Description

Technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to the technical field of in-store product displays. More particularly, but not limited to, it refers to displays commonly used in retail outlets. Background of the invention

[0002] In the retail display sector, those displays that are usually placed next to the point of sale or payment terminal of the respective shop to encourage, for example, impulse or last-minute purchases, are well known. One of the most common forms adopted by these displays is that of vertical columns or strips that house the corresponding products, so that they are easily seen by the customer and can also be easily picked up by the latter, without the need to ask a shop assistant. In this sense, the efforts of the manufacturers of this type of display focus on devices that can be easily placed - by those in charge of the shop - in furniture elements of the point of sale itself or close thereto, that adopt positions oriented towards the customer's view (visibility), that house the largest possible number of units of the advertised product, with sufficient structural strength, and which can be manufactured in a relatively simple way with final device assembly features within the reach of any person in charge (either employees of the shop where these devices are to be placed or operators in the same factory premises).

[0003] Among the background of the present invention is utility model U9800676, which comprises a strip body with adhesive support points for products of various types, for example flow packs. This device fulfils several of the functions mentioned in the previous paragraph but could be improved in some of them, e.g. the capacity of the number of packaging units displayed and the structural strength thereof.

[0004] This device offers features of manufacture, assembly and use that make it easy for shop operators and shop assistants to use and convenient for shop customers to access. It increases the surface area available for product presentation while retaining the necessary strength properties for the weight of the products (compared to prior art strips of the same height and width) and can be made of economical and environmentally friendly materials.Description of the invention

[0005] The following is a general explanation of the present invention, focussing on its fundamental and defining features.

[0006] One aspect of the present invention relates to an adhesive display strip; this display strip includes support points for commercial products. "Support points' in this case does not refer to a 'point' in its geometrical, mathematical sense, but to an area, stand or location occupying a certain surface area and intended to hold or receive a commercial product for display.

[0007] According to a feature of the present invention, the body of the adhesive display strip comprises a front side and a back side. The front side of the strip is the side of the strip intended to be seen by the public and which will directly hold the relevant products or packaging and the back side, as will be seen below, will be completely hidden in the operating position. The upper end of the strip shall further comprise support means for attaching, hanging or supporting said strip. From the lower end of the body of the strip to the upper end thereof, a score line shall be provided for the folding of the strip so that, when folded, the back side is concealed on the inside of the fold and the front side is exposed in the form of two opposing display columns, one at the front and the other at the rear; the back side shall also comprise fastening means to keep the strip in this folded, operating position while it is suspended by the aforementioned support means. Thus, the "operating" position of the display strip is considered to refer to the position of the display strip (or any of its components or portions) when said display strip is assembled and ready to receive containers and to be held by means of the support means thereof.

[0008] According to another feature of the display strip of the present invention, the score line divides the body of the strip into two halves, i.e. it divides the body into two substantially equal portions.

[0009] Another feature of the invention relates to the fact that the fastening means of the back side of the strip body to keep said body folded are or comprise adhesive dots or areas.

[0010] A further feature of the present invention relates to the fact that the adhesive areas on the back of the strip are distributed along the edges of the strip in a manner sufficient to ensure that the folding of the body of the strip is firmly maintained during handling and gripping by the support means.

[0011] In accordance with another feature of the invention, the support means for supporting the display strip comprise a hook coupled to the upper end of the body of the strip. This hook may be coupled to the upper end in different ways as long as it withstands the weight of the strip and the corresponding products to be displayed. It may also be coupled to only one of the two portions into which the body of the strip is divided by the score line or to both portions. In one preferred embodiment, said hook is "S"-shaped and the upper end of the strip body may comprise at least one hole for the coupling thereof by passing through one of the curved sections of the "S"; the upper end of the strip may also comprise, for example, two holes such that, when folding along the score line, the holes are aligned, overlapping, to pass the aforementioned hook therethrough.

[0012] According to a further feature of the present invention, the coupling of the hook to the upper end of the body of the strip shall be by means of a rotary fastening element. In one embodiment, this rotary fastening element shall provide a rotation of the hook in the plane of the body of the strip, so that the hook can be hidden under said body to facilitate handling and transport of the strips and protect against breakage or damage from impact or twisting.

[0013] According to an additional feature of the present invention, the support points for commercial products or packaging may take the form of windows or openings made in the body of the strip and with an adhesive film bonded to the back side of said body and which covers all the windows. In this way, that part of the adhesive film that shows through the corresponding window can be used for the gluing of the packaging to be displayed. In addition, said windows shall also be covered by individual sections or portions of an adhesive film on the front side of the body of the strip, and said individual sections or portions shall be removable to expose the adhesive film on the back side just prior to the fastening of the corresponding packaging.

[0014] The material of the body of the strip, among other features, preferably comprises recyclable material, and this recyclable material may be, in one embodiment, kraft paper. According to another feature, this material may also comprise plastic, as an alternative or in addition to the aforementioned option.

[0015] Finally, according to another feature, the score line is interrupted in at least one section of the path thereof. This interrupted section or sections include, instead of the corresponding rectilinear extension of the score line, cuts or die-cuts which form different figures or paths from said rectilinear extension, with the result that, when the body of the strip is folded, the said cuts or die-cuts will give rise to shapes which protrude from the (generally rectilinear) folding line of the body of the strip.Brief description of the drawings

[0016] For the purpose of supplementing the present description and aiding in the interpretation of the subsequent claims, the following figures are attached hereto, without limitation, in which: Figure 1 shows a front perspective view of a display strip object of the present invention. Figure 2 shows a detail of the display strip of Figure 1, viewed from the back side thereof. Figure 3 shows another view of the display strip of Figure 1 from the back side thereof. Figure 4 shows a view of the display strip of the previous figures, mounted in its operating position and with a number of commercial products as an example. Figure 5 shows another view of the display strip of the previous figures showing an embodiment of the support means thereof. Figure 6 shows another embodiment of the support means of a display strip of the present invention. Detailed description of the invention

[0017] In this section, a description of the invention will be given with reference to the figures above and focussing on some details not mentioned above.

[0018] Figure 1 is a perspective view of the front or front side (12) of the adhesive display strip (10) of the present invention. Said figure shows a strip body (11), in this case consisting of an elongated rectangle of cardboard or similar material. The strip body (11) comprises a score line (15) which, in the embodiment shown, divides said strip body (11) into two substantially equal halves. As can be seen, this front side (12) is ready to be exposed to the public with the advertising motifs and aesthetic details desired by the supplier of the products and which are to be displayed on the strip (10). One of the particularities of said strip (10) is that the body (11) can be folded or creased along the aforementioned score line (15) such that the two sections of the back side (13) (Figure 2) created by said line (15) are directly facing each other, with their surfaces in contact; these surfaces will be provided with fastening means which, in one of the preferred embodiments, are adhesive areas (16) which can be seen in Figure 3. In said Figure 3, the adhesive areas (16) are shown distributed along the edges of the back side (13) but any other suitable distribution to maintain the folding of the strip body (11) is feasible.

[0019] This doubles the usable area available for displaying sales units or packaging.

[0020] The fastening means are not limited to the aforementioned adhesive areas (16) and could, for example, also be (or at least comprise) a Velcro fastening system, for example, for more rigid strip body materials (11) and with a view to a possible reuse of the strip (10). As set out in the corresponding claim, any fastening means of the back side (13) in its folded position is included within the scope of the present invention in so far as it embodies the technical feature of maintaining the folding of the body (11) of the strip (10) in its operating position.

[0021] The folding or bending of the strip body (11), in addition to providing a double capacity to house the product units, correspondingly increases the strength of said strip (10) as it is formed by a double layer of material. At the same time, and if the material used is considered sufficiently strong to support the products for which it is intended, taking advantage of this double layer feature, a smaller thickness could be used in the body (11) of the strip (10).

[0022] Once the body (11) has been folded and the two halves of the back side (13) have been sufficiently joined by means of the adhesive areas (16), the strip (10) can be hung or supported via support means (14) provided at the upper end thereof, which, in one of the preferred embodiments, can be a hook (preferably, but not limited to, a metal hook), for example an "S"-shaped hook (Figures 4 and 5). The upper end of the body (11) may also have one or more holes for coupling said hook thereto through one of the end curves of the "S"; for example, two holes may be provided - one in each section created by the score line (15) - so that both holes are aligned when the body (11) is folded so that the above-mentioned curve of the "S" can be passed therethrough. The other end of said S-shaped hook is coupled to or hung from a bracket provided for that purpose or any suitable recess or groove provided in any item of furniture at the desired location for the strip (10).

[0023] In another preferred embodiment, the support means (14) for supporting the strip (10) comprise a hook rotatably fastened to the strip body (11) as shown in Figure 6. This rotating hook (rotating parallel to the plane of the body (11)) allows the concealing thereof behind one of the surfaces of the strip (10) in order to facilitate its transport and handling until final assembly.

[0024] The back side (13) of the body (11) of the strip comprises an adhesive film bonded thereto such that it covers the entirety of windows (18) made in the body (11). The portion of the adhesive side of said film showing through the windows (18) mentioned above is used to hold at least one of the packages to be displayed to the public, and this can be done on both halves of the front side (12) of the strip (10) thanks to the design with a score line (15). The buyer will simply have to pull the product out of said window (18). The strip (10) shall be supplied to the shop or supplier with individual adhesive film elements, for each of the windows (18), attached to the latter on the front side (12) of the strip body (11). These individual adhesive film elements are detachable with respect to each corresponding window (18) in order to protect that adhesive area intended for the respective packaging until fastening thereof.

[0025] Figure 4 shows an example of an adhesive display strip (10) of the present invention with different packaging or commercial products attached to the adhesive windows (18), after having removed the individual adhesive film elements from each window (18), and with said packaging on both sides of the strip (10), formed after folding thereof.

[0026] The material of the display strip (10) of the present invention is preferably a recycled and / or recyclable material. More preferably said material may be paper known as kraft, used, for example, in the packaging of various products. One of the advantages of this material is that it is 100 % renewable and also biodegradable in that it decomposes easily. The use of other materials, e.g. plastic, is not excluded for applications requiring higher strength and / or durability.

[0027] Although, in the embodiment shown, the score line (15) generates a division into two halves, this, as is clear from the claims, is not a requirement, and other types of segmentation with different shapes of the line (15) (assisted by additional cutting and punching) can be provided according to commercial or functional designs and requirements. With these cuts and die-cuts - alternating or not with straight sections of the score line (15) - it is possible to achieve profiles of the display strip (10) (precisely on the edge corresponding to the line (15)) that provide motifs or profiles related to the displayed product or simply shapes different from a straight line.

[0028] From the present description and the appended claims, the advantages of the invention in terms of ease of manufacture and assembly as well as in relation to its increased capacity for displaying packaging units or products become apparent. For example, the most common in the prior art display strips is the display of products in containers known as flow packs; with the present invention the display of any type of container can be contemplated, including rigid containers or at least containers of a rigidity greater than flow packs. The various illustrative details, provided in this description to assist in the interpretation of the invention, should not limit the actual scope of the invention, as stated in the claims.
