Abstract
Description
Technical field of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a method for delivering a quantity of a paving material for a pedestrian or vehicle traffic lane to a given site, said paving material comprising a mixture of aggregates and a binder.
[0002] The invention also relates to a system for delivering a quantity of such a material for paving a pedestrian or vehicle traffic lane to a specific site.
[0003] The invention finds application in particular for the material for hot mix asphalt. A hot mix asphalt is formed by a mixture of aggregates and a bitumen-type binder. It may, for example, be a hot mix asphalt known as bituminous concrete for the purpose of forming wearing courses for roadways or road parking lots. It may also be semi-granular bituminous concrete whose formulation is discontinuous to improve the roughness of the layers formed. Such hot mix asphalts may be bitumen-gravel derivatives, often used for the construction of road bases on various road networks and industrial platforms, or even binder course asphalts, i.e. a transition layer between the base course and the wearing course. The invention can also find application for a reinforced stabilized sand type coating material, known to be a mixture of aggregates in the form of mechanically compacted sand, and a hydraulic binder, polymer or resin (cement, lime, pozzolan) and possible additives, for example including colorants. State of the art
[0004] It is known that to produce hot mix, it is necessary to prepare a very large quantity of aggregates (typically pebbles), for example several hundred tons per day, by heating them to a temperature that can be between 200 and 250°C. Then, the result of this first operation is mixed with a binder, essentially bitumen-type. Once this mix is prepared in a mixer, trucks come to collect it from the production site to transport this coating material in order to deliver this still hot mix to a specific site, hence the term hot mix, typically in a temperature range between 100 and 150°C. In known installations, the mixing of aggregates and binder via the mixer is carried out in the same production location as where the aggregates are prepared.
[0005] This currently known solution is no longer adapted to the economic and ecological demands and expectations of consumers. This imbalance is manifested by an increase in energy costs, an increase in the carbon footprint, and a change in social attitudes.
[0006] Furthermore, the production and delivery of small quantities is of little value when the initial material is first produced by facilities designed to produce very large quantities daily in order to be profitable themselves. Furthermore, the logistics and transport of the coating material are very delicate under these conditions. The production of small quantities, within ever-tightening deadlines, is also a growing customer requirement.
[0007] Currently, the resources used for hot mix production are not in line with the price / volume ratio. This imbalance favors lower-quality work and is not part of a sustainable ecological approach.
[0008] For small quantities, customers have no other option than to pay a high price for a low volume (up to 5 times the value), or to use unsustainable and highly polluting methods (example of the cold asphalt solution). Subject of the invention
[0009] The aim of the present invention is to propose a solution for delivering a quantity of a material for paving a pedestrian or vehicle traffic lane to a specific site, where said material for paving comprises a mixture of aggregates and a binder, which addresses all or part of the problems mentioned above in relation to the state of the art.
[0010] In particular, the aim of the invention is to propose such a solution which meets at least one of the following objectives: be more economical, be more environmentally friendly, be more flexible in terms of the quantity to be delivered on a case-by-case basis, allow the delivery of variable quantities of coating material, whether large or small, without significantly increasing the cost for the end customer.
[0011] This aim can be achieved by implementing a method for delivering, to a given site, a quantity of a material for paving a pedestrian or vehicle traffic lane, said material for paving comprising a mixture of aggregates and a binder, this method comprising the following steps: step of preparing, implemented at a first location, a first quantity of said aggregates having a temperature included in a first predetermined range, first step of transporting, by first transport means, all or part of the first prepared quantity, to a second location, in order to constitute, at the second location, a second quantity of aggregates having a temperature included in the first predetermined range, step of mixing, implemented by a mixer located at the second location, between a third quantity of aggregates taken from the second quantity of aggregates and having a temperature included in the first predetermined range, and a given quantity of said binder, in order to form a first quantity of coating material at the second location, second step of transporting, by second transport means, all or part of the first quantity of coating material, in order to deliver,at the determined site, a second quantity of coating material having a temperature within a second predetermined range.
[0012] An advantage of this solution is that it is more environmentally friendly by tending to reduce the carbon footprint. By the very advantageous fact of distinguishing the first location where the aggregates are prepared and the second location where the mixture with the binder is made, all while separating the first means of transport and the second means of transport, this solution makes it possible to deliver quantities of material for surfacing (in particular hot mix, but possibly for example lime-reinforced sand) on demand for its customers (communities, public works companies, landscapers, individuals), by limiting waste and wastage and this within a field of action of a few tens of kilometers for the determined site of approximately. In other words, by separating the preparation of the aggregates and the mixing between these aggregates and the binder, at different locations, it becomes possible (in particular by using storage tanks adapted to the first location and the second location in order to preserve the thermal of the aggregates locally) on the one hand to bring the second location where the mixing is carried out closer to the determined site where the end customer expects his material (which lowers the carbon footprint and is more environmentally friendly, and which, obviously, lowers the costs and risks of transport), on the other hand to adapt on a case-by-case basis according to the need, and in an economical manner (without affecting the price / volume ratio), the quantity of material for coating actually produced locally. Advantageously, the quantity of material for coating produced at the second location is deducted from the quantity of aggregates produced at the first location. This generally results in a reduction in production costs and transport times, a reduction in the use of cold mixes, which are particularly inefficient, dangerous and polluting, but also allows better accessibility and autonomy for customers requiring small quantities of material. This improves ecological and economic conditions, improves responsiveness and possible diversification both in terms of the range of materials and the services provided. It is possible to adapt the quantity of material for coating as needed, or to share transport costs.
[0013] Some preferred but non-limiting aspects of this method are as follows.
[0014] The first predetermined range can be between 200 and 250°C.
[0015] The method may comprise a step of storing the first quantity of said aggregates at the first location, by at least one first thermally insulating container, this storage step being implemented before the first transport step implemented by the first transport means.
[0016] The method may comprise a step of storing the second quantity of aggregates at the second location, by at least one second thermally insulating container, this storage step being carried out before the mixing step.
[0017] The method may comprise a step of taking from the second quantity of aggregates in order to constitute the third quantity of aggregates used in the mixing step, then a step of conveying said third quantity of aggregates thus taken to the mixer, these two steps being implemented before the mixing step.
[0018] The method may comprise a step of supplying an initial quantity of binder in a given area of the second location, then a step of taking from the initial quantity of binder in order to constitute said given quantity of binder used in the mixing step, then a step of transferring said given quantity thus taken to the mixer, these three steps being implemented before the mixing step.
[0019] The method may comprise a step of storing, at the second location, the first quantity of coating material obtained in the mixing step, this storage step being carried out before the second transport step carried out by the second transport means.
[0020] According to one embodiment, during the first transport step the first means of transport use trucks having a first transport capacity, during the second transport step the second means of transport use trucks having a second transport capacity, the second capacity being strictly less than the first capacity.
[0021] The invention also relates to a system for delivering, to a given site, a quantity of a material for paving a pedestrian or vehicle traffic lane, said material for paving comprising a mixture of aggregates and a binder, this system comprising: a preparation unit, arranged at a first location, for preparing a first quantity of said aggregates having a temperature within a first predetermined range, first transport means for transporting all or part of the first prepared quantity, to a second location, in order to constitute, at the second location, a second quantity of aggregates having a temperature within the first predetermined range, a mixer located at the second location for mixing a third quantity of aggregates taken from the second quantity of aggregates and having a temperature within the first predetermined range, and a given quantity of said binder, in order to form a first quantity of coating material at the second location, second transport means for transporting all or part of the first quantity of coating material, in order to deliver, at the determined site,a second quantity of coating material having a temperature within a second predetermined range.
[0022] This system presents, for the same reasons, the same advantages as those presented in connection with the process previously described.
[0023] Some preferred but not limiting aspects of this system are as follows.
[0024] The first predetermined range can be between 200 and 250°C.
[0025] The system may comprise at least a first thermally insulating container for providing storage of the first quantity of said aggregates at the first location, maintaining the first quantity of aggregates at a temperature within the first predetermined range.
[0026] The system may include at least one second thermally insulating container for providing storage of the second quantity of aggregates at the second location, maintaining the second quantity of aggregates at a temperature within the first predetermined range.
[0027] The system may comprise a sampling unit for constituting the third quantity of aggregates used by the mixer by sampling from the second quantity of aggregates stored in the at least one second container, and a unit for conveying said third quantity of aggregates to the mixer.
[0028] The system may comprise a unit for supplying an initial quantity of binder to a given area of the second location, a sampling unit for constituting said given quantity of binder used by the mixer by sampling from the initial quantity of binder, and a unit for transferring said given quantity thus sampled to the mixer.

Fig. 2 ] There figure 2 is a block diagram schematically illustrating the different components of an example system according to the invention. Detailed description
[0032] On the figures 1 And 2and in the remainder of the description, the same references represent identical or similar elements. In addition, the different elements are not shown to scale so as to enhance the clarity of the figures. Furthermore, the different embodiments and variants are not mutually exclusive and may be combined with each other.
[0033] On the figure 1 , the different stages of an example of a method according to the invention are represented while the figure 2 shows the possible components and means for a system according to the invention. The method or system each has the purpose of delivering, to a given site S3, a quantity (this corresponding to the quantity identified Q7 later in this description) of a material for paving pedestrian or vehicle traffic lanes, this material for paving comprising a mixture of aggregates and a binder.
[0034] As regards the process and with reference to the figure 1 , it includes the following steps: a preparation step E1, carried out at a first location S1, of a first quantity Q1 of aggregates having a temperature included in a first predetermined range, a first transport step E3, carried out by first transport means 14, of all or part of the first quantity Q1 prepared, to a second location S2, in order to constitute, at the second location S2, a second quantity Q2 of aggregates having a temperature included in the first predetermined range, a mixing step E10, carried out by a mixer 22 located at the second location S2, between a third quantity Q3 of aggregates taken from the second quantity Q2 of aggregates and having a temperature included in the first predetermined range, and a given quantity of the aforementioned binder, in order to form a first quantity Q6 of material for coating at the second location S2, a second transport step E12,implementation by second transport means 32, of all or part of the first quantity Q6 of coating material, in order to deliver, to the determined site S3, a second quantity Q7 of coating material having a temperature included in a second predetermined range.
[0035] For this purpose, the 100 system of the figure 2 understand : a preparation unit 10, arranged at the first location S1, for preparing the first quantity Q1 of aggregates having a temperature within a first predetermined range, first transport means 14 for transporting all or part of the first quantity Q1 prepared, to a second location S2, in order to constitute, at the second location S2, a second quantity Q2 of aggregates having a temperature within the first predetermined range, a mixer 22 located at the second location S2 for mixing a third quantity Q3 of aggregates taken from the second quantity Q2 of aggregates and having a temperature within the first predetermined range, and a given quantity Q5 of the binder, in order to form a first quantity Q6 of coating material at the second location S2, second transport means 32 for transporting all or part of the first quantity Q6 of coating material, in order to deliver, at the determined site S3,a second quantity Q7 of coating material having a temperature within a second predetermined range.
[0036] The first predetermined range may be between 200 and 250°C. According to one embodiment, the second predetermined range is between 100 and 150°C. Under these conditions, it is possible to prepare and possibly store aggregates at a temperature between 200 and 250°C, ultimately making it possible to manufacture and deliver a hot mix coating material having a temperature between 100 and 150°C.
[0037] According to one embodiment, the method comprises a storage step E2 of the first quantity Q1 of aggregates at the first location S1, by at least one first thermally insulating container 12, this storage step E2 being implemented before the first transport step E3 implemented by the first transport means 14.
[0038] For this purpose, the 100 system of the figure 2 may comprise at least one first thermally insulating container 12 for ensuring storage of the first quantity Q1 of aggregates at the first location S1, while maintaining the first quantity Q1 of aggregates at a temperature within the first predetermined range.
[0039] These provisions advantageously make it possible to maintain the previously prepared aggregates at a temperature within the first predetermined range at the first location S1, in order to avoid variations in the temperature of the aggregates, which would be a source of financial and ecological losses and possible risks for the final material.
[0040] Optionally, the at least one first container 12 is configured to be heatable, i.e. to ensure heating of its contents.
[0041] By way of example, the at least one first container 12 may be a container as described in patent application FR3096974A1, although any other suitable solution may be envisaged.
[0042] In reference to the figure 1 , the method comprises, according to one embodiment, a storage step E4 of the second quantity Q2 of aggregates at the second location S2, by at least one second thermally insulating container 16, this storage step E4 being implemented before the mixing step E10.
[0043] For this purpose, the 100 system of the figure 2 may comprise at least one second thermally insulating container 16 for ensuring storage of the second quantity Q2 of aggregates at the second location S2, while maintaining the second quantity Q2 of aggregates at a temperature within the first predetermined range.
[0044] These arrangements advantageously make it possible to maintain the previously transported aggregates at a temperature within the first predetermined range at the second location S2, in order to avoid variations in the temperature of the aggregates, which would be a source of financial and ecological losses and possible risks for the final material.
[0045] Optionally, the at least one second container 16 is configured to be heatable, i.e. to ensure heating of its contents.
[0046] By way of example, the at least one second container 16 may be a container as described in patent application FR3096974A1, although any other suitable solution may be envisaged.
[0047] In reference to the figure 1, the method comprises, according to one embodiment, a step E5 of sampling from the second quantity Q2 of aggregates in order to constitute the third quantity Q3 of aggregates used in the mixing step E10, then a step E6 of conveying the third quantity Q3 of aggregates thus sampled to the mixer 22, these two steps E5, E6 being implemented before the mixing step E10.
[0048] For this purpose, the 100 system of the figure 2 may comprise a sampling unit 18 for constituting the third quantity Q3 of aggregates used by the mixer 22 by sampling from the second quantity Q2 of aggregates stored in the at least one second container 16, and a conveying unit 20 of the third quantity Q3 of aggregates to the mixer 22.
[0049] These provisions make it possible to take, as desired and in a precise manner and adapted to the need, only the exact quantity of aggregates required in order to obtain, at the end of the mixer 22, the exact quantity of coating material required to be transported by the second means of transport 32. This provides great flexibility, adaptation to the unique need, and limits economic and ecological losses.
[0050] Such sampling can for example be done by simple gravity via a suitable device from the at least one second container 16, which limits costs and is precise. Then the conveying can be done by any suitable means of translation (for example mobile trolleys or conveyor belts), flat or in an inclined direction, and / or by elevation via a load lift or equivalent, until discharge into the mixer 22 by simple gravity. This solution is simple, reliable, efficient and economical.
[0051] In reference to the figure 1 , the method comprises, according to one embodiment, a step E7 of supplying an initial quantity Q4 of binder in a given zone of the second location S2, then a step E8 of sampling from the initial quantity Q4 of binder in order to constitute the aforementioned given quantity Q5 of binder used in the mixing step E10, then a step E9 of transferring this given quantity Q5 thus sampled to the mixer 22, these three steps E7, E8, E9 being implemented before the mixing step E10.
[0052] For this purpose, the 100 system of the figure 2may comprise a supply unit 24 for supplying the initial quantity Q4 of binder to a given zone of the second location S2, a sampling unit 26 for constituting the given quantity Q5 of binder used by the mixer 22 by sampling from the initial quantity Q4 of binder, and a transfer unit 28 for transferring the given quantity Q5 thus sampled to the mixer 22.
[0053] These provisions make it possible to take, as desired and in a precise manner and adapted to the need, only the exact quantity of binder required in order to obtain, at the end of the mixer 22, the exact quantity of coating material required to be transported by the second means of transport 32. This provides great flexibility, adaptation to the unique need, and limits economic and ecological losses.
[0054] Such a supply unit 24 can be obtained by an area where trucks transporting large quantities of binder dump these quantities into this area, constituting the initial quantity Q4. The sampling can be done by any known means, in particular adapted to the nature of the binder, typically whether it is solid, liquid or viscous, for example by simple gravity phenomenon or by a pushing device. Then the transfer of the binder can be done by any suitable means of translation (for example mobile trolleys or conveyor belts), flat or in an inclined direction, and / or by elevation via a load lift or equivalent, until it is dumped into the mixer 22 by simple gravity. This solution is simple, reliable, efficient and economical.
[0055] In reference to the figure 1, the method comprises, according to one embodiment, a storage step E11, at the second location S2, of the first quantity Q6 of coating material obtained in the mixing step E10, this storage step E11 being implemented before the second transport step E12 implemented by the second transport means 32.
[0056] For this purpose, the 100 system of the figure 2 may comprise a storage unit 30 arranged at the second location S2, for temporarily storing the first quantity Q6 of coating material produced by the mixer 22.
[0057] These provisions make it possible to take, as desired and in a precise manner and adapted to the need, only the exact quantity of coating material actually taken, in order to then be transported to the determined site S3 via the second means of transport 32, from the quantity Q6 previously prepared by the mixer 22. This provides great flexibility, adaptation to the unique need, and limits economic and ecological losses.
[0058] According to a non-limiting embodiment, the storage unit 30 is configured to be thermally insulating and heating to ensure storage of the first quantity Q6 of coating material obtained in the mixing step E10, while maintaining it at a temperature within the second predetermined range.
[0059] These provisions advantageously make it possible to avoid temperature variations in the quantity Q6 of coating material prepared by the mixer 22, which would be a source of financial and ecological losses and possible risks for the material delivered to the site S3.
[0060] According to one embodiment, the storage unit 30 is positioned below the mixer 22 so that the storage unit 30 is supplied by the mixer 22 with coating material by simple gravity.
[0061] According to one embodiment, each truck of the second transport means 32 is supplied, from the storage unit 30, by gravity sampling where the coating material falls into a bucket of said truck. These arrangements make it possible to sample, as desired and in a precise manner and adapted to the need, only the exact quantity of coating material actually sampled from the storage unit 32, with a view to then being transported to the determined site S3 via the second transport means 32, from among the quantity Q6 previously prepared by the mixer 22. This provides great flexibility, adaptation to the unique need, and limits economic and ecological losses.
[0062] In reference to the figure 1, according to one embodiment, the method is such that during the first transport step E3 the first means of transport 14 use trucks having a first transport capacity, during the second transport step E12 the second means of transport 32 use trucks having a second transport capacity, the second capacity being strictly less than the first capacity.
[0063] For this purpose, in the system 100 of the figure 2 , the first means of transport comprise a plurality of trucks each having a first transport capacity, the second means of transport comprise a plurality of trucks each having a second transport capacity, the second capacity being strictly less than the first capacity.
[0064] These make it possible to consider preparing aggregates in very large quantities at the first location, and transporting them to the second location using very large capacity trucks to avoid the number of round trips. On the other hand, it is possible to use smaller capacity trucks to transport the coating material prepared by the mixer 22 in a manner adapted to the volume actually expected by the customer at the determined site S3. This makes it possible to limit economic and environmental losses, and to adapt the means used to the real local need.
[0065] For example, the dump trucks used in the first means of transport 14 may have a capacity of several tens of m 3< , typically between 30 and 40 m 3< , while the dump trucks used in the second means of transport 32 may have a capacity of 1 to several m 3< , typically between 1 and 5 m 3< . These provisions in no way prevent the dump trucks used in the second means of transport 32 from being able to have a capacity of several tens of m 3< , depending on the need at the determined site S3.
