AI Technical Summary
In microhybrid motor vehicles equipped with a 'Start & Stop' system, the power battery placed under the driver's seat is vulnerable to damage during side impacts due to chassis deformation, limiting its size and protection.
A vehicle seat assembly with inclined fixing profiles and a crosspiece that locally reinforces the chassis, allowing a larger battery to be accommodated by raising the crosspiece relative to the seat assembly, thereby enhancing protection and reducing deformation risks.
The solution effectively increases the size of the battery compartment under the seat while providing enhanced protection against side impacts by reinforcing the chassis, ensuring better safety and functionality in microhybrid vehicles.

Abstract
Description
Vehicle seat assembly with sliding mechanism and motor vehicle, particularly micro-hybrid, including such a vehicle seat assembly technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to a sliding vehicle seat assembly and to a motor vehicle, in particular a hybrid, more particularly a micro-hybrid, comprising such a vehicle seat assembly. Previous technique
[0002] A micro-hybrid vehicle is equipped with a "Start & Stop" system. This system automatically starts and stops the internal combustion engine when the vehicle is stationary. This saves fuel and reduces emissions of pollutants such as CO2 and other exhaust gases. It also reduces noise emitted by the vehicle during frequent stop-start driving in urban traffic.
[0003] A micro-hybrid vehicle thus includes, in addition to the internal combustion engine, an electric motor. The electric motor is powered by a battery. It is common practice to place the battery under the driver's seat. The battery is then attached to the vehicle's chassis. To minimize the risk of damage to the battery in the event of an impact, particularly a side impact, it is common practice to position the battery as close as possible to the longitudinal axis, the center line of the vehicle's chassis. In other words, the battery is placed under the driver's seat on the center console side, as opposed to the door side.
[0004] However, in the event of a significant side impact, the chassis can deform. This can then lead to damage to the battery.
[0005] Application FR-A-3 107 015, filed on behalf of the applicant, is known to include a vehicle seat assembly comprising a crossbar fixed to the fixed profiles of two slide mechanisms, each arranged on one side of the vehicle seat. The crossmember provides local chassis rigidity, further reducing the risk of damage to a battery located under the vehicle seat. However, in this application, the crossmember has a relatively flat shape, thus limiting the size of the battery that can be accommodated under the vehicle seat. Summary
[0006] This disclosure improves the situation.
[0007] To this end, a vehicle seating package is offered, comprising: - a vehicle seat with a seat cushion, the seat cushion comprising a seat frame, - a slide comprising two sliding mechanisms, each sliding mechanism comprising a movable profile, fixed to the seat frame, and a fixed profile, each movable profile being received to slide within an associated fixed profile, - a crossbar fixed to the fixed profiles of the slide mechanisms, preferably in the vicinity of a front end of the fixed profiles of the slide mechanisms, the crossbar being fixed to each fixed profile by means of a respective fixing profile, a first face of each fixing profile being fixed to a fixed profile, and a second face of each fixing profile being fixed to the crossbar, the first and second faces of each fixing profile being inclined relative to each other, preferably at an angle between 45° and 135°, the first and second faces of each fixing profile being, preferably still, substantially perpendicular.
[0008] Thus, the crossmember advantageously allows for local reinforcement of the vehicle chassis when equipped with the seat assembly. Furthermore, due to the shape of the mounting profiles, attached to the crossmember and the fixed profiles of the sliding mechanisms, it is possible to raise the crossmember relative to the surface on which the seat assembly is mounted, thereby allowing for a potentially larger battery to be installed beneath the seat assembly, particularly under the crossmember.
[0009] Preferably, the described vehicle seating device includes one or more of the following features, taken alone or in combination: - the fixing profile has a cross-section in “U”, in “V >> or in “L >>; - the crossbar is welded to each second side of the fixing profiles, each second side of the fixing profiles preferably including at least one through hole, preferably two through holes, for welding the crossbar to the second sides of the fixing profiles; - a tube is fixed between the two fixing profiles, specifically between the second sides of the two fixing profiles; - the tube has a circular cross-section; - the cross member comprises a first slat, generally in the shape of a "U", the web of which, at least, has a cross-section in a "U", and at least a second slat, generally in the shape of an "L" or a "U", received in a volume defined by the first slat and fixed to the first slat, in particular by welding; - the crossbar comprises a second slat and a third slat, the second slat preferably being generally L-shaped or U-shaped and the third slat preferably being generally U-shaped, the third slat being received in a volume defined by the first slat, the second slat being between the first and third slats; - the second slat comprises a first face with at least one longitudinal boss fixed to the web of the first slat, in particular by welding and at least a portion of the first face of the second slat, distinct from the at least one boss, substantially flat, the portion of the first face of the second slat substantially flat being distant from the web of the first slat, in a substantially vertical direction; - the third slat comprises a first section extending substantially parallel to the first section of the second slat, the first section of the third slat preferably comprising at least one boss received in the hollow defined by the at least one boss of the second slat; and - the core of the first slat extends at least partly above the upper end of the second section of the fixing profile.
[0010] According to another aspect, it describes a motor vehicle comprising a chassis defining at least one floor of a passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, and a vehicle seat assembly as described above, in all its combinations, the first sections of the fixing profiles being fixed, directly or indirectly, to the floor.
[0011] Each movable profile can be slid along an inclined direction relative to a local extension plane of the vehicle floor, located under the vehicle seat.
[0012] The first face of the second slat and the first face of the third slat, where applicable, may be inclined relative to the web of the first slat, preferably at an angle substantially equal to the angle of inclination of the direction of movement of the movable profiles relative to the local extension plane of the vehicle floor, located under the vehicle seat.
[0013] The motor vehicle can be a hybrid vehicle, in particular a micro-hybrid vehicle, the vehicle comprising a combustion engine, an electric motor and a battery to power the electric motor.
[0014] The chassis may define a housing receiving the battery, under the vehicle seat, in particular under the crossmember, the battery preferably extending above the lateral edges of the housing on which the sliding mechanisms are fixed.
[0015] According to yet another aspect, a method is described for fixing a seat assembly as described above, in all its combinations, in a motor vehicle comprising a chassis defining at least one floor of a passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, comprising the following successive steps: i) fixing together the cross member and the tube, where applicable, with the two fixing profiles, in particular by welding, the cross member being fixed to the second face of each fixing profile; ii) fixing the two fixing profiles to the motor vehicle chassis, in particular by welding, the first face of each fixing profile being fixed to the motor vehicle chassis; iii) fixing a fixed profile of the sliding mechanism to each fixing profile, in particular by welding, each fixed profile being fixed to the first face of a respective fixing profile; wherein, preferably, the seat frame is fixed to the movable profiles of the sliding mechanisms and moving profiles are received in the fixed profiles, before step iii). Brief description of the drawings
[0016] Other features, details, and advantages will become apparent upon reading the detailed description below and analyzing the attached drawings, on which:
[0017] Figure 1 schematically represents a side view of a vehicle seat;
[0018] Figure 2 schematically represents in perspective an exploded view of a seat assembly including the vehicle seat of Figure 1, fixed to the chassis of a motor vehicle.
[0019] Figure 3 is an exploded view of the reinforcement device implemented in the seat assembly illustrated in Figure 2.
[0020] Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view of the cross member of the reinforcement device illustrated in Figure 3. Description of the implementation methods
[0021] In the various figures, the same reference numerals designate identical or similar elements. For the sake of brevity, only the elements that are useful for understanding the described embodiment are shown in the figures and are described in detail below.
[0022] In the description that follows, when referring to absolute position qualifiers, such as the terms "front", "back", "top", "bottom", "left", "right", etc., or relative position qualifiers, such as the terms "above", "below", "superior", "inferior", etc., or to orientation qualifiers, such as "horizontal", "vertical", etc., reference is made, unless otherwise specified, to the orientation of the figures or of a seat in its normal position of use.
[0023] In particular, the longitudinal direction X refers to the longitudinal direction of the seat. The longitudinal direction of the seat is considered to be the same as the longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle in which the seat is mounted. This longitudinal direction X corresponds to the normal direction of travel of the vehicle. The longitudinal direction X is horizontal. The transverse direction Y of the seat thus corresponds to the transverse or lateral direction of the motor vehicle. This transverse direction is perpendicular to the normal direction of travel of the vehicle. The transverse direction Y is preferably horizontal. Finally, the vertical direction Z is a vertical direction of the seat, perpendicular to the longitudinal and transverse directions. The Z direction is purely vertical, without any longitudinal or transverse component.
[0024] Figure 1 schematically represents a vehicle seat 10, particularly a motor vehicle seat, mounted on a slide 12. The slide 12 has a sliding mechanism 28 on each side of the vehicle seat 10. Each sliding mechanism 28 comprises a movable profile 22 sliding within a fixed profile 30. It should be noted here that each movable profile 22 is mounted to move relative to an associated fixed profile 30, sliding along a direction Xi, inclined relative to the horizontal longitudinal direction X of the seat 10. In other words, the direction Xi includes a vertical component.
[0025] The vehicle seat 10 comprises a seat 14, with a seat frame 15, on which a backrest 16, with a backrest frame 17, is mounted, pivoting around an axis 18 by means of a joint mechanism 20. The vehicle seat 10 illustrated in Figure 1 also includes a headrest device 36.
[0026] The seat 14, in particular the seat frame 15, is mounted on the movable profiles 22, also called slides, male profiles, or sliding profiles, by means of feet 24, 26. Each movable profile 22 is associated with a fixed profile 30. The fixed profile 30 is also called a rail or female profile. The fixed profile 30 is attached to the floor 32 of the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle. The floor 32 is formed by the chassis of the motor vehicle.
[0027] The slide 12 can be electrically operated. In this case, an actuator (not shown in the figures) is provided to control the simultaneous movement of the movable profiles 22 relative to the fixed profiles 30. The actuator typically comprises an electric motor. The electric motor is located under the seat 14 of the vehicle seat 10. For example, the electric motor drives two output shafts in synchronized rotation. Each output shaft is equipped with a gear that meshes with teeth formed in a respective movable profile 22. Other embodiments of the actuator are known to those skilled in the art.
[0028] Each sliding mechanism 28 can also be equipped with a locking device to secure the movable profile 22 in position relative to the fixed profile 30. To move the movable profile 22 relative to the fixed profile 30, the locking device is first released. Such a locking device is well known to those skilled in the art and is therefore not described in further detail here.
[0029] The fixed profiles 30 and mobile profiles 22 of the sliding mechanisms 28 are, for example, metallic.
[0030] The vehicle seat 10 can in particular be fitted to a hybrid motor vehicle, especially a micro-hybrid motor vehicle. Such a motor vehicle comprises a combustion engine, an electric motor and a battery 42 for powering the electric motor.
[0031] A mild hybrid vehicle is equipped with a system that automatically shuts off and restarts the internal combustion engine when the vehicle comes to a stop. The alternator and starter of a conventional (non-hybrid) car are then replaced by a combined starter-generator or simply a reinforced starter, utilizing the battery. The battery is quite powerful; in particular, it can be a 48V battery. This battery is added to the vehicle, in addition to the traditional battery, which is usually located under the hood.
[0032] It should be noted that the electric motor of a micro-hybrid vehicle is not, a priori, designed to propel the vehicle and is therefore generally not used alone for this purpose. Thus, a micro-hybrid vehicle ideally does not include a drive mode that uses only the electric motor, with the internal combustion engine switched off or disengaged.
[0033] Alternatively, the motor vehicle is a hybrid motor vehicle with a drive mode that uses the electric motor alone, with the internal combustion engine switched off or disengaged.
[0034] A kinetic energy recovery system, particularly during braking, or regenerative braking system, can be associated with battery 42, to recharge it during braking phases of the motor vehicle.
[0035] Battery 42 can be used to power the electric motor. Alternatively, or in addition, battery 42 can be used to power auxiliary functions of the motor vehicle, that is, to power vehicle accessories other than the electric motor. In particular, battery 42 can provide electrical power to the vehicle's air conditioning system.
[0036] As can be seen in Figure 2, the battery 42 is located under the seat 14 of the vehicle seat 10. In particular, the battery 42 is located under the seat 14 of the driver's seat 10. To facilitate its installation, the floor 32 may have a recess forming a housing 44 for the battery 42. The bottom of the recess may be inclined relative to the edges of the recess forming the housing 44. Thus, for example, the bottom of the recess may be substantially horizontal, extending substantially in a plane (X, Y), while the edges of the recess extend substantially in a plane (Xi, Y), inclined relative to the horizontal. The battery 42 can protrude from the edges of the recess forming the housing 44. Thus, the upper surface of the battery 42 can be arranged vertically above the edges of the recess forming the housing 44.
[0037] Furthermore, for safety reasons, the battery 42 is positioned here in the vicinity of the longitudinal axis A, the median of the motor vehicle. In other words, the battery 42 is, as far as possible, moved away from the lateral edge of the vehicle to protect it in the event of an impact, particularly a side impact.
[0038] To further improve the protection of the battery 42 in the event of a side impact from the driver's side edge, a reinforcing cross member 46 is fixed between the two slide mechanisms 28. More specifically, the cross member 46 is attached to each fixed profile 30 of the slide mechanisms 28 by means of a fixing profile 48. Here, each fixing profile 48 has an L-shaped cross-section, with two longitudinal faces 50, 52, oriented perpendicularly. However, each fixing profile 48 can take other forms, as long as it has two faces inclined relative to each other. Preferably, the two faces inclined relative to each other are inclined at an angle between 45° and 135°, preferably between 60° and 120°. Thus, for example, each fixing profile 48 can have a V-shaped or U-shaped cross-section. However, a fixing profile 48 with an L-shaped cross-section seems preferable, which limits the weight of the profile while maximizing the vertical extension of one of the two faces, the vertical one.
[0039] In the illustrated example, a first panel 50 is oriented vertically, meaning it extends substantially in a plane (Xi, Zi). This first panel 50 is intended to be fixed to the cross member 46. To this end, the first panel 50 has two holes 54 for fixing the cross member 46 to the first panel 50, here by welding. The holes 54 are located near a front end 48a of each mounting profile 48 (that is, an end 48a of each mounting profile 48 intended to face the front of the motor vehicle). The first panel 50 of each mounting profile 48 has another opening 56, which receives a tube 58. The tube 58 is, for example, welded into each opening 56. The opening 56 is positioned behind the holes 54, in the normal direction of travel of the vehicle equipped with the seat. Tube 58, for example, is made of metal. Tube 58 here has a circular cross-section.
[0040] The second face 52 of each mounting profile 48 is oriented horizontally, i.e., it extends substantially in a plane (Xi, Y). The second face 52 of each mounting profile 48 is fixed to the fixed rail 30 of each sliding mechanism 28 and to the floor 32 of the vehicle passenger compartment, formed by the chassis of the motor vehicle. To this end, the second face 52 may have holes 60 for fixing by welding, using bolts and / or rivets to the fixed rail 30 and / or the floor 32. The fixed rails 30 may be fixed to the mounting profiles 48 before the vehicle seat assembly thus formed, including the seat 10, the sliding mechanisms 28, the fixing profiles 48, the cross member 46 and, here, the tube 58, is not fixed to the chassis of the motor vehicle.
[0041] Each fixing profile 48 can be made from sheet metal 1 to 5 mm thick, in particular 1 to 3 mm thick, especially 1.5 mm thick.
[0042] Cross member 46 provides local reinforcement to the vehicle chassis between the two fixed profiles 30 of the slide 12, where the battery 42 is located. This limits deformation of this part of the vehicle chassis, particularly in the event of a side impact. Tube 58 further reinforces the vehicle chassis locally near the battery 42. Tube 58 specifically helps to reduce the risk of shear deformation of the vehicle chassis.
[0043] To minimize bulk, the cross member 46 extends beneath the seat frame 15 and above the battery 42 and the floor 32 of the vehicle's passenger compartment. Specifically, the upper surface of the cross member 46 extends vertically above the upper edge of the first face 50 of the mounting profiles 48. The cross member 46 is positioned near the front end 30a of the fixed profiles 30 of the sliding mechanisms 28. Thus, the cross member 46 is positioned as close as possible to the battery 42. The tube 58 is located behind the cross member 46, in the normal direction of travel of the vehicle, for example, approximately in the center of the mounting profiles 48 and the fixed profiles 30.
[0044] In the following, we describe in more detail the cross member 46, with regard to figure 3 and figure 4.
[0045] As can be seen in Figure 3, the cross member 46 comprises three slats 62, 64, 66. Each slat 62, 64, 66 is, for example, made of sheet metal. Each slat 62, 64, 66 has, for example, a thickness between 1 and 5 mm, in particular a thickness of 3 mm.
[0046] The first slat 62, or wrap-around slat, has a general "U" shape with a central web 62i and, on each side of the central web 62i, a branch 622 oriented substantially perpendicular to the central web 62i. The first The batten 62, particularly the central web 62i, also has, in the illustrated example, a U-shaped cross-section. The first batten 62 thus has longitudinal edges 623, each extending in a plane (Y, Zi) inclined to the vertical, on either side of the central web 62i. The first batten 62 thus defines a hollow internal volume, here open vertically downwards. The central web 62i is substantially flat and extends in a plane (Xi, Y) inclined to the horizontal. The central web 62i extends vertically above the upper edge of the first face 50 of the fixing profiles 48.
[0047] The second slat 64 here has a general "L" shape with a first face 64i that is substantially horizontal and a second face 642 extending perpendicularly to the first face 64i, at one longitudinal end of the first face 64i. More precisely, the first face 64i has two longitudinal bosses 68, the upper faces of which extend in a plane (Xi, Y), so as to be in substantially planar contact with the central web 62i of the first slat 62. Holes 70, here oblong, are provided on the upper surface of the bosses 68, here to allow the second slat 64 to be fixed to the first slat 62, in particular by welding.
[0048] Between the two bosses 68, the first face 64i of the second slat 64 has at least one substantially flat portion extending horizontally, at a distance from the central core 62i of the first slat 62.
[0049] The second slat 64 also has longitudinal edges 643, one of which is longer than the other, so that the free ends of the two longitudinal edges 643 are included in the same horizontal plane (X, Y).
[0050] Of course, as an alternative, the second slat 64 can have a general "U" shape, with a central core and a folded edge at each longitudinal end of the central core.
[0051] The third slat 66 here has a general "U" shape with a central web 661 and, on each side of the central web 661, a branch 662 oriented substantially perpendicular to the central web 661. The central web 661 extends here in a plane (X, Y), therefore substantially parallel to the first face 64i of the second slat 64. The central web 661, however, includes, in The illustrated example, two longitudinal bosses 70, intended to be arranged opposite bosses 68 of the first face 64i of the second slat 64. As can be seen in figure 4, the web 661 of the third slat 66 is distant, along the vertical direction Z, from the first face 64i of the second slat 64.
[0052] Furthermore, the 661 core of the third slat 66 is received in the volume delimited by the 62i core of the first slat 62 and the longitudinal edges 62s of the first slat 62.
[0053] The third slat 66 can be fixed, in particular welded, to the first slat 62 at the lateral edges 622, 662 of these slats 62, 66.
[0054] The third slat 66 is here devoid of longitudinal edges, in particular the core 661 of the third slat 66 is devoid of such longitudinal edges.
[0055] The seating assembly consisting of the vehicle seat 10, the sliding mechanisms 28, the cross member 46, here the tube 58, and the fixing profiles 48, can be fixed to the chassis of a motor vehicle forming a floor 32, as described below.
[0056] First, the various slats 62, 64, and 66 are joined together, notably by welding. Then, the cross member 46 and, in this case, the tube 58, are joined together with the two fixing profiles 48. This joining can also be achieved by welding. As described previously, the cross member 46 is fixed to the first face 50 of each fixing profile 48.
[0057] Next, the two fixing profiles 48 are attached to the floor 32 of the motor vehicle, notably by welding. The second face 52 of each fixing profile 48 is here fixed to the floor 32 of the motor vehicle.
[0058] The fixed profiles 30 of the sliding mechanisms 28 are then fixed, each onto a respective fixing profile 48, notably by welding. Here, each fixed profile 30 is fixed to the second face 52 of a respective fixing profile 48.
[0059] Preferably, the seat frame 15 is fixed to the movable profiles 22 of the sliding mechanisms 28 before the fixed profiles 30 of the sliding mechanisms 28 are fixed to the fixing profiles 48. Alternatively, the movable profiles 22 of the mechanisms slide 28 are preferably received in the fixed profiles 30 of the slide mechanisms 28, before the fixed profiles 30 of the slide mechanisms 28 are fixed onto the fixing profiles 48.
[0060] The invention is not limited to the single example described and many variations are conceivable.
[0061] Thus, in the example described, the web 62i of the first slat 62 is inclined relative to the first face 64i of the second slat 64 and the web 661 of the third slat 66. This allows for an increased space under the cross member 46 to accommodate the battery 42, while the cross member 46 is fixed to mounting profiles 48 inclined relative to the bottom of the recess 44 receiving the battery 42, which is substantially parallelepiped in shape and essentially horizontal. Alternatively, however, the web 62i of the first slat 62, the first face 64i of the second slat 64, and the web 661 of the third slat 66 can be parallel, in particular horizontal.
[0062] Also, in the example described, cross member 46 has three overlapping slats. Alternatively, cross member 46 may have fewer than three slats, but the mechanical reinforcement is then less, or more than three slats, but cross member 46 may then become bulky.
[0063] In the example described, the central portions of slats 62, 64, and 66 each have at least one section separated from the other central portions of slats 62, 64, and 66. This provides greater mechanical reinforcement. However, alternatively, the central portions of slats 62, 64, and 66 can be in contact in pairs, across virtually all of their surfaces.
