Description

Title of the invention: FIRE SEAL

[0001] The present invention relates to a fire seal.

[0002] More particularly, the invention relates to a fire-resistant seal intended to be used in particular in the building construction industry.

[0003] It is known that fire-resistant joints of this nature already exist in the state of the art, which are used to fill or seal voids, holes, etc. and to constitute fire barriers between different construction elements, for example, in order to prevent the fire from spreading.

[0004] Different embodiments of these fire-resistant joints are in fact already well known.

[0005] It is known that fire-resistant joints can be made, for example, by winding a sheet of fibers in the form of a sausage or cord and by maintaining this sausage or cord shape by using a layer of fibers wound around this sheet.

[0006] It is also known that such fire-resistant joints can be made from fibers such as, for example, loose or sheet mineral wool, constituting a core of the fire-resistant joint, around which are arranged one or more retaining envelopes which can be made up of one or more threads, a grid, a woven fabric, or a non-woven fabric, etc.

[0007] But all these joints have a certain number of disadvantages, in particular in terms of their speed or production rate, the loss of material generated during handling / installation, the limited movement capacity of these joints due to their strength and the shape recovery capacity of loose wool, for example, and the difficulties of implementation. There are also limitations on diameters and special shapes.

[0008] Furthermore, these productions also have a disadvantage in terms of the cost of the joints.

[0009] The aim of the invention is therefore to solve these problems.

[0010] To this end, the invention relates to a fire-resistant joint, characterized in that it is produced / obtained from a block of material by a method chosen from the group comprising in particular coring, cutting, machining or trimming of the block of material.

[0011] According to other characteristics of the joint according to the invention taken alone or in combination: - the cutting is carried out by a means chosen from the group including in particular:

[0012] a thread,

[0013] a saw,

[0014] a blade,

[0015] a laser beam,

[0016] water; - the material is chosen from the group including in particular:

[0017] mineral fibers,

[0018] synthetic fibers,

[0019] fibers of animal origin,

[0020] fibers of plant origin,

[0021] chemical fibers; - a surface treatment is applied to all or part of the exterior surface of the seal; - the surface treatment is chosen from the group comprising in particular:

[0022] a coating,

[0023] a painting,

[0024] a projection,

[0025] a spray,

[0026] a dressing,

[0027] a covering; - the surface treatment is carried out with a product chosen from the group including in particular:

[0028] a painting,

[0029] a putty,

[0030] a coating;

[0031] a powder. - the surface treatment has a characteristic allowing the identification of the performance, the dimension of the product, and / or the direction of implementation; - its ends have joining means.

[0032] The invention will be better understood with the aid of the following description, given solely by way of example, and made with reference to the appended drawing in which: - [Fig. 1] [Fig. 1] represents an example of the construction of a fire seal according to the invention.

[0033] In fact, this [Fig.l] illustrates a fire seal designated by the general reference 1.

[0034] In fact, this fire seal is made / obtained from a block of material.

[0035] In this example, seal 1 is a cylindrical seal.

[0036] It is known in fact that it is possible to produce blocks of material which can be chosen from the group further comprising mineral fibers, synthetic fibers, fibers of animal origin, fibers of plant origin or even chemical fibers.

[0037] Furthermore, this fire seal can be obtained / produced from this block by a manufacturing process chosen from the group comprising coring, cutting, machining or trimming.

[0038] Thus, for example, the cutting of this block of material can be carried out by a means chosen from the group comprising in particular a wire, a saw, a blade, a laser beam, water, etc.

[0039] It is then understood that this makes it easier to manufacture the seal insofar as the seal obtained is of the single-piece type, is made from a block of material and therefore does not require external support or an external envelope for its support.

[0040] Of course, this seal can then take different forms depending on the intended application and have different dimensions.

[0041] Likewise, square, rectangular, cylindrical or other sections can be envisaged as well as different dimensions.

[0042] A surface treatment may also be applied to all or part of the exterior surface of the seal.

[0043] This surface treatment can then be chosen from the group including in particular a coating, a painting, a projection, a spraying, a dressing, a covering.

[0044] This surface treatment can then be carried out with a product chosen from the group comprising in particular a paint, a mastic, a coating, a powder.

[0045] This surface treatment can then have a characteristic allowing the identification of the performance, the dimension and / or the direction of implementation of this joint.

[0046] For example, a specific color code or even a particular marking can be used to characterize this joint.

[0047] Finally, it will be noted that the ends of this joint may include joining means such as, for example, mortise-and-tenon means, stepped means, with or without a staple, spring or connecting piece, etc. to enable such butt joints to be arranged in complete safety.

[0048] It is then understood that such a joint structure makes it possible to ensure in particular fire protection, fire compartmentalization, thermal and acoustic insulation, airtightness, smoketightness, or even watertightness of the joints of the construction elements.

[0049] These joints can be installed in compression with or without a bonding product between them.

[0050] Such a joint has a number of advantages, particularly in terms of its production speed or rate and resulting production costs, greater movement capacity, easier handling and storage capabilities, faster implementation and simpler identification.

[0051] Of course, other embodiments can still be envisaged.
