Description

[0001] MODULAR ROOM UNIT, CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INSTALLING A

[0002] MODULAR ROOM UNIT

[0003] FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The present invention relates to a modular room unit and more particularly to a modular room unit according to preamble of claim 1. The present invention further relates to a construction system and more particularly to a construction system according to preamble of claim 11. The present invention further relates to a method for installing a modular room unit and more particularly to a method for installing a modular room unit according to preamble of claim 16.

[0005] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0006] Modular room units are commonly known pre-manufactured modules which maybe assembled and installed as separate ready-made units into buildings. The modular room unit may be for example bathroom modules or kitchen modules or the like room modules defining a room space. The modular room units comprise a base slab for providing a floor structure for the modular room unit. The modular room unit further comprises walls which are supported to the base slab. The walls define the room space or room spaces of the modular room unit. The modular room unit may also comprise top structure for providing a ceiling structure for the modular room unit. The modular room unit is separate unit or entity which maybe installed into a building such that it defines a room space in the building.

[0007] The walls of the modular room unit may be formed as wall units or wall elements which are pre-manufactured elements. These wall units are supported to the base slab or on the base slab and secured to the base slab. The base slab may be a concrete slab made for the modular room unit.

[0008] The modular room units are typically pre-manufactured wet rooms or spaces such as bathrooms, toilets, or the like. These modular rooms comprise a waterproofing in the floor structure and in the walls for preventing moisture entering the structures of the modular room unit.

[0009] In the prior art the modular room units are usually supported on an intermediate floor of the building. Thus, the base slap of the modular room unit is supported on the intermediate floor as separate surface structure.

[0010] The disadvantage with the above mentioned prior art installation systems is that the intermediate floor of the building needs to be provided additional through holes for pipe and electrical installations for the modular room unit. These additional through holes needs to be sealed which generates additional work.

[0011] In some other prior art systems, the modular room units may be stacked so that an upper modular room unit is supported on a lower modular room unit.

[0012] One of the problems associated with the stacked modular room units is that floors of modular room units are at a different level than floors of the building due to tolerances of construction work.

[0013] In the prior art is known to construct a floor supported to load bearing structures of a building, the floor having an opening for the modular room unit and the modular room unit is supported to the floor. This means that the floor having an opening. One of the problems associated with the prior art solution is that it is complicate to construct the floor having an opening from floor elements as all the floor elements do not have a support due to the opening.
