Description

[0001] Modular metal table frame

[0002] The invention relates to a modular table frame made of metal, which forms a support device that can be set up on a surface for a table top that can be placed on the table frame, wherein the table frame has four table legs, wherein two table legs are each connected to one another by two cross braces each and form a support frame element, wherein the two support frame elements are connected to one another by two longitudinal braces and each longitudinal brace is aligned perpendicular to the cross braces and runs diagonally at an acute angle to the surface, so that each longitudinal brace is connected at opposite ends to one cross brace in the two support frame elements and the two cross braces that are connected to a longitudinal brace have a different distance from the surface, and wherein the table frame can be disassembled into several table frame modules and assembled from these table frame modules.

[0003] Table frames which form a table together with a table top resting on top of it or connected to the table frame are known in practice in numerous different designs. Some table frames have a support device without individual table legs and are formed, for example, by barrel-shaped, cube-shaped or cuboid-shaped structures which either have a flat surface as a table top or onto which a table top is placed. In particular in the case of table tops with a small diameter, the support device can have a single and usually centrally arranged table leg which is connected at a lower end to a radially projecting base and at an upper end to the table top or, in the case of a modular design of the table, can be detachably connected to the table top.In the case of large table tops, table frames often have three or four table legs, which are arranged at a distance from one another and connected to one another in order to form a support device for a table top resting on the table legs.

[0004] Many tables which have a rectangular table top which is to be supported as stably and tip-proof as possible by means of a support device against a surface have a table frame with four table legs which are arranged in the four corners of a square or rectangular base. The individual table legs can be connected to one another via a circumferential support frame. Such a support frame is usually connected to the individual table legs at an upper end of the table legs which is facing away from the surface and forms a support surface for the table top. The table top can be permanently or detachably connected to the support frame or to individual table legs.

[0005] Table frames with four table legs, each arranged in the corners of a cuboid or rectangular base and connected to one another by means of a plurality of struts, are also known. Depending on the arrangement of the individual table legs in relation to one another, the struts can have different lengths. Such a table frame can have two support frame elements, each support frame element containing two table legs that are connected to one another by two or more cross struts. The two support frame elements can be connected to one another by two or more longitudinal struts in order to form a rigid support device for a table top arranged on the support device. The table top can be permanently or detachably connected to the support device. It is also possible for the table top to merely rest on the support device without being fastened to or on the support device by means of separate fastening elements.

[0006] Either for aesthetic reasons or with a view to achieving the lowest possible weight and minimum material requirements, it can be advantageous for a table frame to have, in addition to the four table legs, as few cross braces and longitudinal braces as possible, which connect the four table legs to one another. It has been shown that two table legs, each connected by two cross braces, form a mechanically stable and resilient support frame element. Two support frame elements arranged at a distance from one another can be connected to one another by two longitudinal braces in order to form a stable and resilient support device for a table top, which can be placed on the four table legs or attached to them in a way that prevents it from tipping over. However, for a mechanically stable design of the support device, it is necessary that the cross braces and the longitudinal braces are reliably connected to the table legs and that the individual connections are designed to be as torsionally rigid as possible.

[0007] From practice, for example, a table frame made of metal is known which has two frame-shaped support frame elements, each made from two table legs and two cross braces, which are connected to one another by two diagonally running longitudinal braces. The table legs, the cross braces and the longitudinal braces each consist of metal tubes or metal rods that are welded to one another. The frame-shaped arrangement of the two table legs and the cross braces connecting the two table legs each form mechanically stable support frame elements onto which a table top can be placed or with which the table top can be connected. The diagonal arrangement of the two longitudinal braces ensures a mechanically resilient and tilt-proof connection between the two support frame elements. The individual welded joints are particularly durable and can withstand high mechanical stresses.

[0008] However, it is considered disadvantageous that such table frames require a lot of space during transport and storage. It is therefore known from practice that such table frames can be composed of several table frame modules which can be detached from one another and folded together to save space, for example during transport or for storage. For use as a support device, the individual table frame modules can be put together and connected to one another. It is known from practice that the support frame elements are manufactured in one piece and the two longitudinal struts can be detachably connected to the support frame elements at opposite ends. The detachable connection of the longitudinal struts to the support frame elements arranged transversely to them should be as torsionally rigid as possible in order to reliably fix the two support frame elements arranged at a distance from one another, thus forming a mechanically resilient table frame. The connection of the longitudinal struts to the support frame elements, which usually represents a connection of the longitudinal struts to the transverse struts, usually requires a complex construction for a detachable but rigid attachment of the longitudinal strut to the cross struts. The manufacturing effort for such a connection is high, as is the effort for assembling the table frame on site, which is initially disassembled into several table frame modules.

[0009] The connections between several table frame modules known from practice and in particular the structurally complex connections of longitudinal struts with cross struts of the support frame elements often cannot be visually concealed and lead to an aesthetically unappealing design of the modular table frame in the connection areas of the individual table frame modules and in particular the longitudinal struts with the cross struts.

[0010] It is therefore considered to be an object of the present invention to design a modular table frame made of metal with the construction of support frame elements set out at the outset and the longitudinal struts connecting the support frame elements in such a way that the modular table frame can be disassembled into individual table frame modules in the most space-saving way possible, and that the individual table frame modules can be assembled with the least possible effort to form a visually appealing and mechanically resilient table frame.

[0011] This object is achieved according to the invention in that one of the several table frame modules is designed as a T-connection module, wherein the T-connection module has a partial section of a longitudinal strut and a partial section of a cross strut running perpendicular to it and non-detachably connected to an end section of the partial section of the longitudinal strut. By designing the connection of a longitudinal strut with a cross strut running transversely to it as a non-detachable connection, the design effort and assembly effort for a detachable connection of a longitudinal strut with a cross strut running transversely to it is significantly reduced. The non-detachable connection can be produced with little manufacturing effort during manufacture of the T-connection module and yet can be designed in such a way that this non-detachable connection is mechanically resilient and at the same time is visually appealing or inconspicuous or barely noticeable.

[0012] The use of a T-connection module requires disassembling a support frame element into several table frame modules. However, the joints between the individual table frame modules that form a support frame element can each be arranged along the straight cross braces. Connecting two sections along a straight cross brace is structurally much simpler and also easier to install than connecting a section of a longitudinal brace with a section of a cross brace running perpendicular to it.

[0013] Numerous connecting elements are known in practice, with the aid of which, for example, two similarly aligned hollow profiles, which may form, for example, a transverse strut or a longitudinal strut, can be connected to one another. It is also known that such connecting elements are designed as clamping body elements, which are arranged in an interior space surrounded by the hollow profiles and can connect two adjacent end sections of hollow profiles in a manner that is almost invisible from the outside.

[0014] The T-connection module designed according to the invention extends substantially in a plane which is spanned by the alignment of the partial section of the longitudinal strut and the partial section of a cross strut running perpendicular thereto and connected thereto. All further table frame modules of the modular table frame can also be designed such that the further table frame modules are either individual sections of longitudinal struts, cross struts or table legs, or that the individual table frame modules also extend exclusively within a plane. In this way it is possible for the modular table frame to be assembled from several table frame modules, each of which extends exclusively within a plane. The table frame modules designed in this way can therefore be arranged in a particularly space-saving manner in a comparatively flat package with small packing dimensions.

[0015] Even a single T-connection module facilitates the manufacture and assembly of the modular table frame made of metal and at the same time results in improved stability and mechanical load-bearing capacity of the modular table frame designed in this way. With a view to further reducing manufacturing and assembly costs, it is optionally provided that the table frame has two pairs of identically designed T-connection modules. Preferably, it can be provided that the table frame has a total of four identically designed T-connection modules. Each of the two longitudinal struts can have a T-connection module at its two opposite ends. The T-connection modules assigned to a longitudinal strut are expediently of the same design. If all four T-connection modules for the two longitudinal struts of the table frame are designed in the same way, the manufacturing effort for the identical T-connection modules is particularly low. Furthermore, assembly of the modular table frame from the individual table frame modules is simplified, since any T-connection module can be arranged and mounted at any connection between a longitudinal strut and a support frame element, without the need to first identify and select a specific T-connection module.

[0016] By using similarly designed T-connection modules, a symmetrical shape of the modular table frame and thus an aesthetically pleasing design can be achieved. Although the individual connections of the table frame modules can already be designed to be as inconspicuous and unobtrusive as possible, the use of similarly designed T-connection modules can also ensure that the joints between the individual table frame modules in the two support frame elements are arranged similarly or even symmetrically within the support frame elements, which is often perceived as particularly appealing.

[0017] The use of four identically designed T-connection modules requires that the intersecting longitudinal struts are arranged within a single plane. It may also be expedient for the two longitudinal struts to be laterally offset from one another and to run diagonally past one another in an intersection area. In this case, two pairs of T-connection modules must be provided, with the two pairs having a permanent connection between the sections of the longitudinal struts and the sections of the cross struts aligned transversely thereto, offset by at least one diameter of the section of the longitudinal struts along the section of the cross struts.

[0018] According to an advantageous embodiment of the inventive concept, it is provided that in at least one pair of T-connection modules the connection point of the end of the partial section of the longitudinal strut has a first distance from a first end of the partial section of the cross strut and a second distance from an opposite second end of the partial section of the cross strut, and that the first distance is different from the second distance. The T-connection module is therefore not mirror-symmetrical, but has two partial sections of the cross strut which extend different distances from the connection point with the longitudinal strut. The T-connection module can then be inserted into the relevant cross strut in two different orientations relative to the support frame element.Depending on the orientation of the T-connection module, the section of the longitudinal strut has a smaller or larger distance to a front edge or rear edge of the table frame running parallel to the longitudinal strut, which is formed by a connecting line through two table legs of the table frame, each of which is arranged on the same side relative to the longitudinal strut.

[0019] In this way, different versions of the modular table frame can be joined together when assembling the individual table frame modules. The T-connecting modules can be arranged and joined together with other table frame modules of the support frame elements in such a way that the longitudinal struts are connected centrally between two table legs of a support frame element to the respective support frame element or to the cross struts of the support frame element. In this version, the two longitudinal struts form a connection between the two support frame elements that runs in the middle of the table and at the same distance from the long edges of the table frame. A table with this type of table frame can be used equally from both sides because the longitudinal struts are arranged and run in the middle of the table. With a different alignment and connection of the T-connectors with the other table frame modules of the support frame elements, the longitudinal struts are arranged off-center and run near each long edge of the modular table frame. From an opposite long side, the longitudinal struts are then far apart, providing a large amount of free space between the support frame elements. A user sitting on the relevant side of a table with this type of table frame can enjoy particularly generous legroom.

[0020] Preferably, it is optionally provided that the first distance is more than twice as large, preferably more than three times as large and particularly preferably more than five times as large as the second distance. The T-connection module is then more L-shaped and, in its two connection variants with the adjacent table frame modules of the support frame elements, enables a significantly different arrangement of the longitudinal struts, which then run either approximately in the middle of the table frame or close to a long edge of the table frame and thus close to the two table legs assigned to this long edge.

[0021] Each support frame element can be assembled from two T-connection modules and two table leg modules. The two table leg modules each have a table leg and, on each table leg, two laterally projecting sections of a cross brace. The table leg modules of a support frame element can either be of identical design or each have sections of different lengths of the cross braces connecting the two table leg modules via the T-connection modules. It can be provided that each cross brace has a section of symmetry which forms a section of the cross brace which can be connected to the associated T-connection module, wherein a length of the section formed by the section of symmetry corresponds to a difference between the first distance and the second distance of the T-connection module. This symmetrical section can either be designed as a separate table frame module and, if required, integrated into a support frame element in such a way that the asymmetrically designed T-connection module together with the symmetrical section module forms a symmetrical T-connection module, in which the longitudinal strut is arranged centrally between the two opposite ends of the section of the cross strut formed by the T-connection module and the symmetrical module.

[0022] It is also conceivable that the symmetry section is designed as part of a table frame module of a support frame element and, when the table frame module in question is used, results in a T-connection module connected to this table frame module arranging its longitudinal strut centrally between the two table legs of the support frame element and connecting it to the support frame element.

[0023] According to an advantageous embodiment of the inventive concept, each table leg is permanently connected to at least one vertically projecting section of a cross brace. A support frame element can then be assembled from two table leg modules and two T-connecting modules connecting the two table leg modules, each table leg module having a table leg and two sections of a cross brace permanently connected to the table leg. In this way, the modular table frame can be assembled from a comparatively small number of individual table frame modules, thereby keeping assembly costs to a minimum. The sections of a cross brace that are permanently connected to the table leg create a mechanically resilient connection between the cross braces and the table leg and result in high stability and mechanical load-bearing capacity for a support frame element assembled from such table leg modules and T-connection modules. If more than one section of a cross brace is permanently connected to a table leg, the two or more sections of each cross brace can be spaced from one another but protrude in the same direction from the table leg, so that the table leg module with the table leg and the sections of cross braces that are permanently connected to it extends exclusively within one plane. In this way, the space required for such a table leg module is comparatively small. Several table leg modules can, for example, be arranged flat on top of one another.

[0024] Each individual longitudinal strut can be assembled from two T-connection modules. In this case, the two longitudinal struts of a modular table frame according to the invention, each arranged diagonally and intersecting between the two support frame elements, can loosely touch at an intersection point or be pressed against each other with prestress, or can be arranged at a distance from each other and extend between the two support frame elements. With a view to achieving the greatest possible stability of the modular table frame, it may be expedient for the two longitudinal struts to be connected to one another via a common crossing module, wherein the crossing module has a central section of the first longitudinal strut and a central section of the second longitudinal strut, which are connected to one another in a crossing manner, wherein each of the two central sections can be connected at its opposite ends to a T-connecting module. By means of such a crossing module, the two longitudinal struts are connected to one another and form a longitudinal strut assembly with which the two support frame elements can be connected to one another in a tilt-proof manner. The crossing module can also be used to specify the dimensions of the two longitudinal struts independently of the respective design of the T-connecting modules. The sections of a longitudinal strut formed in the T-connecting modules can be comparatively short, while the common crossing module has, in comparison, long middle sections of the respective longitudinal struts. The distance between the two support frame elements can be easily varied while maintaining the respective T-connecting modules unchanged by connecting different crossing modules, each with differently long middle sections between the oppositely arranged support frame elements, to the respective T-connecting modules. The distance between the two support frame elements can also be varied by inserting an extension section between the crossing module and the T-connecting modules. The connection between the two middle sections in the common crossing module can be rigid or pivotable. With a pivotable connection of the intersecting central sections, the length of the two longitudinal struts can be easily adjusted, for example by inserting extension sections, thereby changing the pivot angle between the first longitudinal strut and the second longitudinal strut in the crossing module. In this case, the two central sections of the crossing module are connected to each other so that they can pivot relative to each other.

[0025] Various possibilities and methods are known from practice for example how a longitudinal strut can be permanently and permanently connected to a cross strut. In the case of the modular table frame made of metal according to the invention, it is considered particularly advantageous that in each T-connecting module the section of a longitudinal strut is welded to the section of the cross strut running perpendicular to it. After suitable preparation of the areas of the sections to be welded together, a very even and therefore aesthetically pleasing weld seam can be created with manageable effort and effort, which is hardly noticeable. The overall visual impression of the modular table frame is then not impaired by conspicuous connecting elements or prominent joints.A T-connection module with welded sections of a longitudinal strut and a cross strut has particularly high mechanical strength. According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the inventive concept, the connectable sections of the cross struts and the longitudinal struts are each made of hollow profiles. The hollow profiles can, for example, be tubular and each have a circular cross-sectional area. With rotationally symmetrical tubular hollow profiles, an often particularly harmonious overall impression of the modular table frame can be achieved. In addition, such tubular hollow profiles can be rotated relative to one another in a visually unobtrusive manner. This means, for example, that the T-connecting modules can have a smaller or larger pivot angle relative to the connected sections of the cross struts, depending on the total length of the longitudinal struts and their diagonal course, without this resulting in a visible offset at the joints between the T-connecting module and the adjacent section of the cross strut. However, the hollow profiles can also have a different cross-sectional area, for example, a square, rectangular, oval, or any polygonal cross-sectional area. Hollow profiles have a low dead weight and comparatively high mechanical strength and load-bearing capacity.A modular metal table frame made from hollow profiles can therefore have a high level of mechanical stability and load-bearing capacity despite its low weight. It can, for example, support heavy table tops or absorb large mechanical loads acting on the table frame or on a table top resting on it. Hollow profiles as sections of the cross braces and longitudinal braces also have the advantage that a hollow interior of the hollow profiles can be used to connect two adjacent sections of cross braces or longitudinal braces. A connecting element arranged in the cavities of the hollow profiles can extend over a wide area within a hollow profile and is not or hardly visible from the outside.

[0026] According to an advantageous embodiment of the inventive concept, interconnectable partial sections are connected to one another via a radially expandable clamping body, the first end of which projects into a first hollow profile end region surrounded by a first hollow profile and the opposite second end of which projects into a second hollow profile end region surrounded by a second hollow profile, the radially expandable clamping body being clamped in the first and second hollow profile end regions and thereby connecting the first hollow profile to the second hollow profile. The expandable clamping body can be actuated and expanded, for example, via a grub screw or via a plurality of grub screws. Only the grub screw or the plurality of grub screws must be accessible from the outside. Otherwise, the radially expandable clamping body can be arranged completely within the hollow profiles to be connected to one another. The radially expandable clamping body can be designed to be sufficiently long so that the sections of the radially expandable clamping body projecting into the first hollow profile end region and into the second hollow profile end region are designed to be sufficiently long and extend sufficiently far into the respective hollow profile end regions to enable a reliable connection of the two hollow profiles to one another and to prevent undesired tilting or bending of the interconnected hollow profiles across the joint.

[0027] In the region of a butt joint between the first hollow profile end region and the second hollow profile end region, a recess can be provided in the first hollow profile or in the second hollow profile or in both hollow profiles, through which recess the radially expandable clamping body can be actuated and, after its arrangement in the two hollow profile end regions, can be expanded in order to clamp the two hollow profiles together and connect them to one another. It can also be expedient for the radially expandable clamping body to be able to be expanded, for example, via two grub screws arranged at a distance from one another, wherein each grub screw can be arranged in an associated recess in one of the two hollow profiles to be connected. The grub screws, which still project radially even when the clamping body is in a radially expanded state, can then bring about a positive engagement with the associated hollow profile, so that a positive connection between the two hollow profiles is also achieved.

[0028] The radially expandable clamping body can, for example, be sleeve-shaped and have at least a first and a second clamping region of a sleeve-shaped clamping body wall, which lie opposite one another in the circumferential direction and can be displaced radially outwards by means of an expansion element which can be mounted in the first clamping region and brought into operative connection with the second clamping region. The two clamping regions can, for example, be designed as clamping tongues which are arranged on opposite circumferential regions of a sleeve-shaped connecting section and extend away from the connecting body in the axial direction. The two clamping tongues can be deformed radially outwards by means of a suitable expansion element or by means of a plurality of expansion elements arranged at a distance from one another in the axial direction and can thereby radially expand the clamping regions of the clamping body formed by the clamping tongues. The clamping tongues can be radially expanded in advance so that the clamping tongues are compressed when the clamping body is inserted into a hollow profile end area and rest against the hollow profile end area under pre-tension. The one-piece design of the clamping body prevents two otherwise initially loose components of the clamping body from accidentally separating from each other during assembly, thereby significantly complicating assembly.

[0029] The at least one expansion element is expediently arranged at a distance from the sleeve-shaped connecting section between the two clamping tongues such that the two clamping tongues can be radially expanded using the expansion element. The expansion element can, for example, be a grub screw which is mounted in a threaded bore in a first clamping tongue and can be screwed in far enough that one end of the grub screw rests against the opposite second clamping tongue and displaces this in the radial direction away from the first clamping tongue. With two expansion elements arranged at a distance from one another in the axial direction, for example grub screws, the two clamping tongues can be reliably radially expanded over a clamping area extending in the axial direction and can therefore clamp together two adjacent hollow profile end areas of two hollow profiles.

[0030] According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the inventive concept, it can optionally be provided that the sleeve-shaped clamping body has two deformation slot planes which run at a distance from one another, which each extend from one end face to the respective opposite end face and which delimit a first or second clamping region of the sleeve-shaped clamping body wall on an area opposite the other deformation slot plane, that from each end face two deformation slots are formed which run in the same deformation slot plane on opposite wall sections of the sleeve-shaped clamping body wall and which extend into the vicinity of the opposite end face. The two clamping areas then extend almost completely over the sleeve-shaped clamping body in the axial direction and are only connected to one another via two rod-shaped deformation webs which are formed and delimited by the deformation slots between the two deformation slot planes. Since the first clamping area and the second clamping area, which is opposite one another in the circumferential direction, are connected to one another via the deformation webs on opposite end faces of the sleeve-shaped clamping body, the two clamping areas are displaced essentially uniformly radially outwards when the sleeve-shaped clamping body expands radially in the axial direction and can therefore generate a consistently high clamping force in hollow profile end areas over their entire axial extent.

[0031] The sleeve-shaped clamping body can be provided in a radially expanded state, so that the sleeve-shaped clamping body or the two clamping areas must be slightly compressed for insertion into a hollow profile end area. This ensures that the sleeve-shaped clamping body is held in position under pretension after insertion into the hollow profile end area and cannot inadvertently slip within the hollow profile end area during assembly.

[0032] Regardless of the respective design of the various variants of the modular table frame according to the invention, this table frame has numerous advantages.

[0033] The table frame can be made entirely from uniform-looking hollow profiles. The hollow profiles are made of metal and can be manufactured and further processed using conventional metalworking processes. Hollow metal profiles are lightweight and offer high mechanical strength.

[0034] A structurally complex detachable connection between two sections aligned perpendicular to each other is not required. The permanent connection between the two sections of a T-connecting module can be uniformly designed and welded in a visually appealing manner. All joints and thus all connections between two table frame modules can be arranged along a straight section of a cross strut or a longitudinal strut. All connections can be made with a uniformly designed connecting element. The connections can be designed to be very inconspicuous in a visually appealing way, so that they are not noticed upon a cursory examination of the table frame.

[0035] Due to an asymmetrical design of the T-connection module, different variants of a modular table frame can be combined using the same table frame modules, with the longitudinal struts being arranged either centrally or close to a long edge.

[0036] Dividing the table frame into different table frame modules allows for simple and cost-effective modification of the table frame and facilitates three-dimensional scalability. Only the table frame modules relevant for the change need to be replaced. The distance between the table top and the surface can be changed using table leg modules with longer or shorter table legs. The length of the cross braces or longitudinal braces can be easily changed and adapted to specific requirements using shorter or longer T-connection modules or with the help of additional extension modules. Two T-connection modules can also be inserted into each cross brace, so that two diagonal cross braces, each with two longitudinal braces, are arranged parallel to one another and connect the two side frame elements. The individual table frame modules can be manufactured in different colors or surface finishes without any significant additional cost. Differently designed table frame modules can be combined with each other according to individual requirements.

[0037] All the table frame modules required for the modular table frame according to the invention can be combined into a single package with comparatively compact dimensions. The dimensions of the package are largely determined by the length of the table legs and the width of the T-connecting modules. The package can be just a few centimeters thick.

[0038] The modular table frame can be assembled quickly by one person alone. Incorrect assembly is largely eliminated.

[0039] It is also conceivable for the two T-connecting modules in a side frame element to be used with horizontal sections of the longitudinal struts rather than diagonal sections. A further table leg module can then be connected to the two horizontally projecting sections of the two T-connecting modules to create a three-legged support structure. A table top can also be placed on top of such a three-legged support structure. Particularly with large table tops, it can be useful to assemble two three-legged support structures from the individual table frame modules and place them at a distance from one another to serve as a table frame for the table top.

[0065] Figures 1 to 3 schematically show an exemplary modular table frame 1 according to the invention. The modular table frame 1 has two support frame elements 2. Each support frame element 2 has two vertically extending table legs 4 which, when the modular table frame 1 is used as intended, are placed on a base 3. The two table legs 4 of a support frame element 2 are each connected to one another via two cross braces 5. The two cross braces 5 are arranged at a horizontal distance from one another, so that the two table legs 4 and the cross braces 5 connecting these table legs 4 to one another form a frame-shaped support frame element 2. The two cross braces 5 can each have a similar or identical distance from the respectively assigned ends of the two table legs 4.

[0066] The two support frame elements 2 are connected to one another via two longitudinal struts 6 which are arranged so as to cross one another and are aligned diagonally at an acute angle to the base 3. The two longitudinal struts 6 are pivotally connected to one another in a central region via a pivot hinge 7. Instead of a pivotable connection, a rigid connection can also be specified, or the two longitudinal struts 6 can be spaced apart so that the two longitudinal struts 6 do not touch in an intersection region. In the exemplary embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3, the longitudinal struts 6 are connected to the support frame elements 2 at their respective ends in the same vertical plane, run in a slightly curved manner through the intersection region and lie closely against one another in the intersection region with a prestress. The two longitudinal struts 6 can also be rigidly connected to one another in the crossing area or can merely touch one another without a material-locking or form-locking connection of the two longitudinal struts 6 being formed in the crossing area.

[0067] A table top 8, shown in dashed lines in Figures 1 to 3 for clarity, can be laid loosely on the modular table frame 1, so that the table top 8 is supported on the base 3 via the four table legs 4. In the case of a loosely supported table top 8, a lateral overhang of an edge 9 of the table top 8 along the entire peripheral edge is expediently small, so that in the event of a point load on the table top 8 in the area of an edge 9, tipping of the table top 8 over the two table legs 4 facing the loaded edge 9 due to the dead weight of the table top 8 is largely excluded.

[0068] While Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a modular table frame 1 designed according to the invention, Figure 2 shows a side view of a longer long side of the modular table frame 1 and Figure 3 shows a side view of a shorter long side of the modular table frame 1. The long side view shows the two long struts 6 which connect the two support frame elements 2 arranged on opposite sides of the table top 8. Of the two support frame elements 2, only the table leg 4 facing the viewer is visible in the long side view. The long side view according to Figure 3 shows a support frame element 2 with the two table legs 4 and the two cross struts 5 connecting the table legs 4.The support frame element 2 facing the viewer is connected via the two longitudinal struts 6 to a support frame element 2 facing away from the viewer and concealed by the front support frame element 2.

[0069] Figure 4 shows the modular table frame 1 shown in Figures 1 to 3 with visible joints 10 between individual table frame modules 11, 12, 13 made of metal. Each support frame element 2 has two table leg modules 11, each of which comprises a table leg 4 and two laterally projecting sections 14 of the cross braces 5 connecting the two table legs 4 to one another. Two T-connecting modules 12 designed according to the invention are arranged between the two table leg modules 11. Each T-connecting module 12 has a section 15 of a longitudinal brace 6 and a section 16 of a cross brace 5 running perpendicular thereto, the section 15 of the longitudinal brace 6 being welded to the section 16 of the cross brace 5 and thus permanently connected thereto. When the modular table frame 1 is used as intended, each T-connecting module 12 is joined to the section 16 of the cross brace 5 between the associated sections 14 of the cross brace 5 of the table leg modules 11, so that the section 15 of the longitudinal brace 6 protrudes perpendicularly from the cross brace 5. All four T-connecting modules 12 are connected to one another via a centrally arranged crossing module 13. The longitudinal brace 6, formed by two T-connecting modules 12 and the crossing module 13, then runs diagonally at an acute angle to the base 3 between the two support frame elements 2.

[0070] In Figure 5, the table frame modules 11, 12 and 13 required for a modular table frame 1 designed according to the invention are shown in the respective required number.

[0071] In the embodiment shown in Figures 4 and 5, the T-connection module 12 is not mirror-symmetrical. A connection point 17 of the end of the partial section 15 of the longitudinal strut 6 has a first distance 18 to a first end of the partial section 16 of the transverse strut 5 and a second distance 19 to an opposite second end of the partial section 16 of the transverse strut 5, wherein the first distance 18 is different from the second distance 19. The T-connection module 12 is therefore approximately L-shaped, as can be seen in Figure 5.

[0072] 6 and 7. The T-connecting modules 12 can be arranged and integrated between the two table leg modules 11 of a support frame element 2 in such a way that the respective partial section 15 of the longitudinal strut 6 in each T-connecting module 12 projects vertically in the middle between the two table legs 4 of a support frame element 2. The two longitudinal struts 6 then also run in the middle between opposite longitudinal edges of the modular table frame 1 and corresponding longitudinal edges 20 of the rectangular table top 8 on the modular table frame 1. With this symmetrical arrangement of the longitudinal struts 6, the modular table frame 1 can be used equally from both long sides.

[0073] The T-connection modules 12 can also be arranged with an opposite orientation between the two table leg modules 11 of the two support frame elements 2 and connected to the adjacent sections 14 of the cross braces 5. In this assembly variant, the two longitudinal braces 6 run near a longitudinal edge of the modular table frame 1 or the corresponding longitudinal edge 20 of the table top 8. A user has particularly ample legroom on a longitudinal edge of the table top 8 opposite this longitudinal edge 20.

[0074] 6 and 7, the two table leg modules 11 of a support frame element 2 have sections 14 of the cross braces 5 of different lengths. The longer section 14 of the cross braces 5 in each case has a section of symmetry 21 whose length corresponds to a difference between the first distance 18 and the second distance 19 of the sections 16 of the cross brace 5 in the T-connecting module 12. The section of symmetry 21 is formed in one piece on the respective table leg module 11. It is also possible for the two table leg modules 11 of a support frame element 2 to be designed identically and, if necessary, for a separately manufactured section of symmetry 21 to be detachably connected to the associated table leg module 11.

[0075] Figures 8 to 11 show various views of two different connecting elements 22 which can be used for the detachable connection of two adjacent sections 14, 15, 16 of cross struts 5 or longitudinal struts 6, the cross struts 5 and longitudinal struts 6 each being designed as a hollow profile. In Figures 8 to 11, the respective connecting elements 22 always exemplarily connect two sections 14, 15 of a cross strut 5. The connecting element 22 shown in Figures 8, 9 and 10 has two half-shells 23, 24 of a circular cylinder, the distance between which can be changed and predetermined. The two half-shells 23, 24 each protrude with their opposite ends 25 into a hollow section 26, 27 of the two adjacent sections 14, 15, 16 of transverse struts 5 or longitudinal struts 6. A threaded bore 28 is formed in one of the two half-shells 24.A grub screw 29 is screwed into this threaded hole 28 until a tip 30 of the grub screw 29 rests against the adjacent half-shell 23 and, when screwed further into the threaded hole 28, pushes the half-shell 24 with the threaded hole 28 away from the half-shell 24. As a result, the two half-shells 23, 24 are pressed away from one another and clamped in the two hollow sections 26, 27 of the two adjacent partial sections 14, 15, 16 of the cross struts 5 or longitudinal struts 6 in order to connect the two partial sections 14, 15, 16 of the cross struts 5 or longitudinal struts 6 to one another in a force-fitting manner via the connecting element 22.

[0076] In order to be able to operate the grub screws 29 and screw them into the threaded bore 28 of the half-shell 24, which is located within the hollow sections 26, 27, the two adjacent sections 14, 15, 16 each have a semicircular recess 31 on their adjoining end faces, through which the grub screw 29 can be screwed in and operated. The recesses 31 in the joint 10 between the two sections 14, 15, 16 and the grub screw 29 screwed therein are the only visible indication of the connection between the two sections 14, 15, 16 of the transverse strut 5 or the longitudinal strut 6. The recesses 31 can be expediently arranged and aligned in the joints 10 such that the recesses 31 are not perceived by an observer when the modular table frame 1 is used as intended.

[0077] Figure 11 shows a different embodiment of the connecting element 22. The two half-shells 23, 24 are clamped together by two set screws 29 arranged at a distance from one another, each of which is screwed into an associated threaded bore 28. In each section 14, 15, 16 of the transverse strut 5 or the longitudinal strut 6, a circular recess 32 is arranged through which the respective set screw 29 can be screwed in and actuated. A length of the grub screws 29 can be specified such that the fully screwed-in grub screw 29 still projects slightly from the half-shell 24 even when the half-shells 23, 24 are fully pressed apart and clamped in the hollow sections 26, 27, whereby a positive engagement with the respective circular recess 32 in the partial sections 14, 15, 16 of the transverse strut 5 or the longitudinal strut 6 is effected. In this way, the two sections 14, 15, 16 can be connected to one another not only by clamping, but also by positive locking. The positive locking connection ensures reliable fastening of the two sections to one another and thus a reliable connection of the two table frame modules, even if no or only an incomplete clamping effect is achieved with the relevant connecting element 22.

[0078] Figures 12 and 13 show two table frame elements which are connected to one another and thus coupled, forming a large table frame 1 made up of a plurality of table frame modules 11, 12, 13. The large table frame 1 has three support frame elements 2 which are arranged next to one another. The centrally arranged support frame element 2 is connected to the two outer support frame elements 2 via longitudinal struts 6. For this purpose, the middle support frame element 2 has two T-connection modules 12 in each cross strut 5, one of which is used for the connection to the outer support frame element 2 shown on the left in Figures 12 and 13, and a T-connection module 12 arranged next to it along the relevant cross strut 5 is used for the connection to the outer support frame element 2 shown on the right in Figures 12 and 13.12 and 13, the use of pairs of identically designed T-connecting modules 12 is shown purely as an example. The connection point 17 of the partial section 15 of the longitudinal strut 6 to the partial section 16 of the cross strut 5 is, in the case of two T-connecting modules 12, offset by approximately one diameter of the longitudinal struts 6 relative to the corresponding connection point 17. The two T-connecting modules 12 with the matching arrangement of the respective connection point 17 are arranged at the two ends of each longitudinal strut 6. The two intersecting longitudinal struts 6 therefore run transversely to the cross struts 5, offset from one another by one diameter of the longitudinal struts 6.In this way, a structurally simple pivoting connection of the two longitudinal struts 6 guided past each other in the crossing area can be produced with a crossing module 13.

[0079] Figures 14 and 15 show an example of a further table frame element which can be assembled from four T-connecting modules 12 and four table leg modules 11. Two T-connecting modules 12 are arranged one behind the other along a cross strut 5 and connected to one another, with the partial sections 15 of the longitudinal struts 6 not projecting at an acute angle to the base 3, but horizontally. A pair of T-connecting modules 12 arranged at the top and connected in this way and a further pair of T-connecting modules 12 arranged at the bottom and hidden in the plan view in Figure 14 are each connected laterally to a table leg module 11 at the open ends of the horizontally projecting partial sections 15 of the longitudinal struts 6. In the plan view, this creates a table frame with four table legs 4 which are connected to one another in a cross shape via the T-connecting modules 12.

[0080] Different orientations of the laterally projecting sections 15 of the longitudinal struts 6 in a T-connecting module 12 can be made possible in a simple manner in that the two recesses 31 on the end faces of the adjacent sections 14, 15, 16 are not each semicircular, but rather their shape corresponds to half of an elongated hole. Figure 16 shows two adjacent sections 14 and 15 as an example. The two interconnected sections 14, 15 can be pivoted relative to one another over more than the length of the elongated hole and, together with the two elongated hole halves which are then regularly offset relative to one another in the circumferential direction, form an overlap region in which the grub screw 29 is arranged and can be actuated from the outside.

[0081] Figures 17 and 18 show a further embodiment of a table frame element which is assembled from three table leg modules 11 and two T-connecting modules 12. The two identically designed T-connecting modules 12 are each aligned horizontally and, in a plan view shown in Figure 18, are arranged so as to be congruent. At each free end of the two T-connecting modules 12, the two mutually associated horizontally projecting sections 15 of the longitudinal struts 6 and the likewise horizontally projecting sections 16 of the cross struts 5 are each connected to a table leg module 11. In this way, a table frame element with three table legs 4 is formed.

[0082] While the table frame element shown in Figures 17 and 18 has a T-shaped arrangement of the individual table frame modules 11 and 12 in plan view, in the embodiment shown in Figure 19 an L-shaped arrangement in plan view is realized due to the opposite orientation of the T-connecting modules 12 relative to the table leg modules 11.

[0083] The embodiment of a connecting element 22 shown schematically in Figures 20 and 21 has a one-piece clamping body 32 which in turn has a sleeve-shaped connecting section 33 which is closed in the circumferential direction and two clamping tongues 34, 35 which project in the axial direction and are arranged on opposite circumferential sides. The two clamping tongues 34, 35 each form a clamping region of a body wall of the sleeve-shaped clamping body 32. Before the clamping body 32 is inserted into a hollow section 26, 27 of a partial section 14, 15, 16 of transverse struts 5 or longitudinal struts 6, the two clamping tongues 34, 35 can project slightly radially outwards or, for example, have an angled or wave-shaped shape, as is shown by way of example in Figures 20 and 21.To assemble the connecting element 22, the clamping body 32 must be inserted into the two hollow sections 26, 27 of the two adjacent sections 14, 15, 16 of cross struts 5 or longitudinal struts 6 in such a way that the two clamping tongues 34, 35 extend over the joint 10 between the cross struts 5 and / or longitudinal struts 6 and are pressed radially outwards in both hollow sections 26, 27 and clamped against the hollow sections 26, 27.

[0084] Two threaded bores 28 are formed in a first clamping tongue 34. A grub screw 29 is screwed into each threaded bore 28 until a tip 30 of the grub screw 29 rests against the oppositely arranged second clamping tongue 35 and, upon further screwing into the threaded bore 28, pushes the latter away from the first clamping tongue 34 with the threaded bore 28. Each grub screw 29 forms an expansion element with which a distance between the two clamping tongues 34, 35 can be radially increased. As a result, the two clamping tongues 34, 35 are pushed away from each other and clamped in the two hollow space sections 26, 27 of the two adjacent sections 14, 15, 16 of the cross struts 5 or longitudinal struts 6 in order to connect the two sections 14, 15, 16 of the cross struts 5 or longitudinal struts 6 to one another in a force-fitting manner via the connecting element 22.

[0085] The connecting element 22 designed in this way is formed in one piece, which facilitates assembly of the connecting element 22 and thus of the table frame 1.

[0086] In the embodiment shown in Figures 22 and 23 for a connecting element 22 which is again designed differently, the connecting element 22 has a substantially sleeve-shaped clamping body 32 with two deformation slot planes 36 and 37, which are illustrated in Figure 23 as sectional planes 36, 37. The two deformation slot planes 36 and 37 are aligned parallel to one another and run at a distance from one another and each at a distance from a

[0087] Center axis 38 of the sleeve-shaped clamping body 32 . In

[0088] Circumferential direction is defined by each deformation slot plane 36,

[0089] 37 in a region of the sleeve-shaped clamping body 32 opposite the respective other deformation slot plane 37, 36, a first clamping region 39 and a second clamping region 40 opposite in the circumferential direction are delimited.

[0090] From a first end face 41 of the clamping body 32, two deformation slots 42 extend in the deformation slot plane 36 to the vicinity of a second end face 43 of the clamping body 32 opposite the first end face 41. The two deformation slots 42 are arranged on opposite wall sections of a sleeve-shaped clamping body wall. From the second end face 43 of the clamping body 32, two deformation slots 44 extend in the deformation slot plane 37 in the opposite direction to the vicinity of the first end face 41. A deformation web 45 is formed between two adjacent deformation slots 42 and 44 which overlap over a wide axial area and which connects the two clamping areas 39 and 40 which are opposite one another in the circumferential direction, so that the sleeve-shaped clamping body 32 is formed in one piece.

[0091] In the first clamping area 39, two threaded holes 28 are formed, in each of which a grub screw 29 can be screwed in and secured. The grub screws 29 extend in the fully assembled state as far as the oppositely arranged clamping area 40 and press the two clamping areas 39, 40 in the two hollow sections 26, 27 of the two adjacent partial sections 14, 15, 16 of cross struts 5 or longitudinal struts 6 against the inner sides of the two hollow sections 26, 27 and thereby clamp the connecting element 22 in both hollow sections 26, 27, so that a reliable and permanent connection of the cross struts 5 and / or longitudinal struts 6 joined together in this way is brought about.

[0092] The connecting element 22 can be made available for assembly already in a radially expanded state. The two clamping regions 39, 40 are then arranged radially spaced from one another and connected to one another via the deformation webs 45, wherein in a side view of the expanded connecting element 22 the two clamping regions 39, 40 and the deformation web 45 visible in the side view have an approximately Z-shaped course. The radially expanded connecting element 22 must be compressed slightly during assembly for insertion into a hollow section 26, 27 and is then held in a clamped manner in the hollow section 26, 27 by a spring action of the compressed connecting element 22. This facilitates the assembly of the connecting element 22 in the hollow section 26, 27 and the screwing in of the grub screw 29.

[0093] All connecting elements 22 described and shown as examples can also be used to connect any hollow profiles 26, 27, which do not necessarily have to be part of a modular table frame 1, but rather connect any elements with suitable hollow profiles 26, 27 to one another.
