Description

Title of the invention: HINGE WITH OFFSET JOINT. FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to hinged hinges for creating a hinge between two bar guardrail elements such as balustrades, railings, barriers, gates, wickets, etc.

[0002] The present invention aims to constitute a hinge with an offset articulation which is fixed by pinching a bar of said body station element. STATE OF THE PRIOR ART

[0003] In the remainder of the description, the word “barrier” will be used to designate indifferently any element of guardrail with bars such as balustrades, barriers, gates, wickets.

[0004] Fixing hinges are known which make it possible to create a hinge between two barriers, such as those of documents US20170268266, US20130219664, US20120023706, US8307513B1, US20080127565A1, or even US5611114A.

[0005] Some of these hinges are offset, which makes it possible to connect barriers with a greater rotation amplitude by bypassing possible sources of obstruction (handles, tops of railings, etc.) which can hinder rotation. All the solutions described are nevertheless long and complex to implement on pre-existing barriers and unsuitable for different barrier formats. In particular, hinges with direct screwing into a barrier bar require a solid bar in which a suitable thread is made. These solutions are difficult to adapt to different bar shapes (round bars for example) or which are not solid (hollow tubes for example). In addition, screwing damages the bar and is generally not durable, because it recovers the forces exerted on the hinge when the barrier is moved, which very quickly damages the thread made in the bar.A damaged thread causes short-term play in the normally fixed position of the hinge. This play causes the screwing of the hinge onto the bar to gradually become a ball joint, becoming more pronounced until the hinge is undone. Rust spots and sources of squeaking are also caused throughout the damage to the screwing when it is done directly into the bar. Furthermore, a thread cannot be redone in the same place once damaged, which requires moving the hinge, and therefore drilling the bar again, the first abandoned thread becoming a source of flaking of the surface paint and unsightly rust. especially in combination with rainwater runoff. Above all, this rust point is through, which ends up wearing down the barrier more structurally. Summary of the invention

[0006] The invention aims to overcome all the aforementioned drawbacks and to propose an offset hinge which does not require tapping in the bar of the barrier on which the hinge is to be fixed. It has advantages of speed of installation, simplicity because a simple drilling is sufficient, and durability and reliability once installed, and this over a wide range of barrier bar dimensions.

[0007] In view of the above, the invention relates to an offset hinge comprising:

[0008] - a first L-shaped support formed from a first main wall having a bore and of a first secondary wall having, opposite the junction between said main and secondary walls of said first L-shaped support, two coaxial tubular elements extending parallel to said junction,

[0009] - a second L-shaped support formed from a second main wall having a bore and a second secondary wall having, opposite the injunction between said main and secondary walls of said second L-shaped support, a third tubular element located between the two tubular elements of the first L-shaped support and connected thereto,

[0010] - a smooth cylindrical rod inserted entirely into the three tubular elements conxinux so as to form the axis of rotation of a pivot connection between the first and second L-shaped supports by coaxially constraining the three coaxial tubular elements,

[0011] - a first clamp body and a second clamp body each having a tapping,

[0012] - a first threaded rod passing through the first drilling and the tapping of the first clamp body,

[0013] - a second threaded rod passing through the second drilling and the tapping of the second clamp body,

[0014] The first and second threaded rods being arranged and adapted so as to be able to cooperate with the threads to increase or decrease the distance that there is respectively between the first main wall and the first clamp body and between the second main wall and the second clamp body.

[0015] Preferably, the first "L" shaped support is of the same width as the second L shaped support, and the first main wall is substantially identical to the second main wall, and the first clamp body is substantially identical to the second clamp body.

[0016] For example, at least one tapping is made in a chimney projecting from the first or from the second clamp body.

[0017] Advantageously, at least one of the first threaded rod and the second threaded rod comprises a recessed screw head.

[0018] According to one embodiment, at least one opening is conical and complementary to the imprinted screw head so that said imprinted screw head is flush with a first surface of the first main wall located opposite the first clamp body or with a second surface of the second main wall located opposite the second clamp body.

[0019] In one embodiment, a tubular spacer is inserted between the third tubular element and the cylindrical rod so as to protect the cylindrical rod during rotations of the third tubular element.

[0020] Advantageously, the cylindrical rod is removably mounted and held relative to the two tubular elements and held fixed by two removable headless screws passing through said two tubular elements of the first L-shaped support at two tapped holes in said two tubular elements, said headless screws being further screwed into these two tapped holes while holding the cylindrical rod in position thanks to the two impressions of the screws, the two impressions being provided in the cylindrical rod.

[0021] The hinge may further provide that the second L-shaped support can be assembled or disassembled relative to the first L-shaped support via the removably mounted cylindrical rod, and the cylindrical rod being mounted either so as to have a concave angle formed between the second main wall and the second secondary wall which can, in at least one angular position of the second L-shaped support among its successive positions during a rotation around the cylindrical rod, be opposite a concave angle of the first L-shaped support formed between the first main wall and the first secondary wall, or so that these two angles are always opposite each other regardless of the angular position of the second support relative to the cylindrical rod.

[0022] Preferably, the first and second clamps each have a concave U-shaped shape suitable for receiving a bar between said first and second clamps and respectively the first and second walls, said bar being a cylindrical bar extending parallel to the cylindrical rod and having a cross-section which is parallelepipedal or ellipsoidal.

[0023] The invention also relates to a hinge in which the first support is assembled on a first bar pierced with a hole in which the first threaded rod is inserted, said first bar being furthermore clamped between the first main wall and the first clamp and the second support is assembled on a second bar pierced with a hole in which the first threaded rod is inserted, said second bar being further clamped between the second main wall and the second clamp. [0031] [fig.7] represents another embodiment of the hinge suitable for the square bars.

[0032] [fig.8] represents another embodiment of the hinge suitable for the round bars. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

[0033] [fig.l] illustrates a hinge of the invention. It comprises two L-shaped supports 50,60 linked in a pivot connection by a smooth cylindrical rod 17 inserted entirely into the openings 33 of the three coaxial tubular elements 15,23 of the L-shaped supports 50,60.

[0034] Figures 1 to 4 show how the hinge 1 is configured and how to install it on a barrier 3,7 having at least one bar 5,9.

[0035] The first L-shaped support 50 is formed of a first main wall 11 having a bore 41 and a first secondary wall 12 having, opposite the first junction 55 between said main 11 and secondary 12 walls of said first L-shaped support 50, two coaxial tubular elements 15 extending parallel to said junction 55.

[0036] The second L-shaped support 60 is formed of a second main wall 19 having a bore 41 and a second secondary wall 20 having, opposite the second junction 65 between said main 19 and secondary 20 walls of said second L-shaped support 60, a third tubular element 23 located between the two tubular elements 15 of the first L-shaped support 50 and coaxial therewith.

[0037] The hinge 1 further has two clamp bodies 13, 21 each having a thread 43, so that threaded rods 25, 27 passing through the L-shaped supports 50, 60 to the clamp bodies 13, 21, make it possible to grip a drilled bar 5, 9 placed between a support 50, 60 and its clamp body 13, 21 to hold the hinge 1 on said drilled bar 5, 9 without the need for threading on it.

[0038] Thus, the hinge 1 comprises a smooth cylindrical rod 17 inserted entirely into the three coaxial tubular elements 15, 23, without protruding axially, and so as to form the axis of rotation of a pivot connection between the first and second L-shaped supports 50, 60 by coaxially constraining the three coaxial tubular elements 15, 23.

[0039] Smooth washers 37 may be provided between the three coaxial tubular elements 15, 23 to protect them from rubbing against each other. The washers 37 are made of smooth material, for example smooth plastic.

[0040] Thus, the hinge 1 comprises a first clamp body 13 and a second clamp body 21, each having a thread 43.

[0041] Each thread 43 is preferably centered on the clamp bodies 13, 21, to maximize holding in position.

[0042] Furthermore, the threads 43 and the projecting chimneys can be made on an excess thickness of material 45, 47, which makes it possible to increase the capacity for receiving the threaded rods 25, 27.

[0043] For example, for this purpose, at least one thread 43 is made in a chimney projecting from the first or from the second clamp body 13, 21.

[0044] Thus, the hinge 1 comprises a first threaded rod 25 passing through the first bore 41 and the tapping 43 of the first clamp body 13, and a second threaded rod 27 passing through the second bore 41 and the tapping 43 of the second clamp body 21.

[0045] The first and second threaded rods 25, 27 are arranged and adapted so as to be able to cooperate with the threads 43 to increase or decrease the distance that there is respectively between the first main wall 11 and the first clamp body 13 and between the second main wall 19 and the second clamp body 21.

[0046] Thus, the first and second threaded rods 25, 27 make it possible to grip a bar 5, 9, and therefore to hold the hinge 1 to it, whatever its shape, and without the need for tapping, whether the bar 5, 9 is solid or hollow tubular.

[0047] This eliminates the need for tapping in the bar 5.9, which poses all the aforementioned problems.

[0048] Preferably, the first L-shaped support 50 is of the same width as the second L-shaped support 60.

[0049] The first main wall 11 may be substantially identical to the second main wall 19, so as to standardize the manufacture of these elements of the hinge 1.

[0050] Similarly, the first clamp body 13 is substantially identical to the second clamp body 21.

[0051] Advantageously, at least one of the first threaded rod 25 and the second threaded rod 25 has a screw head with imprint 39.

[0052] The imprint is for example hexagonal, flat, star-shaped, cruciform, etc. to adapt to conventional tools.

[0053] Thus, in the event of loosening due to handling of the barrier 5, 9, it is sufficient to tighten the threaded rods 25, 27, whereas in the devices of the prior art, for which the screwing is done in the very material of the barrier 5, 9, the tightening causes direct damage to the barrier and corrosion.

[0054] Furthermore, at least one opening 41 is conical, i.e. chamfered, and complementary to the recessed screw head 39 so that said recessed screw head 39 is flush with a first surface of the first main wall 11 located opposite the first clamp body 13 or with a second surface of the second main wall 19 located opposite the second clamp body 21.

[0055] The flush position of the screw heads protects them and also prevents them from catching or damaging the outside of the conical opening 4L

[0056] In one embodiment, a tubular spacer 18 is inserted between the third tubular element 23 and the cylindrical rod 17 so as to protect the cylindrical rod 17 during rotations of the third tubular element 23.

[0057] The spacer 18 is provided in a smooth material such as bronze or such as plastic at least inside the spacer 18 because it is against this interior that the exterior of the cylindrical rod 17 rubs. The spacer 18 is mounted by wedging and / or gluing in the tubular element 23.

[0058] The cylindrical rod 17 is removably mounted and held relative to the two tubular elements 15 and held fixed by two removable headless screws 35.

[0059] The screws 35 pass through the two tubular elements 15 of the first L-shaped support 50 at two tapped holes 29 in said two tubular elements 15, said headless screws 35 being further screwed into these two tapped holes 29 while holding the cylindrical rod 17 in position thanks to the two indentations 31 of the screws 35, the two indentations 31 being provided in the cylindrical rod 17.

[0060] The screws 35 do not protrude from their housing 29 in the tubular elements 15, which protects them and also prevents them from catching or damaging the outside.

[0061] Thus, the second L-shaped support 60 can be assembled or disassembled relative to the first L-shaped support 50 via the removably mounted cylindrical rod 17.

[0062] Furthermore, the cylindrical rod 17 can be mounted either ([fig.6]) so as to have a concave angle formed between the second main wall 19 and the second secondary wall 20 which can, in at least one angular position of the second L-shaped support 60 among its successive positions during a rotation around the cylindrical rod 17, be opposite a concave angle of the first L-shaped support 50 formed between the first main wall 11 and the first secondary wall 12, or ([fig.5]) so that these two angles are always opposite each other whatever the angular position of the second support relative to the cylindrical rod 17.

[0063] As illustrated by Figures 7 and 8, the first and second clamps 13, 21 may each have a concave U-shaped shape suitable for receiving a bar 5, 9 between said first and second clamps 13, 21 and respectively the first and second walls 11, 19.

[0064] The bar 5,9 can thus be a cylindrical bar extending parallel to the cylindrical rod 17 which has a cross section which is parallelepipedal or ellipsoidal.

[0065] The concave shape may be formed by two extensions parallel to the projecting chimney and extending beyond it, if necessary, and located at the edge of the clamp elements 13, 21, so as to laterally encompass a bar 5, 9 which is housed therein.

[0066] To mount the hinge 1, the first support 50 is assembled on a first bar 5 drilled with a hole 51 in which the first threaded rod 25 is inserted.

[0067] The hole 51a therefore has a diameter greater than the threaded rod 25, 27 and the chimney 43 where applicable.

[0068] The first bar 5 is clamped between the first main wall 11 and the first clamp 13.

[0069] Similarly, the second support 60 is assembled on a second bar 9 drilled with a hole which is similar to the hole 51 and into which the second threaded rod 27 is inserted.

[0070] The second bar 9 is further clamped between the second main wall 19 and the second clamp 21 thanks to the tightening of the second threaded rod 27.
