[0003] In the prior art, vehicle headlight housings are well known. Vehicle headlight housings usually comprise of a housing body, in which vehicle headlight components such as lighting devices, optical elements, electronics etc., are located and a cover which covers the housing body. The cover is a transparent cover lens, which can be optically inactive, and which is configured to shield and protect the interior of the vehicle headlight housing from dirt and damage. The cover lens is usually not involved in creating a specific vehicle light function, therefore, the cover lens is in general free of optically active parts such as, e.g., a reflections lens. In order to protect the interior of the vehicle headlight housing and the parts mounted therein, the cover is fixed to the housing body. In the prior art, it known the glue the cover onto the housing body, because this provides a secure connection between the cover and the housing body and, at the same time, provides a sealed connection, which prevents moisture from getting inside the vehicle headlight housing. A glued connection has the disadvantage, that a removal or and exchange of the cover cannot be done without physical damage to the cover and / or the housing body. Therefore, the cover and / or the entire vehicle headlight housing becomes a one-way part, which is not sustainable.

[0006] According to the invention, the vehicle headlight housing comprises: a holding element, by which the cover is detachably attached to the housing body, said holding element comprises a holding section, which is engaged with a counter holding section of the cover, said engagement prevents displacement of the cover relative to the holding element, wherein the holding section is formed correspondingly to the counter holding section, such that the holding section and the counter holding section establish a form-fit connection, wherein the holding element, to which the cover is form-fittingly connected to, is detachably attached to the housing body via a reversible fixation mechanism, said reversible fixation mechanism comprises first fixation means and second fixation means, wherein the first fixation means and the second fixation means are configured to establish a detachable force-fit connection between each other, wherein the housing body comprises the first fixation means and the holding element comprises the second fixation means, wherein the first fixation means are reversibly engaged with the second fixation means to detachably attach the holding element to the housing body, wherein the vehicle headlight housing further comprises a sealing element, wherein the cover comprises a sealing surface and the housing body comprises a sealing counter surface, said sealing surface and said sealing counter surface are formed corresponding to each other, wherein the holding element, the cover and the housing body are configured such that the sealing surface and the sealing counter surface are spaced apart from each other, wherein the sealing element is arranged in the space between the sealing surface and the sealing counter surface to establish a sealed connection between the cover and the housing body.

Vehicle headlight housing (1), comprising: a housing body (2), a cover (3), which is detachably attached to the housing body (2), wherein the housing body (2) and the cover (3) detachably attached thereto confine an inner space (V) of the vehicle headlight housing (1), said inner space (V) is configured to accommodate a vehicle headlight lighting device (LD), wherein when the cover (3) is detached from the housing body (2), the inner space (V) is accessible from an outside of the vehicle headlight housing (1), characterized in that the vehicle headlight housing (1) comprises: a holding element (4), by which the cover (3) is detachably attached to the housing body (2), said holding element (4) comprises a holding section (4a), which is engaged with a counter holding section (3a) of the cover (3), said engagement prevents displacement of the cover (3) relative to the holding element (4), wherein the holding section (4a) is formed correspondingly to the counter holding section (3a), such that the holding section (4a) and the counter holding section (3a) establish a form-fit connection, wherein the holding element (4), to which the cover (3) is form-fittingly connected to, is detachably attached to the housing body (2) via a reversible fixation mechanism, said reversible fixation mechanism comprises first fixation means (5a) and second fixation means (5b), wherein the first fixation means (5a) and the second fixation means (5b) are configured to establish a detachable force-fit connection between each other, wherein the housing body (2) comprises the first fixation means (5a) and the holding element (4) comprises the second fixation means (5b), wherein the first fixation means (5a) are reversibly engaged with the second fixation means (5b) to detachably attach the holding (4) element to the housing body (2), wherein the vehicle headlight housing (1) further comprises a sealing element (6), wherein the cover (3) comprises a sealing surface (S1) and the housing body (2) comprises a sealing counter surface (S2), said sealing surface (S1) and said sealing counter surface (S2) are formed corresponding to each other, wherein the holding element (4), the cover (3) and the housing body (2) are configured such that the sealing surface (S1) and the sealing counter surface (S2) are spaced apart from each other, wherein the sealing element (6) is arranged in the space between the sealing surface (S1) and the sealing counter surface (S2) to establish a sealed connection between the cover (3) and the housing body (2).

Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to claim 1, wherein the first fixation means (5a) of the housing body (2) comprise a plurality of screws, which are insertable in through-holes (5c) located at the housing body (2), wherein the second fixation means (5b) of the holding element (4) comprise a plurality of screw threats, which are corresponding to the plurality of screws, wherein the plurality of screw threats is located at the holding element (4), or, wherein the second fixation means (5b) of the holding element (4) comprise a plurality of screws, which are insertable in though-holes (5c) located at the holding element (4), wherein the first fixation means (5a) of the housing body (2) comprise a plurality of screw threats, which are corresponding to the plurality of screws, wherein the plurality of screw threats is located at the housing body (2).

Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to claim 1, wherein the first fixation means (5a) comprise a first interlocking element and the second fixation means (5b) comprise a second interlocking element, wherein the first interlocking element and the second interlocking element are configured to establish a reversible snap fit connection.

Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the space between the sealing surface (S1) and the sealing counter surface (S2) defines a first sealing volume, when the force-fit connection between the first fixation means (5a) and the second fixation means (5b) is established, wherein the space between the sealing surface (S1) and the sealing counter surface (S2) defines a second sealing volume, when the force-fit connection between the first fixation means (5a) and the second fixation means (5b) is detached, wherein the first sealing volume is smaller than the second sealing volume, wherein preferably the sealing element (6) comprises a compressible material.

Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the holding section (4a) comprises a contact surface (4a1) and the counter holding section (3a) comprises a counter contact surface (3a1), wherein the form-fit connection is established by a, preferably interlocking, contact between the contact surface (4a1) of the holding section (4a) and the counter contact surface (3a1) of the counter holding section (3a), wherein preferably the holding element (4) is configured as a 2-componant-part, such that the holding section (4a) comprises a material, which is different from the material of the remaining holding element (4), wherein the material is configured to prevent physical damage to the cover (3), in particular to a coating on the cover (3), wherein preferably the material of the holding section (4a) is softer than the material of the remaining holding element (4).

Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the housing body (2) comprise a housing body outer surface (2S) and the cover (3) comprise a cover outer surface (3S), wherein the housing body outer surface (2S) and the cover outer surface (3S) are opposite of the inner space (V) confined by the vehicle headlight housing (1), wherein the holding element (4) comprises a contact surface (4S), which contacts a portion, preferably only a portion, of the housing body outer surface (2S) and / or a portion of the cover outer surface (3S), wherein preferably the holding section (4a) of the holding element (4) is located on a portion (4S1) of the contact surface (4S) of the holding element (4), said portion (4S1) of the contact surface (4S) contacts the cover outer surface (3S), wherein preferably the counter holding section (3a) of the cover (3) is located on the cover outer surface (3S).

Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the vehicle headlight housing (1) is configured such that the sealing element (6), the sealing surface (S1) and the sealing counter surface (S2) are closer to a center of the inner space (V) of the vehicle headlight housing (1) than the first fixation means (5a) and the second fixation means (5b).

Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the cover (3) is circumscribed by a cover edge portion (3E), wherein the housing body (2) comprises an opening (2a), said opening (2a) is circumscribed by a rim portion (2R), wherein the rim portion (2R) of the opening (2a) of the housing body (2) is formed corresponding to the cover edge portion (3E), such that the cover (3) fits onto the opening (2a) of the housing body (2), wherein preferably the cover edge portion (3E) comprises the counter holding section (3a) and / or the sealing surface (S1), wherein preferably the opening rim portion (2R) of the housing body (2) comprises the first fixation means (5a) and / or the sealing counter surface (S2).

Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to claim 8, wherein the counter holding section (3a) of the cover (3) is arranged along the cover edge portion (3E), wherein the holding element (4) is configured such that the holding section (4a) extends along the counter holding section (3a) to form the form-fit connection between the holding section (4a) and the counter holding section (3a).
10. Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to claim 8 or 9, wherein the holding element (4) is configured to envelop the entire cover edge portion (3E) and the entire opening rim portion (2R).

Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the holding element (4) comprises at least two, preferably a plurality of, holding sub-elements (4'), wherein each holding sub-element (4') comprises a holding sub-section (4a'), which is engaged with the counter holding section (3a) of the cover (3), wherein each holding sub-element (4') comprises second fixation means (5b), wherein preferably the holding sub-elements (4') are arranged along the cover edge portion (3E) and the opening rim portion (2R), wherein preferably the at least two or the plurality of holding sub-elements are arranged equidistantly along the cover edge portion (3E) of the cover (3).
12. Vehicle headlight housing (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the cover (3) is a cover lens, which is at least partially, preferably fully, transparent.
13. Vehicle headlight (7), comprising a vehicle headlight housing (1) according to any one of claims 1 to 12 and a vehicle headlight lighting device (LD), which is accommodated within the inner space (V) of the vehicle headlight housing (1), wherein the vehicle headlight lighting device (LD) is configured to create and emit light, said light forms a vehicle headlight light function, e.g., a low beam, a light beam, an indicator light, a parking light, a day-time driving light or a sign light.
14. Vehicle headlight (7) according to claim 13, wherein the vehicle headlight lighting device (LD) is arranged within the inner space (V) of the vehicle headlight housing (1) such that light, which forms the vehicle headlight light function, is emitted towards and through the cover (3).
15. Vehicle headlight (7) according to claim 13 or 14, wherein the cover (3) is a cover lens, which is at least partially, preferably fully, transparent, wherein light, which forms the vehicle headlight light function, is emitted towards and through the transparent portion of the cover (3), wherein preferably the cover (3) is optically inactive.
