Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: LINER PEN technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to a liner pen, in particular, a liner pen optimized for a very low viscosity formula.
[0002] [Context]
[0003] It is known to apply makeup, for example on the eyelids, by drawing a line with a liner applicator such as a liner pen.
[0004] Document WO 2012 / 008 009 Al discloses a pen-shaped cosmetic product applicator comprising a pen tip (brush), an inner sheath provided in a main applicator body, an impregnation member comprising a lamella impregnated with a liquid cosmetic, which is housed in the inner sheath, a pen feeder for applying the liquid cosmetic product to the pen tip, which is provided on one side of the tip of the impregnation member, and a cap fixed to a rear end of the inner sheath.
[0005] Document CN 205 849 009 U discloses a liner pen. This liner pen includes a nib, a sponge, a check valve, and a body, the nib being formed from brush bristles of varying diameters and shapes. The body has a mother-of-solution chamber connected to the check valve, which stores a cosmetic liquid inside, and the sponge surrounds the mother-of-solution chamber side of the nib.
[0006] Document KR 10-1 464 934 discloses a liner pen. The liner pen includes a brush assembly consisting of a wedge element and a brush element, a hollow guide supporting the brush element, a control element containing the wedge element, a support element with a cosmetic material housing chamber, and a support cap element.
[0007] However, for a new liner formula having a very low viscosity, such as a range of 4 to 15 mPa·s, preferably 4 to 8 mPa·s, measured at 25 °C and a shear rate of 100 s⁻¹ using an ARES-RFS type rheometer, prior art liner pens do not allow for the deposition of a sufficient quantity of the new liner formula. The new liner formula is disclosed, for example, in documents WO 2012 008 009 and WO 2020 004 239.
[0008] More specifically, the liner formula may contain a composition comprising one or more of the following elements:
[0009] (a) at least one pigment (in particular carbon black);
[0010] (b) at least a first copolymer of at least two monomers selected from (Metha)acrylic acid, its esters, and its salts (acrylate copolymer);
[0011] (c) at least one second copolymer of styrene or α-methylstyrene and at least one monomer selected from (meth)acrylic acid, its esters and its salts (styrene / acrylates / ammonium methacrylate copolymer); and
[0012] (d) of water.
[0013] Consequently, the design of a liner pen must be improved for the new liner formula. One object of the present invention is to improve the liner pen. Description of the invention

[0030] The eyeliner pen according to the present invention is optimized for the new ultra-low viscosity eyeliner formula. More specifically, the eyeliner formula contains a composition comprising:
[0031] (a) at least one pigment (Carbon Black);
[0032] (b) at least a first copolymer of at least two monomers selected from (Metha)acrylic acid, its esters and its salts (acrylate copolymer);
[0033] (c) at least one second copolymer of styrene or α-methylstyrene and at least one monomer selected from (meth)acrylic acid, its esters and its salts (styrene / acrylates / ammonium methacrylate copolymer); and
[0034] (d) water,
[0035] wherein the viscosity of the composition can be a range of 4 to 15 mPa.s, preferably 4 to 8 mPa.s, measured at 25 °C and at a shear rate of 100 s 1 using an ARES-RFS type rheometer.
[0036] The (a) pigment may be carbon black. The amount of (a) pigment in the composition may be from 1% to 30% by weight, preferably from 3% to 20% by weight, and more preferably from 5% to 10% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.
[0037] The (meth)acrylic acid esters for (b) the first copolymer can be selected from alkyl (meth)acrylates with a C1-C30 alkyl radical, aryl (meth)acrylates with a C6-C10 aryl radical, and hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylates with a C2-C6 hydroxyalkyl radical. The amount of (b) the first copolymer in the composition can be from 0.001% to 30% by weight, preferably from 0.01% to 20% by weight, and more preferably from 0.1% to 10% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.
[0038] The (c) second copolymer may include at least one ammonium fraction or group. The (meth)acrylic acid esters for the (c) second copolymer may be selected from alkyl (meth)acrylates with a CrC3O alkyl radical, aryl (meth)acrylates with a C6-CiO aryl radical, and hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylates with a C2-C6 hydroxyalkyl radical. The weight ratio of the amount of the (c) second copolymer(s) to the amount of the (a) pigment(s) is 1.0 or more, preferably 1.5 or more, and more preferably 2.0 or more. The amount of (c) second copolymer in the composition may be from 1% to 40% by weight, preferably from 5% to 35% by weight, and more preferably from 10% to 35% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.
[0039] The (b) first copolymer and / or the (c) second copolymer may be in the form of particles.
[0040] The quantity of (d) water in the composition can be from 10% to 60% by weight, preferably from 30% to 55% by weight, and more preferably from 40% to 55% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.
[0041] Figure 1 shows an exploded view of an embodiment of a line-point pen 1 according to the present invention. Figure 2 shows a cross-sectional view in a longitudinal direction of an embodiment of a line-point pen 1 according to the present invention. The eyeliner pen 1 of the present invention has an elongated shape in one direction. The eyeliner pen 1 is mainly composed of a brush 2, a brush case 3, a feeder 4, a flap system 5, an inner sheath 6, an outer sheath 7, and a cap 8.
[0042] Figure 3a shows an external view of the brush 2. The brush 2 consists of an application portion 21 having a substantially ogive shape and a flange portion 22 having a substantially disc shape. The application portion 21 extends the flange portion 22 in a direction along the longitudinal direction. The application portion 21 is formed from a plurality of fibers aligned substantially in the longitudinal direction.
[0043] A brush hole 23 is formed in the center of the brush 2 in the longitudinal direction. The brush hole 23 extends by penetrating the flange portion 22 to approximately the middle of the application portion 21. Although the brush 2 has substantially an ogive shape in this embodiment, the brush 2 can be such as a flat brush.
[0044] The fibers forming the application portion 21 may have a circular shape of the same diameter in a section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The fibers may have a circular shape of different diameters in a section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The fibers may also have, for example, a star shape in a section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (see [Fig. 3b]). Of course, the fibers may have any other shape in a section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The fibers are preferably made of a polymeric material such as polyester.
[0045] In the case of using different types of fibers, for example, having a different fiber diameter (refer to [Fig. 3c]), the fibers are mixed before forming the brush 2 to obtain a uniform distribution of the different fiber types. The quantity (number) of one type of fiber can be the same as the quantity (number) of the other type of fiber.
[0046] Figure 4 shows an external view and a cross-sectional view along the longitudinal direction of the brush holder 3. The brush holder 3 has a portion of smaller diameter 31 and a portion of larger diameter 32. Both the portion of smaller diameter 31 and the portion of larger diameter 32 are substantially cylindrical in shape and are arranged concentrically in the longitudinal direction such that the portion of smaller diameter 31 extends one side of the portion of larger diameter 32. Consequently, the brush holder 3 comprises a base surface 34 which belongs to the portion of larger diameter 32 and a tip surface 35 which belongs to the portion of smaller diameter 31.
[0047] The smaller diameter portion 31 has a conical portion 33 which is tapered up to the tip surface 35 over a certain distance from the tip surface 35. Grooves 36 can be formed on an external surface of the brush case 3 in the longitudinal direction from the tip surface 35 to a part of the larger diameter portion 32.
[0048] A stepped through hole, consisting of a cylindrical hole 38 and a conical hole 39, penetrates the entire brush holder 3. The cylindrical hole 38 and the conical hole 39 are arranged concentrically in the longitudinal direction, and the stepped through hole is arranged concentrically with respect to the brush holder 3. The cylindrical hole 38 extends the base surface 34 to a portion of the larger diameter portion 32, and the conical hole 39 extends it to the tip surface 35. A diameter of the cylindrical hole 38 is larger than that of the conical hole 39 and may be larger than the external diameter of the smaller diameter portion 31. Consequently, the stepped through hole includes a shoulder 310.
[0049] When the liner pen 1 is assembled, the brush 2 is inserted into the brush holder 3, such that the brush holder 3 is arranged to surround the brush 2 in such a way that a certain length of the application portion 21 of the brush 2 protrudes from the surface of the tip 35 in the longitudinal direction. The flange portion 22 of the brush 2 butts against the shoulder 310; in this way, the brush holder 3 supports the brush 2.
[0050] Figure 5 shows an external view of the feeder 4. The feeder 4 comprises a pointed portion 41 having a substantially ogival shape and a cylindrical portion 42 having a substantially cylindrical shape. The pointed portion 41 and the cylindrical portion 42 are arranged concentrically in the longitudinal direction such that the cylindrical portion of the pointed portion 41 extends the first side of the cylindrical portion 42. The diameter of the pointed portion 41 is smaller than that of the cylindrical portion 42, and a shoulder portion 43 is formed at the point of connection between the pointed portion 41 and the cylindrical portion 42.
[0051] When the eyeliner pen 1 is assembled, the end portion of the feeder 4 is inserted into the brush hole 23, and the cylindrical portion 42 extends to a reservoir 63 described below, which is inserted into the lamellar system 5 described below. The feeder 4 is preferably made of a porous polymeric material such as polyester, having a porosity of 74%, to conduct the eyeliner formula to be applied to a user from a reservoir 63 to the brush 2.
[0052] Figure 6 shows an external view of the lamellar system 5. The lamellar system 5 has an elongated shape in the longitudinal direction. The lamellar system 5 consists of an end portion 51, a middle portion 52, and a tail portion 53, and these portions are aligned concentrically in the longitudinal direction. tubular. A central tube 54 penetrates the tip portion 51, the middle portion 52, and the tail portion 53, into which the cylindrical portion 42 of the feeder 4 is inserted. A plurality of fins spaced apart are formed on the outer circumference of the central tube 54 at the middle portion 52. The lamellar system 5 may be made of a plastic material such as polypropylene, polycarbonate, or similar, and molded entirely in one piece.
[0053] When the liner pen 1 is assembled, the tail portion 53 forms part of the reservoir 63 described below to prevent the liner formula from leaking. Therefore, an outer diameter of the tail portion 53 is substantially the same as, or slightly larger than, the inner diameter of the inner sheath 6. Alternatively, a sealing means such as an O-ring is provided on the outer circumference of the tail portion 53.The external diameters of the tip portion 51 and the middle portion 52 are slightly smaller than the internal diameter of the inner sheath 6. The total length of the lamellar system 5 in the longitudinal direction is shorter than that of the cylindrical portion 42 of the feeder 4.
[0054] Figure 7 shows a cross-sectional view along the longitudinal direction of the inner sheath 6. The inner sheath 6 has a hollow cylindrical shape and a pointed end 61 disposed on a portion of the tip and a tail end 62 disposed on a portion of the tail and on the opposite side of the pointed end 61. The pointed and tail portions are separated from each other by a flange 64. The outer profile of the inner sheath tapers towards the pointed end 61 for a certain distance from the pointed end 61. The inner sheath 6 is made of a plastic material such as polypropylene, polycarbonate, or a similar material. When the line pen 1 is assembled, the inner sheath 6 encloses the brush 2, the brush holder 3, the feeder 4, and the lamellar system 5.
[0055] The tail end 62 of the inner sleeve 6 forms a reservoir 63 for holding the liner formula. An internal stopper 66 (see Figures 1 and 2) is attached to the tail end 62 to hermetically seal the reservoir 63 when the liner pen 1 is assembled. The reservoir 63 can hold a stirring ball 67 (see Figures 1 and 2) for stirring the liner formula. A shoulder portion 65 is formed near the tip end 61 inside the tip portion.
[0056] Figure 8 shows a cross-sectional view along the longitudinal direction of the outer sheath 7. An outer sheath 7 has a hollow body with a pointed end 71 and a tail end 72, which is substantially cylindrical in shape. The external shape of the hollow body may be slightly tapered from the pointed end 71 to the tail end 72. The outer sheath 7 houses the tail portion of the outer sheath 6 when the liner pen is assembled. An external cap 73 (see Figure 2) is attached to the tail end 72 when the liner pen is assembled. Alternatively, the hollow body can be formed from a single piece closed at the tail end 72.
[0057] Figure 9 shows a cross-sectional view in the longitudinal direction of the plug 8. The plug 8 comprises an outer plug 81, an inner plug 82, and a spring 83. The outer plug 81 houses the inner plug 82 and the spring 83 between a tip portion of the outer plug 81 and a tip portion of the inner plug 82. The inner plug 82 can slide within the outer plug 81 in the longitudinal direction over a certain distance relative to the outer plug 81.
[0058] The cap 8 can be detachably attached to the liner pen 1. The spring 83 presses the inner cap 82 against the inner sleeve 6 or the brush case 3 to seal tightly and prevent the drying of a liner formula when the cap 8 is attached to the liner pen 1.
[0059] Next, the assembly of the liner 1 is described. The brush 2 is inserted into the brush case 3 so that the flange portion 22 butts up against the shoulder 310 to position the brush 2 relative to the brush case 3. In this position, a certain length of the application portion 21 of the brush 2 protrudes from the surface of the tip 35 in the longitudinal direction.
[0060] The tip portion 41 of the feeder 4 is inserted into the brush hole 23 until the shoulder portion 43 of the feeder 4 abuts against the flange portion 22 of the brush 2. Then, the cylindrical portion 42 of the feeder 4 is inserted into the central tube 54 of the lamellar system 5 until the tip portion 51 of the lamellar system 5 abuts against the flange portion 22 of the brush 2. As a result, the brush 2 is held between the brush holder 3 and the lamellar system 5. In this arrangement, a portion of the cylindrical portion 42 of the feeder 4 protrudes from the tail portion 53 of the lamellar system 5 in the longitudinal direction.
[0061] An assembly consisting of the brush 2, the brush case 3, the feeder 4 and the lamellar system 5 is inserted into the inner sheath 6 until the larger diameter portion 32 of the brush case 3 comes against the shoulder 65 of the inner sheath 6. This places the brush case 3 and therefore the brush 2 in a predetermined position such that a certain length of the smaller diameter portion 31 of the brush case and therefore of the application portion 21 of the brush 2 protrudes from the end 61 of the inner sheath 6 in the longitudinal direction.
[0062] The stop between the larger diameter portion 32 of the brush holder 3 and the shoulder 65 of the inner sheath 65 constitutes the lamellar system 5 within the inner sheath 6. In this position, the tail portion 53 of the lamellar system 5 forms part of the reservoir 63 for a line formula inside the tail portion of the inner sheath 6. The reservoir 63 is filled with the line formula in liquid form. The stirring ball 67 can be housed in the reservoir 63, and the stopper Internal part 66 is attached to the rear end 62 which closes the tank 63.
[0063] Finally, an assembly consisting of the brush 2, the brush case 3, the feeder 4, the lamellar system 5, and the inner sheath 6 is inserted into the outer sheath 7 from the tip end 71, and the outer cap 73 is attached to the tail end 72. The cap 8 is attached to the brush side of the liner pen 1 to cover the brush 2.
[0064] The cylindrical portion 42 of the feeder 4 absorbs the line formula contained in the reservoir 63 since a part of the cylindrical portion 42 protrudes into the reservoir 63. The line formula absorbed by the feeder 4 reaches a tip of the application portion 21 of the brush 2 by capillary action, and the line formula is deposited in the application portion 21.
[0065] In the case of using different types of fibers having a different fiber diameter, the fibers are mixed before forming the brush 2. The inventor found that a mixing period improves the quality of the brush with regard to its flexibility and the amount of formula that the brush can deposit.
[0066] An experiment was conducted to determine brush quality as a function of mixing time. Two different types of fibers were used. One type of fiber had a diameter of 100 µm, and the other type had a diameter of 120 µm. Both types of fibers were mixed in equal quantities. The mixing times were 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes. The results are shown in Table 1. The 60-minute mixing time resulted in the best quality.

[0068] The inventor found that a brush hole diameter of 23 influences the amount of formula that the brush can deposit. An experiment to determine the amount of The formula that the brush can deposit depending on the diameter of the brush hole was determined. The diameters were 1.2 mm, 1.3 mm, 1.4 mm, and 1.5 mm. The results are shown in Table 2. The larger the diameter, the greater the amount of formula deposited.

[0070] The inventor found that the gap between the lamellar system 5 and the inner sheath 6 influences the amount of formula that the brush can deposit. An experiment was conducted to determine the amount of formula that the brush can deposit as a function of the gap. The gaps were 0.075 mm and 0.15 mm. The results are shown in Table 3. A larger gap allows for the deposit of a greater quantity of liner formula.

[0072] The inventor found that the length of the brush 2 influences the amount of formula that the brush can deposit. An experiment was conducted to determine the amount of formula that the brush can deposit as a function of the brush length. The lengths were 16.6 mm and 15.6 mm. The result is shown in Table 4. The shorter brush can deposit a greater amount of the liner formula.

[0074] The inventor found that the porosity of the feeder 4 influences the amount of formula that the brush can deposit. An experiment was conducted to determine the amount of formula that the brush can deposit as a function of the feeder's porosity. The porosity was 59%, 65%, 70%, and 75%. The feeder is made entirely of polyester. The results are shown in Table 5. The feeder with a porosity of 75% can deposit the greatest amount of liner formula in this experiment. The feeder's porosity would allow for a specific deposit linked to the specific formula.

[0076] The porosity (wet system and wet system (v / v)) of the feeder was measured as follows. 1) Insert a sponge into a Petri dish and soak the sponge with adjusted water. 2) Place a dried fiber quill (feeder) from a furnace on a balance and check the weight of the dried fiber quill ([A] mg). 3) The fiber quill is then soaked with adjusted water using the sponge. 4) Once the fiber quill is sufficiently soaked with adjusted water and this is confirmed, place the soaked fiber on the balance to measure its weight again ([B] mg). Finally, calculate the porosity of the fiber quill with the weights of [A] mg and [B] mg according to the following formulas.
[0077] Porosity (wet system) = -x 100(%j
[0078] Porosity (wet system (v / v) ) =----- x 100% (B - A) + p
[0079] Here, “p” means the fiber density.
[0080] During the measurement, the following points must be noted: any water left on the balance must be completely wiped away when continuous measurements are performed; the sponge is always thoroughly saturated with the adjusted water, but over-saturating it must be avoided; the adjusted water content in the sponge is insufficient, so it is always necessary to add adjusted water up to its maximum level; and the contact area between the sponge and the fiber quill must be minimized for the test so as not to adhere water to the surface of the fiber quill. The adjusted water formula includes 0.325 parts blue dye, 50 parts nonionic surfactant, and 5000 parts water.
[0081] Although the embodiment of the present invention is described as a liner pen for a new liner formula, the present invention can be used for any type of cosmetic application, in particular for a classic liner formula, depending on the desired quantity of product delivered.
