Description

Title of the invention: AIR RECYCLING SYSTEM FOR A PREMISES Technical field

[0001] The invention relates to an air recycling system for a room. Prior art

[0002] In a room, maintaining a satisfactory level of air quality is essential to ensure the health and comfort of the occupants of the room. The satisfactory level of air quality can, however, be disturbed by the presence of pollutants resulting from an activity carried out inside the room.

[0003] For example, fine particles may remain suspended in the air of the premises after certain manual activities, cleaning, cooking, or even combustion have been carried out inside the premises. Similarly, the breathing of the occupants of the premises causes the accumulation of bio-effluents, such as CO2, in the air of the premises.

[0004] The presence of these pollutants in the air of the premises causes health risks as well as discomfort, such as olfactory discomfort, for the occupants of the premises.

[0005] Conventionally, the satisfactory level of air quality is maintained by continuously renewing the air in the room and ventilating it.

[0006] In a room comprising several rooms, the renewal of the air housed in the room can be ensured by extraction from a sweeping principle. In this case, a flow of air, called stale air, is extracted from the interior of the room, in particular from a room of the latter equipped with a water inlet. The flow of stale air is for example extracted by an extraction member. A flow of air, called fresh air, is introduced from outside the room into another room of the room, in particular a room not having a water inlet through air inlets provided for this purpose. The flow of fresh air is generated by a depression created inside the room after the extraction of the flow of stale air.

[0007] The sweeping principle also takes place when the air renewal in the room is ensured by insufflation. In this case, a flow of fresh air is blown into the room of the room which does not have a water supply. This insufflation creates an overpressure in the room. Stale air outlets provided in the rooms equipped with a water supply allow the extraction of the stale air flow.

[0008] The flow of fresh air mixes with the stale air present in the room into which it is introduced, which makes it possible to dilute a concentration of pollutants inside the room. This mixture then continues towards the other rooms of the premises through the air passages provided for this purpose (open doors, openings in doors, grilles transfer, porosities in walls, etc.), so as to also dilute a concentration of pollutants inside these other rooms.

[0009] However, the use of this principle has drawbacks. In particular, to have a supply of fresh air, it is necessary to extract the flow of stale air by creating a depression inside the room, which results in energy consumption by the extraction device.

[0010] Furthermore, during the heating season, when the temperature outside the room is colder than inside, heat losses occur through the introduction of the flow of fresh air into the room and the extraction of the flow of previously heated stale air.

[0011] This principle also implies that the arrival of fresh air in each of the rooms does not depend on the concentration of pollutants in the air of each room. This arrival is notably conditioned by a level of difficulty encountered by the mixture to access each room. For example, when the clearance of the doors is insufficient, the mixture will tend to enter more into the rooms for which the door is open. Thus, rooms with a higher concentration of pollutants may be deprived of the arrival of the mixture. Similarly, the flow of stale air arrives in each room depending on the ease of the flow of stale air to pass from the respective room to the extraction member. Therefore, to increase the fresh air in a room, it is necessary to increase the overall extraction flow rate without being able to target the polluted space.

[0012] In a residential building, we observe a non-uniform use of rooms during the day. Thus, for example, bedrooms are more occupied at night than during the day and living spaces (kitchen or living room for example) are used more during the day.

[0013] It is also known to use an individual air treatment system to maintain the satisfactory quality level. However, such a system is intended to treat a single room in the premises. Furthermore, these devices do not allow carbon dioxide (CO2) to be treated in order to reduce its concentration in the room.

[0014] The aim of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks. Summary

[0015] For this purpose, the invention relates to an air recycling system for a room, the room comprising a plurality of rooms, the plurality of rooms comprising at least one first room and at least one second room, the system comprising: - at least one return assembly intended to be installed in the at least one first room of the plurality of rooms, - at least one air diffusion assembly intended to fluidically connect the at least one return assembly to the at least one second room; and - a fan intended to set a flow of air in motion between the at least one recovery assembly and the air diffusion assembly, the system being characterized in that the at least one recovery assembly is configured to suck from the at least one first room an air flow, called recycled air flow, the air diffusion assembly being configured to introduce said recycled air flow into the at least one second room.

[0016] Thanks to the system according to the present invention, it is possible to improve the quality of the air housed in the second room from the introduction therein of the flow of recycled air sucked from the first room. Also, a reduction of a concentration of pollutants, preferably by dilution, inside the second room is possible without supplying air from outside the room, so as to limit heat losses and energy consumption.

[0017] In addition, the diffusion assembly consists of at least one network which makes it possible to introduce all or part of the recycled air flow directly into the second room.

[0018] Since the diffusion assembly can connect the recovery assembly to at least one second part, it is also possible to process several second parts from the same recycling system.

[0019] According to another characteristic of the invention, the system further comprises an air purification treatment device arranged so as to be crossed by the recycled air flow, the air purification treatment device comprising at least one filter allowing the filtration of at least one constituent of said recycled air flow.

[0020] According to another characteristic of the invention, the system is configured so that the flow of recycled air sucked in by the recovery assembly is constant during operation of said system.

[0021] According to another characteristic of the invention, the system is configured so that the flow of recycled air sucked in by the recovery assembly is variable during operation of said system.

[0022] According to another characteristic of the invention, the system further comprises a control means making it possible to activate and / or deactivate the system, and / or to determine an operating mode of the system.

[0023] According to another characteristic of the invention, the control means is configured so that the at least one recovery assembly sucks in the recycled air flow during at least one operating time slot of the system.

[0024] According to another characteristic of the invention, the control means comprises at least one sensor intended to be installed in at least one room of the plurality of rooms, the at least one sensor being configured to send a signal making it possible to control the system.

[0025] According to another characteristic of the invention, the system is configured to send a signal to a controlled mechanical ventilation device to increase a flow of air extracted from the room for a given time, for example for 30 minutes.

[0026] According to another characteristic of the invention, each sensor is a presence detector and / or a sensor of a quantity of: - inorganic compound(s); and / or - volatile organic compound(s); and / or - semi-volatile organic compound(s); and / or - particles; and / or - microorganisms; and / or - relative humidity, in the air of at least one room of the plurality of rooms.

[0027] According to another characteristic of the invention, the system further comprises a ventilation orifice intended to introduce from outside the premises a flow of air, called a flow of fresh air, intended to be introduced into at least one of the rooms of the plurality of rooms of the premises.

[0028] According to another characteristic of the invention, the air diffusion assembly comprises at least one member for regulating the flow of air recycled in the at least one second part. Brief description of the drawings

[0035] The subject of the invention is an air recycling system 1 for a room 2.

[0036] Premises 2 is preferably an individual or collective type accommodation, but it can also belong to a building used in the tertiary economic sector. Subsequently, an exterior of room 2 will be called “exterior”.

[0037] As shown in [Fig.l], room 2 comprises several rooms 3, 4, 6 separated by walls or partitions.

[0038] The rooms 3, called wet rooms, are provided with at least one water inlet 5. The wet rooms 3 are for example a kitchen, a bathroom, a shower room, toilets, etc.

[0039] Rooms 4, called living rooms, and rooms 6, called circulation rooms, do not have a water inlet 5.

[0040] The living rooms 4 are for example a living room or a bedroom. The rooms 6 are for example an entrance, a corridor, a landing, a hallway or a stairwell.

[0041] Of course, the invention is not limited to premises in which the wet rooms 3, the living rooms 4 and the circulation rooms 6 are separated by walls or partitions. The room 2 may for example comprise a kitchen open to a living room with an entrance, so that the rooms 3, 4 and 6 are grouped in a single volume.

[0042] Preferably, the room 2 comprises at least one living room 4 and one circulation room 6.

[0043] Air housed in each of the rooms 3, 4, 6 may be renewed for health and / or regulatory reasons. For this purpose, the room 2 may comprise a controlled mechanical ventilation (CMV) device. The CMV device comprises at least one air inlet 7 and at least one air extraction vent 8.

[0044] As visible in [Fig.l], each air inlet 7 is installed in one of the living rooms 4, and each extraction vent 8 is installed in one of the wet rooms 3. Preferably, each living room 4 comprises one or more air inlets 7.

[0045] Each extraction vent 8 allows the extraction to the outside of a flow of air housed in the respective wet room 3, so as to create a depression in the room 2. Each inlet 7 allows the introduction into the respective living room 4 of a flow of air, called fresh air (not shown), from the outside. The flow of fresh air introduced makes it possible to compensate for the volume of air extracted by the extraction vent 8.

[0046] The flow of fresh air sweeps the air already present in the room 4 so as to form a mixture of fresh air and air already present in the room 4. This phenomenon is known as "dilution". The mixture created continues towards the rooms 3 through, for example, door deflections or transfer grilles. In the wet rooms 3, the mixture can be extracted to the outside through the extraction vents 8.

[0047] The circulation rooms 6 are devoid of air inlets 7. The air present in each circulation room 6 is formed from the dilution of the air flows coming from each living room 4 due to the depression generated by the extraction of the air flow by the VMC device in the wet rooms 3.

[0048] The VMC device thus ensures permanent renewal of air by sweeping in room 2.

[0049] The air recycling system 1 according to the present invention will now be described with reference to FIGS. 2 to 5.

[0050] System 1 is installed in room 2. In Figures 2 and 3, room 2 comprises a living room 4 and a circulation room 6. In Figures 4 and 5, room 2 comprises a circulation room 6 and two living rooms 4. It is of course possible to have a room 2 having any other number of living rooms 4 and any other number of circulation rooms 6.

[0051] In each living room 4, or in the same living room 4 at different times, the composition of the air may be different depending, for example, on an occupancy rate, an activity carried out inside, ventilation, etc. Thus, a quantity (or concentration) of at least one constituent of the air differs between the different rooms 4, or in the same room 4 at different times.

[0052] As indicated above, the air in the circulation room 6 is formed by dilution of the air flows coming from the living room(s) 4.

[0053] A predetermined range of values may be defined for each air constituent. The predetermined range of values corresponds, for example, to a range of values of the quantity of the air constituent outside of which discomfort or health risks appear for an occupant of the living room 4.

[0054] In the following, a quantity of the respective constituent of the air housed in the circulation room 6 is included in a predetermined range of values, while in the living room(s) 4 a quantity of the same constituent of the air is outside the predetermined range of values. This does not exclude the room 2 from comprising other living rooms 4 in which the quantity of this constituent of the air is included, or potentially included, in the predetermined range of values.

[0055] The constituent of the air is in particular an element or a compound which can cause the appearance of discomfort or health risks for the occupant of the living room 4.

[0056] The constituent of air can be: - one or more inorganic compound(s); and / or - one or more volatile organic compound(s); and / or - one or more semi-volatile organic compound(s); and / or - particles; and / or - microorganisms; and / or - water vapor in room 4, 6 at a given temperature.

[0057] The inorganic compound(s) are for example carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and / or radon, among others.

[0058] The volatile organic compound(s) are, for example, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, hydrocarbons and / or terpenes, among others. In particular, the volatile organic compound(s) are, for example, benzene, formaldehyde, naphthalene, trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, hydrocyanic acid, acetaldehyde, acrolein, ethylbenzene and / or toluene, among others.

[0059] The semi-volatile organic compound(s) are for example phthalates, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, musks and / or pesticides, among others.

[0060] By “microorganism” we mean a living organism invisible to the naked eye, such as viruses or bacteria for example.

[0061] By “particle” is meant any solid or liquid compound suspended in the air of each of the parts 4, 6. The particles may be, for example, fine particles having an airflow diameter less than or equal to 10 μm.

[0062] The quantity of water vapor at the given temperature determines a relative humidity in the room 4, 6. In particular, the relative humidity is defined as a ratio between a partial pressure of a water vapor contained in the air of each room 4, 6 at the given temperature on a saturation vapor pressure in the room 4, 6 at the given temperature.

[0063] In the case of inorganic compounds, volatile organic compounds, semi-volatile organic compounds, particles, and microorganisms, the predetermined range of values is preferably between a zero value and a higher value of the quantity of the corresponding air constituent. For example, for CO2, the higher value may be equal to 1000 ppm, or even equal to 5000 ppm. These constituents may, for example, be measured in living rooms 4.

[0064] In the case of water vapor, the relative humidity is preferably between 30% and 70%, more preferably between 40% and 60%. Above 70% relative humidity there is, for example, a risk of deterioration of the room 2, in particular by proliferation of bacteria, or condensation and infiltration of water in the walls. Below 30% relative humidity there is, for example, a risk of loss of comfort, or even a health risk for the occupant of room 2. The occupant may, for example, experience drying of the mucous membranes due to dry conditions in room 2.

[0065] The system 1 comprises at least one recovery assembly 9, an air diffusion assembly 10 and at least one fan IL

[0066] In [Fig.2], the return assembly 9 comprises a return grille 12 and a return plenum 13. The return assembly 9 could of course comprise only the return grille 12 or the return plenum 13.

[0067] The recovery assembly 9 is installed in a circulation room 6.

[0068] When the system 1 is activated, the recovery assembly 9 is configured to suck from the circulation room 6 an air flow 14, called recycled air flow, visible in [Fig. 2]. The recycled air flow 14 sucked by the recovery assembly 9 can be constant or variable during operation of the system 1. The recovery assembly 9 can be configured to suck the recycled air flow 14 during one or more time slot(s) of operation of the system 1.

[0069] The diffusion assembly 10 comprises at least one network 15 comprising one or more ducts 18. By “duct” is meant any type of conduit allowing the transport of air.

[0070] Preferably, the diffusion assembly 10 also comprises at least one air diffuser 16.

[0071] The air diffuser 16 is installed in the living room 4. In [Fig.2], the air diffuser 16 is installed against a false ceiling 17 of the living room 4, but it could be installed in any other position in the living room 4. Each living room 4 can be provided with one or more air diffusers 16.

[0072] As illustrated in Figures 2, 4 and 5, the diffusion assembly 10 may further comprise a distribution box 28 making it possible to connect all the ducts 18 to the recovery assembly 9. In the non-limiting example of [Fig.2], the distribution box 28 is provided with a heat treatment device which will be detailed below.

[0073] Each duct 18 extends between the distribution box 28 and a respective living room 4. Each duct 18 can for example be connected to the air diffuser 16 installed in the respective living room 4. Thus, the network 15 can extend between the return assembly 9 and several living rooms 4.

[0074] In [Fig.2], the network 15 is installed in a false ceiling 17, but any other arrangement is possible.

[0075] The diffusion assembly 10 is configured to introduce the recycled air flow 14 into the living room(s) 4. In particular, the recycled air flow 14 moves inside each duct 18 until it is introduced into the living room 4. corresponding, where a mixture between the recycled air flow 14 and the air already present in the living room 4 occurs.

[0076] The diffusion assembly 10 is thus intended to fluidically connect the recovery assembly 9 to one or more living rooms 4.

[0077] As illustrated in Figures 3 to 5, the diffusion assembly 10 may further comprise at least one regulating member 19 for the flow of recycled air 14 which enters the living room 4. The regulating member 19 may be, for example, a shutter or an iris damper. The regulating member 19 is installed in each duct 18 or at the outlet of the distribution box 28, or it is associated with the air diffuser 16.

[0078] The regulating member 19 is advantageously movable between a fully open position and a position for obstructing the respective duct 18. In the fully open position, the recycled air flow 14 can pass through the duct 18 to the respective living room 4. In the obstructed position, the recycled air flow 14 cannot pass through the duct 18, which prevents the recycled air flow 14 from reaching the respective living room 4.

[0079] The position of each regulating member 19 is independent of the other regulating members 19. Thus, when the network 15 connects the circulation room 6 to several living rooms 4, certain regulating members 19 may be in the fully open position and others in the fully closed position, which makes it possible to define towards which living rooms 4 the recycled air flow 14 is directed. The introduction of the recycled air flow 14 may for example be favored in the living rooms 4 having greater quantities of the chosen air constituent.

[0080] Preferably, between the fully open position and the obstruction position, the regulating member 19 can take one or more intermediate positions.

[0081] In the intermediate positions, a recycled air flow rate that passes through the respective duct 18 is lower compared to the fully open position. The recycled air flow rate corresponds to a quantity of the recycled air flow 14 that passes through the respective duct 18 per unit of time. Thus, the recycled air flow rate 14 that arrives in the living room 4 can be regulated compared to the fully open position. Since the position of each regulating member 19 is independent of the other regulating members 19, a distribution of the recycled air flow 14 in each living room 4 can also be controlled.

[0082] It is noted that when the quantity of the chosen air constituent in the circulation room 6 is within the predetermined range of values, the introduction of the recycled air flow into the living room 4 aims to bring the quantity of the chosen air constituent inside the living room 4 closer to the predetermined range of values. Thus, a level of air quality inside the living room 4 is improved, and the discomfort and / or health risks for the occupant of the living room 4 are limited.

[0083] As previously stated, the system 1 further comprises at least one fan 11.

[0084] The fan 11 is intended to set a flow of air, in particular the flow of recycled air 14, in motion between the return assembly 9 and each air diffuser 16.

[0085] In some cases, the system 1 includes a ventilation orifice 24, also called a “fresh air inlet”, which connects the exterior of the room with a duct 27, also called a “fresh air duct”. In [Fig.2], the duct 27 connects the orifice 24 and the return plenum 13, but it could connect the orifice 24 directly to the distribution box 28, as illustrated in [Fig.5].

[0086] The orifice 24 and the duct 27 are intended to introduce a flow of fresh air 25 into the network 15. The flow of fresh air 25 can thus be introduced into the living room 4. Non-return valves 29 can be installed between the orifice 24 and the plenum 13 as well as in the fresh air duct 27 in the event of this duct 27 not being used. The valves 29 make it possible to guide the flow of fresh air 25 towards the network 15. A fan (not shown) making it possible to blow in the flow of fresh air 25 can be installed in the duct 27.

[0087] When the system 1 includes the orifice 24 connected to the plenum 13 or to the box 28, the living room 4 may be devoid of an air inlet 7.

[0088] The system 1 may further comprise a control means 20.

[0089] The control means 20 may comprise a human-machine interface 21, such as a physical or virtual button. The interface 21 allows an occupant of the living room 4 to start the system 1, to define an operating mode of the system and / or to define at least one operating range of the system 1, among other things.

[0090] An example of an operating mode of the system 1 may be a mode, called night mode, for which the system 1 is only activated during the night and the recycled air flow 14 is constant. Advantageously, in the night mode the recycled air flow is adjusted so as to limit noise pollution.

[0091] Another example of an operating mode of the system 1 may be a mode, called purification mode, for which the flow of recycled air 14 sucked in is maximum, which makes it possible to introduce a maximum quantity of recycled air into the living room 4. Thus, the approach to the predetermined range of values of the quantity of the chosen air constituent inside the living room 4 is accelerated.

[0092] Another example of an operating mode of the system 1 may be a mode, called automatic mode.

[0093] To implement the automatic mode, the control means 20 may comprise one or more sensors 22 intended to be installed in the living room 4. In certain cases, at least one sensor 22 is also installed in the circulation room 6.

[0094] Some sensors 22 may be a sensor of the quantity of the constituent of the air in the room 4, 6 chosen from the constituents of the air indicated previously. Thus, some sensors 22 may be, for example, a sensor of a quantity or a concentration of an inorganic compound, such as CO2, of microorganisms or of relative humidity in the respective room 4, 6.

[0095] Advantageously, the sensor 22 in the living room 4 sends a signal to activate the system 1 when the quantity of the chosen air constituent in the living room 4 is outside the predetermined range of values. The recycled air flow 14 is thus sucked from the circulation room 6 and introduced into the living room(s) 4.

[0096] Other sensors 22 may be a presence detector. The presence of occupants generally causes an increase in the quantity of certain air constituents in the occupied room. For example, the breathing of the occupants expels bio-effluents, such as CO2, or microorganisms from the body which are transferred to the air of the occupied living room. Therefore, the presence detector can send a signal to activate the system 1 without needing to measure the quantity of the chosen air constituent inside this room 4, and possibly, inside the circulation room 6.

[0097] Each sensor 22 can also send a signal to activate the system 1 when a difference in the quantity of the chosen air constituent and / or the occupancy rate exists between several living rooms 4 for which the quantity of the air constituent housed there is however included in the predetermined range of values. In this way, a homogenization of the air quality level is obtained in the rooms 4.

[0098] The system 1 may also receive a signal to deactivate when the respective sensor 22 detects that in the respective living room 4 the quantity of the chosen air constituent and / or the occupancy rate no longer cause discomfort or health risk for the occupants.

[0099] The system 1 can also be activated if the occupant of a room equipped with a human-machine interface 21 manually commands the activation of the system 1.

[0100] The control means 20 therefore makes it possible to activate and / or deactivate the system, and / or to determine an operating mode of the system. Independently of the operating mode of the system, the control means 20 can be configured to activate the system 1 only during one or more time slots.

[0101] The sensors 22 may further be designed to send a signal to the VMC device in order to increase the flow of air extracted by the extraction vent 8. In particular, when the sensor 22 in the living room 4 detects that the quantity of the chosen air constituent in this living room 4 is outside the predetermined range of values, the sensor 22 may send the signal making it possible to increase the flow of air extracted by the VMC device. The introduction of fresh air through the air inlets 7 is thus encouraged. This flow of fresh air contributes to the dilution phenomenon in room 2 as explained previously. The extraction of the air flow from the room can be done for a given time, for example for 30 minutes.

[0102] The system 1 may further comprise an air flow purification treatment device 23, shown in [Fig. 2]. By "purification", it is meant, for example, that the recycled air flow 14 is totally or partially freed from impurities, such as microbes, viruses, bacteria, insects, microorganisms, particles, volatile or semi-volatile organic compounds, polluting gas molecules, inorganic compounds, etc. More specifically, the purification treatment device 23 according to the present invention makes it possible to totally or partially free the recycled air flow 14 from the air constituents indicated above.

[0103] The purification treatment device 23 is arranged so as to be crossed by the recycled air flow 14. In the example of [Fig.2], it is placed inside the return plenum 13, which makes it easily accessible for maintenance purposes. Alternatively, the purification treatment device 23 is arranged in any other position crossed by the recycled air flow 14, for example inside the network 15.

[0104] The purification treatment may be a physicochemical treatment of the recycled air flow 14, for example by mechanical or gravimetric filtration. The purification treatment device 23 may therefore comprise at least one filter allowing the filtration of the chosen air constituent in the recycled air flow 14.

[0105] The physicochemical treatment can also be by adsorption, ionization and capture, electrostatic filtration, ozonization, plasma, photocatalysis, biofiltration, use of a disinfectant product or radiation, use of activated carbon, use of UV lamps, etc.

[0106] It is noted that the network 15 can be connected to several living rooms 4 via the ducts 18, the system 1 according to the present invention makes it possible to carry out centralized treatment of several living rooms 4.

[0107] It is also noted that the recycled air flow 14 being sucked from the circulation rooms 6 and introduced into the living rooms 4, the system 1 makes it possible to dilute the concentration of the chosen air constituent in the living rooms 4 without the need to blow more fresh air into the room. This therefore makes it possible to limit the concentrations of pollutants while limiting energy consumption and heat losses. More precisely, the system 1 makes it possible to smooth out the level of air pollution in the entire room 2, while limiting energy consumption and heat losses.

[0108] The present disclosure is not limited to the example described above with regard to the figures. On the contrary, the present disclosure encompasses all variants and combinations that may be considered by those skilled in the art within the framework of the protection sought. For example, several systems 1 may be installed in a room 2. In the case of a room 2 with several floors, one system 1 may be installed per floor.
