AI Technical Summary
Conventional drywall panels face a trade-off between mechanical resistance and acoustic insulation, as the stiffness required for structural integrity limits the ability to effectively attenuate acoustic waves.
The proposed acoustic insulation wall system features a core with a network of mounting faces on either side, where each mounting face is fixedly mounted to one plate and free relative to the other, allowing for energy dissipation of acoustic waves while maintaining sufficient mechanical rigidity through strategic placement and distance between mounting faces.
This configuration enhances acoustic attenuation without compromising structural rigidity, particularly in the frequency range of 80 Hz to 5000 Hz, by allowing small amplitude movements of the plates to dissipate wave energy, thereby improving sound insulation compared to traditional systems.

Abstract
Description
Field of invention
[0001] The present invention relates to acoustic insulation wall systems and more particularly to drywall panels. State of the art
[0002] It is known to manufacture a drywall panel comprising a core and two facing plates, for example plaster, fixed on either side of the core. The core may be formed by a frame, for example a metal frame. The frame may include furring strips, studs, rails, angles and / or spacers. Each of these elements may be metallic.
[0003] In reference to the figure 1, it is known to manufacture a stud formed by a metal profile having a U-shaped section, that is to say having a first wall and a second wall connected by a base of the stud. Such a stud has a sufficiently high stiffness for the panel to have a mechanical resistance meeting the criteria imposed by the construction of buildings. However, this stiffness limits the acoustic insulation provided by the drywall panel. Indeed, a stud allows transmission of an acoustic wave between the two plates without decoupling of the wave. In addition, a reduction in the stiffness of the stud to increase the acoustic insulation does not allow meeting the rigidity criteria of the drywall panel imposed for the construction of the building. [0009] In reference to the figure 2 , to the figure 3 , to the figure 4 , to the Figure 5 , and to the figure 6 , one aspect of the invention is a soundproofing wall system 1. The soundproofing wall system 1 comprises a core 2 extending along a main plane 3. The system 1 also comprises a first facing plate 4 and a planar wall structure 5. The planar wall structure 5 may be selected from a wall and a second facing plate 5. In the case of a second facing plate 5, the system 1 forms a drywall panel.
[0010] The first facing plate 4 and / or the second facing plate 5 may be chosen from a plasterboard, a cement board, a wood board, a wood composite board (e.g. chipboard), a board formed from a plastic material and a board formed from a metallic material.
[0011] The planar wall structure 5 may be selected from a wall, a second facing board, for example a second plasterboard facing board, a floor, and a ceiling. In the case of a second facing board, the system 1 forms a drywall panel. The structure 5 may also be made of concrete.
[0012] The first plate 4 and the structure 5 are arranged on either side of the core 2 and each extend in a plane parallel to the main plane 3. The first plate 4 and the structure 5 are mounted fixed to the core 2.
[0013] The core 2 has a first face 6 of the core 2 and a second face 7 of the core 2 arranged on either side of the main plane 3. The first face 6 of the core 2 comprises a network 10 of mounting faces 8. Each mounting face 8 is adapted to be fixedly mounted on the first plate 4. The network 10 of mounting faces 8 is formed by a repetition of a pattern comprising a mounting face 8 fixedly mounted to the first plate 4 and a mounting face 8 adapted to abut against the first plate 4 and free relative to the first plate 4. Thus, during the propagation of an acoustic wave through the system 1 from the core 2 to the first plate 4, the acoustic wave can set in motion a part of the first plate 4 which is not fixedly mounted to a mounting face 8 and arranged opposite a mounting face 8.In this way, the energy of the acoustic wave is dissipated by a small amplitude movement of the first plate 4 opposite the mounting face 8 which is not fixedly mounted, while ensuring sufficient mechanical rigidity of the system. Indeed, when a stress is applied to the first plate 4 opposite the mounting face 8 which is not fixedly mounted, the first plate 4 can come into abutment with the mounting face 8 and thus ensure sufficient rigidity.
[0014] The first plate 4 may have a thickness greater than or equal to 5 mm, in particular greater than or equal to 8 mm and preferably between 10 mm and 15 mm. A distance separating two successive mounting faces 8 of the network 10 mounted fixed to the first plate 4 may be greater than or equal to 50 cm, in particular greater than or equal to 70 cm and preferably greater than or equal to 1 m. Thus, the first plate 4 has a bending rigidity sufficiently small to dissipate the energy coming from an acoustic wave originating from the core 2.
[0015] In reference to the figure 2 , to the figure 4 and to the Figure 5, the network 10 of mounting faces 8 may be formed by a repetition of a pattern formed by a mounting face 8 mounted fixed to the first plate 4 and by a mounting face 8 free relative to the first plate 4 and in abutment with the first plate 4. Thus, opposite the mounting face 8 in abutment with the first plate 4, the first plate 4 cannot flex in the direction of the web 2 and can flex in the direction opposite to the web 2. This makes it possible to ensure sufficient rigidity when a stress is applied to the first plate 4 in the direction of the web 2 while allowing the first plate 4 movement in a direction opposite to the web 2 so as to dissipate an acoustic wave.
[0016] Alternatively, with reference to the figure 3, the array 10 of mounting faces 8 may be formed by a repetition of a pattern formed by a mounting face 8 fixedly mounted to the first plate 4 and by a mounting face 8 free with respect to the first plate 4 and arranged at a distance of between 5 µm and 5 mm from the first plate 4. Thus, for small displacement amplitudes, the portion of the first plate 4 opposite the free mounting face 8 may be displaced both in the direction of the core 2 and in the direction away from the core 2, thereby dissipating the energy of an acoustic wave coming from the core 2 with higher efficiency than when only one direction of displacement is permitted.Furthermore, for a stress applied to the part of the first plate 4 opposite the free mounting face 8 and towards the core 2, the part of the first plate 4 opposite the free mounting face 8 is moved so as to come into abutment with the core 2, which makes it possible to give the system 1 sufficient rigidity. Acoustic insulation system comprising a core formed by a frame with studs
[0017] In reference to the figure 2 and to the figure 3 , the acoustic insulation wall system 1 may comprise a core 2 formed by a frame. The frame comprises uprights 9. The frame may comprise a plurality of uprights 9 each adapted to be arranged vertically. The uprights 9 may be spaced regularly. The figure 2illustrates a section of the system 1 along a horizontal plane. Each upright 9 comprises a wall forming a first mounting face 8. The first mounting face 8 forms a portion of the first face 6 of the core 2. Each upright 9 comprises another wall forming a second mounting face 8. The second mounting face 8 forms a portion of the second face 7 of the core 2. The array of mounting faces 8 of the first face 6 or the second face 7 may be a linear array formed by mounting faces 8 of several uprights 9. In known systems, all mounting faces are fixedly mounted to a facing plate or to the wall structure, most generally by screwing the facing plate or the structure to a mounting face of the upright. According to one aspect of the invention, at least one mounting face 8 is adapted to abut against the first plate 4 and is free relative to the first plate 4.Thus, when an incident acoustic wave propagating from the structure 5 to the first plate 4 passes through the system 1, the acoustic wave can set in motion a part of the first plate 4 which is not fixedly mounted to a mounting face 8 while being located opposite a mounting face 8. The . figure 2 illustrates a soundproofing wall system 1 in which a plurality of mounting faces 8 are free relative to the first plate 4 and are in abutment with the first plate 4. The figure 3 illustrates a soundproofing wall system 1 in which several mounting faces 8 are free relative to the first plate 4 and are arranged at a distance of between 5 µm and 5 mm from the first plate 4.
[0018] In reference to the figure 2 and to the figure 3, the planar wall structure 5 may be a second facing plate such that the system 1 forms a drywall panel. The first mounting face 8 may be fixedly mounted to the first plate 4. The second mounting face 8 may be adapted to abut the second plate. The second mounting face 8 may be free relative to the second plate. Thus, when an acoustic wave passes through the system 1 forming a drywall panel, if one of the facing plates is fixedly mounted to the stud and cannot move so as to dissipate the energy of an acoustic wave, the other facing plate does.
[0019] In reference to the figure 2 and to the figure 3, the core 2 may comprise a first upright and an upright adjacent to the first upright. The first mounting face 8 of the adjacent upright may be adapted to abut against the first plate 4 and while being free relative to the first plate 4. The second mounting face 8 of the adjacent upright may be fixedly mounted to the second facing plate. This configuration may be referred to as alternating mounting. With reference to the figure 4 , the acoustic attenuation of the system is increased for an alternating assembly compared to a known assembly, for frequencies of the incident acoustic wave between 80 Hz and 5000 Hz. Curve (a) illustrates the acoustic attenuation of a known system. Curve (b) illustrates the acoustic attenuation of a system 1 according to an aspect of the invention comprising an alternating assembly.
[0020] In reference to the Figure 5, a succession of first facing plates 4 can be fixedly mounted on the first face 6. In particular, a first facing plate 4 can be fixedly mounted to a mounting face 8 of an upright 9 at one of the vertical ends of the first plate and fixedly mounted to a mounting face 8 of another upright 9 at the other of the vertical ends of the first plate. In addition, it can cover a third upright 9. In a known manner, the first facing plate 4 is fixedly mounted to the third upright 9. According to one aspect of the invention, the first facing plate 4 can be adapted to abut the mounting faces 8 of the third upright 9 without being fixed thereto.
[0021] There figure 6illustrates the sound reduction of different systems. Curve (c) illustrates the sound reduction of a known system, in which the facing plates are mounted fixed to all the mounting faces of the different uprights constituting the core. Curve (d) and curve (e) illustrate the sound reduction of two systems corresponding to the embodiment of the invention illustrated by Figure 5 . Acoustic insulation system comprising a core formed by a part comprising a cellular material
[0022] In reference to the figure 7 and to the figure 8, the core 2 may be formed by a part comprising a cellular material. The cellular material may extend between the first face 6 of the core 2 and between the second face 7 of the core 2. Thus, it is possible to reduce the mass of the core 2 while maintaining sufficient rigidity properties and increasing the acoustic attenuation of the system 1. The mounting face 8 mounted fixed to the first plate 4 may be formed by a portion of the first face 6 of the core 2 made of cellular material bonded to the first plate 4. Thus, it is possible to form free mounting faces 8 by defining portions of the first face 6 or the second face 7 which are not bonded to a facing plate or to the structure 5. With reference to the figure 8, in the case of a drywall panel, the bonded portions may be defined alternately between the first face 6 and the second face 7. Thus, when an acoustic wave passes through the system 1 forming a drywall panel, if one of the facing plates cannot move so as to dissipate the energy of the acoustic wave, the other facing plate does.
[0023] In reference to the figure 9 , mounting faces 8 fixedly mounted to the first plate 4 may each form a strip extending from one edge to another of the first plate 4 so as to be horizontal when the system 1 is installed. Thus, the acoustic attenuation of the system 1 is increased for a frequency range between 300 Hz and 1250 Hz compared to known systems. With reference to the figure 10, mounting faces 8 fixedly mounted to the first plate 4 may also form strips, each extending from one edge to the other of the first plate 4 so as to be vertical when the system 1 is installed.
[0024] A total surface area of all the mounting faces 8 mounted fixed to the first plate 4 may be less than 85% of the total surface area of the first face 6 of the core 2, in particular less than 70% of the total surface area of the first face 6 of the core 2 and preferably less than 30% of the total surface area of the first face 6 of the core 2. Thus, the bending of the first plate 4 is encouraged, which makes it possible to dissipate the energy of an incident acoustic wave. This effect has been observed for all types of core 2, whether the core 2 is cellular or formed by a frame comprising uprights.
[0025] The network may be a two-dimensional network. A mounting face 8 fixedly mounted to the first plate 4 may be a face defined by a glue point. Thus, it is possible to minimize the ratio between the surface area of all the mounting faces 8 fixedly mounted to the first plate 4 and the total surface area of the first face 6 of the core 2. Acoustic insulation system comprising a core formed by point separators
[0026] The core 2 may be formed by a two-dimensional network of separators. Each separator extends between the first face 6 and the second face 7. Each separator comprises a mounting face 8 fixedly mounted to the first plate 4 and a mounting face 8 adapted to abut against the first plate 4 and free relative to the first plate 4.
[0027] The separator may comprise at least a first plate, a second plate, and a rod separating the first plate from the second plate. The first plate may have a generally planar shape, forming the first mounting face 8. The second plate may have a generally planar shape, forming the second mounting face 8. One of the two plates may be fixedly mounted to the first plate 4 or to the structure 5. The other of the two plates may be free with respect to the first plate 4 or the structure 5. Thus, it is possible to increase the acoustic attenuation of a system 1 in which the core 2 is formed by point separators.
