Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Device for packaging and presenting medical equipment TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The field of the invention is that of the packaging of medical equipment.
[0002] More specifically, the invention relates to a device for packaging and presenting medical equipment, in particular surgical equipment.
[0003] The invention finds applications in particular in surgery, in particular in ophthalmic surgery. STATE OF THE ART
[0004] Techniques for packaging and presenting individual medical equipment, or grouping a small number of medical equipment together, are known from the prior art.
[0005] Plastic packaging is known in particular, in the form of a shell generally in the shape of the packaged medical equipment, closed by a cover stuck around the edge of the shell.
[0006] However, such techniques have numerous drawbacks, particularly when used in surgical procedures.
[0007] Indeed, when a large number of medical materials are necessary for carrying out a surgical procedure, their individual packaging or in groups of small numbers involves a complex, time-consuming and costly logistical organization, due to the management of stocks of multiple products, the traceability of each of the medical materials, and due to the operations of collecting all the materials necessary before a surgical procedure.
[0008] Another disadvantage of such solutions is the significant production of waste, linked to the multiplicity of packaging used. Although technically feasible, recycling all or part of the packaging waste is not a fully satisfactory solution, and reducing waste at source is preferable. In addition, the recycling of medical waste comes up against regulatory constraints and the need for a complex sorting system, differentiating medical waste according to its nature, which is synonymous with costs linked to the establishment and organization of such a system. Finally, the multiplicity of packaging is financially costly for a user, due to the high unit price of each package, but also for society, due to the significant demand on waste collection and recovery systems, financed by the community.
[0009] Current techniques also have a disadvantage in terms of security. medical, the multiplicity of packaging, and therefore of handling, leading to risks of a lack of asepsis. Indeed, the opening and handling of packaging, which is generally not entirely aseptic, would in principle require a new disinfection of the hands of the surgical staff before the surgical procedure. To overcome this problem, these operations are generally carried out by nursing staff. This results in an operation that is costly in terms of personnel, and therefore costly financially, because it requires the presence of two medical staff, whereas the complexity of the operation would only require the presence of one staff member. It also results in the nursing staff being assigned to a task with low added value, which represents a significant disadvantage in terms of personnel resource management, particularly in a hospital environment.
[0010] Thus, none of the current techniques can simultaneously meet all the required needs, namely to propose a technique for packaging and presenting medical equipment which is not very restrictive in terms of logistics, which is economical and ecological, and which offers high medical safety, particularly in terms of asepsis. Statement of the invention
[0011] The present invention aims to remedy all or part of the drawbacks of the state of the art cited above.
[0012] To this end, the invention relates to a device for packaging and presenting medical equipment, comprising a shell and a protective cover adapted to be fixed to the periphery of an upper edge of said shell, said protective cover comprising an adhesive mass on an inner face, said adhesive mass being adapted to removably fix a first medical equipment to said cover, said shell comprising a presentation area for at least a second medical equipment, as well as a reservoir adapted to contain an antiseptic solution.
[0013] Thanks to these provisions, a device is obtained for storing and presenting in a unified manner a first and second medical material. The first medical material can be presented next to the first medical material when the cover is removed at least partially from the shell, facilitating its gripping and preserving the asepsis of the material, without however having to increase the dimensions of the device. These elements, as well as the presence of a reservoir adapted to contain an antiseptic solution, combined in a clever and innovative manner in a single assembly, facilitate all the steps prior to a medical operation, that is to say handling, storage, preparation, etc. but also the steps of the medical operation itself, by providing a solution improving the speed of execution and reducing errors, and by limiting external interventions to the surgical staff performing the operation.
[0014] According to a preferred embodiment, said tank is detachable from said shell.
[0015] Thus, it is possible to arrange the tank as desired, depending on the circumstances of use, but also to separate a step of filling the tank from the other steps of preparing the operation, this step being able to be taken care of by nursing staff, for example.
[0016] According to a preferred embodiment, the presentation area of at least one second medical equipment comprises at least one storage depression in the shape of all or part of the second medical equipment presented, said storage depression having at least one gripping recess, arranged at its periphery at the level of a gripping area of the medical equipment, the at least one gripping recess having a depth greater than the depth of the storage depression.
[0017] In this way, thanks to the storage depressions, the second medical equipment is stored and held in place securely, limiting any movement of the equipment during handling of the kit comprising the device and the medical equipment. It is also easier to fill the kit, each second medical equipment having a designated storage depression, and thus making it possible to obtain standardized kits with an always identical arrangement of the medical equipment.
[0018] Thanks to the gripping recesses, it is possible to further facilitate the gripping of medical equipment, by reclining the latter by pressing at the area having said recess. In this way, asepsis defects are further reduced, and the speed of execution of the surgical staff is increased.
[0019] The storage depressions may have different depths from each other, and the gripping recesses may have different depths from each other, depending on the storage depression at the periphery of which they are arranged and the specific needs associated with the medical equipment that will be placed therein.
[0020] According to a preferred embodiment, said shell comprises storage depressions for: a pair of surgical gloves, one or more sterile compresses, a blepharostat, a limbal distance marker, a syringe needle, a syringe.
[0021] Thus, the device is perfectly suited to performing an ophthalmic operation in complete autonomy.
[0022] According to a preferred embodiment, in which the storage depression for a pair of gloves is arranged in a first storage area, the storage depression for one or more sterile compresses as well as said reservoir are arranged in a second storage area, the storage depression for the blepharostat and the storage depression for the limbic marker and the depression storage depressions for the syringe needle are arranged in a third storage area, and the storage depression for the syringe is arranged in a fourth storage area, said storage areas being aligned in this order on said shell.
[0023] In this way, thanks to the particular order of arrangement of the zones, the medical materials are arranged in an order of use during the surgical operation, facilitating the organization, reducing the risk of handling errors and asepsis defects, and increasing the speed of execution during the operation.
[0024] According to a preferred embodiment, the shell is made of molded thermoplastic material.
[0025] In this way, the shell is obtained in a particularly simple and inexpensive manner.
[0026] According to a preferred embodiment, the first medical material is a sterile field.
[0027] Thus, a sterile field, generally presented in a flat manner, folded in several layers, can be fixed on the device without additional bulk, while being very easy to use in preparation for a surgical operation.
[0028] According to a preferred embodiment, said protective cover is adapted to be removably fixed on a first portion of said perimeter, and to be permanently fixed on a second portion of said perimeter.
[0029] Thus, it is ensured that the cover does not detach entirely from the shell when opening the kit comprising the medical equipment and the device according to the invention, which makes it possible to keep the first medical equipment close to the shell, and also limits the number of manipulations to grasp it, which has a positive impact on the asepsis of the first medical equipment.
[0030] The invention also relates to a medical equipment kit comprising a packaging and presentation device according to the invention, and a first medical equipment fixed to said cover, and at least a second medical equipment arranged in said presentation area.
[0031] According to a preferred embodiment, the kit further comprises an antiseptic solution contained in said reservoir.
[0032] In this way, the solution is packaged at the same time as the medical material presented in the kit, thus limiting the number of steps necessary to prepare for a surgical operation, due to the elimination of any step of filling the reservoir immediately before the operation. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
[0033] Other advantages, aims and particular characteristics of the present invention res will emerge from the following non-limiting description of at least one particular embodiment of the devices and methods which are the subject of the present invention, with reference to the appended drawings, in which: • [Fig.l] is a schematic perspective view of the device according to the invention, the cover being partially removed, • [Fig.2] is a schematic perspective view of the medical equipment kit according to the invention before its use, • [Fig. 3] is a schematic perspective view of the medical equipment kit according to the invention during its use. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0034] The present description is given without limitation, each characteristic of an embodiment being able to be combined with any other characteristic of any other embodiment in an advantageous manner.
[0035] It should be noted, from now on, that the figures are not to scale.
[0036] As shown in [Fig.l], a device 100 for packaging and presenting medical equipment includes a 110 shell.
[0037] The shell 110 is for example made of thermoplastic material molded to the desired shape, depending on the intended application and the medical equipment to be packaged. However, any other material that can be shaped to the desired shape, and having properties that guarantee the asepsis of the device 100 can be considered. Thus, in particular, plastic and metal materials are to be preferred, while cellulosic or organic materials are to be avoided.
[0038] As can be seen in [Fig.l], a preferred shape of the shell 110 is a generally rectangular parallelepiped shape. According to one example, the length of the shell 110 is approximately 20 centimeters, its width is approximately 10 centimeters, and its height is approximately 3 centimeters.
[0039] The upper edge of the shell 110 is provided with a horizontal rim of the order of a few millimeters to a few centimeters in width. In a sealed state of the device 100, a protective cover 120 is fixed on the periphery of the upper edge of the shell 110, preferably by gluing or by welding, as shown in [Fig. 2],
[0040] In an open state of the device 100, the cover 120 can be partially or entirely detached from the shell 110, as can be seen in [Fig. 3].
[0041] For example, in the case of gluing the cover 120, in the case where partial detachment is desired, it is possible to choose an adhesive mass with an adhesive power allowing manual detachment on a first adhesive portion of the periphery of the upper edge of the shell 110, the cover 120 being fixed in a manner removable on the first adhesive portion, and to choose an adhesive mass with an adhesive power not allowing manual detachment on a second adhesive portion of the periphery of the upper edge of the shell 110, the cover 120 being permanently fixed on the second adhesive portion. It is therefore understood that the adhesive power on the second portion is greater than the adhesive power on the first portion. In particular when the shape of the device 100 is generally a rectangular parallelepiped, the first portion corresponds to three sides of the upper edge and the second portion corresponds to a fourth side of the upper edge.
[0042] In the case of welding, the procedure is analogous by defining a portion of weld of low resistance, and a portion of weld of higher resistance.
[0043] Such partial attachment of the cover 120 is particularly advantageous in the case where the protective cover 120 comprises an adhesive mass 121 on an inner face 122, that is to say the face which is turned towards the inside of the shell 110 when the device 100 is closed, as shown in [Fig.l]. The adhesive mass 121 is chosen so as to allow the removable attachment of a sterile field 123, generally presented in a folded form. When the device 100 is open, the cover 120 remains attached to the shell 110 by the second adhesive portion. In this way, the cover 120 remains secured to the shell 110 once the device 100 is open, thus eliminating the risk of the cover 120 being displaced in an undesirable manner. Thus, the sterile field 123 fixed on the inner face 122 is juxtaposed with the shell 110 when the device 100 is open, allowing medical personnel to grasp the sterile field 123 in a simple and safe manner, while respecting asepsis. In addition, it is thus not necessary to lift the sterile field 123 to access the medical equipment, reducing the risk of sterility failure during handling.
[0044] The shell 110 comprises a presentation area 111 for medical equipment, as well as a reservoir 112, adapted to contain an antiseptic solution, such as a povidone-iodine solution for example. In particular, the reservoir 112 generally takes the form of a cup. The reservoir 112 can be directly molded in the shell 110, or be an added part fixed in the shell 110, for example using an adhesive. The reservoir 112 can also be detachable from the shell 110, so as to provide better access to the antiseptic solution, if necessary. The tank 112 can for example be detachable by peeling off, when it is an added part, or by cutting, if the tank 112 is integrated into the shell 110. In the latter case, it is possible to provide pre-cut perforations in order to allow manual detachment, without tools, of the tank 112.
[0045] The medical equipment presentation area 111 may be composed of a plurality of generically shaped compartments, such as a rectangular shape, in order to separate the medical materials from each other. However, it is advantageous for the presentation area 111 to include one or more storage depressions 113 in the shape of all or part of the medical material presented, as shown in [Fig.l].
[0046] The storage depressions 113 take the form of molds in the shape of the medical equipment to be presented. In this way, it can be ensured that the medical equipment is not moved during handling of the device 100 and its contents. It can also be ensured that the medical equipment is always arranged in the same predefined orientation, chosen so as to allow the quickest and safest possible gripping of the different equipment.
[0047] It is advantageous for all or part of the storage depressions 113 to have a gripping recess 114, arranged at their periphery at a gripping zone of the medical equipment, as shown in [Fig.l]. In this way, a surgical staff can grasp medical equipment simply and quickly, by lightly pressing on the medical equipment at the gripping zone, which has the effect of slightly lifting the medical equipment at its opposite end, facilitating its gripping by this opposite end. In order to achieve such a function, it is particularly advantageous for a gripping recess 114 to have a depth greater than the depth of the storage depression 113 at the periphery of which it is arranged, in order to obtain a lever effect when pressing on the medical equipment.Such a configuration has the effect of allowing faster entry of the material, and reduces the risk of sterility or asepsis errors.
[0048] In particular, the device 100 is configured to contain ophthalmic surgery medical equipment. As shown in [Fig.l], the shell 110 then comprises storage depressions 113 for: a pair of surgical gloves, one or more sterile compresses, a blepharostat, a limbal distance marker, a syringe needle, a syringe. These materials constitute a basic set used during any ophthalmic surgical operation, and allow surgical personnel to perform a surgical procedure completely independently.
[0049] Furthermore, it is particularly advantageous that the storage depressions 113 are arranged according to a particular pattern, as illustrated in Figures 1 to 3. The storage depression 113 for a pair of gloves is arranged in a first storage area 141, the storage depression 113 for one or more sterile compresses as well as the reservoir 112 are arranged in a second storage area 142, the storage depression 113 for the blepharostat and the storage depression 113 and the storage depression 113 for the syringe needle for the limbal distance marker are arranged in a third storage area 143, and the storage depression 113 for the syringe is arranged in a fourth storage area 143. storage 144, the storage areas 141, 142, 143 and 144 being aligned in this order on the hull 110.
[0050] In other words, the storage depressions 113 are arranged according to an order of use of the medical equipment, so as to facilitate the organization of the surgical staff during the medical procedure and to limit asepsis defects. Indeed, the following steps naturally follow from the particular arrangement described above: putting on gloves, disinfecting, holding the eye, injecting a pharmaceutical product.
[0051] In particular, the storage depression 113 for the pair of gloves is in the form of a vertical slot into which the gloves are slid, so that they can be easily grasped before the medical procedure.
[0052] The remaining storage depressions 113 generally take the shape of the medical equipment which they are intended to contain, as can be seen in Figures 1 to 3.
[0053] The invention also relates to a kit 200 of medical equipment comprising a packaging and presentation device 100, and a first medical equipment fixed to said cover, such as a sterile field 123, at least one second medical equipment arranged in said presentation area, such as a pair of surgical gloves, one or more sterile compresses, a blepharostat, a limbal distance marker, a syringe needle, a syringe.
[0054] Before use, such a kit 200 is sealed by the cover 120, and makes it possible to store, transport and make available all of the medical equipment in a grouped manner. During use, the cover 120 is removed entirely or partially so as to allow the medical equipment to be grasped in the shell 110, and on the inner face 122 of the cover 120.
[0055] It may be provided, according to a first variant, that the antiseptic solution is not contained in the kit 200, and is only poured into the reservoir 112 at the time of use of the kit, once the cover 120 has been removed.
[0056] According to a second variant, the antiseptic solution is contained in said reservoir 112 from the outset and thus forms part of the kit 200. In such a case, the cover 120 is fixed, for example by gluing or welding, on the periphery of the reservoir 112, so as to isolate the reservoir 120 from the rest of the shell 110, and thus prevent the antiseptic solution from spreading into the kit 200.
