Description

MOTOR VEHICLE HEADLIGHT, EQUIPPED WITH ELASTIC DEFORMATION INTERLOCKING PARTS PROVIDING A PIVOTING MOUNTING BETWEEN TWO MOUNTING PARTS OF THE HEADLIGHT. The present invention relates to the field of headlights for motor vehicles and, more particularly, to methods of pivoting between two parts of a headlight. More specifically, the present invention relates to such mounting methods employing interlocking elements respectively assigned to said parts of the headlight and cooperating with each other through elastic deformation for their pivoting assembly relative to one another. Motor vehicles are equipped for lighting, particularly of the roadway, and / or for their own signaling to other vehicles,of light beam generating projectors. Such a projector comprises one or more optical modules, each containing optical elements housed within a casing. These optical elements include, in particular, at least one light source and a reflector that generates light beams projected from the optical module along a predetermined projection axis. The casing is also equipped with means for mounting it to a support on board the vehicle. Depending on various configurations, such a support is commonly formed from a vehicle body panel onto which the casing is directly mounted, or it may also consist of an intermediate support interposed between the casing and such a body panel. It is common for the projector to include various parts that are movable relative to one another. For example,The reflector is commonly mounted to pivot inside the housing to adjust its tilt using an adjustment screw and to adjust the tilt of the projection axis. Alternatively, the optical module(s) may be mounted individually or collectively within the housing. The housing itself may also be mounted to pivot on the support. It is known to articulate the parts to be assembled using interlocking elements fitted to each other. For example, these elements may take the form of ball-joint articulation devices, the dimensions of which are determined, in particular, by the mass of one of the parts, which pivots about the pivot axis. Such a mass may make the use of such a ball-joint articulation device impractical due to its size. In another type of application,One of the interlocking members can be arranged as a receiving shaft for the other interlocking member arranged as a finger. The interlocking between the shaft 5 and the finger is achieved by radial elastic deformation of at least one of them, and cooperating shoulders respectively formed on the shaft and on the finger are placed in axial support to immobilize the shaft and the finger in translation relative to each other along the pivot axis. The present invention aims to offer an alternative to known methods for the pivotal assembly between two parts of a motor vehicle headlight by means of elastically deformable interlocking members combining a finger housed in a shaft. In this context, the present invention applies to a motor vehicle headlight comprising at least two parts assembled together by relative pivoting,by means of elastically deformable interlocking members associating a finger housed inside a shaft respectively integral with one or the other of said parts, and it also has as its object a bearing supporting one of said interlocking members. The motor vehicle headlight of the present invention comprises at least two parts assembled to each other in relative pivoting around a pivot axis. It will be understood 20 subsequently that the notion of "axial" is to be considered according to the direction of extension of this pivot axis. The assembly in relative pivoting of the parts to each other is achieved by means of an axial interlocking articulation device between two interlocking members with walls of revolution. Said interlocking members are respectively 25 arranged in a shaft integral with one of the parts and housing a finger integral with the other of the parts. In this context,It is specified that the faces of revolution of the barrel and the finger, oriented towards each other and called guide faces, typically provide a contact surface between the barrel and the finger, enabling the pivoting of the parts relative to each other. Furthermore, the wall of revolution of any one of the barrel and the finger, then designated as the "segmented interlocking member," is subdivided into a plurality of radially flexible segments. Such segmentation classically gives the segmented interlocking member the ability to deform elastically, at least radially, as a result of radial bearing of the barrel and the finger against each other. Moreover, the barrel and the finger each have cooperating axial stop members, providing relative translational positioning of the barrel and the finger along either of the two directions of extension of the pivot axis. According to the present invention,Such a projector is primarily recognizable in that at least one of the guide faces of the shaft and the finger, respectively, is defined by a convex generatrix. The convexity of the generatrix provides at least one axially median radial clearance between the guide faces of the shaft and the finger, respectively. This clearance limits the extent of the contact surface to contact zones located at the axial extremities of the guide faces. The notion of "axially median" is defined here as a location extending between the axial extremities of the shaft and / or finger, including, in particular, the contact zones between them. The articulated assembly between the interlocking members extends between two axial contact limits spaced apart along the pivot axis. An axially extended span is thus provided between the interlocking members.reinforcing the robustness of the articulation device without unduly increasing its size. It is therefore important to note that the specific provisions of the present invention 20 make it possible to obtain said axially extended reach with, nevertheless, a limited contact surface between the interlocking members, which can be adapted according to needs, particularly those identified based on the structural organization of the parts and their arrangement relative to each other. Indeed, such provisions have the advantage of avoiding making the interlocking between the shaft and the finger uncomfortable 25 for an operator by exerting, as is conventional, an axial thrust on at least one of the parts. Said axial thrust can be applied with a moderate pushing force due to the restriction of the contact surface between the interlocking members. Furthermore,The flexibility of the segments can be exploited to maintain the finger and the shaft 30 in close elastic contact with each other, both radially and axially, as described below. Such close elastic contact between the finger and the shaft has at least the advantage of preventing any assembly and / or operating play, particularly play that could allow vibratory movements of the parts relative to each other, which are known to generate noise and / or affect the precision and reliability of the relative pivoting movements between the parts. According to various features of the invention, taken alone or in combination, and relating to the projector as a whole or to the bearing supporting one of the interlocking members 5, it can be provided that: - the segments protect the guiding face of the segmented interlocking member,by exerting a radial thrust against the other interlocking member: said radial thrust generates a radial clamping force between the barrel and the finger, providing a tightly sliding contact between them; 10 - each of the segments is subdivided into at least two elementary segments arranged in axial extension of each other, separated by a body to which the elementary segments are jointly attached; in this case, it is possible that the elementary segments of the same segment may advantageously exhibit different characteristics of elastic radial deformability,in particular depending on the desired radial clamping force that they exert respectively against the other interlocking member; - the axial stops may be formed by the opposite axial faces of at least one flexible lug provided on any one of the barrel and the finger: the opposite axial faces of the lug bear axially against respectively the opposite axial faces of a groove receiving the lug, being provided in any other of the barrel and the finger, and the groove is at least partially annular along the maximum stroke provided in relative pivoting between the finger and the barrel; according to one embodiment, said at least one lug may be provided on any one of the segments of the segmented interlocking member, the segment provided with said lug advantageously conferring to the lug its flexibility by virtue of the ability of the segmented interlocking member to deform elastically at least radially; 25 It may be provided that at least one lug is formed of a flexible tab anchored on any one of the shaft and the finger, said tab being housed in the groove formed in the other of the shaft and the finger. Similarly, it is conceivable to arrange the cooperating axial faces of the lug and the groove so that the cooperating axial faces of a first set are oriented 30 perpendicular to the pivot axis and that the cooperating axial faces of a second set are inclined with respect to the pivot axis. In this case,The cooperating axial faces of the second set may be inclined at a slope potentially between 15° and 65°, and more particularly between 25° and 35°. The slope imparted to the 3048654 5 cooperating axial faces of the second set is to be assessed in relation to a possible inclination of the generatrices defining the walls of revolution of the finger and the shaft, respectively, giving them a possible general conical shape. Preferably, said at least one lug and the groove that receives it are arranged at the axially distal end of the interlocking device opposite its axially proximal end through which the finger is inserted into the shaft when they are joined together. In one embodiment, said at least one lug is provided on the shaft and said groove is provided in the finger. Conversely, and in another variant, said at least one lug is potentially provided on the finger.said groove being then formed in the shaft. According to features of the invention, at least two segments of the segmented interlocking member are preferably each provided with at least one lug, the other interlocking member then being provided with said groove jointly receiving said at least one lug from each of the two segments. It may be provided that the segmented interlocking member 15 consists of the finger or shaft, said groove being arranged in the other interlocking member. The number of segments comprising the segmented interlocking member is potentially between 2 and 6. It is understood, however, that the number of segments is advantageously adaptable according to their desired individual circumferential extent 20, according to the outside diameter of the finger and the diameter of the axial recess of the shaft, as well as according to the desired extent of the contact surface. For example,The segments of the segmented interlocking member are three in number, radially distributed at 120°. In this case, each segment of the segmented interlocking member is preferably equipped with at least one lug to balance the clamping force provided between the barrel and the finger by the interaction between the lugs and the groove. In another application example, the segments of the segmented interlocking member are four in number, radially distributed at 90°. In this case, preferably, two diametrically opposed segments of the segmented interlocking member are each equipped with at least one lug. Such arrangements provide balanced clamping force between the barrel and the finger, both radially and axially, without increasing the contact areas between the lugs and the groove. 3048654 6 In the two preceding examples, a regular distribution of segments was considered, but it will be understood that it will be possible to predict,Without departing from the context of the invention, an asymmetrical arrangement of the segments. It should be noted that the general orientation of the generatrices of the guide faces 5 of the shaft and the finger respectively is potentially substantially parallel to the orientation of the pivot axis. Such arrangements give said guide faces an overall cylindrical conformation, of course disregarding their convexity introduced by the notion of "substantially". It is, however, interesting that the variant in which the general orientation of the 10 generatrices of the guide faces of the shaft and the finger respectively is substantially inclined with respect to the orientation of the pivot axis. Such arrangements give said guide faces an overall conical conformation, of course disregarding their convexity introduced by the notion of "substantially". In this case,The generatrices defining the guide faces of the shaft and the finger are substantially inclined relative to the pivot axis by an angle that can be considered, for guidance purposes, between 5° and 30°. The value of the angle of inclination of the generatrices must be assessed, at least in relation to the axial extent of the articulation device and the convexity imparted to the generatrice defining the guide faces of the finger and the shaft. This taper of the guide faces facilitates the approach between the finger and the shaft for their fitting together by an operator, in particular by providing a free axial passage of the lug towards the groove with which the lug is brought into contact at the end of its relative travel between the finger and the shaft during their fitting together. Furthermore,Such a conical shape of the finger and shaft guide faces facilitates, if necessary, the demolding operations of the finger and shaft during their production by molding. Indeed, it is desirable that the convexity of the generatrices defining the shaft and finger guide faces respectively not hinder their demolding during manufacturing. The articulation device proposed by the present invention can be used, without major structural modification, for various applications aimed at assembling various projector parts together by relative pivoting. A part is understood to be a projector component comprising one or more elements fixed together. According to one implementation,The interlocking device can be interposed between a reflector component and a first pivoting mounting frame for the reflector within a projector housing. In this application, the reflector can be pivoted around its pivot axis by means of a reflector tilt adjustment screw. This tilt is necessary to adjust the projection axis of the light beams generated by the projector to avoid causing discomfort to other road users. In another implementation, the interlocking device can be interposed between, on the one hand, an optical module comprising at least one light source and a reflector, and on the other hand, a second pivoting mounting frame for the optical module within a projector housing. In this application,The optical module is potentially maneuverable by pivoting around the pivot axis, via a mechanism that can be either manually operated, such as by means of an adjusting screw, or motorized, advantageously controlled by a control system. In this case, at least one of the first and second chassis is potentially formed by the housing. According to yet another implementation, the mounting device can be interposed between a projector housing and a projector mounting frame on a support external to the projector. In this application, the frame is notably equipped with means for attaching it to the support, such as screw-type or snap-fit fastening means. The housing is then maneuverable by pivoting around the pivot axis.by means of an operating mechanism, either manually or motorized, the operation of which is advantageously dependent on control means. It should be noted that such a pivoting mounting of the housing on the frame can be used to adjust the inclination of a reflector housed inside the housing by means of an adjustment screw. It is clearly understood that the characteristics presented, according to which the shaft is part of a bearing comprising one of the parts and on which the other part is pivotally mounted around the pivot axis by means of the finger, could be applied in reverse, when the finger is formed on the bearing and the other part comprises the shaft. Other characteristics, details, and advantages of the present invention will become clearer upon reading the description given below by way of example.in relation to the 5 different embodiments of the invention illustrated in the figures of the accompanying plates, in which plates: - Figure 1 is a perspective illustration of an embodiment of a motor vehicle headlight according to the present invention, - Figure 2 is an exploded perspective detail of the motor vehicle headlight 10 shown in Figure 1, illustrating a device for articulating two parts of the headlight, - Figure 3 is an axial cross-sectional illustration of the articulation device shown in Figure 2. 15 In Figure 1, a motor vehicle headlight comprises a housing 1 containing optical elements that generate light beams and including at least one light source 2 and a reflector 3. In the illustrated embodiment,The projector is more specifically a projector of the type commonly called a "fog light". The light beams generated by the projector are projected along an axis of projection Ap out of the housing 1 on one of its faces, through a projection lens 4 shown removed from the housing 1 to reveal the optical elements 2, 3 of the projector. The housing 1 is articulated around a pivot axis A to allow adjustment of the inclination of the projection axis Ap of the light beams by tilting the reflector 3. For this purpose, an articulation device 5 is interposed between two parts of the projector 25, respectively consisting of the housing 1 and a frame 6 for fixing the projector to an external support.such as a bodywork element of the motor vehicle, in particular consisting of a front bumper. The frame 6 includes a bearing 7 equipped with a receiving shaft 8 along the pivot axis A of a finger 9 fixed to the housing 1. Thanks to this arrangement of the articulation device 5, 3, 0, combining the shaft 8 and the finger 9, each extending axially along the pivot axis A, the housing 1 is able to pivot on the frame 6 around the pivot axis A, by turning an adjusting screw 10. For this purpose, the frame 6 includes arms 11 fixed to the bearing 7, said arms 11 being used to fix the frame 6 to the support and to receive the adjusting screw 10. The adjusting screw 10 is rotatably mounted on the frame 6 and cooperates with an auxiliary element 12, consisting, for example, of a nut, fixedly mounted on the housing 1. The operator's adjustment of the screw (5 to 10) then causes the housing (1) to tilt around the pivot axis A.with the effect of tilting the reflector 3 and orienting the projection axis Ap of the light beams along a setpoint axis. In Figure 2, the shaft 8 and the finger 9 are shown in exploded perspective along the pivot axis A and respectively constitute cooperating interlocking elements 10 providing the articulated connection between the housing 1 and the frame 6 around the pivot axis A. In the illustrated embodiment, the shaft 8 forms a segmented interlocking element elastically deformable radially with respect to the pivot axis A, the segments 13 of the shaft 8 being four in number and radially distributed over 90°. Such segmentation of the shaft 8 is conventionally achieved by providing axial slots 14 along its wall of revolution 15. It should be noted that the width of such slots 14 is potentially variable between two neighboring slots 14, to limit, as needed, the contact surface between the shaft 8 and the finger 9 according to their circumference,as illustrated by way of example in Figure 2. In the illustrated embodiment, the bearing 7 of the articulation device 5 has a proximal axial end through which the finger 9 is inserted into the shaft 8 during their assembly, and a distal axial end through which the finger 9 emerges from the shaft 8 as a result of the shaft 8 and finger 9 being fitted together. The distal and proximal ends of the shaft 8 are each individually segmented, being connected to each other by an axially median annular body 15, such as, in the illustrated example, a body 15 arranged in a ring. Each of the segments 13 of the shaft 8 is thus composed of two elementary segments (13a, 13b in Figure 3) separated by the body 15,and we can define a proximal segment 13a and a distal segment 13b which extend axially respectively to the proximal and distal ends of the shaft 8. Such arrangements allow the elementary segments 30 to be extended individually axially, with the advantage of providing, as needed, an axial separation of the distal and proximal contact zones between the finger 9 and the shaft 8, thus conferring robustness adapted to the articulation device 5. 3048654 10 Furthermore, the individual subdivision of the segments 13 into elementary segments 13a and 13b allows, if necessary, for said elementary segments 13a, 13b to have their own characteristics of radial elastic deformation, which makes it possible to individualize the radial clamping force exerted on the finger 9 by each of the elementary segments 13a, 13b of the same segment 13 of the shaft 8. Referring further to Figure 3,The inner face of the wall of revolution of the shaft 8 and the outer face of the wall of revolution of the finger 9, oriented towards each other, form pivoting guide faces for the finger 9 inside the shaft 8. However, the desired axial extension of the articulation device 5, which gives it its robustness, results in a significant extent of these guide faces. It is therefore desirable to provide radial clamping of the shaft 8 against the finger 9 by means of the elastically deformable segments of the shaft 8, in order to, on the one hand, reinforce the interlocking assembly between the finger 9 and the shaft 8 and take into account the manufacturing clearances of each of these elements, and on the other hand, to slightly stiffen the pivoting movement of the finger 9 inside the shaft 8. Given the extent of the guide faces, it is useful to restrict, if necessary, the contact surface between the shaft 8 and the finger 9.either in isolation or in combination with the aforementioned provisions relating to ancillary means for limiting the contact surface between the shaft 8 and the finger 9 by widening at least one of the slots 14. 20 For this purpose, the main means for limiting the contact surface between the shaft 8 and the finger 9 are formed by a convex arrangement of the generatrix G defining the guide face of the shaft 8. A radial, axially median clearance 16 is thus provided between the shaft 8 and the finger 9, the contact surface between the shaft 8 and the finger 9 then being limited to contact zones S1 and S2 (illustrated in bold lines in Figure 3) provided respectively at the distal and proximal ends of the guide faces of the shaft 8 and the finger 9. From a predefined convex conformation of said generatrix G as a function of the desired axial extent of the articulation device 5, which gives it its robustness,The radial clamping force exerted by the shaft 8 against the finger 9 can be easily adjusted as needed. It is understood that a hollow shape can be created substantially at the center of the contact surface of the finger 9, in combination or not with a convex shape on the shaft as just described, by a convex arrangement of the generatrix defining the finger's guiding face. The function here again is to create an axially median radial clearance. The guiding faces of the shaft 8 and the finger 9 are potentially each defined by a generatrix G oriented substantially parallel to the pivot axis A, giving said guiding faces an overall cylindrical shape. However, as illustrated, it is preferable to incline the generatrices G defining the guiding faces transversely to the pivot axis A, at an angle B indicatively between 5° and 30°.depending in particular on the axial extent of the articulation device 5 and the radial dimension of the clearance 16 provided between the guide faces of the finger 9 and the shaft 8, respectively. Furthermore, the articulation device 5 incorporates flexible lugs 17, 17' housed 10 in a groove 18 that is at least partially annular, to axially immobilize the finger 9 and the shaft 8 relative to each other without hindering the relative pivoting between the shaft 8 and the finger 9. The annular nature of the groove 18, at least partially depending on the desired maximum pivoting stroke between the parts 1, 6, allows the cooperation between the lugs 17, 17' and the groove 18 to be maintained despite the relative pivoting 15 between the finger 9 and the shaft 8. In the illustrated embodiment, and referring more particularly to Figures 2 and 3, such spurs 17,17' are provided at the distal ends of two diametrically opposed segments 13 of the shaft 8. The elastically deformable nature of the segments 13 is exploited to give the lugs 17, 17' their flexible character. The lugs 20, 17, 17' and the groove 18 each have an axial profile comprising two opposing axial faces. The cooperating axial faces of the finger 9 and the shaft 8 of a first set 19 are preferably arranged at their respective distal ends, oriented perpendicular to the pivot axis A. The cooperating axial faces of the finger 9 and the shaft 8 of a second set 20 are inclined with respect to the pivot axis A along a given slope C. 25 Such a slope C is notably between 15° and 65°, and more specifically, as an indication, is notably between 25° and 35° depending in particular on the conicity of the finger 9 and the shaft 8, depending on the effective range of the axial contact zone between the axial faces of the second set 20,and depending on the elasticity conferred to the lug 17. Obviously, it should be considered that the illustrated embodiment is given by way of example. Indeed, an advantage of the present invention is to give the articulation device 5 a structure transposable to any assembly pivoting around a pivot axis A between two parts of the projector, regardless of the mass and / or size of said parts and regardless of the orientation of the pivot axis A relative to the projection axis Ap of the light beams outside the projector. Indeed, the segmented interlocking member can be chosen to be either the finger 9 or the shaft 8 depending on the structure and arrangement of the parts 5 relative to each other and the resulting constraints to organize the articulation device 5 in accordance with the present invention. Similarly, said at least one lug 17 and the groove 18 can be provided interchangeably on the finger 9 and on the shaft 8 depending on the organizational constraints of the articulation device 5 in its application context. The preceding description clearly explains how the invention makes it possible to achieve 10 the objectives it has set for itself and in particular to propose a bearing forming a framework for the pivoting assembly of two parts of a projector which offers a compromise in such an assembly between: -) obtaining a robust assembly of the parts together, including in the case where the finger and the shaft assembled together are potentially subjected to 15 significant forces during operation, -) obtaining precise and reliable relative pivoting between the finger and the shaft, as well as optimized durability of the assembly obtained between the parts together to avoid projector maintenance operations, -) obtaining ease for an operator to perform, from a moderate effort, 2 0 the interlocking by elastic deformation between the barrel and the finger during the assembly of the parts together, -) obtaining the smallest possible footprint of the barrel and the finger placed in cooperation, such footprint having at best a limited effect on the overall footprint of the projector, 2 5 -) a simple structure and the least costly possible to obtain for the projector.,
