Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: TORSION DAMPING DEVICE
[0001] The invention relates to the field of torque transmission in motorized devices and concerns a torsional damping device for a vehicle transmission chain.
[0002] Motor vehicles generally include such torsional damping devices, which can be integrated into various components of the transmission chain. For example, a dual-mass flywheel, a clutch disc, or a torque limiter may include a torsional damping device that filters engine irregularities and other torsional oscillations. This filtering is typically achieved by one or more torsional dampers, which are spring-damper assemblies operating in torsion and enabling, during torque transmission, a relative rotational movement of a first rotating torque transmission element, coupled upstream of the transmission chain, and a second rotating torque transmission element, coupled downstream of the transmission chain. The relative rotation can be enabled by springs arranged in series.During torque transmission, and particularly when the travel is close to 0°, there is a transfer of load from these springs, allowing their compression, between the first rotating element of the torque transmission and the second rotating element of the torque transmission. When the transmitted torque is significant, for example, greater than or equal to 1.2 times the engine torque, the mechanical strength of the device, and in particular of the flanges and springs of the device, is difficult to guarantee, leading to a risk of breakage.
[0003] The invention aims to improve prior art torsional damping devices by proposing such a device protected in case of over-torque.
[0004] To this end, the invention relates to a torsional damping device for damping the torsional oscillations of a thermal, hybrid or electric engine of a vehicle, comprising:
[0005] - a first rotating element for transmitting a torque rotating around an axis rotation
[0006] - a second rotating element for transmitting the torque rotating around the axis of rotation and coupled in rotation to an output element capable of being fixed in rotation to a driven shaft,
[0007] - a third rotating element for transmitting the torque rotating around the axis of rotation,
[0008] - an elastic device interposed between the first rotating element and the second rotating element, and allowing, when it deforms, a relative rotation between the first and second rotating elements around the axis, the elastic device comprising at least a first spring, extending circumferentially between a first end and a second end, and a second spring, extending circumferentially between a first end and a second end, the first rotating element being movable between a rest position, in which no spring of the elastic device is compressed, and an active position in which at least one spring of the elastic device is compressed, the first spring being arranged between the first rotating element and the third rotating element so as to be elastically compressed during a relative rotation between the first rotating element and the third rotating element, the second spring being arranged between the third rotating element and the second rotating element so as to be elastically compressed during a relative rotation between the third rotating element and the second rotating element, - a first flange comprising a compression tab arranged circumferentially between the first end of the first spring and the first rotating element, ,
[0009] - a second flange comprising a compression tab arranged circumferentially between the second end of the first spring and the first rotating element,
[0010] Characterized in that the first rotating element moves the first end of the first spring towards the second end of the first spring, via the compression tab of the first flange, when said first rotating element is free to rotate in the forward direction from the rest position,
[0011] in that the first rotating element moves the second end of the first spring towards the first end of the first spring, via the compression tab of the second flange, when said first rotating element is mobile in rotation in the indirect direction from the rest position,
[0012] and in that the torsion damping device further comprises a mechanical end stop, the first rotating element being movable, beyond the active position, up to an end position in which one of the first rotating element, the second rotating element, the third rotating element, the first flange, the second flange and the output element butts against the other of the first rotating element, the second rotating element, the third rotating element, the first flange, the second flange and the output element.
[0013] Thus, the mechanical end-stop between two separate elements of the torsional damping device protects said device from overtorque. More specifically, the overtorque does not pass through the elastic device. This helps to protect the latter, in particular by reducing the risks of breakage in over-coupling situations and increasing its lifespan.
[0014] The contact between the elements creating the mechanical stop is a tangential contact. This tangential contact optimizes the protection of the torsional damping device elements.
[0015] The torsional damping device may include the following additional features, alone or in combination.
[0016] The first rotating transmission element is provided with a first housing.
[0017] The first spring is mounted in a first housing.
[0018] The first spring and the second spring of the elastic device of the device are arranged in series between the first rotating element and the second rotating element via the third rotating element.
[0019] The compression tab of the second flange is arranged circumferentially between the second end of the second spring and the first rotating element.
[0020] The first rotating element moves the first end of the first spring towards the second end of the second spring, via the compression tab of the first flange, when said first rotating element is free to rotate in the forward direction from the rest position,
[0021] The first rotating element moves the second end of the second spring towards the first end of the first spring, via the compression tab of the second flange, when said first rotating element is mobile in rotation in the indirect direction from the rest position.
[0022] The mechanical end-stop is formed by a tangential contact between the first rotating element, in particular a pair of guide washers, and the second rotating element, in particular a web. Thus, the overtorque does not pass through the first and second flanges, thereby protecting them by reducing the risk of failure under overtorque and increasing their service life.
[0023] The mechanical end stop is formed by a tangential contact between at least one of the guide washers and an angular sector located on an outer diameter of the sail.
[0024] The mechanical end-stop is formed by a tangential contact between the second rotating element, in particular a web, and the output element. Thus, the overtorque does not pass through the first and second flanges, thereby protecting them, notably by reducing the risk of failure under overtorque and increasing their service life.
[0025] The mechanical end stop is formed by a tangential contact between the first rotating element, in particular formed by a web, and the output element.
[0026] The mechanical end stop is formed by a tangential contact between an inner tooth of the web and an outer tooth of the output element.
[0027] The mechanical end stop is formed by a tangential contact between the first flange and the second flange.
[0028] The mechanical end stop is formed by a tangential contact between the first rotating element and at least one element from the first flange and the second flange.
[0029] The mechanical end stop is formed by a tangential contact between the second rotating element and at least one element from the first flange and the second flange.
[0030] The mechanical end-stop is formed by a tangential contact between at least one element of the first and second flanges and the third rotating element. Thus, although the excess torque passes through the first and / or second flanges, there is no risk of failure of said flanges under excess torque if the entry and exit points of the torque are opposite each other, the flanges then working in pure compression.
[0031] The mechanical end stop is formed on the compression lug of one of the first flange and the second flange.
[0032] The compression tab includes a bearing face, adapted to receive one of the ends of one of the springs of the elastic device and an external edge adapted to radially retain one of the springs of the elastic device, the mechanical end stop formed on said external edge.
[0033] The third rotating element is a phasing element comprising an interlayer having a bearing face, adapted to receive in support one of the ends of one of the springs of the elastic device, and an external edge adapted to radially retain one of the springs of the elastic device, the mechanical end stop formed on said external edge.
[0034] The compression tab includes a bearing face, adapted to receive one of the ends of one of the springs of the elastic device, and a nipple adapted to axially retain one of the springs of the elastic device, the mechanical end-of-stroke stop being formed on said nipple.
[0035] The third rotating element is a phasing element comprising an interlayer having a bearing face, adapted to receive in support one of the ends of one of the springs of the elastic device, and a stud adapted to axially retain one of the springs of the elastic device, the mechanical end-of-stroke stop being formed on said stud.
[0036] The mechanical end stop is formed on the end of one of the first flange and the second flange.
[0037] The first rotating element comprises at least one axially extending leg and / or at least one circumferential opening, in that the second rotating element comprises at least one radially extending arm, and in that the mechanical end-stop is formed between at least one arm and one of the at least one leg and at least one opening. Thus, tangential contact is made between adapted portions of the first rotating element and the second rotating element, thereby optimizing their protection.
[0038] The invention also relates to a hybrid vehicle transmission chain comprising a device according to the invention.
[0039] In the description and claims, the terms "compressed" or "compression", on the one hand, and "pre-stressed" or "pre-stressed", on the other hand, when referring to springs, are used as follows:
[0040] - the preload of a spring refers to the fact that this spring is mounted in a housing which are smaller than the initial length of the spring, the latter therefore exerting, by its elasticity, a force against at least one of the walls of the housing;
[0041] - the compression of a spring refers to the fact that this spring is compressed by bringing two moving parts closer together.
[0042] The preload of a spring is therefore effective even when the torsional damping device is at rest, without any torque being transmitted. The compression of a spring, however, only occurs during torque transmission; moving parts relative to each other modify the configuration of the spring housing and compress it.
[0043] By "vehicle" we mean motor vehicles, which include not only passenger vehicles but also industrial vehicles, which includes in particular heavy goods vehicles, public transport vehicles or agricultural vehicles, but also any transport device enabling the passage of a living being and / or an object from one point to another.

[0059] In the description and claims, the terms "external" and "internal," as well as the orientations "axial" and "radial," shall be used to designate, according to the definitions given in the description, elements of the damping device. The X-axis of rotation determines the "axial" orientation. The "radial" orientation is directed orthogonally to the X-axis of rotation. The "circumferential" orientation and / or the "tangential" contact are directed orthogonally to the X-axis of rotation and orthogonally to the radial direction. The terms "external" and "internal" are used to define the relative position of one component with respect to another, with reference to the X-axis of rotation; a component close to said axis is thus described as internal, as opposed to an external component located radially at the periphery. Furthermore, the angles and angular sectors expressed are defined in relation to the X-axis of rotation.
[0060] Fig. 1 represents a torsion damping device 100.
[0061] The damping device 100 may include a torque input element for torque transmission and a torque output element 5 for torque transmission. The element The input can be a first rotating element 1. The output element can be central. The output element can be a hub.

The two balancing discs are riveted together. The stamped piece 47 can be riveted to the two balancing discs 4L.
[0109] When the first and second flanges comprise a single balancing disc, in the axial direction, we find the first flange 30, the second rotating element 2, and then the second flange 40.
[0110] When the first and second flanges include two balancing discs, one of the balancing discs 31 of the first flange 30 and one of the balancing discs 41 of the second flange 40 are located axially on one side of the second rotating element 2, and the other of the balancing discs 31 of the first flange 30 and the other of the balancing discs 41 of the second flange 40 are located axially on the other side of the second rotating element 2.
[0111] The elastic device 11 may further include at least one second spring 14. The first and second springs may be arranged circumferentially. The springs 13, 14 may be arranged in series. The second spring 14 may be straight. Alternatively, the second spring 14 may be curved. The second spring 14 extends between a first end 141 and a second end 142.
[0112] The elastic damping device 11 may comprise a plurality of second springs 14, for example, two second springs 14. The two second springs 14 may be diametrically opposed with respect to the X-axis of rotation. Alternatively, the elastic device 11 may comprise three second springs 14. The three second springs 14 may be equally distributed around the X-axis. Preferably, the elastic device 11 comprises as many second springs 14 as first springs 13.
[0113] Each pair of first spring 13 and second spring 14 can be mounted in one of the housings 12 of the first rotating element 1 and in one of the housings 17 of the second rotating element 2. Each pair of first spring 13 and second spring 14 is mounted between two arms 71 of the veil 7.
[0114] The device 100 may further include a third rotating element 3. The third rotating element 3 may be a phase element 50 of the springs. The phase element 50 includes at least one spacer 51 and preferably a plurality of spacers 51. The spacer 51 may also be called a torque transfer element. The phase element 50 may include as many spacers 51 as there are first springs 13. The spacers 51 may be mounted axially between two phase discs 52. Each spacer 51 may be mounted circumferentially between the first spring 13 and the second spring 14 of a pair of first spring 13 and second spring 14.
[0115] Each spacer 51 may include two end pieces 57. The two end pieces 57 may be identical. The two end pieces 57 may form a single piece. Each end piece 57 may be made of sintered steel. Each end piece 57 may include a bearing surface 54 adapted to receive one end of a spring. Each end piece 57 may further include a stud 55 extending radially from the bearing surface 54 between an end fixed to said bearing surface 54 and a free end. The stud 55 may be a retaining element adapted to radially hold one of the springs. The stud 55 is adapted to radially and axially hold one of the springs when the latter is subjected to centrifugal forces. Each of the end pieces 57 may further include an external edge 56 extending radially from the upper end of the bearing face between an end fixed to said bearing face 54 and a free end.Edge 56 can be a suitable retaining element to radially hold one of the springs.
[0116] The first end of each spacer 51 can be in contact with the second end 132 of the first spring 13 and the second end of each spacer 51 can be in contact with the first end 141 of the second spring 14.
[0117] The phasing discs 52 and each of the end pieces 57 can be fixed together by rivets 53.
[0118] When the first and second flanges include a single balancing disc, in the axial direction, one of the phasing discs 52, the first flange 30, the second rotating element 2, the second flange 40, and then the other of the phasing discs 52 of the third rotating element 3 are found.
[0119] When the first and second flanges comprise two balancing discs, one of the phasing discs 52, one of the balancing discs 31 of the first flange 30 and one of the balancing discs 41 of the second flange 40 are located axially on one side of the second rotating element 2, and the other of the balancing discs 31 of the first flange 30, the other of the balancing discs 41 of the second flange 40 and the other of the phasing disks 52 of the third rotating element 3 are located axially on the other side of the second rotating element 2.
[0120] The torsional damping device 100 may further include a torque limiter adapted to exert friction. The torque limiter is adapted to transmit torque by rotation around the axis of rotation during normal operation and to limit this transmission when the torque exceeds a certain value.
[0121] Figure 1 shows the device 100 in its rest state, i.e., when it is not transmitting any torque, the springs not being under load. Each first and second spring 13, 14 is mounted, at one of its ends, in a compression tab 32, 42 and, at the other of its ends, against one of the spacers 51. Each compression tab 32, 42 bears only on the first rotating element 1. Thus, each pair of first and second springs 13, 14 is mounted between one of the compression tabs 32 of the first flange 30, which bears, for example, only on the first bearing area of the housing 12 of the first rotating element 1, and one of the compression tabs 42 of the second flange 40, which bears, for example, only on the second bearing area of the housing 12 of the first rotating element 1.
[0122] The angle of attack of at least one of the springs 13, 14 by one of the compression lugs can have a value between 0 and 20° (degrees).
[0123] The springs 13, 14 are thus, in pairs, prestressed between the first support zones and the second support zones. Between the springs 13, 14 of each pair, the spacer 51, movable in rotation around the X axis by means of the phasing disks 52, ensures the series connection of the springs 13, 14 of a pair, as well as the phasing, that is to say the angular coordination, of one pair with the other or the others.
[0124] The angular rest position is the initial position from which the following are characterized:
[0125] - a first torque polarity defined by the fact that the first rotating element 1 is in an angular position, relative to the second rotating element 2, which is located in an angular sector between the predetermined initial position, also called the angular rest position, in which the first rotating element 1 is in the rest position, an intermediate position, where the first rotating element 1 is in the active position, and an end-of-stroke position where the first rotating element 1 is in the end-of-stroke position, that is to say, turned to the maximum in the direct direction, until it reaches the end-of-stroke stop;
[0126] - a second torque polarity defined by the fact that the first element rotating element 1 is in an angular position, relative to the second rotating element 2, which is located in an angular sector between the predetermined initial position, also called the angular rest position, in which the first rotating element 1 is in the rest position, and an intermediate position, where the first rotating element 1 is in the active position, and a limit position where the first rotating element 1 is in the limit position, that is to say turned to the maximum in the indirect direction, until it reaches the limit stop.
[0127] These two torque polarities correspond to two operating modes of the torsional damping device 100:
[0128] - a mode where the torque is transmitted from the central torque transmission element towards the peripheral element of torque transmission, corresponding for example, in a vehicle, to a transmission of torque from the wheels to the engine (engine braking phases, for example) commonly referred to as "reverse mode", this corresponds to the second polarity of torque;
[0129] - a mode where the torque is transmitted from the peripheral transmission element of torque towards the central element of torque transmission, corresponding for example, in a vehicle to a transmission of torque from the engine to the wheels (acceleration phases, for example) commonly referred to as "direct mode", this corresponds to the first polarity of torque.
[0130] When the device 100 is in the first torque polarity, the first rotating element 1 has rotated, relative to its rest angular position, in the forward direction (arrow D) to an end-of-stroke position. In this position, the springs 13, 14 are compressed between the first bearing areas of the first rotating element 1 and the compression lugs 42 of the second flange 40.
[0131] When the device 100 is in the second torque polarity, the first rotating element 1 has now rotated, relative to its rest angular position, in the reverse direction (arrow I) to an end-of-stroke position. In this position, the springs 13, 14 are compressed between the second bearing zones of the first rotating element 1 and the compression lugs 32 of the first flange 30.
[0132] The end position of the first rotating element 1 is reached when a mechanical stop is formed between two elements of the device 100, stopping the movement of the first rotating element 1.
[0133] This mechanical end-of-travel stop can be implemented between the first rotating element 1 and the second rotating element 2. In a first embodiment of this mechanical stop between the first and second rotating elements, each arm 71 of the web 7 comes to rest against one of the lugs 93 of at least one of the guide washers 9. In a second embodiment of this mechanical stop between the first and second rotating elements, each arm 71 of the web 7 comes to rest against one of the ends of the opening 91 of at least one of the guide washers 9.
[0134] Alternatively, the mechanical end-of-stroke stop can be located between the second rotating element 2 and the output element 5. In this embodiment, each external leg 6 of the output element 5 comes against one of the circumferential ends of one of the openings 74 of the veil 7.
[0135] Alternatively, the mechanical end-stop can be located between the first flange 30 and the second flange 40 on the one hand, and the third rotating element 3 on the other. In a first embodiment of this mechanical stop between the flanges and the third rotating element, each outer edge 36 of the compression tab 32 of the first flange 30 and each outer edge 46 of the compression tab 42 of the second flange 40 bear against the outer edge 56 of the phase element 50. More specifically, against the outer edge 56 of each of the end caps 57 of the spacers 51 of the phase element 50.
[0136] In a second embodiment of this mechanical stop between the flanges and the third rotating element, each stud 35 of the compression lug 32 of the first flange 30 and each stud 45 of the compression lug 42 of the second flange 40 come against the stud 55 of the phasing element 50. More particularly, against the stud 55 of each of the ends 57 of the spacers 51 of the phasing element 50.
[0137] Alternatively, the mechanical end-of-stroke stop can be located between the first flange 30 and the second flange 40 on the one hand, and the first rotating element 1 on the other. In this embodiment, each outer edge 36 of the compression lug 32 of the first flange 30 and each outer edge 46 of the compression lug 42 of the second flange 40 abut against one of the lugs 93 of the first rotating element 1
[0138] In another alternative embodiment, the device 100 does not include a sail 7.
[0139] In this alternative embodiment, the output element 5 is coupled to the first flange 30 and the second flange 40 and said flanges can form the second rotating element 2. Thus, the torque is transmitted directly between the second flange 40 and the hub 5 when the device 100 rotates in the forward direction and is transmitted directly between the first flange 30 and the output element 5 when the device 100 rotates in the reverse direction.
[0140] More specifically, the first flange 30 can form the second rotating element 2 when the first rotating element 1 is free to rotate in the inverse direction relative to its rest angular position. The second flange 40 can form the second rotating element 2 when the first rotating element 1 is free to rotate in the direct direction relative to its rest angular position.
[0141] Thus, when the device 100 is in the first torque polarity, the first rotating element 1 has rotated, relative to its angular rest position, in the forward direction (arrow D) to an end-of-stroke position. In this position, the springs 13, 14 are compressed between the first bearing areas of the first rotating element 1 and the compression lugs 42 of the second flange 40.
[0142] When the device 100 is in the second torque polarity, the first rotating element 1 has now rotated, relative to its rest angular position, in the reverse direction (arrow I) to an end-of-stroke position. In this position, the springs 13, 14 are compressed between the second bearing zones of the first rotating element 1 and the compression lugs 32 of the first flange 30.
[0143] Other embodiments of the torsional damping device 100 can be implemented without departing from the scope of the invention. For example, the system in which the torsional damping device is mounted can be any system within a torque transmission chain that requires torsional damping, such as a clutch disc.
