracks and gaps can occur between the water drain base body and the adjacent screed bed covered with the waterproof sealing layer, for example, during the curing of the screed material or due to thermally induced expansion and contraction processes. To prevent moisture from penetrating through such cracks and gaps between the water drain base body and the adjacent screed bed and accumulating below the water drain base body without being able to drain away, a waterproof sealing film is regularly attached to the water drain base body, extending outwards from the inlet opening, and sealed against the screed bed. This sealing film forms a waterproof bridge between the inlet opening of the water drain base body and the top of the screed bed, which is also waterproof and sealed.
[0008] During the construction of the walkable floor, embedding the water drainage base body, previously arranged on the subfloor, into the screed bed is often problematic and involves considerable labor. The still-flowing screed material must connect to the water drainage base body with the desired gradient and height. Typically, the screed bed is flush with the surface and aligned with the sealing flange of the water drainage base body. This allows the sealing film of the water drainage installation element, which is attached to the sealing flange, to be positioned and secured flush with the surface and without any steps or gradients that would impede water drainage from the adjacent screed bed to the inlet opening of the water drainage base body.
[0009] In many cases, it is intended and expedient to spread the still-flowing screed material over the substrate using a leveling gauge, thereby creating the screed material's surface as even as possible. The sealing foil usually completely covers the sealing flange protruding laterally from the water drain body. Therefore, the sealing flange cannot serve as a support or guide for a leveling gauge when applying the screed material to the substrate. While spreading and leveling the screed material, the leveling gauge must be held and guided freehand, which requires considerable experience and a considerable amount of time during the application of the screed material.During the application and removal of the screed material, the sealing film must also be kept away from the adjacent surface areas of the screed bed to prevent the sealing film from penetrating uncontrolled into the screed material before the screed material hardens, which would subsequently make it impossible to create a watertight seal between the screed bed and this sealing film. The manual effort required for this during the embedding of the water drain base body in the screed bed, and especially during the removal of the screed material with a freehand leveling gauge, is considerable.
[0010] Box-like covers for the water drain base body are known from practice. These can be placed over the inlet opening and the laterally protruding sealing flange of the water drain base body, and then surround and cover the previously folded sealing film with the adjacent sealing flange. These box-like covers, in turn, have a laterally protruding pull-off flange, which, once the cover has been correctly positioned on the water drain base body, determines the desired height of the screed bed and can be used to distribute the still-flowing screed material using a leveling gauge supported on the pull-off flange and guided over the pull-off flange. During the embedding step, the sealing film is protected by the surrounding cover and is kept away from the adjacent surface areas of the screed bed created in the embedding step.Once the screed material has hardened, the cover can be removed. Removing the cover creates a stepped recess between the sealing flange of the water drain base body and the adjacent surface area of the screed bed, in which the cover's pull-off flange was located. This recess can then be filled with a suitable mortar or screed material to create a seamless and flush connection between the screed bed and the sealing flange of the water drain base body. However, while sealing the surface of the screed material with a waterproof sealing layer, the sealing film of the water drain installation element must again be manually held away from the adjacent surface areas of the screed bed being treated.
[0011] It is therefore considered an object of the present invention to modify and improve a method for installing a water drainage installation element with the method steps mentioned at the outset in such a way that the effort for installing the water drainage installation element in a walkable floor is reduced and a reliable sealing of a flush adjacent screed bed is facilitated.
[0012] This object is achieved according to the invention in that, prior to the embedding step, a screed frame, which projects laterally beyond the sealing flange and is not formed integrally with the sealing flange, is fixed to the water drain base body at least in sections along the peripheral edge of the water drain base body, and in that, during the embedding step, a surface of the flowable screed material is formed flush with an upper side of the screed frame. The screed frame laterally adjacent to the sealing flange is not covered by the sealing film. During the embedding step, the screed frame can be used to distribute the soft-plastic screed mortar or the still-flowable screed material with the aid of a screed gauge and can support and guide a screed gauge placed on the screed frame and guided along the screed frame.Because the leveling frame is fixed to the water drain base body at the height intended for the adjacent surface areas of the screed bed, the leveling frame sets the desired height of the adjacent screed bed without requiring manual adjustment or special handling of the leveling gauge. The leveling frame can remain in the screed bed after the screed material has hardened and does not need to be subsequently removed, thus preventing a stepped depression in the hardened screed material that would then need to be refilled.
[0013] The removal frame can be detachably attached to the water drain base body. To facilitate distribution and preparatory work before installing the water drain installation element, the removal frame can be partially or fully pre-assembled and attached to the water drain base body, eliminating the need for additional assembly steps for positioning and securing the removal frame during installation of the water drain installation element.
[0014] According to one embodiment of the inventive concept, after the flowable screed material has cured, a surface of the screed material is covered with a waterproof sealing layer before the sealing film is fixed to a surface of the sealing layer in the sealing film attachment step. The sealing layer can be a waterproof film or a coated flow material. A film-like sealing layer can be bonded to the surface of the screed material with a suitable adhesive. It is also conceivable for the film-like sealing layer to be coated with an adhesive.
[0015] It is also conceivable, and advantageous for the simplest possible creation of the walkable floor, for the sealing layer to be created during or after the screed material has hardened by applying and spreading a flowable sealing compound on the surface of the screed material. The sealing compound can be relatively thin and poured onto the surface of the screed material to create the sealing layer. The sealing compound can also be relatively viscous and spread over the surface of the screed material using suitable tools such as brushes, rollers, or leveling gauges.
[0016] After covering the screed material with the waterproof sealing layer, the sealing film can be extended from the water drain base body to the adjacent surface areas of the previously sealed screed bed and secured to the sealed surface of the screed bed. The overlap area of the sealing film of the water drain installation element with the adjacent surface areas of the screed bed is preferably sufficiently large to prevent unwanted moisture penetration into a gap between the waterproof sealing layer of the screed bed, on the one hand, and the sealing film of the water drain installation element, which has been extended and secured on top of it, on the other. In practice, an overlap distance of 5 to 10 centimeters or more between the sealing flange on the one hand and an edge of the sealing film running on the top of the screed bed on the other hand is often appropriate.
[0017] According to one embodiment of the inventive concept, the sealing film is bonded to the top surface of the screed bed during the sealing film attachment step. Bonding can be carried out using a suitable adhesive material. It is also possible for the waterproof sealing layer covering the screed material to be made of a flowable and curing sealant, and for the sealing film to be laid out on top of the sealant after the sealant has been applied to the top surface of the screed material and before the sealant has completely cured, and to be pressed into the still-curing sealant, thereby forming a cohesive and adhesive bond with the sealant.
[0018] The invention also relates to a water drainage installation element for installation in a walkable floor, comprising a water drainage base body having an inlet opening and a sealing flange extending along a peripheral edge around the inlet opening and projecting laterally. A sealing foil projecting laterally beyond the sealing flange and having a sealing foil recess overlapping the inlet opening is secured to the sealing flange. Such water drainage installation elements are known in practice. The sealing foil projecting laterally beyond the sealing flange is intended to enable a watertight connection between the water drainage base body and the inlet opening formed therein, on the one hand, and the adjacent areas of a walkable floor, on the other. The sealing flange typically has a width of a few millimeters to one to two centimeters. The sealing film is bonded to the sealing flange along the peripheral edge of the inlet opening. To ensure reliable and watertight attachment of the sealing film to the sealing flange, the sealing film is often bonded to the sealing flange by a material bond or welded or glued over its entire surface. The sealing film is preferably joined using a suitable friction welding or ultrasonic welding process. For process-related reasons and to ensure the most reliable and watertight seal possible, the sealing film is usually bonded to the sealing flange over its entire surface.
[0019] According to the invention, the water drain installation element has, at least in sections along the peripheral edge, a screed frame with a flat upper surface that protrudes laterally beyond the sealing flange and is not formed integrally with the sealing flange. The screed frame forms an extension of the sealing flange that extends laterally beyond the sealing flange and can serve as a support surface for a screed gauge, with which an adjacent screed material can be screeded for the creation of the walkable floor and formed with a uniform surface with a suitable gradient toward the inlet opening of the water drain base body. While the sealing flange is usually completely covered by the sealing film and glued or bonded to it due to manufacturing reasons, the sealing film rests loosely on the removal frame and can be lifted when embedding the water drain base body in a screed bed and kept away from the current processing area of the adjacent screed bed. The removal frame is not formed integrally with the sealing flange and can be subsequently attached to the water drain base body, allowing the sealing film to be fully bonded to the sealing flange using conventional welding or bonding methods, thus simplifying and cost-effectively manufacturing the water drain element.Since the screed frame forms a support surface for a screed gauge along the peripheral edge of the water drain base body, a screed material surrounding the water drain base body can be quickly distributed using a screed gauge guided over the screed frame, and a flat surface of the screed material with the desired gradient towards the inlet opening can be created. In this context, a screed frame with a flat top surface is understood to include any design of the screed frame, as well as three-dimensionally structured top sides of the screed frame, which enable the top side of the screed frame to serve as a support and guide for commercially available screed gauges. For example, a displacement of the screed gauge guided over the top side is not hindered and does not lead to an uneven surface of the screed material created with the screed gauge. For example, pull-off frames made up of several sections with thin gaps between individual surface sections are considered to be suitable pull-off frames with a flat surface, as are pull-off frames with a rough or grooved or grid-shaped upper surface, as long as the support and guidance of a pull-off gauge over the correspondingly designed surface is not hindered.
[0020] Since the screed frame can remain in the screed bed and does not need to be subsequently removed from the screed bed along with a cover, which is common practice, there is no stepped recess around the sealing flange that would then need to be refilled. After embedding the water drainage installation element with the screed frame in the screed bed, the sealing film attached to the sealing flange can be extended laterally over the screed frame and over an adjacent surface area of the screed bed, where it can be secured to form a watertight seal.
[0021] It is optionally provided that the top side of the removal frame is aligned flush with the top side of the sealing flange. After embedding the water drain installation element in the screed bed, the sealing film attached to the top side of the sealing flange can then be extended laterally over the top side of the removal frame and over an adjacent surface area of the screed bed and sealed onto the screed bed without having to lay the sealing film over stepped recesses or protrusions. The extended sealing film, which is sealed to the screed bed, has a flat top side that runs from the outer edge above the screed bed to the inlet opening in the water drain base body.In this way, a reliable drainage of water or moisture can be ensured, which collects on the side next to the inlet opening on the watertight covered screed bed and can be drained away to the inlet opening via the sealing film.
[0022] According to an advantageous embodiment of the inventive concept, the removal frame is secured to the water drain body in a locking manner below the sealing flange. For this purpose, the removal frame can have suitable locking elements that can be brought into engagement with cooperating locking elements on an underside of the sealing flange or on a side wall section of the water drain body below the sealing flange.
[0023] The locking attachment of the removal frame can be designed to be either non-destructively removable or non-destructively removable from the water drain base body. In many cases, it is advantageous for the removal frame to be detachably attached to the water drain base body, for example, to enable space-saving storage and transport of the water drain installation element to its installation location when removed from the water drain base body.
[0024] It is also possible for the removal frame to be clamped to the water drain body using clamping elements. A positive-locking attachment of the removal frame, for example, using tongues that engage in appropriately adapted recesses, is also possible and advantageous for certain applications.
[0025] It can also be provided that the removal frame can be fixed at different distances relative to the sealing flange on the water drain base body. In this way, for example, a distance of a surface of the screed bed relative to an upper inlet opening edge can be specified to allow adaptation to different thicknesses of floor covering elements that are to be laid on the screed bed and subsequently have a flush connection to the inlet opening of the water drain base body.
[0026] According to an advantageous embodiment of the inventive concept, it is optionally provided that the removal frame has a first U-shaped removal frame element with two removal frame element legs arranged at a distance from one another, which surround the inlet opening on opposite sides. In practice, installation situations for the water drainage installation element are often also provided in which the inlet opening is to be arranged near an edge of the walkable floor and in particular immediately adjacent to a wall that laterally delimits the walkable floor. The first U-shaped removal frame element is expediently designed such that it surrounds the inlet opening on three sides and is not arranged on a fourth side of the inlet opening, or on the fourth side does not protrude laterally beyond a side edge of the sealing flange. The first U-shaped screed frame element then enables the water drain base body to be positioned on the subfloor with a side wall not surrounded by the first U-shaped screed frame element directly adjacent to an edge area of the walkable floor or to a wall. The first U-shaped screed frame element facilitates the distribution of the screed material in the areas around the water drain base body leading away from the wall or the edge, but does not prevent the water drain base body from approaching the wall or the edge of the walkable floor.
[0027] The screed frame can also optionally have a second strip-shaped screed frame element which, together with the first U-shaped screed frame element, completely surrounds the inlet opening. The second strip-shaped screed frame element can be releasably attached to the first U-shaped screed frame element. It is also conceivable and advantageous for independent use of the second strip-shaped screed frame element if the second strip-shaped screed frame element can be releasably attached to the water drain base body. Depending on the respective installation situation, it may be expedient for only the second strip-shaped screed frame element to be attached to the water drain base body and to be used for the rapid distribution and formation of a level surface of the screed bed.Such a design and use of the water drainage installation element can be particularly advantageous if the water drainage base body is arranged within the walkable floor in such a way that the water drainage base body is arranged on two or three sides close to or immediately adjacent to walls or edges of the walkable floor.
[0028] To ensure the easiest possible installation of the water drain installation element in the walkable floor, it can optionally be provided that the screed frame is pre-assembled to the water drain base body. The water drain installation element designed and pre-assembled in this way can then be placed on the subfloor and embedded in the screed bed without any further preparation or assembly steps. Depending on the specific installation situation, a first or second screed frame element, which is initially pre-assembled to the water drain base body, can be detached from the water drain base body and removed if necessary. Since in many applications the inlet opening of the water drain base body needs to be surrounded by the screed bed on all sides, the pre-assembled screed frame makes this application easier during the installation of the water drain installation element.
[0029] The following are examples of embodiments of the inventive concept, which are schematically illustrated in the drawing. It shows: Figure 1 an exemplary representation of a water drainage installation element which has a pull-off frame, Figure 2 a sectional view through the Figure 1 shown water drainage installation element along a line II-II in Figure 1 , Figure 3 a perspective view of the water drainage installation element with a two-part pull-off frame, whereby for the sake of clarity no sealing film is shown attached to it, Figure 4 a perspective view of the water drainage installation element with a one-piece pull-off frame, whereby for the sake of clarity no sealing film is shown attached to it, Figure 5 a sectional view through a portion of the water drainage element along a line VV in Figure 4 , Figure 6 a sectional view through the Figure 5shown section of the water drainage element along a line VI-VI in Figure 5 , Figure 7 a sectional view according to Figure 6 by a differently designed water drainage installation element, Figure 8 a schematic sectional view of a water drainage installation element arranged on a substrate, Figure 9 a schematic sectional view according to Figure 8 , whereby the water drainage installation element is embedded in a screed bed in one embedding step, Figure 10 a schematic sectional view according to Figure 8 and Figure 9 , whereby a sealing layer is applied to the top of the screed bed, and Figure 11 a schematic sectional view according to the Figures 8 to 10 , whereby the sealing film of the water drainage installation element was spread out on the sealing layer and sealed, and then floor covering elements were laid on the screed bed.
[0030] In the Figures 1 and 2An exemplary embodiment of a water drain installation element 1 according to the invention is shown schematically. The water drain installation element 1 has a water drain base body 2 with an inlet opening 3. Along a peripheral edge of the inlet opening 3, which is rectangular in this embodiment, the water drain base body 2 has a laterally projecting sealing flange 4, which is usually formed integrally with the water drain base body 2. A sealing film 6 is fixed in a watertight manner, for example, welded, over the entire surface of an upper side 5 of the sealing flange 4 directed away from the water drain base body 2.The sealing film 6 has a sealing film recess 7 that overlaps congruently with the inlet opening 3, which exposes the inlet opening 3 and allows water accumulating above the sealing film 6 to flow through the recess 7 and the inlet opening 3 into an interior space 8 of the water drain base body 2 and from there be drained away via a water drainage pipe system. The water drain installation element 1 typically has only one connection piece 9 for connecting the water drain base body 2 to the water drainage pipe system.
[0031] Laterally adjacent to the sealing flange 4, the water drain installation element 1 has a removal frame 10 that projects laterally beyond the sealing flange 4 and is not formed integrally with the sealing flange 4. The removal frame 10 is manufactured separately and subsequently fixed to the water drain base body 2. The removal frame 10 can be made of the same material, usually a plastic material, as the water drain base body 2. The removal frame 10 can also be made of a different material. The removal frame 10 can be formed integrally and completely surround the inlet opening 3 and the sealing flange 4 in the circumferential direction. In the Figures 1 and 2In the illustrated embodiment, the removal frame 10 is composed of a first U-shaped removal frame element 11 and a second strip-shaped removal frame element 12. A flat upper side 13 of the removal frame 10 serves as a support surface and guide for a removal gauge when embedding the water drainage installation element 1 in a screed bed, as will be explained in more detail below.
[0032] In Figure 3 is that in the Figures 1 and 2The water drainage installation element 1 shown is shown schematically and for clarity without the sealing film 6. The pull-off frame 10 is composed of the first U-shaped pull-off frame element 11 and the second strip-shaped pull-off frame element 12. The first U-shaped pull-off frame element 11 has two pull-off frame element legs, each of which extends along an associated end face of the inlet opening 3 and surrounds the inlet opening 3 on opposite end faces. Figure 4 a differently designed water drainage installation element 1 with a one-piece removal frame 10 is shown, but also without the sealing film 6.
[0033] In the Figures 5 to 7Various examples for a subsequent fixing of the removal frame 10 to the water drainage base body 2 are shown by way of example. Laterally projecting fastening tongues 14 are formed on the removal frame 10, spaced apart from one another in the circumferential direction. Corresponding fastening elements 16 are formed or subsequently attached to an underside 15 of the sealing flange 4. Figure 6 In the embodiment shown, the fastening tongues 14 are pin-shaped with a square cross-sectional area and can each be inserted into a sleeve-shaped fastening element 16 until the pull-off frame 10 with its flat upper side 13 connects almost gap-free and flush with the upper side 5 of the sealing flange 4. In the Figure 7In the embodiment shown, the fastening element 16 has two locking tongues 17 on the underside 15 of the sealing flange 4, so that the fastening tongues 14 of the pull-off frame 10, which are also pin-shaped, are clipped into the fastening element 16 from below and fixed to the sealing flange 4 in a form-fitting manner, surrounded by the locking tongues 17.
[0034] In the Figures 8 to 11 The method according to the invention for installing the water drainage installation element 1 in a walkable floor is illustrated. First, the water drainage installation element 1 is arranged on a substrate 18, as shown in Figure 8is shown. With height adjustment elements 10, which are only schematically indicated, the height of the upper side 5 of the sealing flange 4 and the height of the flush-mounted upper side 13 of the removal frame 10 above the substrate 18 can be adjusted and specified. The connecting piece 9 of the water drain installation element 1 can then be connected to a water drainage pipe system arranged on the substrate 18, so that water flowing through the inlet opening 3 into the interior 8 of the water drain base body 2 can be drained through the connecting piece 9 and the water drainage pipe system.
[0035] Subsequently, the water drainage installation element 1 is embedded in a screed bed 20 in an embedding step, as shown in Figure 9is shown. For this purpose, the screed material 21 is distributed over the substrate and an upper side 22 of the screed material 21 is formed to be flat with the aid of a screed gauge 23. The screed gauge 23 can be supported on the flat upper side 13 of the screed frame 10 and guided along it. The upper side 13 of the screed frame 10 thus simultaneously also specifies the desired level of the upper side 22 of the screed material 21 relative to the water drain base body 2 and the inlet opening 3. This considerably simplifies the production of a flat screed bed 20 with a flat upper side 22, whereby production time and costs can be saved. During the distribution and screeding of the screed material 21, the sealing film 6 is expediently kept away from the upper side 22 of the screed material 21.
[0036] After the screed material 21 has been distributed, leveled, and cured to a flat upper surface 22, a waterproof sealing layer 24 is applied to the upper surface 22 of the screed material 21. The sealing layer 24 can, for example, be a laid or glued foil-like sealing layer 24, or can be produced by pouring and spreading a flowable sealing compound, which then cures and forms the waterproof sealing layer 24, as shown in Figure 10 is shown.
[0037] Subsequently, in a sealing film fastening step, the sealing film 6 is spread outward on all sides from the inlet opening 3 onto the upper side 13 of the screed frame 10 and onto the adjacent surface areas of the upper side 22 of the screed bed 20 covered with the sealing layer 24, and is also fixed thereon in a watertight seal. Finally, the screed bed 20 can be covered with floor covering elements 25. The floor covering elements 25 can, for example, be ceramic tiles embedded in an adhesive mortar bed 26 applied to the screed bed 20, as shown in Figure 11 is shown.
[0038] If, for example, moisture penetrates through joints between individual floor covering elements 25 or through the floor covering elements 25 themselves towards the screed bed 20, the moisture is retained by the sealing layer 24 and can flow via the sealing film 6 and the inlet opening 3 into the interior 8 of the water drain base body 2 to be drained away from there.
