Description Title of the invention: Bay pillar trim and dashboard insert.
[0001] The present invention claims priority from French application 2209713 filed on September 26, 2022, the content of which (text, drawings and claims) is 5 herein incorporated by reference. The technical field relates to dashboard inserts, bay pillar trims and assemblies comprising such an insert and such bay pillar trims.
[0002] For car manufacturers, the quality of their vehicles' finish and their aesthetic aspects are essential to stand out from other brands. Also 10 Manufacturers are making a lot of effort to constantly improve these areas. In particular, customers are paying close attention to the flushness and assembly clearances of the various interior trim elements.
[0003] In this context, most vehicles are equipped with trim elements for the bay pillars, arranged on each side of the dashboard and forming a 15 precise fit with a dashboard skin, covering the dashboard and forming an appearance surface. Usually, the trim elements are arranged on the bay pillars then the dashboard and finally the dashboard skin are put in place allowing the precise fits to be formed.
[0004] However, some vehicles offer defogging and 20 defrosting arranged in the feet of the bay pillars. In this case, the installation of the bay pillar trim elements before installing the dashboard can be complicated or even impossible, in particular when the ventilation devices include one or more air ducts attached to the dashboard. However, the installation of the bay pillar trim elements after installing the 25 dashboard, when possible, does not allow for adjustments of acceptable quality.
[0005] The present invention aims to overcome the problems set out above. In this technical context, one aim of the present invention is to provide a technical solution allowing the mounting of bay pillar trim after the 30 installation of the dashboard in order to obtain precise adjustments.
[0006] To this end, the present invention relates to a dashboard insert designed to be installed on a motor vehicle and to form a support for a dashboard skin, the insert comprising at least one fixing interface designed to each accommodate, on the one hand, an edge of the dashboard skin capable to be supported by the insert and, on the other hand, one end of a bay pillar trim, the dashboard skin and the bay pillar trim forming an assembly when received in the fixing interface, the fixing interface comprising guide means designed to guide the insertion of 5 the end of the trim into the fixing interface by sliding the end of the trim onto the guide means.
[0007] The invention also relates to a bay pillar trim adapted to be assembled on a dashboard insert according to the invention to form an assembly with a dashboard skin, the trim having an end adapted 10 for insertion into a fixing interface of the insert, the end having an S-shaped profile.
[0008] The invention also relates to an assembly comprising an insert according to the invention, at least one trim according to the invention inserted into the fixing interface of the insert and furthermore a dashboard skin inserted into the fixing interface. [OOK®] The invention finally relates to a motor vehicle comprising an assembly according to the invention.
[0010] Thus, the insert according to the invention makes it possible, in collaboration with at least one bay pillar trim according to the invention, to obtain perfect adjustments while allowing the trim to be fitted after the dashboard and 20 its board insert according to the invention on the vehicle. Thanks to the guide means of the insert, the mounting of the trim is possible and easy, the trim being guided in the fixing interface. The assembly according to the invention therefore has perfect trim adjustments while allowing the mounting of bay pillar trim according to the invention having, for example, one or more grilles 25 ventilations adapted to ventilation means comprising air ducts forming part of and installed with the dashboard.
[0011] According to one embodiment of the insert, the guide means comprise an inclined plane.
[0012] According to one embodiment of the invention, the fixing interface comprises a 30 housing, the inclined plane forming a rim of the housing.
[0013] Advantageously, the housing has a first part, designed to receive the edge of the dashboard skin and a part of the end of the bay pillar trim, the first part being extended by a second part designed to receive only part of the end of the bay pillar trim.
[0014] According to a possibility of the trim, the shape of the S-shaped profile is adapted to bring the trim into abutment against the board skin and / or the insert when the 5 trim is inserted into the fixing interface.
[0015] In one embodiment, the liner has an inclined surface configured to cooperate with the inclined plane of the insert as the liner slides over the insert.
[0016] The invention will be better understood upon reading the detailed description which follows, given solely as a non-limiting example and made with reference to the drawing 10 annexed on which:
[0017] [Fig. 1] Figure 1 represents a schematic sectional view of an assembly according to the invention implementing a board insert and a bay upright trim according to the invention.
[0018] An assembly 1 according to the invention, shown diagrammatically in Figure 1, is intended to be 15 installed on a motor vehicle. The assembly 1 comprises a dashboard insert 2 according to the invention and at least one window pillar trim 3. Advantageously, a window pillar trim 3 is present on each of the sides of the insert 2. Advantageously, the assembly 1 also comprises a dashboard skin 4. [0ŒE9] The dashboard skin 4 is typically formed from a covering designed to cover the insert 2 and form a surface of appearance 5 visible to the driver of the vehicle. The skin 4 is generally made from a flexible material.
[0020] The window pillar trim 3 is, for its part, designed to dress a window pillar of the vehicle according to the invention, in particular a window pillar having 25 a ventilation and demisting function. For this purpose, the bay pillar trim 3 advantageously has a ventilation grille, not shown.
[0021] The dashboard insert 2 is designed to form a support for the dashboard skin 4 and comprises at least one fixing interface 6, each designed to accommodate, on the one hand, one end 7 of the bay pillar trim 3, and a 30 edge 8 of the dashboard skin 4. The assembly 1 according to the invention is thus formed from the skin 4 and at least one trim 3 inserted into the fixing interface 6. In order to allow the formation of the assembly 1, each fixing interface 6 comprises guide means, in this case an inclined plane 9, designed to guide the insertion of the end 7 of the trim 3 into the interface 6 by sliding of the end 7 of the lining 3 on the guide means, in this case the inclined plane 9.
[0022] In the example illustrated in the figure, the fixing interface 6 comprises a housing 10, the inclined plane 9 forming a rim 11 of the housing 10. Advantageously, the 5 housing 10 has a first part 12 and a second part 13. The first part 12 is designed to receive the edge 8 of the dashboard skin 4. The end 7 of the bay post trim 3 extends through the first part 12. The second part 13 extends the first part 12 and is designed to receive only a part of the end 7 of the bay post trim 3. 10 The second part 13 is narrower than the first part 12 and forms a guide tab 14 of the end 7 of the trim 3.
[0023] The end 7 of the bay post trim 3 is designed to be inserted into the housing 10 of the fixing interface 6 and has an S-shaped profile. Advantageously, the S-shaped profile shape is suitable for, when the 15 trim 3 is inserted into the fixing interface 6, bringing the trim 3 into contact with the part of the dashboard skin 4 located in the housing 10 and / or in contact with the dashboard insert 2.
[0024] In order to facilitate the insertion of the lining 3 into the fixing interface 6, the end 7 of the lining 3 has an inclined surface 15 designed to cooperate with the inclined plane 9 of the insert 2, when sliding the lining 3 onto the insert 1.
[0025] Finally, advantageously, the end 7 of the bay upright trim 3 has a reinforcing rib 16 intended to increase the rigidity of the end 7 so that the trim 3 is able to withstand the assembly forces.
[0026] Thus, the assembly 1 according to the invention makes it possible to produce a covering of the dashboard 25 and the bay pillars thanks to the dashboard skin 4 and the bay pillar trims 3. The insert 2 allows an assembly order different from the conventional order and in particular the assembly of the bay pillar trims 3 once the insert 2 has been mounted on the vehicle according to the invention and the skin 4 has been placed on the insert 2: it is sufficient to bring each end 7 of each bay pillar trim 3 into contact with an inclined plane 9 then to slide the end into the fixing interface 6.
[0027] Thus, the assembly 1 according to the invention has perfect trim adjustments. The insert 2 and the bay pillar trim 3 allow an unusual assembly in which the dashboard and the insert 2 are mounted in a first step followed by the assembly of each trim 3 which is guided into position in the interface 6 for fixing the insert 2 using the guide means, in this case the inclined plane 9. This proves to be particularly advantageous when the bay uprights are equipped with ventilation means.
[0038] The invention is not limited to the embodiment of the dashboard insert or the bay pillar trim described above, only by way of example, but other embodiments can be designed by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and scope of the present invention.
