Description

[0001] Watercolour brush, that comprises a handle, a bundle of brush hairs and a ferrule which connects an end of the handle with the upper part of the bundle of brush hairs, characterized in that the ferrule comprises at least one through hole, which connects the upper part of the bundle of brush hairs with the exterior.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Different watercolour brushes are known in the state of the art.

[0003] So, it belongs to the state of the art the Spanish Utility Model N° 9502132 (ES1031836), in the name of MB ESPAÑA, S.A., of the year 1995, which refers to a self-rechargeable children's brush intended to be used by young children in the practice of drawing or painting by means of a brush capable of becoming impregnated with watercolour and wherein the water needed for the impregnation is provided by the brush itself by self-recharging itself. Essentially, the brush is characterised in that it is formed by a body that resembles a thick pen whose casing is made up by two coupled parts capable of moving axially and telescopically; inside the body formed by these two parts bellows are formed which provides a means for storing a certain amount of water prior to compressing the bellows, and the corresponding recovery thereof; characterised in that one of the parts, referred to as the outer part of the two parts forming the brush casing is provided with two lateral windows and longitudinal walls in which the corresponding lugs are guided; said lugs belong to the part referred to as the inner part of the two part forming the brush casing.

[0004] Also known is Spanish Utility model n° 39916 (ES0039916), of the year 1954 in the name of Antonio NOGUÉ ALONSO, which refers to a brush pen characterised in that it consists of a tracer element suitable for watercolour painting or similar, using colours soluble in water or other liquids, wherein the body of the pencil is a flexible or non-flexible receptacle that contains the colouring material, advantageously in the form of a tablet, and the dissolving liquid, this receptacle or reservoir is closed by means of a cap with a pointed shape or other suitable shape, which is axially perforated and has a core that is a thin sponge or similar through which, by capillarity, the coloured comes out and reaches the tip of said sponge, which adequately protrudes from the cap body.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The present invention relates to the field of watercolour brushes.

[0006] The closest document is the Spanish Utility Model No. 9502132 (ES1031836). Said Utility Model solves the problem of supplying the necessary quantity of water by means of windows or holes through which some portions of the internal bellows slightly protrude and allow, when pressing said portions, that the brush is loaded with the amount of water required.

[0007] However, this device is inconvenient in that the very complicated mechanical structure causes the artist to lose control of the brush. The artist does not get the feeling that she or he is working with a watercolour brush.

[0008] The invention hereof solves the problem of increasing the water loaded in the brush hairs by means of a simple mechanical solution, namely by means of through holes being formed on the ferrule, which connect the outer part of the brush with the upper part of the hairs, which is usually covered by the ferrule.

[0009] Thus, when the brush is sunk in the water, covering the ferrule, the water penetrates through the through holes into the inner part of the ferrule where the upper part of the bundle of brush hairs is positioned; the hairs absorb the water and increase the load of water in the hairs by up to a 50%, according to the type of hair used.

[0010] It is an object of this invention is a watercolour brush, that comprises a handle, a bundle of brush hairs and a ferrule which connects an end of the handle with the upper part of the bundle of brush hairs, characterized in that the ferrule comprises at least one through hole, which connects the upper part of the bundle of the brush hairs with the exterior.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0011] In order to facilitate the explanation, attached to this Description is a sheet of drawings representing a practical embodiment, which is provided by way of an example, which shall not in any manner limit the scope of the present invention: FIGURE 1, the only figure, is a partial view of a brush that is the object of the invention, which shows the bundle of brush hairs, the ferrule and partially, the handle. SPECIFIC EMBODIMENT OF THE PRESENT INVENTION

[0012] Figure 1 illustrates a handle 1, a bundle of brush hairs 2 with its tip 8, an upper part 4 of the bundle of brush hairs, a ferrule 3, through holes 5, a line of holes 6, a line of holes 7 immediately following the line of holes 6 and the last line of holes 9.

[0013] Thus, the brush of the present invention comprises a handle 1, a bundle of brush hairs 2 and a ferrule 3 that connects one of the ends of the handle 1 with the upper part 4 of the bundle of brush hairs 2, as shown in Figure 1.

[0014] Said brush is characterised in that the ferrule 3 comprises at least one through hole 5, said through hole 5 connecting the upper part 4 of the bundle of brush hairs 2 with the exterior, thus leaving a part of said upper part 4 visible, which can be observed through the through hole 5. In this manner, when the brush is loaded with water, the water will penetrate to the upper part 4 through the through hole 5, thus increasing the water loaded through the hairs that absorb the water and consequently improving the performance of the brush.

[0015] The through hole 5 can be from one hole, depending on the size of the ferrule 3, the larger the ferrule 3, the more through holes 5 can be provided.

[0016] Optionally, the ferrule 3 comprises more holes that are grouped in a series of lines of holes 6,7, thus increasing the number of through holes 5 and increasing the entry of water inside the ferrule 3, said water being absorbed by the brush hairs.

[0017] In a possible configuration, the series of lines of holes could have a zigzag configuration, as shown in Figure 1, between one line of holes 6 and the immediately following line of holes 7. This is done in order to impregnate the entire upper part 4, so that all the hairs may absorb water. With the zigzag, the perforated surface of the ferrule 3 can be increased, since with this zigzag configuration the free spaces that would remain between the different lines of holes 6 would be covered.

[0018] It would also be possible to arrange the holes 5 in such a way that they increase in size as they move away from the tip 8 and towards the handle 1. This is done to increase water loaded in the upper part 4. Then, when absorbed by the hairs, the water falls downwards due to the gravity. If a certain amount of water is loaded in a specific area of the upper part 4, the lower areas do not need to be loaded with too much water because the water will gradually descend towards the tip 8.

[0019] In a specific embodiment, the artist would have a container filled with water. The artist would then introduce the brush inside the container through the tip 8, sinking it until the last line of holes 9 is submerged.

[0020] The water will thus start penetrating inside the ferrule 3 through the through holes 5. The upper part 4 of the bundle of brush hairs would also become impregnated with water, as it has been absorbed by the brush hairs. The water will descend from the upper part 4 towards the tip 8 as it is needed. In classic watercolour brushes, the upper part 4 is not employed to load water.

[0021] It would be possible to configure the handle to have a recess, which would prevent the brush from rolling when it is put down on a surface.

[0022] The present invention describes a new watercolour brush. The examples provided herein are not limiting of the present invention and there could be different applications and / or adaptations thereof, all of which fall within the scope of the following claims.
