AI Technical Summary
Existing distributor mast arms in mobile concrete pumps face issues with high local stresses in corners due to torsional loads, leading to reduced load-bearing capacity and increased mass, while current solutions either increase material thickness uniformly or result in inefficient material utilization.
The distributor mast arm incorporates support profiles with varying wall thickness and/or diameter, featuring tubes or solid profiles at corners, connected to side plates in a bonded and force-transmitting manner, reducing stress concentrations and allowing for optimized material distribution.
This design enhances the load-bearing capacity and reduces the overall mass of the mast arm by distributing stress more efficiently, while maintaining structural integrity and reducing material waste.

Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a distributor mast arm for a concrete pump, in particular a mobile concrete pump, wherein the distributor mast arm comprises a support structure with at least two side walls.
[0002] Mobile concrete pumps, such as truck-mounted concrete pumps, are wheeled concrete pumps that can deliver concrete via a placing boom and attached delivery line, typically within a radius of 20 to 50 meters or even more around the pump. Mobile concrete pumps are generally used in building construction to transport the delivered concrete directly to its final point of use. The placing boom allows the concrete to be delivered not only at ground level, but also above or below it.
[0003] The distributor mast has several articulated arms connected to each other. This allows the distributor mast to be folded for transport and unfolded for operation. The distributor arms are typically folded and unfolded hydraulically, with corresponding connection points for hydraulic cylinders provided on the arms.
[0004] According to the state of the art, the distributor mast arms are manufactured, for example, in welded sheet steel box construction with two flange plates and two web plates, less frequently also from U-profiles welded to form a box.
[0005] In steel box-type distribution mast arms, high local stresses occur in the corners due to additional torsional loads, for example from arm bends or the off-center mounting of the conveying line. In welded sheet steel boxes, weld seams are located in the more highly stressed corners, resulting in a reduced load-bearing capacity of the sheet steel box.
[0006] The high stresses in the corners of a steel box section can be counteracted, for example, by using thicker side plates. This disproportionately increases the mass of the distributor mast arm. Likewise, the material outside the corners is only minimally utilized and therefore partially superfluous. Furthermore, the corner can be formed as a single piece with the side plate and be rounded, so that the weld seam shifts towards less stressed distributor mast arm areas, e.g., towards the neutral axis. However, for economic reasons, such a corner cannot differ in wall thickness from the side plate, which also results in low stiffness. Distributor mast arms with side walls and support profiles arranged at the corners of the supporting structure are known, for example, from DE 23 17 595 A1, JP 2004 124357 A, WO 2015 / 032049 A1, WO 2021 / 179546 A1, or DE 202 18 877 U1.
[0007] Against this background, the present invention aims to provide a distribution mast arm that is improved compared to the aforementioned distribution mast arm, particularly with regard to cost-effectiveness and lightweight construction. This objective is achieved by the subject matter with the features of independent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
[0008] According to the invention, the supporting structure further comprises at least one support profile, wherein at least two side walls are arranged on the support profile, and wherein the support profile is arranged in at least one corner of the supporting structure.
[0009] The side walls can be side panels or have or consist of additional support profiles.
[0010] The supporting structure can include a box profile.
[0011] Preferably, the support profile comprises one or more tubes or consists of one or more tubes.
[0012] According to the invention, the support profile is provided to have a different wall thickness and / or a different diameter in sections along its length.
[0013] Preferably, the side plates are connected to each other and / or to the support profile in a material-bonded and / or force-transmitting manner.
[0014] Preferably, the support profile comprises or is a tube segment, a rod and / or a solid profile.
[0015] Preferably, the support profile has an elongated shape, extending over more than half or more than three-quarters of the total length or over the total length of the distributor mast arm.
[0016] Preferably, the supporting structure comprises four side walls, wherein the side walls are arranged in the form of a hollow box, with a support profile arranged in each or at least one corner of the hollow box.
[0017] Preferably, the supporting structure, the side walls and / or the support profile has at least one bend or kink.
[0018] Preferably, a side wall is arranged no further into the interior of the supporting structure with respect to the support profile than to an arrangement in which, viewed in cross-section, an imaginary center line between an outer and inner wall of the side wall passes through the center of the support profile.
[0019] However, the invention also includes an arrangement in which at least one side wall is arranged further inwards with respect to the support profile.
[0020] The invention also relates to a concrete pump, in particular a mobile concrete pump, with a distributor mast arm according to the invention.
[0021] In other words, the box-type distribution mast arm can comprise laterally arranged plates and tubes located at one or more corners of a box section. The tubes can be single pieces or assembled into a single tube, and the side plates are preferably bonded to each other and / or to the tubes in a force-transmitting manner. The side plates are preferably bonded to each other and / or to the tubes in a force-transmitting manner. The tubes can have varying wall thicknesses and / or diameters along their length. Alternatively, solid profiles can be used instead of tubes. The side plates can also be replaced by additional tubes or support profiles.
[0022] The distributor mast arm can also be a box-type structure serving as a bending beam, without and especially with bending and subordinate torsional stress.
[0023] The tubes at each corner of two side plates of the box section can preferably significantly reduce stresses at the required location due to their shape and variable material thickness. This also allows for a reduction in the material thickness of the side plates of the box section, thus preferably increasing the material utilization of the entire distributor mast arm and reducing its mass. The welds are preferably located in less stressed areas away from the corners. Closed tubes preferably exhibit higher torsional resistance compared to slotted or open tube profiles. Furthermore, closed tubes preferably offer greater resistance to flexural-torsional buckling and torsion.
[0024] According to the current state of the art, pipes are available in a wide variety of material qualities and can be economically manufactured in bent designs, so that cranked distributor mast arms can also be produced.
[0025] Preferably, a pipe segment inserted for the purpose of targeted material use can be placed in the corner, whereby the box profile should preferably not have any significant curvature for economic reasons.
[0026] It should be noted here that the terms "a" and "an" do not necessarily refer to exactly one of the elements, although this is a possible interpretation, but can also denote a plurality of elements. Likewise, the use of the plural also includes the presence of the element in question in the singular, and conversely, the singular also includes several of the elements in question. Furthermore, all features of the invention described herein can be combined with one another or claimed separately from one another as desired.
[0027] Further advantages, features, and effects of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of preferred embodiments with reference to the figures, in which identical or similar components are designated by the same reference numerals. These figures show: Fig. 1: A perspective view of an embodiment of a distribution mast arm. Fig. 2: A cross-section of an embodiment of a distribution mast arm. Fig. 3: A cross-section of a corner of an embodiment of a distribution mast arm. Fig. 4: Two cross-sections, each of a corner, of an embodiment of a distribution mast arm.
[0028] In Fig. 1 A distribution mast arm 1 is shown with pipes 3 as support profiles and side plates 4 as side walls. The distribution mast arm 1 has a slightly curved shape. The distribution mast arm 1 has a box profile as its supporting structure.
[0029] Fig. 2 Figure 2 shows the structure of a box profile 2 as a supporting structure. A tube 3 is arranged in each corner 4 of the box profile 2. A side plate 4 is arranged between two tubes 3.
[0030] In one or all corners 5 of a box profile 2 or a supporting structure, a pipe segment 6 can also be arranged instead of a pipe 3, as shown from Fig. 3 emerges.
[0031] Fig. 4 Figure 1 shows two possible extreme cases of the arrangement of a side wall in the form of a side plate 4 in relation to the support profile in the form of a tube 3 at a corner 5 of the supporting structure.
