Abstract
Description
Description Title of the invention: Transfer device for transferring bulk materials packaged in flexible containers
[0001] The present invention relates to a transfer device for transferring bulk materials packaged in flexible containers.
[0002] It relates in particular to a transfer device for the transfer of bulk materials conditioned in flexible containers, said device comprising a tubular hollow body delimiting a longitudinal through passage, this hollow body being open at its so-called upper end and being provided at its lower end with an external peripheral collar and a sealing element in the form of a plate positionable against said collar, said sealing element and the collar being coupled to each other by at least one connecting axis and the sealing element being able to pivot around said axis between a so-called closed position in which the lower end of said body is closed and a so-called open position in which the lower end of said body is at least partially open, the sealing element and the collar each being provided with a gripping handle.
[0003] Such a transfer device is known, as illustrated by patents EP 3,484,776, EP 2,937,291, and EP 3,838,781. These devices are perfectly suited for transferring free-flowing products and / or products with a particle size corresponding to small particles, as is the case with fertilizers, animal feed, or small pebbles. There is currently a demand for the application of these transfer devices to less free-flowing products that tend to clog, such as lime, or minerals containing a significant amount of cement, sand, bicarbonate, or other similar materials, or large pebbles. These products increase the risk of malfunction of the sealing mechanism, leading to a failure to close the passage of the body.
[0004] One aim of the invention is to provide a transfer device whose design allows its application to any type of product, including products with low fluidity or high particle size, without compromising the reliability of the transfer device.
[0005] To this end, the invention relates to a transfer device for transferring bulk materials packaged in flexible containers, said device comprising a tubular hollow body delimiting a longitudinal through passage, this hollow body being open at its so-called upper end and being provided at its lower end with an external peripheral collar and a sealing element in the form of a plate positionable against said collar, said sealing element and the collar being coupled to each other by at least one connecting axis and the sealing element being able to pivot about said axis between a so-called closed position in which the lower end of said body is closed and a so-called open position in which the lower end of said body is at least partially open, the sealing element and the collar each being provided with a gripping handle, characterized in that the transfer device comprises at least one visual system for indicating the position of the obturator in the closed position of the obturator, at least a part of this visual system for indicating the position of the obturator in the closed position of the obturator being disposed at the level of the collar in a location on the collar situated closer to the handle equipping the collar than to the handle equipping the obturator, in the closed position of the obturator, this visual system for indicating the position of the obturator in the closed position of the obturator being at least partially visible on the so-called top face of the collar opposite the bottom face of the collar facing the obturator.
[0006] The inventor observed that to allow the transfer of products with low fluidity or large particle sizes, it was necessary to increase the diameter of the passage defined by the body. This results in an increase in the dimensions of the sealing element, which then tends to deform more easily under the weight of the product being transferred. With a traditional design of the transfer device, the risk is that an imperfect seal of the lower end of the passage with the sealing element may go unnoticed due to the deformation of said element. The presence of a visual system indicating the position of the sealing element when it is closed, and the positioning of part of the system in a specific location on the flange, allows the operator to ensure... fast and reliable correct positioning of the sealing element in the closed position, thus ensuring perfect closure of the passage of the transfer device body at the lower end of the body.
[0007] According to one embodiment of the invention, the visual system for indicating the position of the obturator in the closed position comprises a visual indicator of the obturator's position in the closed position and a radial opening in the body formed at least partially within the thickness of the collar. The radial opening is a through opening through which the obturator is able to partially protrude in the closed position. The visual indicator of the obturator's position in the closed position is formed by the portion of the obturator that, in the closed position, protrudes from the opening and is at least partially visible from the top face of the collar. This configuration allows the operator to quickly visualize that the obturator is in the closed position.Obviously, when the obturator does not protrude at least partially through the through-hole in an angular position that normally corresponds to its closed position, the operator, unable to see the obturator, deduces that it has become deformed and is not correctly positioned in the closed position. This observation can be made from the top face of the collar without the operator having to turn the transfer device over. This results in a time saving.
[0008] According to one embodiment of the invention, at least a portion of the through-hole is delimited by a recess formed in the collar, this recess creating a hollow when viewed from the top face of the collar. This design allows for even faster visualization of the protruding positioning of the obturator element through the through-hole.
[0009] According to one embodiment of the invention, the sealing element and the collar are of different colors. This results in a simplified manufacturing process for said opening.
[0010] According to one embodiment of the invention, the device comprises an insert that can be positioned opposite the collar. This insert, which is centrally hollow to avoid obstructing the passage of the body, is positioned opposite the collar and can be coupled to it, providing at least a local gap between the collar and the insert. This gap allows for the positioning of at least a portion of the sealing element between the collar and the insert, at least in the closed position of the sealing element, and over at least part of the stroke of the sealing element between the closed and open positions. The presence of an insert limits the deformation of the sealing element under the weight of the load to be transferred. This results in a reduced risk of incorrect positioning of the sealing element in the closed position.
[0011] According to one embodiment of the invention, the centrally hollowed-out component is in the form of a centrally hollowed-out plate, and the handles extend flush with or recessed from the underside of the plate opposite the face facing the collar. Making the component in the form of a plate, that is, a thin piece, limits the risk of breakage of the handles under the weight of the container's load, the contents of which must be transferred when the container is in a flat position on the transfer device resting on the ground via its plate.
[0012] According to one embodiment of the invention, the plate has a thickness at most equal to three times the thickness of the collar.
[0013] According to one embodiment of the invention, the plate is removably coupled to the collar.
[0014] According to one embodiment, the plate, which is centrally hollowed out to form an opening, has a perimeter of said opening greater than the dimension of the inner perimeter of the collar.
[0015] According to one embodiment of the invention, the centrally hollowed added part is in the form of a sleeve equipped at one end with a collar.
[0016] According to one embodiment of the invention, the device locally comprises spacers preferably made in the form of studs arranged between the collar and the added piece to maintain at least locally a minimum gap between the collar and the added piece.
[0017] According to one embodiment of the invention, the sealing member and / or the handle equipping the sealing member are provided with at least one locking projection configured to engage with the collar in the closed position of the sealing member.
[0018] According to one embodiment, the sealing member is mounted movable to pivot about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the passage delimited by said body. Brief description of the drawings

[0029] [Fig. 10] represents a schematic view partially in cross-section of a transfer device according to the invention during its positioning in a flexible container.
[0030] As mentioned above, the transfer device 1, which is the subject of the invention, is particularly intended for transferring loads, especially bulk materials such as powders or granules packaged in flexible containers 20, particularly large bags, also known as "big bags," to smaller or larger receiving containers, or to predetermined storage areas. The example shown in Figure 10 illustrates the transfer of a load from a large bag.
[0031] This transfer device 1 comprises a hollow tubular body 2, defining a longitudinal through passage 3. This passage 3 therefore has a longitudinal axis. Preferably, the body 2 is cylindrical. In the examples shown, this body 2 is made of a synthetic material, but could have been made of metal.
[0032] One end of said body 2, shown in 4 in the figures, and called the upper end, is shaped into a point with a generally conical appearance. This upper, pointed, perforating end 4 is here made using inclined arms converging from the peripheral edge of said body in the direction of the free end of the tip. Alternatively, this upper end 4 of the body 2 can be, for example, a cylindrical end with a rim to attach the bottom of a container to it by means of a collar, as is also known from the prior art.
[0033] The body 2 is provided, at its lower end 5, with an external peripheral collar 6. This external peripheral collar 6 surrounds the opening of the body 2. This collar 6 extends in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the passage delimited by the body 2. This collar has an internal peripheral edge, generally circular. However, the external peripheral edge may be circular as shown, or of another shape, for example quadrangular, without departing from the scope of the invention. The collar 6 and the body 2 are made in one piece.
[0034] The device 1 further includes a closing element 7 for the passage 3. This closing element 7 is in the form of a plate or paddle that can be positioned against the collar 6 which is provided on the lower end 5 of the body 2. The plate constituting this closing element 7 may be provided with a reinforcement in the form of ribs for example in a cross shape projecting from one face of the plate.
[0035] The obturator 7 is a pivoting obturator mounted movable to pivot about an axis substantially parallel, that is to say parallel to plus or minus 10°, to the longitudinal axis of the passage 3 delimited by said body 2 for a displacement of said obturator 7 between an open position and a closed position of said passage 3.
[0036] The axis around which the sealing member 7 pivots, which is represented in 8 in the figures, corresponds to the body of a bolt acting as a linking member between the sealing member 7 and the collar 6.
[0037] In the open position of passage 3, the obturation element 7 extends mostly outside the perimeter delimited by the tubular body 2, as illustrated in Figure 6. In the closed position of passage 3, the obturation element 7 extends mostly inside the perimeter delimited by the body 2, as illustrated in Figure 8. Thus, during its passage of the From closed position to open position, said sealing organ 7 progressively releases passage 3 allowing adjustment of the flow rate.
[0038] The obturator 7 is equipped with a gripping handle 91. In the examples shown, the obturator 7 and the gripping handle 91 are made of a single piece of synthetic material. The gripping handle 91 is in the form of a handle extending radially from the obturator 7, which is made in the form of a generally circular plate.
[0039] The collar 6 of the body 2 is similarly equipped with a gripping handle 92. This gripping handle 92 is in the form of a handle extending radially from the collar 6. In the closed position of the obturator 7, the handles are preferably diametrically opposed with respect to the body 2, and therefore substantially aligned.
[0040] In the examples shown, the handle 91 of the shuttering element 7 is provided with at least one locking projection 16 configured to engage with the collar 6 in the closed position of the shuttering element 7, as illustrated in Figure 4. This locking projection 16 could similarly have been fitted to the shuttering element 7 at the handle 91. This locking projection 16 forms with the shuttering element 7 a clamp into which a portion of the collar 6 is inserted in the closed position of the shuttering element 7.
[0041] The locking projection(s) 16 are positioned on the upper face 61 of the collar 6, as illustrated in Figure 3, in the closed position of the sealing member 7. It should be noted that the upper face 61 of the collar 6 is the face of the collar 6 facing the upper end 4 of the body 2, while the lower face 62 of the collar 6 is the opposite face.
[0042] To ensure the correct positioning of the obturator organ 7 and its absence of deformation, the transfer device 1 includes at least one visual system 10 for indicating the position of the obturator organ 7 in the closed position.
[0043] At least part of this visual system 10 for indicating the position of the obturator 7 in the closed position of the obturator 7 is disposed at the level of the collar 6 in a location on the collar 6 arranged more near the handle 92 equipping the collar 6 than near the handle 91 equipping the obturating organ 7, in the closed position of the obturating organ 7 as illustrated in figure 1.
[0044] This visual system 10 for indicating the position of the obturator organ 7 in the closed position of the obturator organ 7 is, because of its visibility on the so-called top face 61 of the collar 6 opposite the bottom face 62 of the collar 6 turned towards the obturator organ 7, visible on the top face 61 of the collar 6.
[0045] The visual system 10 for indicating the position of the obturation organ 7 in the closed position of the obturation organ 7 includes a visual indicator 100 for the position of the obturation organ 7 in the closed position of the obturation organ 7 and a radial opening 11 in the body 2 provided at least partially in the thickness of the collar 6. The radial opening 11 in the body 2 forms the part of the visual system 10 for indicating the position of the obturation organ 7 in the closed position of the obturation organ 7 which, in the closed position of the obturation organ 7, is disposed at the level of the collar 6 in a location of the collar 6 disposed closer to the handle 92 equipping the collar 6 than to the handle 91 equipping the obturation organ 7. This radial opening 11 extends between the pivot axis of the obturator organ 7 and the handle 92 equipping the collar 6.
[0046] The radial opening 11 is a through-opening through which the obturator 7 is able to partially protrude in the closed position. The visual indicator 100 of the obturator 7's position in the closed position is formed by the portion of the obturator 7 which, in the closed position, protrudes from the opening 11 and is at least partially visible from the upper face 61 of the collar 6. The presence of a portion of the obturator 7 protruding from the through-opening 11 indicates correct positioning of the obturator 7 in the closed position. Conversely, when the obturator organ 7 is not visible through the through opening 11 because it does not protrude from the latter, this indicates that the obturator organ 7 is not in the closed position.
[0047] At least part of this through opening 11 is delimited by a notch 12 formed in the collar 6. This notch 12 forms a recess on the upper face of the collar. This notch 12 forms a boss on the lower face of the collar 6. This notch 12 forms, from the upper face of the collar, a U-shaped recess in the example shown in Figures 1, 3, and 4. The web of the U forms the bottom of the cavity of the U-shaped recess. The arms of the U, which extend longitudinally along the thickness of the collar 6, extend widthwise from the outer edge of the collar 6 towards the inner edge of the collar 6. The notch 12 therefore extends from the outer edge of the collar towards the inner edge of the collar over a portion of the collar. The part of the collar, not collapsed, close to the body 2, forms the upper edge of the opening 11, while the collapsed part of the collar, corresponding to the notch 12, forms the lower edge of the opening 11.
[0048] The branches of the U of the step 12 also each have, at their base, in their area of connection to the core of the U, an open notch in the direction of the body 2 and communicating with the opening delimited by the upper edge and the lower edge, described above, to give to said through opening 11, the shape of an elongated slot-type opening.
[0049] Part of the outer edge of the obturator 7 can, in the closed position of the obturator 7, penetrate into this slot to protrude outside of said opening, and rest on the bottom of the cavity formed by the hollow of the notch 12. This part of the obturator 7 is visible from the top face 61 of the collar 6 and forms the visual indicator 100 of the position of the obturator 7.
[0050] The presence of this part of the obturation element 7 at the notch 12 confirms that the obturation element 7 is in the expected closed position. To aid in this visualization, the obturation element 7 and the collar 6 are different colors. For example, the obturation element 7 is yellow, and the collar 6 is black.
[0051] It is understood from the above that when the obturating organ 7 is unable, for various reasons, to partially insert itself into the through opening 11 and to partially protrude from it during its pivoting movement around the axis 8 substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the passage 3 delimited by said body 2 for the passage from the open position to the closed position, the operator observes, by looking at the top face of the collar, this lack of visibility of the obturating organ 7 through said opening 11 and concludes that there is no correct closure of the obturating organ 7.
[0052] The transfer device 1 may further include an added part 13 that can be positioned opposite the collar 6. Preferably, this added part is made of a synthetic material. This added part 13, which is centrally hollow so as not to obstruct the passage 3 of the body 2, is positioned opposite the collar 6 and can be coupled to the collar 6, providing at least locally a space 14 between the collar 6 and the added part 13 for positioning at least a portion of the sealing element 7 between the collar 6 and the added part 13, at least in the closed position of the sealing element 7 and over at least a portion of the stroke of the sealing element 7 between the closed and open positions.
[0053] In the example shown in Figures 3 to 6, the centrally hollowed-out piece 13 is in the form of a centrally hollowed-out plate 131. The handles 91 and 92 extend flush with or recessed from the so-called underside face 1311 of the plate 131 opposite the face 1312 facing the collar 6.
[0054] The added part 13 can therefore, as mentioned above, be in the form of a centrally hollowed plate 131, that is to say, provided with a centrally located hollow forming an opening. This opening prevents the passage 3 of the body 2 from being obstructed when the plate 131 is positioned opposite the collar 6. This plate 131 can indeed be positioned opposite the collar 6 and connected to the collar 6 by providing at least locally a space 14 between the collar 6 and the plate 131, for positioning or interposing at least a portion of the closing element 7 between the collar 6 and the plate 131, at least in the closed position of the closing element 7 and over at least part of the stroke of the closing element 7 between the positions closed and open. This space 14 forms a support and guide path for the sealing element 7. Thus, deformation of the sealing element 7 in the closed position, or over at least part of the stroke between the closed and open positions, is limited or prevented. The connecting elements coupling the plate 131 to the collar 6 of the body can be bolts. The ends of the bolts, together with at least a portion of the face of the plate 131 opposite the face facing the collar, form a flat surface to provide a flat support. Preferably, the plate, which is centrally hollowed out to form an opening, has a perimeter of said opening greater than the dimension of the inner circumference of the collar.
[0055] The centrally hollowed-out piece 13 can, alternatively, be in the form of a sleeve 132 fitted at one end with a collar 1321 as illustrated in figures 7 to 9.
[0056] This sleeve 132 is coupled to the flange 6 by means of connecting elements, such as bolts, coupling the flange 6 of the body 2 and the flange 1321 of the sleeve 132. These bolts are visible in Figure 7. The flange 1321 of the sleeve 132 performs the same function as the plate 131 described above with regard to guiding and retaining the sealing element 7. Similarly, spacers 15 can be provided to maintain at least locally a minimum gap between the flange 1321 and the flange 6, this minimum gap forming the space 14 between the flange 1321 and the flange 6. This configuration with the sleeve of the transfer device 1 facilitates the transfer of load to a bag that can be coupled to the sleeve 132 by a hose clamp.
[0057] Finally, the transfer device 1 comprises, in a manner known per se, tabs on the outer peripheral surface of the body 2, in the area of the body 2 extending between the sealing member 7 and the upper end 4. These tabs serve to retain the transfer device 1 within the flexible container. Indeed, generally, to transfer loads contained in a flexible container 20, as illustrated in Figure 10, using the transfer device 1, as described above, the procedure is as follows:
[0058] The transfer device 1, with its sealing element 7 in the closed position, is positioned on a flat surface under the bottom of the container 20 to be emptied, which itself is held up using, for example, a forklift.
[0059] The transfer device 1 is therefore positioned on the ground, with the tubular body 2 upright and its upper end 4, preferably a perforating end, pointing towards the bottom of the flexible container 20. The flexible container 20 is lowered until the upper perforating end 4 of the body 2 pierces the bottom of the flexible container 20 as it is lowered.
[0060] The introduction of the transfer device 1 into the flexible container 20 continues until the legs of the body 2 pass through, which can approach the body 2 to enter the flexible container 20, before moving away from the body to retain the transfer device 1 inside the flexible container.
[0061] Once the transfer device 1 has been inserted up to the collar 6, the container+transfer device assembly can be lifted to allow gravity flow of the charges contained in the flexible container through the passage 3 of the body 2. To do this, the sealing member 7 is opened by pivoting the sealing member 7 in the direction of bringing the handle 91 of the sealing member 7 closer to the handle 92 of the collar 6.
[0062] During this movement, the obturator 7 can be locally guided in movement by the collar 6 and the plate 131 or the sleeve 132, between which it is positioned, and slides, when such a plate or such a sleeve is present, so that a deformation of the obturator 7 under the effect of the load is prevented.
[0063] When the draining is complete, the sealing member 7 is pivotally moved in the opposite direction by spreading the handles, while possibly being guided locally between the collar 6 and the plate 131 or the sleeve 132 until it reaches an end-of-stroke position in which a portion of the outer peripheral edge of the sealing member 7 enters the radial through-opening 11 of the collar 6 and protrudes from it to be visible from outside the body, in particular from face 61 of the top of collar 6.
[0064] The operator knows that the closing position of the obturator organ 7 is correct.
