Description

[0001] SUBSTANCE TREATMENT DEVICE

[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD

[0003] The present invention relates to a substance treatment device for treatment of a substance.

[0004] BACKGROUND

[0005] Treatment of a substance, such as a gaseous substance, for example biogas, requires a substance treatment operation utilizing some kind of substance treatment device. In order for biogas to be used as e.g. gas for driving vehicles, treatment of the raw biogas is required in order to purify the gas by upgrading so that e.g. CO2 and also other substances are separated. Certain conventional techniques for large scale operation exist, such as water scrubber, chemical scrubber, membrane and PSA. Such techniques are however expensive.

[0006] Utilization of technique associated with ash bed (ash filter) may facilitates more cost-efficient purification of biogas. Ash is placed in a container which is sealed. Here the ash bed is essentially fixedly arranged within the container. Untreated gas is then guided through the ash filter within the container, wherein chemical reactions occur so that e.g. CO2 and H2S are tied to the ash filter. Such a solution with the filter fixedly arranged within a non-moving container results in the filter media becoming more compact over time, decreasing the contact surface towards the gas.

[0007] Such a problem may be overcome with a substance treatment device where the container is rotated so that the filter media within the container rotates, reducing the risk of the filter becoming more compact over time. FR2982175 discloses device for purifying gas with a rotating container. There is however a need for providing a substance treatment device which facilitates safe and efficient operation when a gaseous substance is introduced into and brought into contact with the medium housed in the rotating container.

[0008] OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

[0009] An object of the present invention is to provide a substance treatment device for treatment of a substance which facilitates safe and efficient operation.

[0010] SUMMARY

[0011] This and other objects, apparent from the following description, are achieved by substance treatment device for treatment of a substance as set out in the appended independent claim. Preferred embodiments of the substance treatment device are defined in appended dependent claims.

[0012] Specifically, an object of the invention is achieved by a substance treatment device for treatment of a substance. Said substance treatment device comprises a gas sealable container, said container being arranged to house a solid particulate substance. Said substance treatment device further comprises at least one gas inlet arrangement configured to be arranged in connection to said container for introducing a gaseous substance into said container, and at least one gas outlet arrangement configured to be arranged in connection to said container for escaping said introduced gaseous substance from said container. Said container is rotatably arranged about a rotation axis so as to rotate said solid particulate substance within said container in connection to a substance treatment operation. Said at least one gas inlet arrangement and at least one gas outlet arrangement are fixedly connected to said container so as to facilitate provision of gas sealing of said container in connection to said at least one gas inlet arrangement and at least one gas outlet arrangement during a substance treatment operation. Thus, said at least one gas inlet arrangement and said at least one gas outlet arrangement are fixedly connected to said container so that they rotate with the container during a substance treatment operation. The respective inlet arrangement of said at least one inlet arrangement comprises a gas inlet opening or is fixedly connected to a gas inlet opening of said container. A gas inlet arrangement may comprise a hollow ring-shaped member configured to be fixedly attached to said container so as to provide said fixedly connected inlet arrangement.

[0013] The respective outlet arrangement of said at least one outlet arrangement comprises a gas outlet opening or is fixedly connected to a gas outlet opening of said container. A gas outlet arrangement may comprise a hollow ring- shaped member configured to be fixedly attached to said container so as to provide said fixedly connected outlet arrangement.

[0014] The fixed connection to said container of a gas inlet arrangement and gas outlet arrangement may be provided in any suitable way for obtaining gas sealing, where said fixed connection e.g. may be by means of welding or the like. A gas inlet arrangement and / or gas outlet arrangement may according to an aspect be an integrated portion of said container. Said substance treatment operation of said substance treatment device may be associated with treatment, comprising purification, upgrading and / or polishing, of said gaseous substance by means of said solid particulate substance, and / or treatment, comprising purification, stabilisation and / or augmentation, of said solid particulate substance by means of said gaseous substance.

[0015] Said at least one gas inlet arrangement is configured, during a substance treatment operation, to be operably connected to a first gas transportation member for transporting gaseous substance into said container via said at least one gas inlet arrangement, said at least one gas inlet arrangement being configured so that fixed and gas leak tight attachment of said first gas transportation member to said at least one gas inlet arrangement is facilitated so as to obtain provision of gas sealing in connection to said at least one gas inlet arrangement. Said, to said container fixedly connected, at least one gas inlet arrangement is thus configured to allow fixed and gas sealed connection of such a gas transportation member to said at least one gas inlet arrangement.

[0016] Said at least one gas outlet arrangement is configured, during a substance treatment operation, to be operably connected to a second gas transportation member for transporting gaseous substance out of said container via said at least one gas outlet arrangement, said at least one gas outlet arrangement being configured so that fixed and gas leak tight attachment of said second gas transportation member to said at least one gas outlet arrangement is facilitated so as to obtain provision of gas sealing in connection to said at least one gas outlet arrangement. Said, to said container fixedly connected, at least one gas outlet arrangement is thus configured to allow fixed and gas sealed connection of such a gas transportation member to said at least one gas outlet arrangement.

[0017] By thus providing a substance treatment device having fixedly connected gas inlet arrangement and gas outlet arrangement, a safe substance treatment arrangement may be provided in that the risk of leakage of gas is substantially reduced compared to e.g. a solution where said gas inlet arrangement and gas outlet arrangement are journaled in bearings to said container. Gas inlet arrangement and gas outlet arrangement thus fixedly connected to the container provides efficient gas sealing so that gas leakage in connection to said gas inlet arrangement and gas outlet arrangement may be avoided during substance treatment operation when a gaseous substance is introduced into and escaped from said rotating container. Gas inlet arrangement and gas outlet arrangement thus fixedly connected to the container facilitates gas tight guiding of gaseous substance having a relatively high pressure into said container via gas inlet arrangement, and out from said container via gas outlet arrangement without the risk of gas leakage in connection to said at least one gas inlet arrangement and at least one gas outlet arrangement. By thus providing a substance treatment device with gas inlet arrangement and gas outlet arrangement thus fixedly connected to said container so as to facilitate provision of gas sealing of said container in connection to said at least one gas inlet arrangement and at least one gas outlet arrangement during a substance treatment operation, the need for maintenance is reduced and hence the possibility of longer operation time is facilitated in that said gas inlet arrangement and gas outlet arrangement are not journaled in bearings causing wear / leakage and requiring maintenance / replacement / repair. Hereby increased longevity of said substance treatment device is facilitated.

[0018] According to an aspect of the present disclosure, said substance treatment device comprises or is operably connectable to a gas pressure device for providing a pressure difference between said at least one gas inlet arrangement and said at least one gas outlet arrangement so that said gaseous substance, when introduced into said at least one gas inlet arrangement, is distributed within said container in connection to said solid particulate substance and is allowed to escape via said at least one gas outlet arrangement. Such a gas pressure device may be configured to regulate the pressure of said gaseous substance in connection to a substance treatment operation. By providing such a gas pressure device, efficient guiding of gaseous substance from gas inlet arrangement to gas outlet arrangement is facilitated.

[0019] According to an aspect of the substance treatment device, said substance treatment device further comprises a gas guiding configuration for guiding and distributing said introduced gaseous substance within said container so that said gaseous substance is brought into contact with said solid particulate substance for substance treatment and thereafter is allowed to escape through said at least one gas outlet arrangement.
