Description

Title of the invention: Layout of a dashboard equipped with a display screen

[0001] The invention relates to the field of dashboards of a vehicle comprising a display screen for vehicle or other information.

[0002] It is now common practice to have at least one screen integrated into the dashboard, visible on the front of the instrument panel, for displaying information related to the vehicle or other matters, particularly in the driver's area, with the information intended for the driver. The screen is positioned approximately at the level of the steering wheel, more or less in the upper part and behind the steering wheel, so that it is visible and legible to the driver.

[0003] In addition, the dashboard is equipped with air vents which, by means of air intakes or direct connection to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) unit, distribute air into the passenger compartment. Some of these vents are located on either side of the information display screen. These vents can be oriented left-right and up-down, for example by means of adjustable elements such as louvers, so as to allow the driver to choose the direction of airflow within the passenger compartment, thus enabling them to select the airflow to be directed at different levels of their body.

[0004] One drawback is that the ventilators, which frame the display screen, encroach on the display surface, whereas we want to have an increasingly large display surface.

[0005] One object of the invention is to resolve this drawback.

[0006] To this end, the invention proposes an arrangement of a dashboard in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle comprising at least one display screen which has a lower edge, an upper edge and a display face, said arrangement comprising at least one vent located behind said screen, and at least one movable deflector interposed between said screen and said vent, said deflector being movable at least in an up-down direction relative to said screen.

[0007] In particular, said at least one ventilator is orientable in the left-right direction. Preferably, it includes motorized drive means in the left-right direction. Preferably, said at least one ventilator is located in the passenger compartment near the windshield.

[0008] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, said deflector has a longitudinal cross-section of triangular shape, and comprises an upper wall and a lower wall meeting at a point towards said at least one ventilator, and an end, opposite to said point, proximal to the face opposite the display face of the screen at least for the respective parts of the deflector and the screen opposite each other.

[0009] In particular, said upper wall of the deflector is higher than said upper edge of the screen, when said deflector is in the upward facing position.

[0010] In particular, said lower wall of the deflector is lower than said lower edge of the screen, when said deflector is in the downward facing position.

[0011] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, said arrangement comprises a transverse pivot axis around which said deflector is movable in the up-down direction. Preferably, said deflector comprises drive means motorized relative to said pivot axis in the up-down direction.

[0012] According to a particular embodiment of the invention, said arrangement comprises a support for said screen and said deflector.

[0013] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, said arrangement comprises two ventilators in one half of said dashboard, and said deflector extends transversely over a width between said two ventilators.

[0014] The invention also relates to a motor vehicle, comprising a dashboard equipped with a display screen, with a dashboard arrangement as described above.

[0015] Other features and advantages of the invention will become clear from the following description, which is by way of example and not limitation, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:

[0016] [Fig.1] illustrates an arrangement of the dashboard of a motor vehicle, according to the invention, following a partial perspective view of the front part of the vehicle's passenger compartment;

[0017] [Fig.2] is a schematic longitudinal cross-sectional view of an unrotated position of an arrangement similar to that of [Fig.1], in the passenger compartment of the vehicle;

[0018] [Fig.3] is a schematic longitudinal sectional view of a position rotated towards the top of the arrangement of [Fig.2], in the vehicle's passenger compartment;

[0019] [Fig.4] is a schematic longitudinal sectional view of a position rotated towards the bottom of the arrangement of [Fig.2], in the vehicle's passenger compartment.

[0020] In all that follows, the orientations are the usual orientations of a motor vehicle defined according to a direct orthonormal XYZ coordinate system, classically used in automotive design, in which the X-axis designates the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, oriented from front to rear, the Y-axis designates the transverse direction and is oriented from left to right of the vehicle, and the Z-axis designates the vertical direction, and is oriented upwards. Thus, the terms "upper," "lower," "front," "rear," "left," and "right" are understood with respect to the orientations defined according to this coordinate system.

[0021] Figures 1 to 4 will be discussed together.

[0022] The dashboard 5 extends transversely (Y direction) across the width of the vehicle's passenger compartment, longitudinally (X direction) towards the vehicle's windshield 7, and in a plane slightly inclined to the vertical direction. A cover 4 closes the top of the dashboard, at least on its upper surface, so as to conceal elements of the air distribution system, wiring, or other vehicle devices located at the dashboard level.

[0023] The dashboard comprises a display screen 2, arranged, as shown in the example, on the driver's side (the driver C being represented by their hands resting on the steering wheel 6, in Figures 2 to 4). This display screen extends across the front of the dashboard, with the display face 20 facing the driver. The screen extends between a lower edge 22 and an upper edge 21 along its height "h", in a direction substantially inclined relative to the vertical direction (Z). It extends along its width, in the transverse direction (Y), over approximately half the width of the dashboard. The screen is thin (direction X). This screen displays information, particularly information relating to the vehicle, and forms part of the instrument panel.

[0024] The dashboard comprises two air vents 12, 12' located at the front, near the windshield 7, and under the instrument panel cover 4. These two vents are spaced transversely apart in one half of the dashboard, on the driver's side. These two vents blow air from the air conditioning (HVAC) system to distribute air towards the rear of the passenger compartment. This air from the air conditioning system can be supplied via ducts connected to a central duct of the HVAC module, located at the front of the vehicle, near the windshield. The vents are adjustable left-right. They include motorized drive means, so that, for example, the driver can easily operate them from their seat to easily manage this left-right orientation, for example, via a control that can be displayed on the screen.

[0025] Between the area occupied by the ventilators 12, 12' and the screen 2, a deflector 11, with a longitudinal section of triangular shape, is arranged.

[0026] The deflector 11 and the screen 2 are supported by a support 31, which includes a foot 30 inserted into an area 50 of the dashboard 5.

[0027] This deflector comprises an upper wall 111 and a lower wall 112 which meet at a point 113, in the direction of the area of the vents 12, said point 113 being the distal end of the deflector with respect to the screen. Conversely, the proximal end 114 of the deflector, formed by the closed transverse space between the lower wall 112 and the upper wall 111, has a height identical or nearly identical to that of the screen. The deflector extends over a width (along the transverse direction Y), going to less than one ventilator to the other and / or corresponding to at least the part of the screen extending into the part of the driver's seat.

[0028] This deflector 11 is adjustable up and down at the rear of the screen. It includes motorized means driving it to pivot around a transverse pivot axis 110 which passes through the support 31, to allow for up-down air diffusion. When the deflector 11 is not pivoted at the rear of the screen 2, the air arriving from the vents passes over (flow A) and under (flow B) the screen (see [Fig. 2]). The deflector, in its non-pivoted position, is arranged so that its tip 113 is close to and substantially centered with respect to the air outlets of the vents 12. On the proximal end 114 side of the deflector, its upper wall 111 is flush with the upper edge 21 of the screen, and its lower wall 112 is flush with the lower edge 22 of the screen, for the respective portions of the deflector and the screen opposite each other. The deflector is concealed behind the screen. When the screen is pivoted upwards, its upper wall 111 is above the upper edge 21 of the screen (see [Fig.3]), so that this wall 111 deflects the air blown from the vents upwards (flow A') to be directed towards the upper part (chest - head) of the conductor C. When the deflector 11 is pivoted downwards, its lower wall 112 lies below the lower edge 22 of the screen (see [Fig. 4]), so that this lower wall deflects the air blown from the vents downwards (flow A”). The air follows a preferred direction, to be directed towards the midsection (torso-pelvis) of the conductor C.

[0029] The invention thus proposes a dashboard arrangement which allows for a screen with a large display area for the screen, or for having several screens side by side.
