AI Technical Summary
Existing double-row rolling bearings rely on external forces for preload, limiting the inner ring's mobility and making it difficult to maintain consistent performance and extended service life, especially under varying conditions and temperature changes.
A double-row rolling bearing with a divided inner ring, where the inner ring is prestressed by a central element, allowing for continuous preload and axial mobility, which is achieved through the use of a spring or similar prestressing means, enabling variable bearing clearance and improved load distribution.
This solution ensures improved running properties and extended service life by maintaining a constant preload, effectively handling temperature variations and short-term high loads, while preventing overloading and maintaining inner ring mobility.

Abstract
Description
[0001] Title of the invention
[0002] Double-row rolling bearing
[0003] Description
[0004] Field of the invention
[0005] The invention relates to a double-row rolling bearing having a preloaded inner ring.
[0006] Background of the invention
[0007] DE 10 2019 104 395 A1 discloses a spherical roller bearing. The spherical roller bearing has an outer ring, an inner ring, and between the two bearing rings, two inclined rows of roller bodies guided in cages. The bearing has an axially split outer ring, which is divided into two spaced-apart bearing ring sections. To ensure the functionality of such a bearing in an X-arrangement, it is installed in a housing and the bearing outer rings are clamped to one another. This is achieved by applying a preload defined by the geometric boundary conditions during bearing installation. The preload influences the running characteristics and service life.
[0008] Furthermore, it is known from the prior art to preload, for example, double-row tapered roller bearings on the axially split outer rings, for example by the defined insertion of shims, as shown in CN201368122 Y. Object of the invention
[0009] The object of the present invention is to provide a further developed roller bearing which has improved running properties and a longer service life compared to the prior art.
[0010] Summary of the invention
[0011] To achieve the object of the invention, the double-row rolling bearing specified in claim 1 is proposed. Optional advantageous embodiments of the invention arise in whole or in part from the dependent claims.
[0012] The double-row rolling bearing according to the invention comprises a split inner ring, an outer ring, rolling elements, and at least one cage. The inner ring has at least one inner ring raceway, and the outer ring has at least one outer ring raceway. The rolling elements, which are designed as rolling element rollers, roll in two rows between the inner ring and outer ring and are arranged spaced apart from one another in the at least one cage. The bearing forms an X-arrangement. The inner ring is divided into two annular inner ring parts, and the two inner ring parts are preloaded against each other by a preloading means arranged between them.
[0013] If a double-row roller bearing is to be preloaded, this has so far only been done by an external force, i.e. by an axial force exerted by the outer ring during installation of the bearing. This is due to the fact that the bearing is pressed or shrunk onto the shaft during assembly, meaning that axial movement of the inner ring is no longer possible afterwards. In contrast, the outer ring can be clamped as desired during assembly in a housing. Contrary to this interpretation, however, the invention proposes dividing the inner ring into two annular inner ring parts and preloading them against each other with a central preload element. Thus, in the present case, contrary to the usual technical implementation, some mobility of the inner ring must remain after assembly.Surprisingly, it has been shown that this type of preloading of the inner ring parts ensures a continuous, i.e. constant, preload of the rolling bearing under a wide range of operating conditions, thus improving the running characteristics and service life.
[0014] The preload applied by the preloading device to the two annular inner ring components results in a variable bearing clearance, or operating clearance. This allows a consistent preload to be generated within the bearing, which ensures an ideal and continuous load zone even under temperature fluctuations. Furthermore, the proposed bearing can compensate for short-term high loads and thus counteract overloading.
[0015] The term "cage" refers to any cage design. The material from which the cage is made does not limit the invention. It is also conceivable for the cage to be constructed in one or more parts.
[0016] In principle, the invention is suitable for all rolling elements, i.e., roller-shaped rolling elements of any type. However, in a preferred embodiment, the bearing is designed as a spherical roller bearing, since the preload of the inner ring is particularly effective here.
[0017] In a further preferred embodiment, the preload element of the double-row rolling bearing is designed as one or more springs. Any type of spring is conceivable here, for example disc springs or wave springs. In this case, the preload is not generated via a solid body, but by means of a spring. The preload element preferably has a preload F(axial) between 0.0001 and 0.15 * static load rating Cor of the rolling bearing. It has been found that this range is particularly suitable for use as a preload element between two inner ring halves. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the preload element of the double-row rolling bearing has a preload F(axial) between 0.05 + / - 0.01 * static load rating Cor of the rolling bearing on the inner ring parts.
[0018] With increased axial load on a double-row rolling bearing used as a locating bearing, the axial forces can be transmitted via a shaft shoulder to the inner ring, via the resilient element, into the rollers, to the outer ring, or into the housing. In this case, the resilient element can be completely compressed, meaning that direct contact occurs between the inner ring part and the resilient element and the inner ring part. It is conceivable to design the resilient element so that, in the compressed state, it limits the minimum permissible travel between the inner ring halves. When using resilient elements that could be damaged or lose preload over time during complete compression, it is conceivable to limit the axial mobility of the two inner ring parts relative to each other by means of a shoulder on one of the inner ring parts. This can be achieved by one or more steps on one or both of the inner ring halves, or by a partially or completely circumferential step.
[0019] In a further preferred embodiment, the cage is constructed in several parts. This has the advantage that the two cage parts are movable relative to each other, thus preventing jamming in the event of different axial positions of the rolling element rows, caused by the possibility of movement of the two inner ring parts.
[0020] To further support this, the cage is preferably guided on the outer ring. The double-row rolling bearing can be mounted in a housing for use, with a shaft passing through it. It is also conceivable to construct the outer ring of the double-row rolling bearing in two parts to facilitate easy mounting. In this case, the outer ring can be adjusted to a predetermined position using one or more shims.
[0021] Further details, features, combinations of features, and effects based on the invention will become apparent from the following description of a preferred, exemplary embodiment of the invention and from the drawings. Herein:
[0022] Figure 1 shows an exemplary embodiment of a double-row rolling bearing according to the invention in a sectional view,
[0023] Figure 2 shows a further exemplary embodiment of a double-row rolling bearing according to the invention in a sectional view and
[0024] Figure 3 shows a bearing arrangement in section with a double-row rolling bearing according to the embodiment of Figure 1.
[0025] In the figure, identical or equivalent parts are provided with the same reference numerals.
[0026] Figure 1 shows a sectional view of an exemplary embodiment of a double-row rolling bearing 1 according to the invention with a rotational axis 2. The double-row rolling bearing 1 has a split inner ring 3, an outer ring 4, rolling elements 5, and a cage 6. The split inner ring 3 has an inner ring raceway 7 for each row of rolling elements, and the outer ring 4 has an outer ring raceway 8. The rolling elements 5, which are designed as rolling element rollers 9, are arranged spaced from one another in the cage 6 between the inner ring 3 and outer ring 4. The bearing is designed in an X-arrangement. The inner ring 4 is axially divided into two inner ring parts 10 and 11, the two inner ring parts 10 and 11 being preloaded against one another by a preloading means arranged between them. In the embodiment shown here, the rolling element rollers 9 of the double-row rolling bearing are designed as spherical rollers.Furthermore, the preload element is designed as a spring, although other elements are also conceivable.
[0027] Figure 2 shows a further embodiment in sectional view, wherein the mobility of the two inner ring parts in the axial direction relative to each other is limited by a shoulder 13 on one of the inner ring parts, in this case on the inner ring part 11.
[0028] Of course, the shoulder can also be provided on the other inner ring part 10 and have a different design.
[0029] Figure 3 shows a bearing assembly 19 in section with the proposed double-row rolling bearing in an exemplary embodiment following Figure 1. A shaft 14 passes through the double-row rolling bearing, and the outer ring 4 is mounted in a housing 20. In this exemplary embodiment, the outer ring of the double-row rolling bearing 1 is constructed in two parts. In this case, the outer ring 4, consisting of two outer ring parts 17 and 18, can be secured via a fastening element 16. One or more shim rings 15 can be used to adjust the preload force.
