Abstract
Description
[0001] AN AIR PURIFIER COMPRISING A MEMBRANE
[0002] The present invention relates to an air purifier comprising a membrane in the receptacle where the air purification is realized.
[0003] Today, the need for ventilation and the need for fresh air becomes more important in environments such as homes and offices especially in high-rise buildings. Plants can be a temporary solution for daytime but when the sunlight disappears, plants also start to produce carbon dioxide like human beings and the air quality of the environment decreases. Especially in high-rise buildings, it is not always possible to continuously keep the windows open and ventilate the environment. The continuously rising carbon dioxide amount in the air adversely affects human health. The amount of oxygen in a closed environment directly affects the metabolic rate of people and the lack thereof creates weakness and fatigue in humans. Ensuring that the amount of oxygen in the closed environment does not fall below a certain level while reducing the amount of carbon dioxide generated in the environment makes the human metabolism much more vivid and vigorous.
[0004] In most of the state of the art air purifiers, dust and bad odors in the air are trapped by HEPA, UV and other filters such that the cleaned air is released back into the room.
[0005] In air purifiers wherein the air in the environment is cleaned by adsorbing the carbon dioxide, it is important to adsorb the carbon dioxide at maximum efficiency. In air purifiers that perform chemical air cleaning, the mixing of the air with the chemical (basic liquid solution) at the maximum level increases the reaction efficiency and ensures that carbon dioxide is adsorbed at the maximum level.
[0006] The aim of the present invention is the realization of an air purifier wherein the air in the environment is cleaned by adsorbing the maximum amount of carbon dioxide from the air in the environment.
[0007] The air purifier of the present invention comprises a body; an air inlet which is provided on the body and which is used for sucking the air in the environment; a CO2 adsorption unit into which the air sucked into the body is taken by means of an air duct and a pump and which is suitable for being supplied or filled with basic liquid solution; and a clean air outlet through which the clean air is released after the carbon dioxide in the air reacts with the basic liquid solution in the CO2 adsorption unit so as to adsorb the carbon dioxide and convert the same to carbonate.
[0008] In the air purifier of the present invention, before pumping the air in the environment, the basic liquid solution may be filled into the CO2 adsorption unit by the manufacturer beforehand or may be pumped from a basic solution tank by means of a supply line when the device is activated.
[0009] The air purifier of the present invention further comprises an acid tank. The carbonated solution formed in the CO2 adsorption unit after the adsorption of carbon dioxide is neutralized in said acid supply unit or also in another receptacle.
[0010] The air purifier of the present invention comprises at least one membrane with micro holes which is disposed in the CO2 adsorption unit where the carbon dioxide and the basic solution are mixed.
[0011] In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the membrane is coated over the base of the CO2 adsorption unit. The air supplied into the unit from the air inlet tube passes through the holes in the membrane and mixes with the basic solution so as to form bubbles. In an embodiment of the present invention, the membrane can be coated on both the base and the walls of the CO2 adsorption unit.
[0012] In an embodiment of the present invention, the membrane on the base and / or the wall is coated on the base in a wavy, S form so as to increase the contact surface with the air.
[0013] In another embodiment of the present invention, the wavy, S-form membrane can be coated only on the base, or only on the walls or both on the walls and the base.
[0014] In an embodiment of the present invention, the membrane may have a mixed structure with a section in S-form and the other section flat.
[0015] In another embodiment of the present invention, the membrane can be coated not exactly on the wall or the base, but in the inner volume of the CO2 adsorption unit, at a central region of the unit. In an embodiment of the present invention, the wall and / or the base comprise(s) semicircular ribs. Said ribs are arranged successively as rows and columns. Thus, the membrane takes a wavy form.
[0016] In an embodiment of the present invention, both the walls and the base can be coated with a flat membrane.
[0017] In an embodiment of the present invention, the membrane is fixed to the wall and / or the base by means of a connection plate. Thus, the membrane is prevented from being dislodged due to air pressure and the air is prevented from mixing with the basic solution so as to form less bubbles.
[0018] By means of the present invention, an air purifier is realized, wherein carbon dioxide is adsorbed at the maximum level from ambient air efficiently mixed with the basic solution.
[0019] The model embodiments that relate to the air purifier realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention are illustrated in the attached figures, where:

[0039] The air purifier (1) comprises a body (2) having an air inlet (I) through which the air in the environment is sucked and a clean air outlet (O) through which the cleaned air is released to the environment; a CO2 adsorption unit (3) which is provided on the body (2), which can be filled with basic liquid solution, which provides the adsorption of the carbon dioxide in the air and which has a base (5) and walls (6) surrounding the base (5); and an air duct (11) which provides the delivery of the air taken from the body (2) to the CO2 adsorption unit (3).
[0040] The air purifier (1) of the present invention a membrane (4) which has micro holes, which is fixed to the base (5) or at least one wall (6) so as to at least partially cover the base (5) or the wall (6) such that the air supplied through the tube (11) is mixed with the basic liquid solution in the CO2 adsorption unit (3) so as to form bubbles.
[0041] In the air purifier (1) of the present invention, the ambient air is supplied through a section of the CO2 adsorption unit (3) by means of the tube (11). The air and the basic solution received into the unit (3) pass through the membrane (4) having micro holes (not shown in the figures) thereon in order to be mixed so as to form bubbles. The membrane (4) is placed so as to at least partially cover the base (5) and / or at least one wall (6). The CO2 adsorption unit (3) is a closed receptacle and the upper lid which is parallel to the base (5) and which covers the unit (3) is also considered a wall (6).
