Abstract
Description
State of the art
[0001] The present invention relates to a bag-shaped package (stand-up pouch / do-yo pack) formed by folding and gluing a paper or cardboard blank, having two side panels that are connected to one another in the region of a bottom edge of the respective side panel to form a bottom region. The two side panels each have two side edges via which they are directly connected to one another, the two side panels defining a closable bag opening in an opening region of the side panels opposite the bottom edge. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for mechanically filling such a bag-shaped package.
[0002] Pouch-shaped packaging is commonly used as sales packaging, which is filled with lumpy, liquid, or powdered goods, or smaller sub-packaged products, and offered to end consumers. Such packaging is typically made of film and is therefore also referred to as film pouches or film stand-up pouches.
[0003] Suitable packaging machines exist for the automatic filling of film pouches or film stand-up pouches. One such packaging machine is known, for example, as the Robert's IMP 1500 (Cloud Packaging Equipment). This packaging machine includes grippers that grip a film pouch from the side and then enlarge its opening by moving the grippers toward each other, thus pressing the film pouch open.
[0004] Given the often better recyclability of paper or cardboard packaging compared to film packaging, there is a need to fill goods in bag-shaped sales packaging made of paper or cardboard. However, existing packaging machines are not suitable for conventional paper or cardboard bags. In particular, it has been found that conventional paper or cardboard bags cannot be reliably opened in existing packaging machines. Disclosure of the invention
[0005] The object of the present invention is to enable the packaging of goods in bag-shaped packages made of paper or cardboard using packaging machines suitable for film bags.
[0006] To solve the problem, a bag-shaped packaging is proposed, which is formed by folding and gluing a paper or cardboard blank, with two side surfaces which are connected to one another in the region of a bottom edge of the respective side surface to form a bottom region, wherein the two side surfaces each have two side edges via which they are directly connected to one another, wherein the two side surfaces delimit a closable bag opening in an opening region of the side surfaces opposite the bottom edge, wherein the two side surfaces each have at least one embossed line which is embossed into the respective side surface, but along which the material of the paper or cardboard blank is not folded over.
[0007] The packaging according to the invention can be mechanically gripped at the side edges of the two side panels. By pressing the gripped side edges together, i.e., by moving the side edges toward each other, the material of the side panels can be bent. The embossed lines facilitate the bending of the material, so that where the embossed lines are located, the material can be bent more easily than in areas farther away from the embossed line(s). Bending allows the side panels to move away from each other in their respective opening areas. Thus, the embossed lines make it possible to reliably enlarge the bag opening by mechanically compressing the bag.In particular, the embossed lines reduce the risk of one of the two side surfaces becoming plane-parallel to the other when pressed together, or of creases forming that impair the appearance of the packaging, thus closing the bag opening instead of opening it further. After enlarging the bag opening, the packaging can be filled and then sealed by machine. In this respect, the bag-shaped packaging made of paper or cardboard according to the invention enables goods to be packaged using a packaging machine suitable for film bags.
[0008] Preferably, the embossed lines are embossed into the respective side surface in such a way that an indentation is formed on the outside of the packaging and / or a raised area is formed on the inside of the packaging. Such embossed lines can further assist in enlarging the bag opening when the side edges are pressed together.
[0009] Preferably, the two side surfaces each have at least two embossed lines which are embossed into the respective side surface, but along which the material of the paper or cardboard blank is not folded.
[0010] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the at least two embossed lines of a side surface are arranged transversely to each other. Such a non-parallel arrangement of the embossed lines allows the embossed lines to form opposing regions in which the material can be bent more easily than in other regions. This makes it possible to promote a convex curvature of the side surface when the side edges are pressed together, which is different in the base region than in the opening region.
[0011] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the distance between the at least two embossed lines of a side surface increases from the bottom region toward the bag opening. This can promote a convex curvature of the side surface when the side edges are pressed together, which is smaller in the bottom region than in the opening region. Such an embodiment has proven particularly advantageous when the two side surfaces of the bag-shaped packaging are relatively strongly coupled in the bottom region—for example, when the two side surfaces are connected directly to one another via their bottom edges.
[0012] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the distance between the at least two embossed lines of a side surface decreases from the base region toward the bag opening. This can promote a convex curvature of the side surface when the side edges are pressed together, which is greater in the base region than in the opening region. Such an embodiment has proven particularly advantageous when the two side surfaces of the bag-shaped packaging are relatively weakly coupled in the base region—for example, when the two side surfaces are indirectly connected to one another via a base surface.
[0013] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the at least two embossed lines are arranged in two groups, wherein the embossed lines of one group are arranged parallel. In this respect, the side surfaces each comprise at least four embossed lines which are embossed into the respective side surface, along which the material of the paper or cardboard blank is not folded. At least two of the embossed lines are arranged parallel to one another and thus form one of the aforementioned groups. The groups make it possible to expand the more easily bendable region of the side surface in a direction perpendicular to the direction of extension of the embossed lines. In this respect, it is possible to form larger regions of the side surfaces in which the material can be bent more easily.
[0014] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the embossed lines of a group are of different lengths. Providing embossed lines of different lengths within the same group increases flexibility in adjusting the easily bendable area of the side surface. Preferably, the embossed lines of a group are arranged such that they are at an identical distance from the bottom edge and at different distances from the bag opening or opening area.
[0015] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the two side surfaces are connected to each other in the region of the bottom edge directly via the bottom edge of the respective side surface. Such a design allows for a bag-shaped package with a smaller volume.
[0016] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the two side surfaces are indirectly connected to one another via a base surface which extends between the base edges of the two side surfaces. With such a configuration, the volume of the packaging can be increased in the base region, so that a bag-shaped packaging with an overall larger volume can be obtained. It is possible for the bag-shaped packaging to be designed in the manner of a stand-up pouch. For example, the base surface can form a base for the packaging on which the packaging can stand. Alternatively, it is possible for feet to be provided in the base region of the side surfaces, on which feet the packaging can stand. The feet can, for example, be designed as projections on the side surfaces in the base region.
[0017] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the two side surfaces in the opening region each have a connecting surface for irreversibly connecting the two side surfaces, in particular by gluing or sealing, so that the bag-shaped packaging can be closed via the bag opening after filling. The packaging can be closed via the connecting surfaces after filling to form a ready-to-sell sales packaging. By closing, unwanted falling out or unwanted removal of goods from the sales packaging can be prevented. The connecting surface is preferably arranged on an upper edge of the respective side surface so that the side surfaces can be connected by the connecting surfaces at their upper edge. The bag opening is thereby closed.
[0018] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, at least one of the two side surfaces in the opening region comprises an opening aid, in particular a perforation strip or a tear-off thread, via which the sealed packaging can be opened. Using the opening aid, a user of the sales packaging, in particular after purchasing the sales packaging with the goods contained therein, can open the sales packaging in order to remove the goods contained therein. The opening aid is preferably arranged between the respective connecting surface of the side surface and the base region, such that the interior of the bag-shaped packaging can be made accessible without breaking the connection between the connecting surfaces. The opening aid preferably extends from a first side edge of the side surface to a second side edge of the side surface opposite the first side edge.Preferably, only one of the two side surfaces has an opening aid, so that after the opening aid is opened, the connected connecting areas remain connected to one of the side surfaces that does not have the opening aid. This can prevent small-sized waste and / or enable reversible reclosure of the packaging.
[0019] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the two side surfaces each have means for irreversibly connecting the two side surfaces. These means preferably comprise a tab and a recess in one side surface into which the tab can be inserted. The tab is preferably arranged in the connecting region in which the two side surfaces are irreversibly connected to one another. After the packaging has been opened using the opening aid, the region comprising the tab can be folded over in the direction of the recess and the tab can be inserted into the recess. The recess can be round, oval, or slit-shaped. The recess is preferably provided on the side surface which has the opening aid. This offers the advantage that the tab can remain connected to the other side surface which does not have an opening aid.The packaging can then be closed reversibly by folding the other side with the tab.
[0020] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the two side surfaces in the opening area each have a recess for hanging the packaging, in particular a Euro hole according to DIN EN 13010.
[0021] The material of the paper or cardboard blank can be made from a fiber-containing cardboard quality with any grammage. According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the material of the paper or cardboard blank has a grammage in the range from 200 g / m² to 300 g / m², preferably in the range from 220 g / m² to 260 g / m², in particular in the range from 220 g / m² to 240 g / m² or in the range from 240 g / m² to 260 g / m². The material of the paper or cardboard blank can be designed as a GZ or GT material. The material preferably comprises a coating arranged on the outside of the packaging, for example a protective varnish. A blister varnish can be provided on the inside, at least in places, preferably on the connecting surface of the two side surfaces. The blister lacquer can have sealing properties so that the connecting surfaces can be sealed together.
[0022] Another object of the invention is a method for mechanically filling a bag-shaped packaging according to one of the preceding claims, with the following method steps: Gripping the bag-shaped packaging at the side edges of the two side surfaces; pressing the gripped side edges together so that the bag opening enlarges, optionally pressurizing the bag opening with compressed gas, in particular compressed air, so that the enlargement of the bag opening is supported, filling the bag-shaped packaging.
[0023] The method according to the invention makes it possible to pack goods in bag-shaped packages made of paper or cardboard using a packaging machine suitable for film bags.
[0024] An advantageous embodiment of the invention provides the following process step following filling: - Closing the bag-shaped packaging in the opening area, in particular by connecting the two side surfaces together.
[0025] The joining can be achieved by gluing or sealing, particularly heat sealing. The bag-shaped packages filled and sealed according to the invention can be used as sales packaging for piece goods, for example, laundry fragrance pods, laundry fragrance tablets, or the like.

[0028] In the various figures, identical parts are always provided with the same reference symbols and are therefore usually named or mentioned only once.
[0029] The Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of a bag-shaped packaging 1 according to the invention, which is formed by folding and gluing a paper or cardboard blank 100. The material of the paper or cardboard blank 100 preferably has a grammage in the range from 200 g / m 2< to 300 g / m 2<, for example in the range from 220 g / m 2< to 260 g / m 2<, in particular in the range from 220 g / m 2< to 240 g / m 2< or in the range from 240 g / m 2< to 260 g / m 2<.
[0030] The packaging 1 has two side panels 2, which are connected to one another in the region of a bottom edge 3 of the respective side panel 2 and thereby form a bottom region 30 of the packaging. The two side panels 2 each have two side edges 4, via which they are directly connected to one another. In an opening region 50 of the side panels 2 opposite the bottom edge 3, these define a closable bag opening 5, which can be used to fill the packaging 1 with goods to be packaged. From the outer sides of the two side panels 2, Fig. 1 For perspective reasons, only one is visible. However, from the second side surface 2, the inside can be seen in Fig. 1 through the bag opening 5.
[0031] To facilitate the mechanical filling of the packaging 1, in particular the enlargement of the bag opening for filling, special measures have been taken for the packaging 1. The two side surfaces 2 each have two embossed lines 6, which are embossed into the respective side surface 2, along which the material of the paper or cardboard blank 100 is not folded. The embossed lines 6 of a side surface 2 are arranged transversely to one another and such that the distance A between the two embossed lines 6 increases from the base region 30 to the bag opening 5.
[0032] Furthermore, the two side surfaces 2 in the opening region 50 each comprise a connecting surface 7 for irreversibly connecting, in particular by gluing or sealing, the two side surfaces 2. The bag-shaped packaging 1 can be closed after filling by connecting these connecting surfaces 7.
[0033] Fig. 2shows the packaging 1 according to Fig. 1 during the expansion of the bag opening 5. For this purpose, the side edges 4 of the packaging 1 can be mechanically gripped and then moved towards each other, as shown by the large arrows in Fig. 2 is indicated. The opening area of the bag opening 5 increases, as shown by the thin double arrow. The packaging machine used for this purpose can have grippers that grip the side edges 4 and press them towards each other. Optionally, during the pressing, a gas flow, in particular an air flow, can be directed towards the bag opening 5 (in Fig. 2 This can assist in opening the bag opening. Such grippers and gas flows are common in packaging machines designed for filling film bags. Therefore, the bag-shaped packaging 1 according to the invention makes it possible to use such film bag packaging machines.
[0034] When the gripped side edges 4 are pressed together, the material of the side surfaces 2 can be bent. The embossed lines 6 facilitate the bending of the material, so that where the embossed lines 6 are located, the material can be bent more easily than in areas farther away from the embossed lines 6. After enlarging the bag opening 5, the package 1 can be filled mechanically.
[0035] Finally, the package is sealed mechanically to obtain a sealed package 1 as shown in Fig. 3 For this purpose, a blister or sealing lacquer can be applied to the inside of the connecting areas, which is heated in a sealing device of the packaging machine so that the side surfaces 4 are connected in the connecting area 7.
[0036] As the representations in Fig. 1 to 3As shown further, one of the two side panels 2 comprises an opening aid 8, for example a perforation strip or a tear-off thread, in the opening region 50. By means of this opening aid 8, the sealed package 1, i.e., when the connecting areas 7 of the side panels 4 are connected, can be opened.
[0037] Based on the illustration in Fig. 4 The following describes a method for mechanically filling a Fig. 1-3 shown bag-shaped packaging 1 will be described. First, in a provision step 201, a bag-shaped packaging 1 is provided, the bag opening 5 of which is not closed, cf. Fig. 1. The packaging 1 can be conveyed by a conveyor device of a packaging machine. In a subsequent step 202, the bag-shaped packaging 1 is gripped at the side edges 4 of the two side surfaces 2, for example by grippers of the packaging machine. In a further subsequent step 203, the gripped side edges 4 are pressed together, i.e. moved towards one another, so that the bag opening 5 is enlarged. Optionally, either during the compression or afterwards in a further step 204, the bag opening 5 can be pressurized with compressed gas, in particular with compressed air, so that the enlargement of the bag opening 5 is supported. After the bag opening 5 has been enlarged, a step 205 follows in which the bag-shaped packaging 1 is filled with goods through the bag opening 5.Thereafter, the bag-shaped packaging 1 is closed in a closing step 206 in the opening region 50, in particular by connecting the two side surfaces 2 to one another.
[0038] The representations in Fig. 5 to 9show different blanks 100 made of paper or cardboard that can be used to provide a bag-shaped package according to the invention. These blanks 100 all have in common that the bag-shaped package 1 is formed by folding and gluing the respective paper or cardboard blank 100.By folding and gluing, a packaging 1 is obtained in each case which has two side surfaces 2 which are connected to one another in the region of a bottom edge 3 of the respective side surface 2 to form a bottom region 30, wherein the two side surfaces 2 each have two side edges 4 via which they are directly connected to one another, wherein the two side surfaces 2 delimit a closable bag opening 5 in an opening region 50 of the side surfaces opposite the bottom edge 3, wherein the two side surfaces 2 each have at least two embossed lines 6 which are embossed into the respective side surface 2, along which the material of the paper or cardboard blank 100 is not folded over. These features of the packaging 1 obtained in this way are shown in . Fig. 5 to 9 marked 100 on the respective cuts.
[0039] With the cut 100 according to Fig. 5A bag-shaped package can be obtained whose two side surfaces 2 are connected to one another in the region of the bottom edge 3 directly above the bottom edge 3 of the respective side surface 2. To prepare the package 1, adhesive surfaces 101 provided laterally on a side surface 2 are glued together. Furthermore, the two side surfaces 2 each have a recess 53 in the opening area 50 for hanging the package 1, here a Euro hole according to DIN EN 13010.
[0040] In the Fig. 6 and 8 In the blanks 100 shown, more than two embossed lines 6 are arranged on each of the two side surfaces 4. The embossed lines 6 are arranged in two groups. The embossed lines 6 of a group are arranged parallel and of different lengths.
[0041] In the Fig. 7 and 8In the blanks 100 shown, the distance A between the at least two embossed lines 6 of a side surface 2 decreases starting from the bottom area 30 towards the bag opening 5.
[0042] From the Fig. 6 to 9 The blanks 100 shown produce packages in which the two side surfaces 2 are indirectly connected to one another via a bottom surface 31 that extends between the bottom edges 3 of the two side surfaces 2. Furthermore, the two side surfaces 2 each comprise means for irreversibly connecting the two side surfaces 2, which are designed here as a tab 51 and a recess 52. List of reference symbols
